So....isn''t it funny how you try your dress on and you LOVE it and then you go to the alterations and all of a sudden it is a different dress???

Don''t get me wrong my alteration lady is THE BEST and she should be for what we are paying her.

Any way the way it breaks down is that she needed to take apart my dress to get the breast area right. Now it is alot lower than I wanted and she made the back different- more like a "V" instead of a straight across, I just feel fat and like I am too big in the chest for the dress. She noticedthat I was a uncomfortable and she called me last night to let me know that she had done some adjustments to get it a little higher in the chest. Anywho- it looks fine I guess but I just feel not so radiant.

WAHH. I feel like such a brat but I don''t feel like a beautiful bride, any one else have this happen?

Thanks for letting me be crazy- if I can''t do it here where can I?

I''m sorry. Maybe after she has fixed it you will feel better in it. I KNOW how much you loved your dress... alterations cant change it that much! I bet that once you get it on on your wedding day with your veil and pretty hair and make up and start walking down the aisle you will feell GORGEOUS. Because you are gorgeous!

Oh honey,
big hugs to you. I think that there is no way that you can''t be extra-sensitive at this point. I''m glad that your seamstress sensed your distress, I''m sure that she''ll work with you.
Anyhow, I''m hoping that it all works out.

Thanks guys- the reason that the alterations changed things so much is that the place that I bought my dress measured my body and I was a 12 in the dress except for my chest ( My breast area was measured as a 14) But They told me that you wouldn''t have a problem with the alterations and we should order the 12 because it fit so perfect. NOT. It fit perfect until it got to just below my shoulder blades. She couldn''t get it closed!!!!! There wasn''t enough extra material to cover the difference so she had to take the dress down to the "V" shape- which made the whole dress slope differently- it is alot lower under my arms and I guess I am just really feeling insecure. It is so intimidating when all the other brides come out of the room and they are just too cute and tiny!!!! I feel totally crazy- but I can''t help it!!!!!

i couldn''t have said it better!! like tybee said, you''re prob feeling a little extra sensitive. i totally remember your dress because of your pic -- you looked sooooooo gorgeous in it! soo happy -- obviously the perfect dress for you!

gorgeous dress + gorgeous girl = beautiful bride --> its a fail safe formula, you are going to be stunning!

Thanks guys, yall are so sweet. It is just pressure I guess. I want to look perfect.... you know?

The whole walking down the aisle in front of like 250 people...... FREAKY :)

Thanks for the encouragement!!

MUAH, y''all are the best!!

I know you must feel freaked by this, but I saw how AMAZING You looked in that dress when you realized it was THE ONE....you were radiating joy!! And I know you''re going to look gorgeous!!! I bet the little change she made since your fitting will make all the difference. Hang inthere!!

First of all, I''m sure you will look fantastic. I totally feel you on the bigger in the chest area. I would say that if you are uncomfortable thinking of people looking at your back during the ceremony, remind yourself you will be wearing your veil. But seriously, having seen your dress pics, I think you are going to be spectacular!!

This is totally the salon''s fault. You should ALWAYS get the size to your largest measurement (in yr case, 14). If you''re still unhappy w/it I would bring this up to the salon and have them order you a new dress ASAP, on THEIR tab!!

((((((((((((HHHHHUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!))))))))))))

Don''t worry about it Renee, you will be so happy and glowing on your wedding day that you''d look radiant and gorgeous in a potato sack! You are a beautiful lady, and your kindness and warmth will shine through. Talk to your seamstress about your concerns and let us know how it goes.

Damn skippy! We went up another size after that (didn''t cost any more) just to be super safe. My boobages are a little bigger than most. I was like 3 sizes higher than my waist with the boobies.

I agree though that if you are not happy they should be reordering

hi,

i am sorry to hear that. maybe the seamstress was able to fix it after all. if NOT, i would support what flopkins has said... talk to the store manager. you might want to think about taking someone with you who will support you in that situation. if the manager is only half as bossy as the "lady" in 'my' store, going with someone might be really helpful.

i hope it all works out well and you'll like the dress after all.

regards,
kaschmir.

I totally know how you feel about not feeling radiant in your dress.

I had my dress custom made, although I had tried on similar styles before I chose to have it made. The seamstress, who was very good, caught pneumonia and didn''t have the dress totally finished until a week before my wedding. That was the first time I tried on the dress with the actual dress material - she had made a dress out of muslin to get everything right and I kept thinking it didn''t look right, but I left it to her b/c I don''t know a thing about sewing. She kept saying the finished product would be great.

Well, I tried on the dress and hated it! I put on a happy face for her - it wasn''t the quality - she did a great job, it just wasn''t what I had envisioned. So I went home crying. My mom, who knows how to sew, had me put the dress on and she took in a couple of tucks in the back (the dress was too big on top of it), but she didn''t want to do a major overhall on it since she was afraid of ruining it. I was too embarrassed to go back to the seamstress. I had even gone to a couple of bridal stores with my mom and aunt looking for something off the rack (after I had just spent $1,000 on this dress!) and there was nothing that really could be fixed in a week.

So, I wore this dress to our wedding and I was miserable the whole time in it. I kept trying to forget about it, and we did have an awesome time, but I kept thinking how horrible I looked. Granted, I got a ton of compliments on it, and no one but my immediate family knew I was unhappy with it, but I did not feel like a radiant bride.

Hang in there! Maybe your seamstress will get it right. And I agree - bring someone with to support you.

Renee, oh, I am so sorry to hear that you are unhappy...to hear that any of you are unhappy or have been unhappy is heartbreaking. I agree with everyone in trying to be patient and see how it goes for your next fitting. But I absolutely would agree that if you are unhappy, you should SAY SOMETHING!! Don''t just grin and bear it. For as much money as we spend on these wedding dresses and wedding plans in general, and for all the stipulations that get put on us as the bride (can''t return, can''t change, can''t get our money back, penalities, whatever else I forgot), we should have our stipulations too, right?!?! Keep your chin up and definitely keep us posted on how it goes.

Thanks for the support guys, I feel better. I tried the dress on again last night and it is ok. Not great but ok. I wish that I could go to the Salon and get a new dress but my wedding is on Saturday and it took me almost 4 months to get my dress....
39.gif
I know that Ana ( the alteration lady) has done all she can. She left the sweetest message on my phone telling me that she is finding new material and is going to get the sides taken up as much as she can and that us girls are the most important thing in the world to her- she wants to make me very happy. I feel badly because in all reality it isn''t her fault- she can move mountains with her little needle. I think everything will be alright- I just need to focus on the big picture. It isn''t about the dress, the shoes, the music or the food- it is about the marriage and he loves me funky dress or not.

OOOH! Your wedding is saturday?! Like tomorrow? I knew it was SOON but I guess not how soon! I was thinking early september or so for you! Well congratulations!!!! You're almost there! Its great that your seamstress is really trying to make you happy. It may end up being perfect afterall!

Also- You are lucky that your seamstress is so willing to make changes to please you. When my best friend went in for her final fitting in her dress, she was not pleased with the way her chest looked in the dress..like kind of smooshed.. and the lady was like.. "Well I didn't touch the chest area.. its your bra.." Turns out that adjusting her bra actually DID fix the problem.. but the lady was just so nasty, and seemed as though even if there was a problem, she wasn't going to fix it!

I bet is looks AMAZING!! I bet that since you are so close to the wedding it''s hard to see anything as right or perfect - i know i feel that way and i have 2 weeks to go, and i can only imagine it will get worse!

but I will bet you anything your fiance''s heart will skip a beat when he see''s you in that gorgeous dress, so YOU GO GIRL And walk down that aisle like you are the SUPERMODEL PRINCESS THAT YOU ARE!

Oh MS- my wedding is the 13th not this Saturday- sorry I wasn''t clear.... I am lucky that Ana is so great- she hugged me and told me that she would work all night to get it right..... :)

I''m glad that Ana is so sensitive to your needs.
I have a feeling that you will really be pleased when she''s done. Don''t feel bad about feeling bad, though. This is YOUR time-- When you get a chance, post pics. We all want to ooh and ahhh over you.
Thinking about you and hoping it all works out!

I am so sorry....But I am sure everything will work out...

My friend had a similar problem when she got married (dress looked much diff than it originially did) but when her day came, she forogt all about it....

Once again, I am so sorry. I feel for you!
