Uh-uh not me! I've actually been eating like a HORSE. I've put on about 4 pounds since I got back from Peru. OK, so I was a bit emaciated when I got back. But I'm still 2 pounds over my normal weight now, and gaining! Must...stop...sabotaging myself!

I think it's the stress. Anyway, I'm trying to pull myself together and go to the gym for extra cardio sessions too. But as long as I stop gaining, 2 lbs isn't going to kill me.

Oh, and my project of toning and shaping my arms for the wedding is coming along! I'm not exactly buff, but I definitely think there's been improvement. It's fun to see.

you''re ahead of me - i had lots of good intentions to work out but hasn''t happened. ah well :)

I am always for a woman getting herself in the healthiest weight for her body...but, I would never recommend anyone put themselves under the stress of losing a massive ammount of weight before her wedding!

I have always been a thicker woman...and usually walk around with a few extra pounds on my frame...but I''ve never felt the stress of losing weight...I think you should be comfortable, and stop there.

I''m really wanting to lose about 8-10 lbs...mostly around the hips, but that''s not how weight loss works. You can''t choose where the lbs come off! I basically just want to feel good on my wedding day and honeymoon (bikini...hello!).

I just want to tone my arms so I don''t cringe when I see the photos!

Ha ha ha...after seeing the backs of my arms in some of those dress trial pictures, I am in the same boat! It doesn''t matter HOW skinny you are...no toning shows!

I''ve also started using LOTS of lotion on my elbows, too...nothing like scaly elbows in wedding pix! Yikes!

Courtney, I believe you can somewhat spot reduce if you have a balanced intake and the proper amounts of certain foods.

I have cut out sugar, refined white flour, pasta and really limit my fat. I drink lots of water too and take a good multivitamin daily. I work out moderately (weights, pilates and some cardio). I have lost proportionally and see it coming off everywhere. But, I know the heavier places which have more to give up, will adjust and lose more if I stick with it. This is how I lost many pounds off baby weight with all three of my kids. Then the toning can seriously start. I am not on anything extreme or faddish, and as a result, I can live with this, with occasional splurges. It really works for me, the portion control and types of foods I eat.

spot reducing is a big myth!!
ladies, if you want to read an excellent website that focuses on women and fitness, here it is:
http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php
it was created by a woman who was lazy and now loves fitness. she offers unbiased information, she does not endorse ''miracle products'', and she dispels a lot of myths women have about weight training, such as ''bulking up'' and ''toning''.
anyway, enjoy if you want. it''s a great source of information.

Certain foods sit on the body in certain ways. If you eat an excess of them, you will gain weight in a certain way. I have spot reduced before after childbirth and saw a big difference in how things fit me. I am not saying you can just do the one area alone all the time, but by balancing my intake of certain things, and avoiding things I had been over eating prior, I saw the weight come off more in certain spots so the end result was proportional versus everything shrinking but the bigger spots staying bigger and not in proportion.

fat is fat. that''s all there is to it. you can''t diet and exercise to lose it, but you cannot tell your body where it will lose it from.

obviously i meant you CAN exercise or diet to lose it. i''m tired.

I need to start a cardio routine so bad. I am gaining weight and I am sabotaging everything by eating anything I feel. After dinner tonight, I told myself I would not have dessert and then I turn around and eat a cinnamon bun. EEK, make it stop.

I had pizza last night. At least it was thin crust tomato. Blah.

I keep telling myself, this is the time to be motivated to get back into college shape. After I got a desk job and moved to the city I''ve gotten out of shape since I''m not as active as I used to be. But, it is so hard for me to actually do it.

My mom keeps talking about getting in shape and dieting, etc. I know she means well, but it is uber frustrating to hear other people insinuate that you should be getting into shape, as if I didn''t notice myself. I was excessively thin in high school, then I went to college and got to what I consider to be my ideal weight. Now I''d probably like to lose about 15 lbs.

And it seems EVERY wedding picture I look at the brides are like a size 0 and look absolutely perfect. Spanx can''t be that amazing

I keep setting starting points for myself (once the new year starts, once I go back to work, once I go on my trip back home, etc) but those dates just keep coming and going with no change. One of the most annoying things is that FI is trying to gain weight for the ceremony! I, of course, think he''s crazy, but apparenty he''d rather have some more muscle for the big day. Sooo, here we are living together, eating together and he''s trying to put on weight while I''m trying to take it off. I know that it is technically more difficult to put on the weight physically, but man, it sure would be nice to have to FORCE myself to eat more to reach my goal

Especially because I am a total foodie (love food network, love to cook new things, I subscribe to food and wine, etc) and he would be fine eating Kraft Mac and Cheese or Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup every night!!

LOL! I just tried to go buy some SPANX last night before trying on dresses tomorrow...did you know Nordstrom doesn''t even carry this stuff in size SMALL??? I want it for the smoothing benefits under whatever dress I choose, but now I won''t know what it looks like until I order some online and give it a whirl! I guess they figure small girls don''t need it???

I am a total foodie, too...I am addicted to Food Network, Top Chef, Iron Chef, Hell''s Kitchen, etc...I can''t get enough, though I''ve been known to live off of EasyMac and grilled cheese every now and again myself! Top Ramen, anyone?
