Here is the CAD picture of a setting I am working with WF for my tsavorite. This is a copycat of Art Nouveau''s stunning spinel ring made by Leon. Sorry about copying but I love the ring soooooo much!

Here are the CAD pictures. Is the center stone sitting too high? There is almost no room left to lower it without affecting other parts of the design. So I may leave it as.

One more view.

That was a high set design and you are right .. no room to lower it without changing the details.

The thing is if your heart is set on having a Art Nouveau Leon replica - I hope you won''t be disappointed. If you are ok with or want a bulkier look and more metal on the band ... then that is fine. But I have never see cad/cast come anything close to the original Leon in terms of how delicate it is and how little metal is shown on the pave. Heck, most of the other top custom handmade jewelers recommended on here can''t come close too. This design really needs that fine delicate touch to make the curves work .. just my two cents.

Yingh,
I didn’t want to reply but I know with CADs, time is of the essence. I hope you will repost this when version 2 is up and running. While I adore AN’s butterfly gallery Mahenge ring made by Leon, this one doesn’t have the same effect, probably because the cast method has its limitations. I agree that it is set quite high but there’s nothing to be done about it if you want to maintain the gallery design. What are the melee sizes? Can the metal in the gallery or overall be thinned out?

Personally, what bothers me isn''t exactly how high it is set, but that the height looks disproportionate to the width of the stone, giving it a skyscraper look (narrow and high

).

I am wondering if the bottom of the bow came down to the same level as the base of the basket, set into the side but only slightly in relief from it, not the full thickness of the bow, would it then be lowered my that much without greatly impacting the design. Also it appears taller in the cad since the prongs are sticking up past the stone like antennae. It wouldnt be like that irl. Still, it is tall!

I think if the stone was set E_W then the gallery would be able to be lowered by spreading the wings a little. Might make the split shank impossible.

For reference

I worked with WF to lower the center stone and here are the updated CAD renderings. What do you think?

I cannot say enough good things about White Flash. They are very patient and spent lots of time with me to get to this new version.

Yes, YES!!! Looks much less towering. Beautiful! Can''t wait to see the finished project!!

Please don't worry about your posts not being saved. If you help me to finalize the CAD, hey, the ring would be finished when PS 2 is up

I promise to post lots of pictures.

ETA: Uppy, thanks for your kind words!

I need more opinions, please!

I don''t think it''s ridiculously high. You should leave it as is, I think.

It seems that the band and the edges are more thick than Art Nouveau's setting, which is more delicate. I'm not sure, but if you're going for that delicate appeal, you might want it thinned out a bit??? Her's is also more rounded around the edges. I do like the lower look of the gallery though. The stone isn't sitting up as high.

i don''t think the CAD looks out of proportion nor do i think its too high. looks good to me. i like the pavillion and cutlet being open as well. but then i''m prejudiced as my stone sets very HIGH

personally, i''d leave it as is. looks great.
