I am working on a ring design for my little natural fancy green blue diamond. We've gone thru a couple of revisions and this is the latest. I think it looks pretty good, but I always have a hard time reading the fine details on CADs.

One thing I am not quite sure about is the gallery-suggestions? The inner halo of the ring is natural fancy intense pink diamonds in rose gold. The rest of the ring is platinum. Should I make the small pieces in the gallery rose gold -or since it's so small just keep it all platinum- or eliminate the small pieces all together?

Things that you can't tell from the CAD. The milgrain goes all around the pears and french cuts (says princess on the CAD-not sure why and I've asked about that). The other outer halo diamonds have the milgrain just scalloped around the outer edge.

thanks for any thoughts or comments. =)

Picture of my fancy green blue diamond which only measures 4.01 x 4.04-so tried to find a design that would give a bit of finger coverage without overwhelming the little blue.

I can't help with the CADs other than to say it looks good to me. This is going to be gorgeous!

What are all the smaller stones going to be? Which ones are the pink ones?

thanks, elle.

The Inside halo small stones are natural fancy intense pink diamonds in rose gold. Everything else is colorless diamonds in platinum.

I first have to say I LOVE your diamond! Really. Truly. It's gorgeous! I can only hope to one day have one like that. Onto the CAD ... I don't think I see where the two pink rounds will go. And what did you mean by eliminate the small pieces all together? I think the gallery looks fine.

May I ask what your style is? Can you show us a couple examples of your rings?

So the top of the ring is platinum and the gallery itself is rose gold. Is that right?

If you wanted the gallery a bit more open, you could remove the areas I drew in yellow. As for metal choice, you'll really be the only person who sees it. If the diamonds on the donut are indeed white, then I'd probably stick with platinum for the gallery, but that's just me. :)

I like this idea, for the gallery. Easier cleaning!

Oh my, I guess I didn't describe the ring very well-lol.

Ok, let me try again. The 2 intense pinks in my photo are not part of the ring- they are just 2 intense pinks I have for color reference. The ring has the blue diamond in the center probably with platinum prongs (I will let David decide on which color prongs work best). Then the small inner halo are 1.1mm fancy intense pink diamonds in 18kt rose gold. Everything else is platinum and colorless diamonds.

Sparkles, the pieces in the gallery that you highlighted were not in the original inspiration pics I sent-David just added them on this revision. My thoughts were also to remove them, or alternatively make them in rose gold so that there is an element of rose gold somewhere else in the ring than just the inner halo. But like you said the gallery will not really be seen, so probably just easier to keep it all in platinum or remove them. I will ask David if there is a reason he added the extra pieces this time around.

I hope I've explained it a bit better. Does that make sense now? Any other thoughts?

Oh, and what is my style? Artsy, vintage, whimsical, with shabby chic type decor

Yes- those pieces were not in my original inspiration and David just added them on the last revision- I will ask if there's a reason he thinks they are needed. Otherwise, I agree they will make cleaning a bit more challenging

It was probably my lack of caffeine brain as opposed to your post!

Everything makes a lot more sense now. Thank you. :) I'd probably do the main prongs in platinum but that's just me. I think I've addressed everything else. Oh, and the reason I asked about your style is because I wasn't quite sure about the milgrain on top of everything you've got going on. Sometimes I like to see a ring before that's added, if I'm on the fence, but it seems to go with your vibe so I'd keep it. :)

No, I'm sure it was my post that didn't explain it too well the first time since elle was also confused and I think as long as the milgrain is delicate I'll be happy =)

Agree. :)

the pink diamonds bring out the blue so much. I personally think just leave out the rose gold and keep it all in platinum, it will be more simple and timeless and classic that way.

thanks, I understand what you're saying, but we will need to leave the pink diamonds set in rose gold-or else they barely show as pink. I would need to go to vivid pink to set them in platinum and really show as pink- and unfortunately that is cost prohibitive. :$$):

I do think just leaving the rest in platinum is the way to go!!!!

This is going to be GORGEOUS! Sorry, I'm horrible at reading CADs so I don't have much advise, but wanted to say that I'm excited to see this one when it's finished!

thanks, lovedogs-glad I'm not the only one who has trouble reading CADs! I've given David the go ahead so I'm pretty excited. He said the longest time will be waiting for the french cuts. Hoping it will be finished sometime mid March!!

So 2 tone with rose gold and platinum? I think the rose gold will make the pinks look pinker AND bring our more of the blue diamond.
As for that piece added by David, I'm wondering whether it is needed for structural support? If so, perhaps it can be simplified.

Chrono- yes, 2 tone rose gold and platinum. After looking at photos of several rings with similar colored diamonds- almost all opted for a small row of pink diamonds in rose gold around the green blue diamonds. It really does enhance the blue diamond!! In contrast the rings I looked at without the pink row-the blues looked washed out. Chrono- what are your thoughts on the prongs? I'm still thinking platinum will be best.

As far as the gallery, after talking with David I am leaving it as is. He said the reason it took so long to get me this revision was working on the gallery to get the proportions and structure right. Those added pieces are really not going to be seen and since he felt they were needed I'm not going to bother with removing them. He also told me my ring will be cast in 6 parts to make sure he can make it as delicate as possible. =)

I think platinum prongs for the blue FCD will be nice (smooth transition of colours)
If it isn't a structural issue, you have no interest in simplifying it for ease of cleaning?

I'll ask again. My inspiration photo did not include those-only the other 4 petals. The first CADs also did not have them- but I changed the outer halo for this last round of CADs. There must be some reason he added them in this last revision, but if they are not needed I'll ask him to remove them. I do agree that it will be much easier to clean without.
