I went dress shopping again yesterday and I ordered my dress, which is actually the first dress I tried on and the one I posted about a week ago. I tried on a bunch of different dresses, but the last dress I put on was the one I already liked, and that was it. It''s the dress. And I felt even better in it this time, still didn''t want to take it off after putting it on, and even found the veil that I think I might get.

They also had the dress in diamond white with pewter accents, which is the color I had planned on ordering it. Seeing it in the right color really helped and made me love the dress even more.

We got a really great deal on the dress, too. This place gives free alterations (all the standard stuff except for the bustle), and their price with alterations included was less than a hundred dollars more than the other place I went to that didn''t include alterations. Also, that price includes the matching jacket, which at the other place was not included at the lower price (price without jacket was $1050, price with jacket was around $1300 - we got it for $1128 with alterations and the jacket!).

(I originally intended to get it without the jacket, but the bridal shop wasn''t even sure that it COULD be ordered without the jacket (which is odd since the last place had different prices for with and without), but the price with the jacket was so cheap that I decided to just go with it and if I wear it, I wear it, if not, oh well. It might be nice for the reception since it will be outdoors (weather permitting) and may get a little cooler in the evening.)

But then it gets even better: the bridal shop is having a special Easter thing where you pick a plastic egg out of a basket which has a piece of paper inside giving you a discount on the dress or a free bustle. I got 15% off! Woo hoo! So the dress ended up being cheaper than the cheapest price I could find online, and I get alterations included.

I have better pictures of me in the dress, but here are the model pictures first.

Here''s the dress on the model without the jacket:

Me in the dress. Unfortunately the bottom of the front of the dress wasn''t really fluffed out like it should be...

The front of the dress, a LOT closer, lol. I absolutely love all of the beading, especially at the bust.

And here''s the veil. At the bridal shop it is around $350, but I found it online for $270. I still feel guilty spending so much on a veil, but I may have to splurge on it. The veil was just amazing, and I think it really goes well with the dress. If I get it, I will have to figure out how to bustle it, because there is no way I''m going to spend so much on a veil if I''m only wearing it at the ceremony!

Last picture!

Congrats! You look so happy in it. I also cant believe your bargin price

. I agree the veil looks perfect with it. Can you bustle a veil?

Very pretty dress! It looks really great on you. You wouldn't happen to be at Maria's Bridal in Rochester, MI in those pics would you? Not to be weird but I tried on dresses there and if that's not where you are at, it looks a lot like it! Congrats on finding your dress! I am still looking for mine...

ETA: Love the veil too!

It''s beautiful, espressa! It looks great on you, and I love how it feathers out at the bottom.

Gorgeous Espressa! Such beautiful details and a great price, doesn''t the 15% off savings cover enough of the veil to make it a bargain price? just a thought, i love to rationalize expenditures.
Well done!

That dress is gorgeous!

That''s a beautiful dress!!

I love your dress and the veil is perfect!

I had tried on a veil similar to that one when I was dress shopping (6 yrs ago!) and I fell in love with it...but is was 700 bucks....anyways, my point in bringing it up was that it did bustle which I thought was fantastic! The best way I can describe it was that it was like a french bustle on a dress....it actually made it look like a fingertip length veil when bustled. I will go look for some pics to illustrate...

Thanks for all of the compliments!

RLG, apparently there is a way to bustle a long veil to make it shorter for the reception. I think a seamstress adds tiny hooks into it or something. Someone mentioned it here and I did a little looking online, and it seems doable.

Rachie, wow, you have a good eye! The pictures were indeed taken at Maria''s Bridal. I had a really great experience there. Good luck finding your dress!

EBree, I really love how it feathers out, too. Thanks!

swimmer, I hadn''t thought about rationalizing the veil price by thinking about the money I saved from the 15% off! Great idea, hehe.

Sabine, and SarahLovesJS, thank you!

Sophie, if you could find pictures of a bustled veil that would be great! I''ve been looking for some online but haven''t had a ton of luck. Also, thanks for confirming that bustling a veil can be done!

Gorgeous dress and it''s very flattering on you!

Congratulations! The dress looks really fabulous on you! The detailing is amazing!

I love your dress! It looks wonderful on you!

Thanks sera, SuLi and Maisie!

I had a bit of a freak out yesterday as I was looking online at Maggie stuff and saw some size charts that were different than the ones they had at the bridal shop. It turns out that there is a size chart for Maggie''s that is for their 2005 and older dresses, and a different one for the newer ones. The bridal shop had told me I needed a 16 (the sample was a 12 and I didn''t really think I needed two sizes bigger but I went along with it), but by the new size chart I should be a 14, not a 16. So I called to have them check and it turns out I was right, they had ordered the wrong size! They fixed it now but it would have been really annoying to have them have to alter the dress to make it an entire size smaller...

When I called I also found out that my dress wasn''t going to be in until the beginning of September

, which is cutting it a little close in my mind but she assured me that would be plenty of time to get all of the alterations done. For anyone planning to buy a Maggie for a wedding this fall I would suggest you buy the dress right away, because they really seem to be taking a long time now. I''m glad I ordered my dress when I did!

That is a simply gorgeous dress!! It looks fabulous on you! I love the way it fans out too. It''s a very special dress!!

Beautiful gown....looks fantastic on you.
