Asscher Evaluation- seeking help

I think 2.12 and 3.1 look leaky on tilt. I would want to compare 2.54 and 1.97 in person.

@0-0-0 is this outlined grey area the part that looks leaky to you? Want to make sure I'm understanding correctly so I can learn (photo is of 2.12 is it tilted to the side)1000017697.png1000017697.png

Yes I think there are a few leaky steps under the table as they don’t flash on/off as the stone rotates. Using the 2.12 as an example, you can also see right through the stone with more tilt. This doesn’t happen with better cut ones.

Oh this is SO helpful! Thank you! Just trying to learn what to be looking out for you guys are the best!

I have another random question that you brilliant ppl might be able to answer. When I was shopping for my replacement wedding set I noticed that a lot of the ovals had fluorescence. I have probably looked at over a thousand asschers by now and I don't think a single one has had fluorescence. Why would this be? Both lab diamonds

Where did you find these lab ovals with fluorescence? What color?

Oh gosh good question it was a few years ago. I think back then I was browsing on James Allen, Brilliant Earth or Blue Nile and the like. I ultimately ended up buying mine in store though. I think I was looking D-H if I remember correctly? Is it not common for oval either?

Not common at all for colorless labs.

ah! This has me wondering now (my memory is poor) if I was seeing it more during the time I entertained h/i colors. I had read that you could go warmer with a yellow gold setting so browsed those for a bit. Ended up hating them though and went with a D haha

Alright everyone. I return humbled after learning a very important lesson. "If you snooze you lose". I had decided to purchase this one thanks to everyone's input- but after seeing that it's price got hiked, I thought I would wait for it to come back down. After all, there are so many asschers in the world who would buy THIS one? Welp. It's gone. And I'm sad. So here I am back at the drawing table and you better believe I wont make that mistake again ::)

I come with my tail between my legs asking if any of these options I found today are worthwhile...

1.96

2.54

2.10

2.6

And finally the 1.97 that @0-0-0 kindly sent me is of course still on the table!

Okay, the 2.54 isn't bad but a bit static in the middle as it rotates. Someone else may find more issues.
0-0-0 has an eye. I would buy the 1.97 in a heartbeat.

@Ibrakeforpossums you've probably got the right idea. Maybe that's what I should have done from the start.
I did just find this 2.00 and I absolutely love the shape and how wide the cut corners are but can't tell from this angle what's going on in the center of the stone, if it's good or bad. I'm drawn to it, but with no skills and no eye that doesn't mean much :lol-2:

Order placed! I went with the 1.97 as you all suggested!! Thank you SO much for all of the help I'll show you when it comes in ✨

lovedogs is another sharp eye. Good move.

It has arrived!!! No my very novice eye it looks CRISP. What is the best way for me to evaluate it and make sure it's great enough to keep?

@0-0-0 @lovedogs @Karl_K @Ibrakeforpossums would love your guy's eyes on this diamond! Pics and videos posted above. It's very crisp and flashy, def has some tilt windowing but I don't know how much is "normal" or is this completely avoidable and this one is just not great? Thank you guys for sticking around for the journey!!

The shots in the black case look gorgeous. At first I thought it was windowing on your hand but I looked twice, blew it up, and now I don't think so. I think it's reflecting the environment. If it's crisp and dances as you rock it, and if YOU love it, keep it. I'd be thrilled with that diamond.

Thank you!! The more I look at it the more obsessed I become ✨

nice face up patterns and dances fetchingly... whats not to love?

Alcestis - WOO HOO!!!! Karl likes it a lot and you have a lovely Asscher. I love this forum.

YAY!! A lot of the credit goes to the lot of you for not letting me buy a dud but MOST of the credit goes to @0-0-0 for literally spoon feeding me this gorgeous stone. Thank you all!!!!

Glad it checks out and it looks good in your videos! I think what you are seeing is just the stone reflecting light from the girdle area on tilt. In your video with the tweezers, the facets reflect the background red color only when you tilt towards the open side. The same facets go dark when you tilt towards the closed sides with the tweezers. With your choice of setting it should perform more similar to the latter all around.

I couldn't be more pleased! I'm so grateful. It will be a bit before I'm able to have it set but once I do I'll post and updated photo!! Happy holidays to you all!
