I know someone used vistaprint''s free business cards as STDs but i can''t find the thread where it was mentioned. i''d love to hear how that worked out.
what kind of envelopes did you use? did you put them on a backing? they have a really cute design that goes with our colors, and what could be better than free???

here is what i am thinking about...maybe i would add a brown backing and a ribbon to fancy it up?

did I hallucinate that this was mentioned? maybe I am going crazy.
i won''t be offended if you think it is too chintzy.

Those are adorable if you can figure out how to send them...

there are actually envelopes available in this size (http://paperpresentation.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MLTMTLLC) though I''m not sure about the colors.

i was more thinking of gluing it to a backing (this would also cover up the "free business card" logo on the back) in brown, maybe something that would end up around the same size as a response card? then i could use that size of envelope without it seeming silly.

I think maybe postcards, not business cards? I know Robbie did that. I used the free postcards for the out of town bags and was happy with the quality.

I wonder if you could buy a roll of magnetic backing. Then you could paste them to the magnetic backing (taking up the entire back of the card) and then they would be cute magnets. It must come in a roll or sheets or something around that size, since I have gotten magnetic business card size stuff from businesses before.

I think they''d be pefect size for a magnet, who wants something huge on their fridge.

If you still wanted to put them on a larger paper backing, you could get that tack-sticky stuff and tack them to the backing, so people could remove the magnet.

I know you meant "Save the Dates" when you put STDs, but in my end-of-the-business-day-yaay-its-Friday stupor, I kind of sat and stared at the topic subject trying to associate business cards with sexually transmitted diseases and wondered how on earth they were a part of wedding stuff. LOL! Thanks for the laugh (even if it was inadvertent!)

Look up my STD thread. I printed them on business cards too. Made them into magnets, and put them on a card. I have detailed directions.

Reminds me of the first time I saw STD on a thread here! I''m thinking "What????"

I''m not sure how many you need, but Vistaprint also offers postcards for free. You can get 100 regular sized postcards for free. Make sure you are on their e-mail list. They send this offer out on a regular basis.

I use vistaprint all the time for my business, and have been really happy with them. I''ve only had one problem (their were streaky lines across my postcard). I called them up, and they immediately sent replacements and they expedited the shipping too.

Good Luck - I love the deisgn you chose!

I love your take on the Save The Date card! I think it would look amazing if you matted it with a shimmer brown and did a lime/green ribbon! And that is so simple to do!

I''ve included the link to the free business cards for you...or for anyone wondering more about this service and product.

VistaPrint - Free Business Cards, Guide, Tips & More! - VistaPrint

I have used Vista Print for my business cards, and the quality is great! Although, I do always do a delux card and my employer does pay for them...I''m only concerned with the "finish" of the business card...will they be shiny, or flat? I''m not sure if that will matter to you, but it''s something to consider.

As far as envelopes go...if you cut the paper you select to mount the STD card on, you could easily cut the paper to the dimension of the envelope, which you can purchase at any craft/scrapbook/card making store!

Good luck!

Thanks!! I wondered what I was missing!

IHC -- that is just along the lines of what I was thinking. Given that the shipping is $5-10 I''m tempted to buy them just to try it out with some different backings. I also love Tacori''s take on this -- though I do want to make sure that at the end of the day we come in under the $2/pp cost of the ones that match the invites I''m pretty sure we''ll go with (the arbor invitations from whiteaisle). I will check out the postcard option also -- that might be even better and would give me the opportunity to customize (based on what robbie did before). I saw some cool tree-branchy graphics on istockphoto (thanks Mandarine for the tip on that!).

enf, did you find my thread? I did a search and couldn''t find it (I know there have been some problems). Mine weren''t that much. It might have said in the thread and they could have been done cheaper (the envelopes were more than regular ones). Making them into magnets were really easy. Mine looked very similar to my invites.

Tacori, I did find your thread. I loved yours! I don''t think we will be including a picture or all that much information -- we will probably just be directing folks to our website (and getting in phone contact with the 2 or so relatives who don''t use the internet).
In the meantime, I took a look at the vistaprint postcards, and found a design I think I like even better (and they are 25% off, so only about 19 + shipping for 100)...

If I do just that on the front I would do the website info on the back...

OR...I could still put it on a backing with a ribbon or some such, but then I''d have to put more info on the front, like this. Maybe either way I would do the magnets too -- I''m finding that sometimes vistaprint offers magnets with patterns you can''t find in their regular pages if you try to start an order for something else with the same pattern...much to consider -- thanks for your input!

OMG they have matching envelopes that are half orange and half branchy on front and back. oooohhhh....

I used Vistaprint''s free postcards for our save the dates. They turned out great, and there was no vistaprint logo added to them anywhere. I posted the design I made here. They showed up the same week I placed the order, and I couldn''t be happier.

LC those are beautiful! I was going to start from scratch with a design, but I''ve liked some of ther stock designs so much I''m not sure I''ll bother with it. How did you make sure that there was no vistaprint logo?

The postcard design I posted above I think really goes well with our theme and color scheme -- everything will be brown with oranges and golds and deep reds, and the theme is all about trees and parks. I''m going to show FI and see what he thinks -- I''m not sure we could do much better than this!

Those are cute! If you wanted to still do the magnet attach them to the postcard (and get those cool envelopes!) The glue dots work great. Also I am sure you read I bought magnets at office max. They were nice and thick (actually can hold up paper!) We saw our magnets and most of our guests houses which was pretty cool.

ETA: you just pay a little more to have them remove their logo.

I didn''t pay anything extra to not have a logo put on them. I actually never saw any option for that as I was ordering. Maybe that''s only if you use one of their designs? I ordered ours with a free postcards deal I got from their mailing list and kept my fingers crossed that there would be no logo on them. I figured that at worst I was out the shipping costs if the logo was so awful I wouldn''t want to send out the cards. I know I''ve read of people ordering stuff and vistaprint''s logo being on it unexpectedly, so I really don''t know what the difference is. Luck of the draw? Specific product?

That is a fabulous idea. I need to send (just found out) STDs to Fi''s family. I like the post card ones too!

Anastasia -- can''t thank you enough again for recommending signing up for their email list. I just got a promo for free postcards AND free premium business cards, which means we can get the cards, envelopes and business cards to make magnets to stick on the cards (a-la-Tacori''s) for a ridiculous price, even with extras like color reverse sides. I just need to finish my designs and circulate to the families (since this will be the first wedding correspondence). Yay!!

Now the decision is what pattern to use for the magnet? I can do it to look either like the front or the back of the postcard. AND I can do it either horizontal or vertical!! So many choices...

PS, Gypsy, after all my wrangling with flowers and colors, I''m ending up going with something very like what you suggested. It took seeing the flowers IRL for me to "get" what the black magic roses would look like. Wow!!! I''m so excited for my flowers now!

I personally did not go the business card route and although some might view it as not proper etiquette, I think it is 100% fine.

why would it not be proper?

lady, I have always uploaded my own designs as well. Maybe they changed their policy.

enbc, I got the glue dots from Micheal''s. They were really easy to use!

tacori, i found the glue dots and they look like a fabulous product (and not expensive!). i think i''m going to go with something like this for the back (including magnet). thanks again for your ideas!!
