How do they work? There are two bakeries that have been recommended to us. Can we go to cake tastings at both places or is that considered rude? (Should you only attend a tasting once you''ve committed to their bakery?) Please share your cake tasting experiences!!!! TIA!

I think you should have a tasting BEFORE you commit to them. Otherwise, how are you going to know that their cakes taste good? I would hate for you to commit to a bakery and then find out later that their cakes taste awful. I don''t personally think it''s rude to taste cakes from various bakeries. One, how are they going to know? and Two, it''s part of "shopping around for the best."

Most bakeries that do wedding cakes will have free or minimal cost tastings - I think most places expect you to taste at lots of places before making your decision. We tasted 4 before making our decision.

Enjoy it - this is one of the most fun parts of wedding planning, IMHO

Thanks girls! Now I can go tasting guilt-free. And I thoroughly plan on tasting as many as I can .

Oh wait, I have to fit into my wedding dress don''t I? OK, well so maybe I''ll spread out the cake tastings over the next couple of months.
