I don''t know how you guys take such clear pictures! I tried the close up setting on my digital camera, but this was the best I could do...

Keep in mind that this is NOT my setting, but the neato ring tweezer that Diamond Source VA supplied so I could get an idea of the size on my finger. Note that I am going to set it east-west like it is now. For my real setting, think I might go for a very subtle halo... but any ideas would be appreciated! I go to Quest Manufacturing tomorrow at noon!

Thanks Anne @ Diamond Source VA... I think I''m in love

a further away shot so you can get true perspective ... that first picture makes it look way huge!

uhhhh....i think it is way huge!! very nice!

what are the specs?

Congratulations on your new oval, it''s beautiful. From what I hear Quest is the best!!! I love that you will have it set east to west!!

It''s a 2.01 carat, but it''s 10.23mm (across) which makes it look SO big. I actually thought I wanted a 2.25 but this puppy looks big to me -- I sacrificed some depth for the wonderful width! (gosh, I just read that over and it sounds kind of lewd to me.

That''s going to be sweet.
I can''t wait to see what Quest does with it.

How about this?

Oh, man, that is nice! And it does look HUMONGOUS on you. What size is your ring finger?

That first option that 7s/1 posted is TDF!

This is a very cool setting for an oval!

OH. MY. FREAKING. WORD.

That rock is HUGE. You absolutely have to be lying when you tell us it''s only 2 carats.

Is your nose growing??

Seriously, I was thinking at LEAST four carats. I can barely see your finger! It''s just a stunning stone and short of covering it in dirt, anything you do to it is going to look stunning.

I''ve definitely got 2 thumbs up on the e/w halo setting...with some small melee around it...it would be divine.

wow, that is a monster!!! gorgeous!

Very pretty, what are the specs on the diamond?

I had my appointment with Quest. It is everything PSers have said -- bizarre location (above Dunn Loring animal hospital) but very, very nice people. I asked about the east-west with the halo setting -- about $2500. There''s one on niceice.com that''s about $3200, so it''s definitely less but a little out of my price range.

I also asked about getting 5 stones (my 3S engagement ring + a pair of .45ct each earrings) set into a band -- which was $1500. Does that price sound ok? I actually asked for a thinner plat band, and I''m not getting any other diamonds put on it, so it seemed a little high to me.

They quoted a plain old Tiffany setting at $500-$600 in plat -- is that a lot? I guess I had heard so many things about their prices being "reasonable" that I was hoping it would be cheaper. I think Anne @ Diamond Source said she could get me a white gold for $150, so I might go that route only because I know it''s not permanent, and I can''t wait to wear this sucker on my finger for real!

And yes, it really is 2.01 cts... blame Kodak for the crazy enlargement up close! I wish it looked as good in real life as online... but isn''t that always the case.

Wow! What an awesome looking stone!

I love the E/W setting idea. You must have small hands -- the diamond looks much bigger than 2 ct. What are the specs?

DiamondLil

2.01 carats (10.23x6.87x3.99 mm)
H Color, SI1 clarity
Depth 58.1%
Table 60%
No flourescence

I have to admit -- next to my H SI2 .78 round, this stone looks a tiny bit darker. I''m hoping that once it''s set, there won''t be such a difference, but I think since my new baby is so much bigger than my old H, I''m more sensitive to the color.

Just checked out the Quest site and saw the setting I''m getting for my 5 stones --

It''s priced at $3600 with 1.3 ctw worth of F VS1 diamonds, so I guess the $1500 isn''t SO bad... but it is a bit more than I wanted to pay for a reset.

Hi Barbx,
I have been told it's not the cost of the smaller diamonds that are expensive but the labor when doing any type of custom work. I think the price they gave you was very good on your east/west halo idea as well has the band using your own stones as well. you could always send a pic to Whiteflash or another company and get a quote and then compare the two. As for the Tiffany setting, that price sounds good to me too. The ones I've seen on WF and other sites run closer to $1000 for the platinum(for a round stone ) assuming it's a true tiffany style setting and not just a simple 4 or 6 prong setting plus your looking at setting a rather large
oval

Thansk Mrssalvo. My heart starting palpitating on the way home thinking that I had paid too much! However, they do seem like very nice people so I''m sure if I decided to cancel, I wouldn''t have a problem getting my deposit back. It''s 3 weeks to complete the work, and I hardly think they''ve started the job n the past 2 hours

Oooooooooooohhhhhh....... *sigh*

Stunning, absolutely stunning! I can''t wait to see it set!!! I think the EW micropave would be gooohhgeous, daahhhling!! :)
