Everyone seems to love A christmas Story. I have never seen it!

My two favorites are How the Grinch Stole Christmas - the cartoon version. I hate the Jim Carey version.

And I love Elf! Such a cute movie!

I never have time on Christmas Day to even look at the TV, much less watch something! But I do try to catch A Christmas Story at some point. My husband has never seen it! He's so deprived.

Why is The Sound of Music always aired during the holidays?? It doesn't make sense to me, but it's too late - I grew up watching it on ABC, and now I think of it every Christmas.

Ohhhhhh! I'll have A Christmas Story playing on a loop on Sunday while we decorate and then I'll watch all 24 hours of it (great background) on Christmas. I love it sooooo much! Just hearing the opening music and seeing the window at Higbee's makes my heart flutter!

Same in our house. I actually have a picture framed hanging in my house of the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window. :naughty:

I also use the quote "Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian." any chance I get.[/quote
My hubby and I always say: "notta fingah!"

Home alone, best quote ever "When I grow up and get married, I'M LIVING ALONE!!!!"

White Christmas. Can't help it, I cry every damn time I see it, and I've been watching it since i was 15.

5. The Family Stone

Here's last year's thread, great movies in there:

Haven-

I was thinking of, "The Family Stone", but wouldn't have mentioned it. I thought it would make me sound too weird. I recently saw that movie on DVD and then bought it and watched it again and again. I find it absolutely compelling! I was so surprised to see that anyone else mentioned it.

I think it's a movie that makes one appreciate one's messed up quirky family all that much more.

I love this thread!!

Mine are mostly due to limited BBC budgets.
So these were mostly on repeat, year after year. Maybe they are not directly related to Christmas, but thats what they mean to me. :praise:

The Wizard of Oz
The Bishops Wife
It's a Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol/Scrooge - any version you choose! My current favourite is the Muppets Christmas Carol.
White Christmas
Oliver

I have never seen The Christmas story so will look out for that.

A current one I adore is Elf. I can't wait to introduce this one to my DD.

I don't care for Love Actually. I especially dislike the story that pertains to Emma Thompsons character. Leaves me cold. So whilst I find it an ok film, it does not fill me with the festive cheer the others do.

Looking forward to hearing more suggestions. :appl:
