yay! We won''t be married by Christmas, but we live together and we''ll be in our new townhouse and we''re going to get a tree! This will be my first tree seeing as how I''m Jewish, but I''m really excited.

I love hearing about everybody''s bridal smiles.

Robbie - your first holiday, in your own home, with your DH - is really sweet.
I''m definitely looking forward to that, and starting our own traditions.
Having our own house rules!

My sweetie refered to me a couple years ago as his "wife" - now at the time we weren''t even engaged, but it made me smile - though at the time, I said "Whoa! You skipped a few steps buddy!"

Scintillating...

robbie - I had a Jewish friend in grade school who always loved Christmas trees. I invited him over to decorate our tree, but he felt too guilty about it... the funny part is, I always grew up w/a tree but our family was decidedly non-religious... either way I don''t care, I just love the holiday traditions, I think anyone who wants one should have a tree! Yes, it has more meaning for us Christians, but geez, it''s just a tree.

Reminds me of Sex and the City, when Charlotte converts to Judaism and has her ''last'' Christmas tree. That always cracked me up.

You guys are going to think I''m SO weird, but my FI and I were talking tonight, about life, work and junk, etc. He''s an attorney and was talking about drafting a will for someone, and he told me that we need to draft a will together... and it made me smile. It made me smile to think of our whole life stretched out in front of us, children, and homes, and vacations, work, comedy & tradegy - life - together. It just reminded me of how much I want to spend my whole life with this man. It was nice, weird but nice.

Scintillating...

Scintillating -- I totally understand how you feel! FI and I just had the big "life support/extreme measures/organ donation talk..." and a part of me was thrilled to know that he was the one I was having this talk with.

I''m going through a lot of fun LASTS this week...

For example, today was the LAST time I''ll fill my gas tank as a single gal (I drive a Hyundai and can get 2 weeks from 1 tank)

And today is the LAST Thursday my students will call me MISS -- today is also my last Thursday at work before I get married.

I''m trying to use up all my goofy school stationery that has my maiden name on it...

This is also the LAST 10 days of my life I will not wear a wedding ring. PERMA BLING!

And, hopefully, this is the last time I will have to make a seating chart. For anything. Ever.

Well, there''s always your anniversary soirees! 25, 40, 50... big parties!

Scintillating -

That''s an important one! FI and I have talked about wills and living wills as well and we''ve also talked about guardianship with our nieces and nephews as last year my brother asked me to be the guardian for my neice if something happened to him and his wife. It was an important decision because my neice is disabled and will need lifelong care, but FI and I (before he was my FI!) talked about it and agreed that it was something we were both willing to take on if it became necessary. That was a very sweet conversation and definitely made me feel close to him.

My FI is excited about refiniancing the house in both our names (it''s just in his now), combining car insurance policies (not so great for me as for him...), picking and choosing better credit card offers, and applying my home business to his taxes. Oh, and he will not shut up about shopping for who has better health insurance during open season. He''s an accountant so this financial stuff is his cake.

Two words -- open seating.

Although I love the idea of having a 25th anniversary!

ha, this reminds me of when i became engaged and FI and i were getting picked up at the airport from our vegas vacation. his SIL picked us up and congratulated me saying welcome to the family mrs. hislastname. inside i was warm- though it did surprise me. she admitted that when she first put my name in her phone she had my name as myfirstname hislastname. she said she didn''t want to change it later. i guess everyone around **knew** from the beginning as well.

My parents would never let me have a tree when I lived with them. I was always so jealous of my cousins who are half catholic. They''ve always had a hanukkah tree.

I''m big on celebrating little silly things. This Friday will be the ''three months until we''re married'' countdown, and I won''t get to see him since I''m in Cali and we''ll miss this weekend seeing one another. I''m thinking of having something silly sent to his work *the middle schoolers love to tease him about this stuff* in place of me being there. Anyway, the best thing for the YAY factor that we''ll be married soon is when I think about every celebration, birthday, anniversary of every silly thing we can think of, every holiday, we''ll be together, instead of separated. It makes me smile and thank God for the gift of living life with this man.

Yes, won''t it be fun to buy *husband* cards for holidays, birthdays, and just because? eeek!! Fun times!

Robbie, I thought we''d be finding pictures of Miss Sum, too! Smiling it up! Haha.
*gosh* You know.. we were married in August.. Steve''s bday was in September.. do you realize I didn''t even THINK of getting him a husband card? I just realized RIGHT NOW that I could have.. *doh!*
23.gif
What a dolt.. sheese.

Haha, SanDiegoLady, luckily, you have MANY more birthdays to come, so you can make up for it.

Today is our 3 months till we''re married countdown. He''ll be getting a card on that, too. They don''t make them, but well, I found one with a cartoon mouse on it holding a big sign that says "YIPPPEEE!" the inside is blank. Seemed to me it was made to express the excitement of a countdown to a union!

I just went into the rather high-end jewelry store near my office because I need to get a necklace repaired. The lady offered to clean my ring for me so I handed it over and looked around. I was mainly looking at the wedding bands, but then I found myself in front of the e-ring case and said to the lady seated there, "wow, so many sparkles!" and she said "are you going to be getting one soon?" and I beamed "I just got one!!!" and she said "oh... " like she was dissapointed I wasn''t a customer, but she pulled herself together to say "congratulations" and when the lady came out with my clean ring they both oooed and awwed over it and asked where I got it. They were nice enough and it is close to my office so I''m sure I''ll be popping in for some repairs and cleaning, as needed, but when I walked out of the shop, I thought to myself....

"I no longer have to pine over engagement rings because now I have one and I''m getting married!!!" Big smile on my face!

I had a *wonderful* bridal smile this weekend: I was surprised with a bridal luncheon/bridal shower with my family and friends here in Cali. It was a total surprise, at my favorite Chinese restaurant in town, and everything was set up so pretty! AND, I finally got to know who bought my first item off the Target registry, because I was *so* sure no one had bought anything yet, as no shower''s had been planned or anything yet.

It was a great surprise, and I found out that my fiance knew about it weeks ago! The stinker!

It was just one of those, "Yay! This is real and I''m finally going to marry the man I''ve loved for so long, and whom I''ve wanted to be with. Forever. It''s real! Yay!!"

I JUST bought the very first birthday card FOR MY HUSBAND.
It was really sweet. I usually bypass cards like that, but for this
event, I just HAD TO!

Oh, Tybee! Congrats on your first "husband" card!!!

My boss just approved my time off for my wedding next year! Not like she would have turned me down, but still, it felt like a hurdle was cleared! It felt really good to block off all that time on our office calendar and say "Summer-WEDDING!!!"

Yay Fisher!!! YAY for surprise showers!!! That sounds like so much fun!!!

This is a bit silly but... This past weekend my fi came back from getting gas with beer from Kona, Hawaii. He was so thrilled he found a beer from where we''re getting married!
5.gif
We both smile everytime we see the bottles!

Tomorrow my wedding day will be on the "10 day forcast" and earlier today I filled out a survey as "married" because, close enough, right?

bridal smile of my day: i am redesigning the company's business cards. i got to type out my new married name on mine. can't wait to order them!

My bridal smiles from the week-end: I got two engagement presents! A neat leather organizer from my grandmother to help me in my planning, and an absolutely gorgeous cross-stitching kit from my mother. I''ve been doing cross-stitch for about 5 years now, it really helps me unwind and I love seeing my finished works! Here''s a picture of what it will look like once I''m done (but with our names and date):

And it''s funny to see Christmas tree talk on here, because Christmas trees are a huge tradition in my family. My parents have been giving a special ornament to me and my two siblings every Christmas since birth, and they try to find an ornament that corresponds to something important that happened during the year. Guess what ornament I found in my parents'' closet while looking for clean bedsheets? This one!

I''ve never seen Gone with the Wind, but I think it''s quite the coincidence that Hallmark made a proposal ornament this year, the exact year we got engaged!

I love my family...

FI and I got a postcard in the mail today from Best Buy thanking us for our recent washer and dryer purchase and it was addressed to "FI" & "Me" "FI''s Last Name" It''s the first time I''ve seen anyone write my name with his last name (other than my own notebook doodles
2.gif
) It made me so happy!

I thought of another one. We got a postcard from our Vet for our two cats for a check-up reminder. They are addressed to their first name my last name since I am always the one to take them to the vet. DH picked up the postcard and asked if I would change their last name to his.

He was so cute about it!

Oh Tacori, that''s adorable! I jokingly called my cat Max [hislastname] after we got engaged, but M said he wasn''t adopting the cats. Maybe he''ll change his mind!

I love being introduced as his wife. And when we are out with friends and I see him shine... it fills me with pride to think that he''s my husband. I love seeing him wear his ring... and I love how he loves to introduce me to people as his wife. It''s just amazing. I could burst with pride sometimes!

I know! It didn''t even dawn on me. They are his cats when they are sweet and cuddly and mine when they throw up on the carpet or do something bad
20.gif
But he loves them as much as I do. They are like our kids.

I''m working from home today and I just made a telemarketer laugh when she asked if I was "Mrs. Hislastname" and I said "not yet."

It was my gut reaction and it was cute!

I then told her I would not give money over the phone, even it WAS for kids with cancer. I hate telemarketing calls, charity or otherwise!

We''ve been married 5 years and I still get the warm fuzzies every time he refers to me as his "wife." I don''t think that EVER gets old!

We had a housewarming party yesterday. We were going to get a sandwhich tray from the local supermarket, but when I checked the price I suspected it was ridiculously high so I called FI to have him check Subway''s prices so I could know for sure. Subway was about half of the price so I decided to go there. I stopped right after the supermarket on my way home and told them I needed a party tray for 22. The woman said "Oh, did your husband just call?" I could''ve corrected her, but instead I just smiled and said "yes, we''re having a housewarming party."

When I got home I told FI that the woman had thought that we were married and he said "Oh, that''s because I told her my wife would probably be stopping by later."

He still gives me butterflies

I thought I'd bump this up...

J started calling me his wife in private... I love it.
30.gif
So I've started calling him my husband in private too, and I'm starting to have a hard time not calling my husband in public or when I talk about him!
26.gif

ETA: He keeps calling me his girlfriend when he talks to other people, though... Silly man.
20.gif
I love him anyway!

That''s so cute, Anchor!

I had one this weekend... we were wrapping up Christmas presents and even though I did most of the shopping, we were trying to decide what presents were from which one of us and he said "Just put both our names on everything..." and it was sort of an "aha moment" in that indeed, we are a family. Next year I won''t even have to wonder... It was kind of weird writing "Mother" on the presents for his mom when I''m used to writing her name. I don''t think I''ll EVER call her mother, but I can write it as long as I write his name first!
