Hello all - I have never posted on here before, but i have learned so much from this website, so thank you!

i am thinking of buying a sapphire to make a piece of jewelry (RHR most likely - i like the tiffany legacy with a colored stone in the center). I love the color on this sapphire i found at the natural sapphire company, and i know it might be a bit light for some people''s tastes but i love the lighter ones.

What i was wondering is if someone on here could give me an idea of whether it is a decent cut and price - i don''t know anything about that, and i know there are some experts on here who can tell just from looking at the pictures, which i definitely can''t. Any advice would be so helpful - thank you in advance for your time!

It''s asymmetrical and the culet is off-kilter.

Ditto

Thank you for the replies! i noticed in the one picture that it looked off center, but some of them on the website seem to be that way - i thought perhaps it was normal. Would that be part of the reason it was priced inexpensively?

I don''t think I could call the color " intense ".

I agree - I wouldn''t call it intense either, but that''s what the NSC website called it. I am just getting familiar with the terminology - i actually liked it because it was lighter than some i''ve seen.

thanks cinnamon 013 - that was very helpful! do you mind if i ask the prices ? i didn''t see them in the post... i really liked the emeral d cut one!

You''d need to check with Richard to make sure he stilll has them. Here is the info he gave me. I''m sure he is ok with me sharing since this wasn''t some sort of special price or anything.

He shared lots of additional information with me in emails about these stones, so just email from his website and he will answer you with additional info.

Everyone is correct. The cut is bad: culet is off center and the stone isn't square. The colour is also rather light but is more of a personal preference. Definitely not "intense" though.

violet, i am with you, i tend to love the lighter colored stones too. the intense ones just don''t do it for me. I know that is supposed to be one of the goals when searching for a good stone....

i guess we could say lucky for us, if it makes the price lower than intense color.

Thanks Eva! I agree with what you said totally - i am glad i don''t like the expensive colors as much :) Do you think that stone might look nice in a ring, even though the cut is a little off? Maybe i should look around for something with a better cut, but i thought you might not notice the asymmetry when it was set, and for the price...

I would pass on this one. It is really obvious. You can definately find better!!

I thought so - thanks for the advice!

and one more thing that stone would wholesale in Australia for $85 AU the price is way over the mark in my opinion. Its only 0.85ct which means the price /ct is much less than a stone over a carat.
