I really dislike being the centre of attention and I sometimes doubt the wedding will be a particularly enjoyable event for me! The main stress is working out what to wear. I am soooo dreading dress shopping!

My thought was that it might be nice to have autumnal colours in the photos, but I realised that that is only 4 - 5 months away. I don't even know if that is enough time to plan. We wanted a simple wedding, but now that it is at home instead of overseas, I can see that it might end up being more people and just more drama....

Having candles around was a great icebreaker too - got people talking about chemical reactions, and things that go boom!
Good luck on the dress shopping

I think you'd be fine though with a good anti persperant - unless you really sweat a lot? Sorry, I'm not much help here!
As for sending invites out in March, I think that is plenty of time.

So of course, given the extra stress I am no doubt going to be under, one of my concerns is ending up a sweaty mess on my wedding day. For that reason I am going to need material that doesn't show sweat marks easily... perhaps an overlay of lace? I may be being overly cautious, but I'd just DIE if I had to walk around with visible marks on my dress. Ugh.
I like the steampunk look but am not sure if I personally could pull it off, especially in front of family. I have a bit of a weird thing about blending into the background around people I know. Which is probably why I LOVED living overseas for so long! Argh.
How early are people sending out invitations? Our wedding is around mid year, perhaps as early as early June, so I was thinking.... March? Does that sound reasonable?? I don't plan on sending out Save The Date cards, though - I'll just get the word out via word-of-mouth.

Dress shopping actually went OK last Thursday. I went to three stores, but the third one was the "old" location of the second store, and really only had old store samples which were fairly beat up, so nothing worthwhile.
The first store was wonderful in that the owner - a dressmaker - was there and talked me through all the different styles of wedding dresses. She asked a few questions to see what I was looking for (I didn't really know, so just told her a few "no way" points, such as no shiny satin, no big poofy skirts), then she gave advice on what styles she thought might suit me. I have to say, she was pretty good at picking styles, as the few she selected for me to try, were probably the best it was going to get.
The second store was fairly useless, really. The lady there was a saleslady rather than a dressmaker so she was really just there to sell dresses; no concept of what might suit me, no advice on what stock they had, just said for us to pick out a few wel liked and she'd help me try them on. We struggled to even find a couple we wanted to try, but ended up with about four. We both (Mum & I) dissolved into a fit of The Giggles at one point as the lady was manoeuvring a dress over my head, so I think that was a good sign we were all dressed out at that point and needed coffee!
One of the dresses the lady at the first store picked out was - I realised later - a dress that I had saved photos of in my "Dresses I Like" folder. It was probably the nicest of all of them, although it was a tight call between that and one other. So I am going back today to have a chat with her again and - maybe! - order it. It will be nice to have that weight off my mind.
What else have I been doing... hmmm...
We also have picked our entertainment, yay. We've gone with a guy who will play guitar for the ceremony, pre-dinner drinks and the first bit of the reception (ie until speeches), and will then switch over and be a DJ for the last few hours. It has worked out well because we really wanted live music for the signing/pre-dinner drinks in particular, and didn't want to splurge for a band for the dancing part of the reception. And having him do both gives us a fairly reasonable package deal, compared to hiring separate DJ and live musician/s.
Invitations are stressing me! I need to just decide on them and get going! *slaps self*
Anyone else have any planning updates?
