Are you worried about the Coronavirus?

Is anyone else afraid of gaining like a hundred pounds "in quarantine"... ? It's only been two days and all I've done since my office sent everyone home is EAT. :eek-2:

Nope...I need to lose more than a few pounds...I’m going to be very aware that I have to ration food out to make it last. I hope to lose quite a few pounds in the process..

It would be good to have an oximeter at home if you can. I already had one because I had a blood oxygen blip many months ago. It will tell you if you're having breathing/blood ox problems. I also take my temp everyday and write it down. Right now I have a cold, so we'll see. My commuter daughter was officially asked to work from home on Friday until further notice, so that is GREAT news.

A pulse oximeter can be ordered on Amazon for like $20. They are definitely great to have around!

DH has been having difficulty breathing so being able to monitor his oxygen levels has been a huge relief.

I know! We checked today. The entire site is sold out!!

I never knew about a forever roll! I always get ticked because no one changes the roll except for me...haha

Well..The governor closed all the schools, malls, etc..so leaving tomorrow for Maryland. I hope my son’s workshop closes soon but he won’t be going on Monday.
Edited to say they closed his workshop for two weeks!

I think there needs to be a meal planning thread

Currently in Florida
Drivers license and registration renewals have been suspended for at least the next 30 days, as are weight limits for trucks on highways as supplies continue to be shipped into the state.

Nursing homes with expiring licenses will be extended for 30 days.

There are now 70 confirmed cases in the state with 3 deaths. Broward County has the most with 24 confirmed cases, most related to international travel.

Publix is open from 7am-8pm until further notice (they usually stay open until 10pm)

So glad to hear this!

We lost power tonight, so in addition to everything else, the neighborhood feels creepy.

I hope everything is ok for everyone.

Hello, PreRaphaelite, sending bright warm sunshine to you from Hawaii.
I hope that you and your loved ones are well.

Thank you so much! Sending all good wishes right back to you!

(In WA)
Everett School District is offering free lunches to ALL children 18 and under. No need to be a student or low income. They sent out information on how to say you will be there and how to pick up.

Need of food is NOT a good reason to keep schools open! Many ways to address the need.

School employees can only be paid if they show up to work. May as well figure out how to prepare meals and even deliver if needed. That means they can get paid, exposure can be reduced, and no kids go hungry.

@Mamabean Sending hugs tour way with the decisions you are making!
@arkieb1 Checking in, I hope you are feeling better soon.

It's nearly 2am here and pacing around a bit as I can't sleep. My husband went out today briefly for shopping to top up what we didn't get online and I really felt uncomfortable with it. He is still for the meantime going to work and drives in but works in an office in a city centre! I have to say I am concerned.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief that my parents are finally out of Florida and back in their lake house in Northern Ontario. My brother in law stocked the place up for them and he’s going to be bringing them supplies so they stay inside. He’ll be leaving it all outside the front door.

His parents are nearby and his dad recently suffered from a life altering stroke. He’s worried and doing whatever he can to ensure that they stay safe.

Brother in Law is a scientist so he gets it.

@TooPatient in Palm Beach County they're allowing certain schools to have ready bagged lunches from 11am to 1pm Several counties will follow this as long as they can.

Its unfortunate but has to be done, otherwise these kids would not eat.

State of Florida will be moving to EOC 1 which is as bad as it gets

I share your deep concerns Niffler75. I am self isolating, but my husband still needs to go to work and goes out periodically to purchase things that we need.
He wears a mask and gloves, but I am still very concerned.

Sending you warmest wishes for deep peace and restful sleep.

I love that all of our districts are doing this and restaurants, catering companies, and others (such as Microsoft) are offering even more support. Takes away one area of worry!

Oh no! I hope it’s brief!

Not worried for myself and my husband yet. There are very few cases in my area so far.
I am worried for my 92 year old mother who lives in a seniors’ residence....

My 4 year old goes to YMCA for preschool and last night we got an email saying the program will remain open with extra cleanings etc. Then this afternoon we got an email saying it will be closed Mon & Tues but plans to reopen on Wed. We kept our son home on Fri just from feeling anxious but had just decided to keep him in the program as long as they remain open. So much for that. I'm not very hopeful they will reopen on Wed.

This whole thing made me realize how fortunate we are that we have a work situation where this will not cause my husband or I to have to miss work. I can't imagine what a stress this would be for other parents who may not have the luxury of working from home or have childcare.

This will also force me to finally clean up my pantry. My little silver lining to the world crisis

It’s hard not worry when we see a lot of chaos and panic around us.

Current confirmed Coronavirus 19 cases according to John Hopkins website is almost 157,000 people. Current world population is estimated to be 7,700,000,000. The percentage of the world population that have this virus is 0.002038961038961. I’d take those odds any day. I remain optimistic.

Hoping all of you and yours remain well and virus free.

Marcy

You’ve made me start worrying about power cuts now! Frozen food was getting very low in stock on the supermarket shelves yesterday, so there’s no way I could replenish our freezer if the power cut off for any length of time and food started to dangerously defrost. Life is exhausting as a worrier!

I bought several cases of water a few years ago and dumped out an inch or so from each bottle. Stuck them in the big chest freezer so that they will help keep it cold in case of power outage and doubles as clean water in case that is needed.

For those who want to get tested and meet the criteria only

Oh and one more thing. So apparently that website the google was supposed to build...isn't.

Statement from Verily: "We are developing a tool to help triage individuals for Covid-19 testing. Verily is in the early stages of development, and planning to roll testing out in the Bay Area, with the hope of expanding more broadly over time.
