Hi all,

I just climbed mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and wanted something to remember the occasion. I have also loved gems / stones and thought a tanzanite would be perfect. Currently I have an opportunity to buy a tanzanite that is:

Color: bV exceptional+
Cut: excellent / princess
Carat: just over 2
Clarity: IF internal flawless
Natural no heating

Question: does this seem like a good investment gem for the future or more personal use such as a necklace? What price should I pay for it? How much growth can I get on it say in 5 years?

Many thanks in advance and welcome any feedback.

Congrats on climbing Kilimanjaro!

Buy it as a memento of your trip and not as an investment.

Hubby and I climbed Mt. K on our honeymoon years ago. Got a combo of altitude sickness and the GI effects of drinking contaminated water. Still made it to the top. Actually looked at a stone sold at the Mt. Kenya Safari Club. Very light in color and $$$. Hmmm a nice tanzy would make my memories more pleasant....

Bit the bullet and bought it. Hope it was a good choice...

Yeah that's what I was thinking.... maybe something to pass on in the future as well

Sorry to hear but well done on reaching the top! There were many 'licensed dealers' wanting my business but in the end I went for the safer option. Paid over the top probably but still glad I got one to mark this occasion!

It's beautiful. Will you have it set?
