Im new to this site, so glad to be here. I’ve been trying to research jewelry for days and now frustrated. Am a part of several communitties & is very helpful. I have several items but will just ask about one. I am not an expert by any means. The brooch I purchased has a black central stone and scattered stones among silver design. I think I see 4 crowns. What type of design is it?

Mourning jewelry? It looks like the smaller stones are glued in. Maybe costume jewelry, made to look antique.

Mourning jewelry. Can you tell me more about it. I didnt know their was a type. Interesting

Years ago, when a loved one died, you went into "mourning", and you wore all black for a year or two.
This included your jewelry. Queen Victoria wore all black for the rest of her life, after the death of her husband. Black fashions and accessories became very popular.
I think your piece is a reproduction of that style.
