Good evening,
I have a question based on a blue pendant in my collection. It's an oval cut, large, mounted in gold, and about 22 carats. One of the prongs has a butterfly charm. However, it has no table facet (see image). This is unusual to me since every other stone in my collection has a large table facet. Perhaps, it was faceted in a rose-cut style. Can one of the experts on here help me in this matter? Thank you in advance!

It looks like a checkerboard oval cut. I've seen a few such cuts for stones with low RI, to mask windows or inclusions perhaps? I would take an amateur guess that it's an irradiated topaz, but it's hard to tell from just a photo.

+ 1 checkerboard cut top (not a rose cut) and an irradiated blue topaz

Think fluorite would be possible too - this one is very large (22ct) - a checkerbord cut for such a big "topaze" would be unusual.

But you get a lot of extremely large fluorite ( checkerbord, concave) in gemsshows for small money.

Thank you so much for the identification of the cut! In addition, I do not know precisely what type the blue stone is. However, it appears that it might be an irradiated topaz as you said. Thanks!

A rose cut typically has a flat bottom and the crown is domed.
A checkerboard looks like the usual faceted stone (V shaped pavilion) but the crown is domed.
Both have kite shaped facets in the domed crown.
