Very pleased to be able to keep this Tsavorite cut by Jeff White, as the colour is very vivid and lively, and it is very clean, and big being over 2ct!

Roughs for finished stones over 2ct of this quality are increasingly difficult to find.

I prefer a medium green and this stone is perfect for me; hence I am really happy that I can keep it for myself afterall!

It will be set in a ring as a present to myself for my significant birthday very soon.

Inspiration ring setting:

I have requested for the following changes to the inspiration ring:
- Add an air line/gap between the scrolls and the centre stone
- Rose Gold to be used for the bezel setting to bring out the green
- Plain comfort shank 4mm at the top tapering to 3mm at the bottom
- 14K White Gold
- Quotes for both natural and lab grown diamonds

In the end I opted for natural diamonds as the price different for small melees is negligible.

Initial CAD that I rejected as the air line/gap is missing and the gallery is too plain:

Revised CAD that I approved, to me, it is a nicer ring than the original one. However, that was before I noticed the increased in height of the gallery by 1.5mm, DOH! I just e-mailed my usual contact at the bench to see if the gallery can be lowered, hope it is not too late as I approved the revised CAD 2 days ago, DOH!!!

I may have to live with this if it had gone into production as it is a rushed order in the hope it will be finished before their annual closure for Chinese New Year which is earlier on 29 January 2025 this year.

I shall provide updates as and when I get them.

Feeling very excited as I love this stone and would have been gutted if it was sold. Thanks to those up there looking after me!

That is a stunning gem! The color is so vibrant and the cut perfection. I love your inspiration picture. Congrats!

I was concerned by the size of the melees being only 1mm, however, the ring design is effectively a double halo, and with 80 x 1mm stones, it should quite blingy.

Besides, bigger melees would be out of proportion and could over-shadow the Tsavorite.

Wow I loved your revisions! The gallery is beautiful. At 20mm it'll be such an amazing sized ring! I can't wait for your updates and so happy you were able to keep this stone and go ahead with this.

The color of your stone is just electric! I love it!! And the inspiration ring you chose is absolutely stunning, so this is going to be a real winner!!

Oh, that's gonna be gorgeous! Lovely gem, too!

Happy birthday in advance, DK! Your tsav is the colour I like most in tsavorites: fresh, vibrant and bright! I agree with all your revisions, it will be a beautiful ring.

:love:What a vibrant, sparking and lush green tsavorite.. and for the Chinese New Year and your birthday! Double celebration indeed! Kung Hei @dk168 - wishing you long life, prosperity and deep joy.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Since I started my professional life back in the late 80s, I always take 2 days off when I do not take any calls or look at any e-mails etc., one being Chinese New Year and the other being my birthday, and always book them in advance.

I am hoping to get the coin ring made too before the year is out, however, unlikely to be in time for CNY or my birthday though.

That’s so lovely :kiss2: Me-time and no screens. I always take a day off in my birthday as well, @dk168 . But on CNY it is not easy for me to ignore my phone. There will be lots of greetings and messages like “Are you on your way? I shall steam the fish” :mrgreen2:
Sometimes I feel like begging off but “I am only 7/8 Chinese, and the Euro 1/8 of me is a bit reserved” doesn’t seem to work.

@Crimson I guess I am definitely Cantonese when it comes to food in that I eat almost anything and in different cuisines, except insects, and am a feeder, and am a hoarder of food! :lol-2:

Update, the bench can lower the gallery, woo hoo!

Old on the left, new and lowered on the right:

How lovely! That is a beautifully cut tsavorite with a fresh green color that reminds me of emerging spring leaves.

I have little melee mounted on the shank/gallery of a ring, some are also 1mm, and I think the effect is still sparkly just less flashy than larger melee. The melee also might pop more in the finished ring once all the stones are mounted and the metal is polished. I like the lines of the halo you chose a lot.

I hope the 1mm stones in an effectively double halo would be sparkly too.

Can't really increase the size of the melees without affecting the proportions and overall diameter of the ring - it will be the biggest in diameter of all my rings to date!
