Beautiful stone and ring!
I''m sure Freke can really add to this, but in my limited experience, after wearing my spinel every day, I have not noticed any scratches. There could be (haven''t louped it), but I find it to be in really good condition still. As with any stone, you should be careful, even with diamond. However, I love spinel for that added durability.Date: 5/1/2010 11:15:47 PM

I was wondering if a spinel scratches easily? I understand that its 8 on the moh scale, I only wears it occasionally and certainly not when I am doing any chores. But the high setting just makes me feel that I have to be extra careful when I am wearing it, is this fear uncalled for? By the way, before setting this spinel, I had dropped it twice ( about a meter off the ground) and that is not a single chip or scratch..phew.......
Hi velourial tks for the reply, I guess it looks bigger cos I have really tiny fingers My ring size is only a size 3.5. here are a few more picts!Date: 5/2/2010 2:36:25 AM

oh wow I just love that! The portuguese cut really works with that stone. Would love to see photos of it showing the color shift you describe. I like it on its own but looks good with the wb, too. DEFINITELY doesn''t look too small.

Ditto TL on scratching. I haven't noticed any on mine either. The only damage my stones have sustained would be a chip on the girdle of one of mine, but that can happen with ANY stone, so whatever.
I prefer it alone as well.
Thanks! I have absolutely no idea.Date: 5/2/2010 3:05:15 AM

Frekechild-wow I saw your cs solitaire that is a cool collection! By the way, can I know the cause for the chip on the girdle? TIA
You are most welcome!Date: 5/2/2010 1:10:55 PM
