Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks Zoe!

Jcrow, I am so bad I never sent out moving announcements. Oh well! You should post yours. I would love to see them

Curlygirl, I hope we don''t break down and ask to know the sex. I am going to try to stay strong b/c I really want it to be a surprise. Your little girl will be here soon! You must be so excited. October still seems like a looong way off! I know the months will fly by though

I still can''t believe we concieved the first month we tried!

Congrats Tacori!!! Very exciting!!!

congrats tacori! it's cool to see people who have been here for such a long time kind of move from stage to stage!! aka a lot of the gals pregnant right now or previously were here when they were engaged, posted about getting married, and now having kids!! it's really fun to watch..hehe.

Congrats Tacori

Thanks Skippy, Dani, and VegasAngel! Halloween will be very special this year.

Mara, a lot has change the last few years for us! Kind of crazy. I think that is one of the great things about the PS community. Members seem to stick around for awhile

Tacori - Wow... 10.5 is a HUGE baby. DH and SIL had big heads (to the point they were tested to make sure they were okay!), so that is what I have to look forward to I guess! They told me I wont have an u/s until 20 weeks... just seems so late and far away! They will listen for the heartbeat at my next appt in 2 weeks... I will be 13.5 weeks and in the second trimester by that point. CRAZY! There are 3 doctors in the practice I got to, and I see a different one this time so I am hoping that maybe I can talk the doctor into an u/s or at least find out why they dont want to do one. I feel I am the only woman in American who is pg right now and hasnt had an u/s!

I used to not want to know the sex until the baby was born, but I am starting to lean towards knowing... I think it will be a "minute of" decision!

njc, most doctors only do a 20 week ultrasound (level 2 anatomy scan) and one later on (around 32 weeks to check growth) unless there are specific things they are looking for earlier. Due to my "advanced maternal age", I had one at 11 weeks for the first round of genetic testing (nuchal translucency ultrascreen) so I got an extra one. Plus I had an amnio which is guided by ultrasound so I got another freebie but generally, most doctors don''t like to overdo the ultrasounds so don''t feel like there is something wrong with your doctor! I didn''t get to hear the heartbeat till about 14 weeks but since then, I get to hear it at every appointment.

Regarding those 10 lb. babies--YIKES!! I would be absolutely terrified! Fortunately, I don''t think that will happen to me. As of now (32weeks), my baby weighs around 3 lbs. which is on the small end of the normal scale but I''m ok with that!! She''s measuring right on time for her May 6 due date so that''s a good sign.

Hope everyone is feeling well and growing nice little bellies! Mine is getting pretty big right now!

Thanks Curlygirl... I was wondering a bit about my docs. They are in the same practice as my GYN, but she stopped delivering this year!
39.gif
I love her so much and she is just so straight forward and takes her time... not so much with the doc I saw a couple weeks ago. Cant wait to meet the other two! They said I could get the nuchal u/s, but I keep forgetting to call and see if my insurance covers it... doubt it, so I guess patient I will have to have!

Sounds like you are just chugging along! I cant wait to get over this "fat" stage and finally look pregnant and then I am sure I will find something to complain about then too! Im sure it was all in my head, but I went shopping this weekend and my shirt was a tight on my belly and I felt like everyone was stairing at the fat woman!

ha njc, that was the part of pregnancy I never liked. you don''t really look pregnant, just chubby and people are too scared to ask b/c they don''t want to offend you if you really did just gain weight. there is a woman and my daugthers preschool that I''m 99.9% sure she''s pregnant but she''s not full out prego belly so that .01% keeps me from asking. anyway, it will soon pass and you will be all belly leaving nothing to anyone''s imagination

My parents had a neighbor who was quite statuesque (over 6'' and large, but not fat, just very sturdy looking, especially for a woman). They were friendly, but not friends and my mom never felt comfortable asking if she was pregnant. My parents got a 3 am knock at the door asking my mom to sit with their two boys so she could go to the hospial as she was in labor. Question answered!

the fat stage passed within a month for me....i didn''t "pop" until my 5th month before then i was wearing my regular clothes including my jeans.....i thought i''d have a small baby because i carried pretty small until the last 2 weeks---he was 8 lbs.1 oz.

NYC - I am hoping it will only last a couple more weeks... I have already out-grown the buttons in all my work pants (have gotten very creative in how to hold them up!) and I am not quite 3 months. Either I am doing a lot of growing now or I am going to be HUGE!

KimH - My body type is exactly like your parents neighbors, except I am right at 6''. Maybe I will be like the neighbor and can avoid those stranger that like to touch your belly!

MrsS - I know... soon I will have the belly and probably wish I didnt! My SIL went through a stage about a year ago where she gained about 10 lbs and TOTALLY looked pregnant. She is a teacher and her students kept asking her when the baby was due! She started training for the Marine Corps Marathon not too long after and looks great now.

njc, I feel like I am ALREADY showing at 8 weeks which is very, very scary. I have been very hungry lately. Maybe it is b/c I am so short so it is easier to tell. I don''t know. I am already into maternity jeans b/c even though my pants fit fine standing up they were really uncomfortable sitting down. A lot of the women on my maternity board are already in maternity clothes too so I don''t feel AS bad. I have gained about 3 lbs so far but really feel like my weight is shifting to my tummy. They only heard one heartbeat so I can''t really pretend like I am having twins
27.gif
My husband says I don''t look any larger but the fat stage has def. set in. My mom visited me this weekend so we went on a major shopping spree. Ann Taylor and Express have LOTS of styles that are very loose in the tummy that are perfect for preggo bellies. I got a sundress from the jrs deparment in Nordstorms that also will come in handy this summer. Old Navy and Motherhood both have pants in lengths (I know your tall!) which is also really helpful.

Don''t worry about not having a u/s. I was just a freak that found out I was preggo so early at 4 weeks so it showed as a *faint* positive. They just wanted to make sure I was not having a m/c. I have my first prenatal visit on the 28th for all the boring stuff. How are you feeling?

Hey guys!! Congrats on all of the new pregnancies! For all of you ladies early in your pregnancy and feeling chubby already, for a reference, I was bigger around the middle with my first at 10 weeks than I was at 17 weeks. I retained sooooo much water with him. Also, Motherhood sells a product that is called a Bellybelt I *think*. It attaches to the button of most non-maternity pants with an elastic band and has a flap of fabric that runs down the zipper area. It was all I needed the entire 9 mos...I''m so darn short and petite that maternity never fit me anyway, so this thing was a godsend. You still need a long top, but, that should be easy right now with all of the tunics and flowy tops.

Thanks Miranda! I probably am just really bloated. The baby is only a 1/2 inch so I feel like it is crazy that my tummy feels so much larger. I am petite too so it was great a lot of the pants come in the short length. The old navy jeans I bought were XS and slightly big but they are SOOO comfortable. I am needing to get some longer plain t-shirts to wear (to cover the band). Any ideas?

You can try Liz Lange maternity @ Target also Gap maternity

Thanks Vegas! I will head over there to see what they have.

I haven''t bought a lot of maternity clothes because they are so "temporary" but the majority of the things I did buy came from GapMaternity (online they have small sizes and I buy their pants in ankle length which fit me perfectly and don''t need any alterations) and Mimi Maternity. My best purchase was the Tummy Tube from Mimi. It is like a tube top and you can wear it over the top of your unbuttoned/unzipped pants. I still wear it and I love it! I think the original version is called the Bella Band which is a little more pricey and I also think Motherhood makes a less expensive version of it. It''s been a lifesaver for me because I can still wear all my pre-preg pants. I''ve only grown in my belly so I can still squeeze my pants over my hips and butt and while I can''t zip them up, I can throw the tummy tube over and it covers the exposed part. For tops, my boobs have not grown AT ALL so I still squeeze into some of my stretchy tops and fortunately, a lot of the current styles are baby doll or have empire waists which is good. The maternity tops make me look huge and they are too long in my opinion but I think it''s because I''ve only grown in one spot!

Curly you were way thinner pre-pregnancy than I was. I have a feeling I am going to grow everywhere
7.gif
Old navy sells "short" length as well. Maybe I should get one of those bands. I got the cutest dress at mimi this weekend for a wedding we are going to this summer. I like it b/c it looks like a normal dress BUT has lots of room in the belly. I know what you mean about the shirts being so long. I figured it was to cover the band. I was a XS at the maternity store and still swam in some of the stuff. You must be in the home stretch now which is so exciting! Do you have the nursery done?

Tacori - congratulations on the pg!! I was reading about how you feel you''re showing already - I agree with the pp that it''s more than likely water retention - I retained so much water my first trimester. a really easy way to tell is to compare your mid-section from morning to evening. In the morning it will most likely be slimmer and not so bloated and you''ll be able to "suck it in" a little bit. at night you''ll be more "pregnant looking" and rounder, but still be able to suck it in, though not as much as in the morning. At least this was my experience up until I truly starting showing, which was around 19-20 wks or so. but everyone is different.

Now that I''m 30 wks along, i''m just huge! and very irritable and I get really ticked off when people ask me when I''m due and I say "may" and their eyes get all huge like they want to say "whoa! You''re huge and still have 8 wks or so to go!!". I feel like saying "this is mid-march people! May is NOT that far away so stop looking at me like that!"
29.gif

I was at a wedding this weekend and was really annoyed because I felt uncomfortable in my dressy clothes, the room was smoky and the music was really loud. I came back from the bathroom and sat down next to one of my friend''s date. She asks "so when are you due, sweetie?" and I told her May. Her eyes got big and she actually says - "and you''re sure there''s just one in there, right?"
29.gif
AAAAAHHHH! I wanted to deck her. I think she could tell I was ticked because I said (in my rudest tone) "uh, yeah. We''re sure" and gave her a dirty look. she kinda moved back and turned to start talking to someone else
9.gif

Just curious, what maternity board do you chat on?

Irish how rude! I hope she felt horrible! I could hope and dream I will be one of those lovely pregnant women in maternity ads but this is *real* life. My mom got kind of worried when she saw my belly bare (when I was trying on clothes) and said she didn't show with her first until around month 4. I was thin before but not super skinny or anything. (My wedding pics are on here somewhere if you are curious). It's just I am so short so I don't carry ANY extra weight well. Sometimes people just don't think before they speak. Sometimes I wonder if it is people who haven't been pregnant before too. My DH tells me I do NOT look pregnant and it is all in my head, which maybe it slightly is. I guess I just need to accept all these changes physically. Creating life ain't always pretty huh?

I like whattoexpect.com. She has boards divided up into due months so I spend a lot of time on there. There is just so much to worry about so I find it helps talking to women who are in the same boat. My mom and MIL don't really remember and none of my close friends have babies yet so this is all new to me!

ETA: Irish I am sure you look beautiful. Ignore all negative comments!

Awwww, thanks!!
9.gif
Somedays I feel beautiful and like I have the "pregnant glow" - other days I just feel like a house!!

How short are you? I''m 5''2" and thought the same thing - that I would spread EVERYWHERE, but surprisingly I have done pretty well and most of it is in my tummy. I too am one of those people that don''t hide weight easily, so I''m pretty surprised at how well I''m carrying the 23 extra pounds I''ve put on so far - so maybe your body will surprise you! and if not, just remember how totally worth it it is going to be when you hold that baby in your arms!! You can always lose the weight later!

Irish, I HOPE I have the same experience as you. Right now I just feel pale, tired, greasy skin/hair, and fat. My DH even pointed out bags under my eyes this morning! It was so romantic
38.gif
It is just hard to get quality sleep. I am always uncomfortable, too hot or too cold, OR getting up to pee every 2 hours. I am 5''1" and the thought of gaining 25-35 lbs is SCARY. Not just for vanity reasons but I just cannot imagine walking, moving, driving, ex...with that much extra weight. I agree 100%. Of course it is worth it. I look forward to meeting our new baby. Did you find out the sex yet? (Sorry if you already mentioned it on a previous page).

NJC (and all of you other pregnant ladies) I am sure you look absolutely stunning.

Belly touching, AH! I knew a woman who actually fondled someone''s breast after the stranger touched her pregnant tummy and then said "Now you feel as violated as I did when you rubbed my stomach!" and then walked away. She didn''t stick around for a reaction, but I would have loved to have seen it.

tacori--CONGRATS!!!! i know i''m a little late, but i am so excited for you!

i am now 14 weeks along. i never had any morning sickness, I was exhausted the first 10 weeks, good thing I''m not working, i literally spent my days napping! I''m doing better now, making it back to the gym and started swimming laps!

I had my first trimester screening last week, and the ultrasound tech said it was too early to confirm but she would be SHOCKED if it wasnt a boy! we definately are not keeping the gender a secret. i''m not nearly that patient, and for us its just as special whenever we find out, doesnt have to be at birth!! I also had switched from my old OBGYN to the midwives at UCLA. i am really excited about the care! thats the pregnancy news here!

It''s never too late! Thank you. I feel lucky that it happened so quickly. I have been VERY tired as well. I feel sick off and on but never vomited or anything. Just more of a "crappy" feeling. I tell DH making a baby is HARD work. How exciting about your little boy! Have you thought of names yet? I am sure your u/s was much more interesting than ours. The baby was literally a blob. We are going with an OBGYN but I have heard many people so happy with their midwives. Both my dad and FIL are docs so I don''t think I am *allowed* to go with a midwife. Keep us updated!

Hi ladies... hope everything is still going well! Some of you are coming up on due dates in the next month or so correct? I am 13 weeks and have gotten past my nasuea and slowly getting my appetite back, but am still ridiculously tired and in that weird phase with my clothes... oh well!

We went to the doctor today and got to hear the heartbeat which was REALLY cool!!! This is the first thing that has let us know anything about the little bean. We have decided to pass on the tests and will only get a 20 week u/s, so another 2 months till we get a peek!
14.gif
And, I think we have decided to find out the sex. We figure its the same surprise at 5 months as it is at 9 months, you just get to plan a little more for it with pink or blue!

Isn''t hearing the heart beat the best?? I found out the sex of both my kids. It was something we decided to do, it really helped in preparing the nursery, buying clothes etc... I bet you''ll get your energy back soon!!

njc, glad to hear you''re starting to feel better. The second trimester is truly the honeymoon trimester--you should feel really great! I''ve actually been lucky that the honeymoon has continued into the third tri although now at 34 weeks I''m starting to feel big!!

Hearing the heartbeat is my favorite part of every appointment (except the ultrasounds which are so cool!). I get so nervous while the nurse is searching around my belly with the doppler but once I hear that incredible sound, I just start giggling like a little girl!! You''ll LOVE the 20 week ultrasound. It''s the most amazing thing and since you''re not having any others until then, it will truly be a huge shock for you to see how your baby has grown and is starting to look like a real baby!!!

I can''t believe I only have 6 weeks to go if this girl is on time--although as a first baby, I''m guessing she may be late. I''ve really loved being pregnant and will miss feeling this little critter moving around inside me but I can''t wait to meet her! I feel a bit overwhelmed as I don''t know if I have everything I need or if I should go on a major shopping spree. My shower is not for another week (sooo late, but I didn''t have anything to do with that) so I guess I''ll just have to wait and see what I get. Fortunately we live in a one bedroom apartment so we don''t have to get a nursery all set up. She''ll stay in our room in the beginning and then we may put up a wall in our dining area for her. Who says you can''t have a baby in a one bedroom?!

Hope all our expecting mothers are feeling well. Looking forward to hearing about everyone''s progress!
