What cut and setting do you like?

I would love an AVC cushion in a legacy type halo.

Or if you have already had some input into the ring what is it like?

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

3 row pave engagement setting that goes 3/4th of the way around the band with a 2.5 round HOF diamond with matching w-band

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I am almost definitely getting an AVC in Brian Gavin's Novela setting. We were going to buy the ring this winter, but we have decided that we would rather have a shorter engagement (1 year instead of 2), and are now waiting until next winter... unless I get too excited and change my mind of course. :naughty:

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I keep going back and forth between an AVC and a RB. I have watched Jon's videos thousands of times to help me decide and I still can't! I just really love them both. I definitely want a solitaire. I love the BGD Grace and the BGD tapered classic Tiffany as well (clearly I haven't decided if I want 4 prong or 6 prong if I go with a round). I haven't decided if I want YG or WG. BF is getting YG for his wedding band, but I'm not sure I like the look of YG for a solitaire. I haven't decided if I would rather have a smaller diamond with high color or a larger diamond with lower color. Can you tell I'm horrible at making decisions!?

BF and I have another ring shopping trip planned for the end of October. I hope to try on a cushion shape there to see if I like the way the shape looks on my hand. I will also definitely be trying on 4 prongs and 6 prongs, and YG and WG, and big and small diamonds in lots of different colors. Hopefully, the trip will help to clear up some of these decisions for me!

:wavey: Another AVC vote here! I'm still very attracted to ovals, and a little attracted to emeralds, but that AVC just takes my breath away every time I look at it. It's the one cut that truly makes me appreciate how the stones behave with light.

I'm guessing that if I do the Michael B. petite lace, I'll set it with an oval. If I do a plain platinum band, then I'll set it with an AVC on its own. I don't plan to do a WB for either setting, but if I go the plain band/AVC route, I'll probably pick up about three more plain platinum bands in the same width as the ER band and just stack them all together.

The stone that SO and I keep visiting is a 1.60 OMC, K/L, VS1. I thought the lower colour would really bother me, but I honestly don't even notice it. The size and sparkle totally makes up for the lower colour and I think distracts you from it. I know I want to wear it every day and never take it off. There for I don't know what type of setting I would like, I don't want pave since I've heard stories on here about stones popping out, I don't want side stones since it could give away the K/L colour. I'm now thing I would like a 1.8mm band with a few small surprise diamonds around the gallery. As for a wedding band I would like very thin horizontally set emerald cut stones. I've never seen anything like this in real life though, so I'm assuming it would have to be custom. Does anyone know of a 1.8mm solitaire setting with only diamonds under the gallery?

This is the 1.60 OMC, the dimensions actually make it face up closer to a 2 carat since it's cut very shallow (130 years old). I'm wearing it in this picture with me everyday RHR's that are G/H in colour to compare (taken from iPhone). Ring Size 7.75, picture 2 is SO holding the ring.

I picked the setting, it's Tacori. I'll post a pciture later but I'm in the Health Science Library right now... super slow computers.

The stone shape I picked too, it's princess cut because I'm his little princess, oh that was really a bad joke : P

We picked one stone but he saw it again and changed his mind, he thought it was too small looking. Ugh. I think he's just dragging his feet now.

I waver between two styles of settings, but one thing remains the same, center stone has to me a Jeff White medium blue 8mmX6mm oval. If you go to his website you will also drool over the amazingness that is a jeff white sapphire.

Imagine this color and style cut as an Oval.

For settings, I'll send you to brilliant earth. I would just buy from BE if I hadn't run across Jeff!

btw. I love the diamond Glitz, it's amazing!

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I'm about 90% certain that I want a 1.5-2 round H&A in either a solitare setting or one with princess channels down the sides. I've looked in stores and all the pictures in the bling pages on this forum and I keep going back to the same couple of rings that I love! I personally really like Mark Morrell's work, but could settle for WF or BG.

Lots of AVC fans, admittingly, I had to look it up. I never really considered anything except the classic round so I wasn't sure what everyone was talking about!

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I'd like a unique ring and am mostly leaning towards bands only. I like mokume gane and think a thin mokume band with a thin micropave band next to it would be a simple, unusual and elegant combination.

Although, I've looked a bit and love some solitaire-type styles with sapphires as the middle stone, or sapphires in the setting - like this one from Tacori for which I was head-over-heels for about six months: http://www.tacori.com/Wedding-Rings/2518RD65. I went to a jeweler to see this setting in person and it is a work of art.

So...I'm really not sure! I'd be equally happy with either of those, as different as they are. ::)

My dream ring is also an AVC in a halo! I would actually love a stone that has a little warmth. I know most people don't like a warm stone in a halo but I happen to think it's beautiful especially with an AVC. It'll give the whole ring a very vintage look

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I have wanted SO many different styles over the years:

3-stone ring-- had that (with my first marriage), but was never happy with it. I thought the side stones made my center stone (RB) look small (it's 1 carat)

then i thought I wanted a halo, to make it look BIGGER. thank goodness i didn't get a halo/pave ring, I beat the HELL out of my rings-- just this weekend we went go-kart racing and who would have thought i'd bang around so much??

then i got hung up on the Tiffany Etoile, until I saw in person what a 1 carat etoile looks like --- WIDE and clunky

then I decided to say "to hell with it" and ordered the semi-bezel from BGD and truly do have the ring of my dreams! I don't even want a wedding band now--- this ring does it all for me!

(not that I would turn down a larger stone, but that's not in the cards, hehee)

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

We chose a 3 stone with a peachy coloured pear center and white oval sides- It's an unusual ring, but I love it.

Having now tryed on all the rings in the store where I work ( :naughty: ) I am more confidant with our choice but my upgrade dreams may have been dashed because all the realy BIG rocks just didn't look good on me ;(

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

Brian Gavin's halo that looks a lot like the legacy. Round 1.5c center stone.
And that is what I will have.
Expect pictures in June.
I am patiently waiting.

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

My FF and I have already picked out our diamond and setting, and he has the completed ring. I actually haven't seen the finished product yet, and won't see it until he proposes. I promised him that he could have that element of surprise, along with planning the surprise proposal (since I was involved in every step of the ring-buying process).

I knew that I wanted a sparkly princess cut. For my FF, it was really important to find a diamond that faces up white. Of course, this was important to me too, but he is more color-sensitive than I am - so we decided to go with the colorless range (especially since princess cuts tend to show more color in the corners). I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference in a 'G' or maybe even 'H', but I'm definitely not complaining, since I prefer that icy white look, too.

Oh, and as for the setting - I originally thought I wanted a three-stone, but after looking in person, I quickly discovered that I really prefer classic solitaires. Because of this, I'm so glad that I went to the stores with him. Before I went with him, he actually went to a few different jewelry store and talked to them about the three-stone Tacori setting that I saw online and thought I wanted. Luckily, he brought me in to confirm that I loved it in person, and we were both surprised that I didn't!

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

The ring my SO and I both agreed on (and love!) is a thick platinum band...almost cathedral style with diamonds under the center head equaling .15 ct tw. I love this superthick ring because I have large, basketball player hands! The diamond will be a 1.5-1.8 ct RB. He had the jeweler order three stones for us to look at--we're going Friday, and I just can't wait! =)

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I ended up with an AVC... in a BGD micro pave in yellow gold which I love  but haven't officially received as yet.
When we were discussing rings, we both agreed on yellow gold. I liked round, but BF preferred something a bit different, so the AVC was a great choice for us.

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

I'm not on the LIW list, but I'd like to play too! I'm hoping for a 1.75-2ct AVC/ERD chunky cushion with a single shared prong halo and shank that I have gotten custom quotes on from a few PS vendors. The setting I want kinda looks like the Memoire Purity but with a halo. BF really loved the Solasfera RBs, and I would be happy with one of those too, but in a square halo.

Re: Bored?? New Topic! Do you know what you want in an ering

We are going the custom route with the Tiffany Legacy with graduated side stones as the inspiration. The center will be a cushion cut of some sort, hopefully H or higher, VS2 or higher, I have no idea what size since I'm not allowed to see or pick out the diamond. I got one session with our jeweler to talk over likes and dislikes. I adore Asschers (FF doesn't like that they face up small) but I sent him this and told him he could pick any of these :naughty:
