Hello all,
I thought I would start a thread on my blue sapphire ring. I have had the stone about two years, and have been waiting to have it set like I wanted. That meant a pretty long wait, because I wanted a three stone with half moon sides. They are impossible to find. The dealer I work with found the sapphire for me. I had specified that I wanted a light blue, lighter than most people consider ideal, and he found a stone I love. The stone does have some inclusions. I think they are not distracting but some are eye-visible. The brilliance does a lot to hide them though. The tone is medium to medium-light, but not light. The saturation is very good which makes the color seem to "pop".
Michael E. is setting the ring, and I will post some photos of it once I have them. He did send me a photo today of the finished half moons, and they are exquisitely cut. Apparently, they were quite difficult. He said that he cut them from one piece, and that the corners are clipped , but the prongs will hide that. He said that the cut adds durability, and brightness. The sapphire he cut them from was unheated.
Anyway here are a couple of photos. One is of the sapphire alone, and the other is one he sent me of the three stones all together.
I am very pleased!!!
