Blue Stone Help - Spinels Anyone?

I LOVE this style of ring and would like to wear something like this in lieu of my original engagement ring (whose diamond I am resetting into a "right hand" ring). I''ve been looking online for a 8x8 - 10x10 size cushion cut blue stone, blue spinels in particular are my fancy, but just wondering what people''s opinions are on such a setting and if there are other hardy blue stones I could use that have a sapphire type look. In the end, I personally like the look of this ring, it''s not a "I want it to look expensive" but I don''t want it to look cheap and costume-like either.

For a hardy blue, sapphire and spinel are your best bets. A good blue spinel is had to come by though.
