Hi all! I am swapping out my traps due to color and wondering if they would be better as step cut instead of brilliant. I have to make a decision by this afternoon so any answers appreciated! I am thinking the step cut might give a better contrast to the center.

I don’t know, but I too have an oval diamond and I have been wondering the exact same thing about step cut side stones. So I look forward to any responses you get here!

Your set is beautiful!

I love love love trapezoids! But I’m
Not sure I’m loving it with your oval. Can you post more close-up’s?

I think keep them brilliant cut. Step cut traps will introduce a discordant shape - you've got three different shape diamonds on your ring and if they're all brilliant cut it works but I think it would not if the traps were step cut.

Thanks everyone! We held up some step cut stones and they really looked good! Since the whole ring is brilliant cut stones it adds some contrast and visual interest. The jeweler is going to order new brilliants and step cuts and we will look at them in person before setting them!

Do you have two rings with oval diamonds??? Because I was just about to reply that pears are the best sides for an oval, and then I saw your avatar picture!
