Wow, my first posting of a topic...a momentous day!

We all like to see a bit of bling so I thought I''d post this link to the UK Sky News website, which has a news item on the world going engagement ring crazy. You can click on a link (within the article) to pictures of celebrities and their rings. It''s a shame some of the rings aren''t very clear, but there again I think I''d go blurry eyed if I saw a 5 carat monster, so how can I blame the camera?!!

Awesome! Thank you for posting that, it was fun to look at all the pictures.

That slide show was great!

There were a lot I hadn''t seen. A lot of celebs in England that I had no idea who they were - nice rings though

I never knew Heather McCartney had a sapphire engagement ring.

Funny how they commented that Camilla''s ring looks dull..

That was neat. Nice to see a few split-shanks and halos in the bunch.

Thanks Minimouse - I had so much fun looking at those! I never seem to get enough of looking at celebrities'' rings...or anyone else''s for that matter.

There were many of those that I hadn''t seen before, but I was a little surprised at the picture of Catherine Zeta Jones''s ring...they must''ve shown her wedding band because it was not a picture of her huge e/w set marquise from Michael Douglas. I also have thought that Camilla''s ring is always dark in photos. Is it just because there are flashbulbs going off in her face all the time? But no one else''s ring looks so dark...is it the nature of an EC when faced with flashbulbs? Very odd...but it is always very dark....no glittering at all. I''d rather go smaller than go dull! Anyhow - I had so much fun with this article...thanks!!!

I love slide shows like that, thanks so much for thinking of us here! I can never get enough of looking at everyone''s e-rings, celebrities or otherwise!

That was great! I always love seeing the celebs'' rings.

Guess so... so large facets produce blinding flash but they need movement to catch the light, much like a small pocket mirror would. Since pictures are "stills" EC are not very photogenic. If flashlights do not happen to be at just the right angle there's no "action" and if they do you get a large white blob of light and the picture is ruined

The same property makes step cuts into small signal mirrors wonderful to play with...

Windowshopper should have quite a few stories to tell here.

Btw. Miller's ring looks wonderful, and puzzling... they say there are nine diamonds in there but there is not enough detail to tell where they are.

Any ideas how that ring is made ?

That was so nice! I love seeing so many different rings in one place

Ana, first of all thanks for that explanation regarding ECs and photography. Secondly, I wondered the same thing about Sienna Miller''s ring...the article said that 2 of 9 stones kept popping out...but it only looks like there''s 1 big one. Maybe there''s a collar around the sides of the stone??? or surprise diamonds underneath? Cos otherwise I don''t get it!

The detail is hard to see in that pic, but Siena Miller''s ring is definitely a cluster/button ring--so there are 9 smaller stones and not one big one, though a setting like that w/ one big one (which is what that pic above makes it look like) would be stunning, huh!!?

Could be a cluster ring (makde of smaller nine diamonds of about equal size) it would be very traditional, but not much in line with the other stuff on that slideshow. The 20k estimate is a bit high for that as well.

I can't remember whose hand is in the picture below, but it was from a similar star list.

Would you wear such a "diamond plate" ?

I think Sienna Miller''s ring is a "cluster" ring with 9 little diamonds together to look like one big one.

I must say, I''m a little shocked! I immediately discounted the possibility of the ring being a cluster setting because, well, they''re rich and famous! While cluster rings can be nice in their own right, I just thought - celebrity e-ring...big rock. And for SURE...$20K for that would be outrageously overpriced for that. Huh.

I enjoyed that way too much!...but I Am with ya''ll IA hve better things to spend 20K then a cluster ring, like a single diamond that size.
