Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

singer, I''d call the doctor just to be sure. if you don''t have the book "what to expect when expecting" you might want to get it. I found it helpful during my first pregnancy in the beginning. I actually stopped reading it about 1/2 way though b/c I started thinking I had all the symptoms they describe to be worried about but most women find it extremly helpful. also check out www.babycenter.com. you can enter your baby''s due date and they will send you weekly emails detailing the baby''s develoment. it''s very cool!!

i''d call your doc to be on the safe side. i didn''t like reading what to expect when you''re expecting---it scared me and i stopped reading it by the 3rd month. i did love your pregnancy week by week by dr. glade b curtis. it was very helpful in a non scary way. my friends felt the same way.

Thanks NYCsparkle! Looks like I''ll be reading Your Pregnancy Week by Week...other people have suggested that book as well! Yeah, I just don''t like the scary "could happens."

it''s so good to know I wasn''t the only one who felt that way. every woman i talked to loved it so i thought I was the only paranoid lady around. I did however LOVE "what to expect the first year"

The only book I read during my pregnancy was the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy, & I really liked it. It was straight to the point with no medical mumbo jumbo. It really was like a girlfriend or mother was telling me what to expect. My friend gave me (Along with the other book I mentioned) The Pregnancy Journal; A Day-To-Day Guide to a Healthy and Happy Pregnancy (Spiral-bound) & I didnt care for that one at all but she really liked it during her pregnancy.

Unless you have bleeding, cramping (& all sorts of other weird aches & pains) is normal. If you are worried call your ob/gyn better safe than sorry & they are used to it.

Singer,
If you experience any cramping (with or without bleeding), please check it out with your doctor/OB ASAP. I don''t want to scare you but this is what happened with my 2nd pregnancy. I had bad cramps for 2 to 3 days that came on and off when I was about 10/11 weeks pregnant and I dismissed it since there was no bleeding. I thought I had over-exercised and maybe pulled my abdominal muscles or something similiar. A few days later, I had major bleeding and miscarried. So, please check with your medical practisioner to be 100% sure that everything is all right.

Chrono, i am so sorry to hear what happened to you during your second pregnancy...that is so sad. i don''t know what i would do if i misscarried, because i am soooo happy to be pregnant! i''m sure everyone is just devastated when this happens...it is a sad reality of pregnancy. Anyway, I am happy to report that I have no cramping today whatsoever, but I did call the doctor anyway and she said light cramping is normal around this time and to not worry (unless it persists and doesn''t go away in a few days.) I''m already feeliing better.

Everyone else who responded, thanks so much for your advice...especially about all the great books! :)

singer, sorry I''m a little late but CONGRATULATIONS!!! I''m 30 weeks pregnant right now but I definitely had period type cramps throughout this pregnancy, especially in the beginning when everything was stretching out. Make sure to drink lots of water and get rest when you need it.

Regarding books, I recommend all the ones that were already mentioned. Girlfriends'' Guide is really cute and fun. I love Your Pregnancy Week by Week--DH loves it too. I had heard horrible things about What to Expect but then my MIL bought it for me so I figured I''d see what the hype was about. I really don''t think it''s bad. It hasn''t scared me at all but I''m like a sponge so I just like to have as much information as possible. I''ll read anything!

Hope everything goes smoothly for you. Keep us posted!

Glad to hear you are feeling better Singer!! I had cramping too, but it didn''t last long. Good luck!!!

Congrats to all the mommies-to-be who have recently found out they are pregnant!!

Hey Curlygirl - starting to get uncomfortable yet?!
16.gif
I''m 28 wks now and Oh.My.God. do I feel like it''s going to be a loooong 2 more months!! Between my back, my leg cramps and hip pain, frequent bathroom trips and exhaustion, It''s really starting to feel like I''m pregnant!! This baby is getting big! But I''ll try not to complain too much - I still love being pregnant with her! My new favorite activity is to watch her late at night "roll" around in my tummy! Sometimes she kicks so hard

and not to be overly optimistic (ha!) but even with a lot of bleeding and cramping you can still NOT miscarry! I''ve had a couple miscarriages and bled with all 3 of my kids. With #2 i had a cyst burst at 14 weeks... that was freaky.... but with #3 at 12 weeks I just started GUSHING blood (I was sitting on the toilet and it sounded like I was peeing!) and I laid down and it kinda stopped so we went to the ER and on the way it started gushing again.... they checked me, said my cervix was open and I''d miscarried... did an ultrasound and there he was kicking away! He''ll be 6 in July!! They never figured out where the blood came from... probably a tear in the placenta but that''s just a guess. Also with #1 and #3 I had my first periods too... when I miscarried I knew about 2-3 days before the cramping and bleeding started... there was just this weird "knowing" and all of my morning sickness and other symtoms just kinda faded away... the first time I didn''t realize until retrospect but the second time I was like oh crap I know what this is...

Hi Irish! I''m sorry to hear you''re getting uncomfortable. Surprisingly, I''m still feeling great. I''m a pretty small girl so I''ve only gained about 15 lbs. and it''s literally all in my belly--you wouldn''t be able to tell I''m pregnant from looking at any other part of my body! I''m still going to the gym 2-3 times a week and walking 2 miles everyday to and from work. I think that has really helped me stay in shape and avoid a lot of the usual aches and pains. I hope I can keep it up for the next 2 months. I''m really enjoying all the movement I''m feeling too. It had decreased a little bit in the last week but I think she was going through a growth spurt. Since then, she''s been really active and it''s a lot of fun because DH gets to feel it too. I hope the next few weeks fly by for us--I''m sure you''re so anxious to meet your little girl (I know I am)! Have you been buying a lot of stuff??

Hope all the newly pregnant ladies are doing well. Give us an update when you can!

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I am only five weeks pregnant, and most of my cramping has gone away. However, i do still experience cramping after a certain extracurricular activity (if you know what I mean...lol). I have a friend who is pregnant and she said she experiences the same thing. Do any of you cramp after you know what? It hurts for about five or ten minutes and then usually subsides. Food helps too, and I usually have my hubby rub my belly afterwards. He is so good to me.

Singer - couldn''t help you out there - because i''m high-risk my doc has put me on "no sex" orders since pretty much the beginning of the pregnancy! and due to my obsenely low sex-drive during this pregnancy anyway, I''m kinda glad! I only miss it psychologically, but not physically, although I''m looking forward to getting the all-clear after the baby is born! I know Dh is as well because we''ve had to do "other things" throughout the pregnancy!

Curlygirl- my goodness, the thought of going to a gym makes me want to run and hide! I swear my lungs are getting pushed further and further up everyday - breathing normally is hard enough! I''ve only gained 23 so far, but i''m pretty petite (only 5''2") and I have a small frame,so the growth is really starting to weigh me down. I am looking forward to getting back in shape afterwards though - I have a closet full of size 2 and 4''s that I need to get back into!!
16.gif

as far as buying stuff - I''m been doing pretty well with just buying the necessities. My shower is on the 24th and I''m hoping to get more stuff then. after the shower I''ll take an inventory of what I still need and want and go from there. Money is tight so I have to resist the urge to buy every cute thing I see, which is REALLY HARD!! Especially for girls - there are so many adorable outfits and accessories for them!! have you had your shower yet?

I wanted to wait until after our first u/s to tell everyone that we are expecting our first child in October. We got to hear the heartbeat and the tech said that baby looked good. Obviously we are very excited!

Thanks ellaila! We are very excited.

Chrono, no we want to wait until the birth. I know most people find out but honestly we don''t care and I think it would be fun to be surprised! I hope we don''t accidently find out in future scans.

Kaleigh, it does seem like there is a lot of us Lisa. I am guessing that there will always be a handful pregnant ladies since the bride forum is so popular.

I just wanted to share the news with my PS family!

Congrats to all the expecting PSers! My husband and I have serious baby fever right now! But we are trying to wait so we don't rush into it. We're still young. I'm so excited for all of you!

Congrats Singer! Glad the cramps have stopped and everything is okay!

njc,
You''ll hear it soon, and when you do it''s such a special moment. Like music to your ears!!!!

Tacori, that is just wonderful news. congrats...

Tacori, Congratulations!! I''m sure you''re very excited!

njc, I am due oct 28th but since my husband was a 10.5 lb baby
23.gif
she said she doubted they would let me go full term. I am not sure why they did one so early. I thought about just scanning in the pic to show you all but you really can''t see anything (with the untrained eye anyways) I won''t have another one to 18-20 weeks (probably). They did find a walnut sized cyst on my left ovary which won''t hurt the baby (they had to convince me) but they might do once sooner just to keep an eye on it. When do you get your first u/s?

jcrow, thanks hun! Congrats on your house too. You will love it! Can''t wait to do those baby announcements.

I am sure njc has some ideas too.

Thanks mrssalvo and Dixie. It all happened so fast! We just started trying. We are thrilled.

ah! tacori-- baby announcements are the best!
haha, i''ve already designed our moving announcements...

Tacori, congratulations!!!! It's such an amazing time in your life--hope you enjoy it as much as I am! Hearing that heartbeat is just the best and watching the baby grow is truly incredible. I give you credit for not finding out the sex. We didn't want to but we're just not the patient types! We haven't told any of our friends or family so it's still a secret to everyone else which is fun! Good luck, hope everything goes smoothly. Keep us posted!
