Bezel design -help needed-metal ?

I am currently waiting for CADs on a bezel solitaire ring. The bezel will be shiny and about 1 mm thick. I initially was sure I wanted platinum, but after some reading, I'm confused. I don't want a banged up, scratched or dull bezel after a few months. Would 14k palladium be a better choice? Any bezel gals out there that can tell me how their bezels are holding up? What metal?
