My bridal shower was this past Saturday so I am getting ready to begin thank you cards. Some guests wrote to both of us in the cards;however, 95% of the guests wrote only to me. Not trying to be too technical but should I sign the thank yous with my name only or with my name and my fiance''s name?

THANKS!

Technically, it''s never proper to sign for anyone else in a letter, including thank you cards. Miss Manners says something funny about how it''s a sliippery slope and you may find yourself signing letters from Fido the Dog one day, too.

Sign the cards yourself, and your FI should send a separate card if he wants to thank them, which would of course be nice.

When my MOH was married, she would sign her thank you cards alone, but in the last sentence of the body of the note she would write, "FI joins me in my thanks." I thought that was a graceful way for her to include her FI without actually signing his name.

hehe - this makes me laugh since i sign all three of our names allll the time on family birthday cards and such. and by ''all three of us'' i mean: myself, my fiance, and our beagle! a slippery slope indeed.

Yeah, I think my family has slipped down the slope and is stuck in the canyon because not only do we sign cards for Georgia our dog, at this point my Grandmother sent Georgia a birthday card! Haha. It's kind of a running joke, not to mention Georgia is like my little sister.

ETA: Sorry for not answering your question! I like the idea of saying FI joins in thanks, that seems graceful to me also.

I signed them just me, but in the body of the email mentioned "S and I will enjoy using (insert gift here) in our new home."

I love it! My grandmother addresses cards to my doggies, too. It may not be proper, but it sure is cute!
