Ceylon is Sri Lankan and Burmese are from Burma (I don't use the other name, as I don't recognise the authority of the junta and their decision to change the name in such an undemocratic fashion. In Britain, Burma is Burma.)Date: 7/3/2008 4:33:54 PM

Is it as simple as Ceylon is from Sri Lanka and Burmese are from Myanmar? Is one more valuable or sought after than the other? Thanks for your help!

Whether one is more valuable than the other is not that simple, and I''m not sure if location greatly influences spinel prices in the way that it can with rubies/sapphires.
If you consider a ruby; a fine ruby from Sri Lanka will cost a lot more than a so so ruby from Burma. However, with two equally fine rubies, the burmese stone will carry a premium.
