Alright, I figure now is the best time figure this out seeing as how I have 6 possibly 7 weddings to attend this summer.

What gift do I buy for the bridal shower? The registry was included with the invite, so do I buy from the registry for the shower. Do I buy from the registry for the shower and the wedding? Or do I not buy from the registry for the shower?

I want to make sure I get this right since my first shower is coming up in less than a month.

Thanks in advance!

Hi pinkstars!

I think it all depends on what''s the norm where you are.

Where I''m from, usually, people only buy one wedding gift - if they are invited to the bridal shower, they bring their one gift to the shower, and it''s usually a registry purchase.

I know lots of people from other parts that bring a registry gift to the shower and a gift of money to the wedding...I guess it''s all relative to where you''re from and what''s the "norm"....

I usually buy an inexpensive gift off the registry for the shower ($20-30) and then a more expensive gift from the registry ($80-100) for the wedding. But I agree with Cleopatra that it depends on where you live. I''m in a part of the country where it''s all about gifts -- almost nobody gives cash for the shower or the wedding.

I always buy something off the registry for the bridal shower. I usually spend betwen $70 and $100 depending on who it is. I figure the reason a bride creates a registry is because these are things she needs and wants so I don''t like to veer off and do my own thing too often. I may attach a cute book from B&N with the gift from the registry....something related to their honeymoon destination....like a traveler''s guide to Aruba or something like that. For the wedding I always give cash(at least enough to cover my plate). I''m from NYC.
