Hi,

I posted this in another forum but did not receive much response. Someone suggested I post my question here, so here goes. :)

Thanks in advance. :)

After much lurking I bought a beautiful stone from Whiteflash. Fast forward 4 years and I''m divorced and looking to reset my stone.

Caleb Meyer designs were recommended to me. I''ve checked out his website and love his work. I may have found a setting I really like.

It''s a little scary to mail my diamond to someone I don''t know. :)

It seems like a lot of people here have worked with him.

I''d love to hear your experience working with him. Please share.

This site is a wealth of information. :)

Thank you!!

I have seen a few James Meyer rings but not his son Caleb''s. I am interested to hear reviews too. I like a setting on his website.

They are absolutely fabulous to work with!!! No hestitations :) Stephanie is very nice and gets back to you immediately! I love his work

hey Woo, have you posted about your CM piece anywhere yet?
I am currently speaking to them about a new e-ring, and would be interested in pics of yours

Hey maisie,
I''ve found Stephanie taking on average 2-3 days for a reply, and usually I need to send a reminder (in my case).
In fairness though, I think she did mention something in our phone call about a colleague having a baby..

Thanks AJ

Thank you Woo!

I''ve picked out a ring and let Caleb know I will be back in contact after I close on my new town-home. I figure I''d better make sure I have enough $ for a refrigerator etc. first. :)

I _love_ his work and I''m very excited about getting the ring. I think I''m going with this one.

I eventually heard back from CM. They don''t do resets on coloured stones.

I eventually heard back yesterday too - a week after my diamond has arrived back in Aus

I have to say I have been distinctly unimpressed with the lack of service and inflexibility of the whole thing.

I know packrat has had similiar experiences to my own.

Yep, I have, and I ditto AJ about being unimpressed with the whole deal. Especially since I''d totally fallen for a particular setting. *But* I think things worked out in the end for AJ (beautifully) and I think they will for me too.

I mentioned in my thread over in CS about getting another quote for my future ring, that I''d also emailed James Meyer, and I am so over the moon about it! I heard back from him immediately, and while it''s going to be a little more expensive, it''s going to be worth it!

Yup,
sometimes a couple hundred more is worth it for peace of mind and personal/quick service, which Jim
gives in spades.
Plus, you know you are *not* making any type of compromise on quality or design, of course.
I''m Glad to hear you are making headway Packrat.

I was also sad because I fell in love with some of their designs, as you know.

I wonder if things would''ve played out differently if CM''s staff knew we were all PS''ers..?

I mentioned in my initial email about being a PS''er, and that that was how I learned of the older cuts..At first I wondered if the problem was going thru someone else, rather than the artist themselves. But, the first vendor I ever contacted was McTeigue and McClelland, and the person I talked to wasn''t the artist, but I got fast replies and sooo much help and information and extra pictures.

I''m thinking of when I get my stone, sending it to Jim, along w/a couple pictures of different rings, and seeing if we can come up with something similar to what you and Coati have, just a little different..but I like the setting you guys have so much, I haven''t made up my mind yet. I''ve never had anything made before, so I''m a bit of a scaredy cat!

packrat,
did they acknowledge that they knew what PS is?

I guess that could go a ways to explaining things in my case, seeing as I posted about
my negative experience in my thread.
But hey, that''s what we''re here for, to give honest reports - not to cover for vendors, right..?!

I know Jim will happily work with you to come up with something just right, but he was
v. adamant about not imposing on CM''s designs at all ( and fairly enough), just a heads up

Don''t be scared! Jim''s terribly easy to work with!

She never mentioned anything about Pricescope after I said I''d been posting here and discovered how beautiful old cuts are, so I''m guessing she didn''t know it''s a forum? But you''re right, even if they did, and saw the experiences we''ve posted, I would think it would be considered constructive criticism, and just a way to see where there could be improvements made.

Yeah, I''d seen in your other thread about Jim not wanting to step on Caleb''s toes so to speak, and I was glad you''d posted that! I wouldn''t want him to do it anyway, but it''s still good to know! It''s actually a setting I found on SS. I thought the shank was interesting, and could maybe be a little extra with the wraps..but I dunno. Just have to wait and see after the stone is found and see what he thinks..I hate to mess w/the perfection of the original, but then I thought it might be fun to see if it could be changed a little. This is why *I* do not design jewelry for a living!
