Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I need to vent here and I know all of you will understand.
1.gif
I am so so frustrated trying to find a dress for the 2 weddings and 1 shower I need to go to the next few weeks. Nothing regular fits, nothing maternity fits. AHHH. So annoyed.

Since the maternity stuff is closer to fitting, does anyone have any place they had luck with buying a nice cocktail dress from? The thing is I DON''T want a dark color. I don''t want huge bows. And I don''t want to look like a 5 year old. Which seems to eliminate 98% of the maternity cocktail dresses out there.

Anyone seen anything classy and chic that isn''t black, brown or navy? I am very very ample on top though, so it needs to have some coverage there. And preferably be in a summery color! No white or ivory since I have to go to a few weddings. I''d also *love* to be able to wear this for a fancy rehearsal dinner in August, but I''ll be 22 weeks with twins then, so I don''t know if it''ll happen or not.

Any store advice anyone has would be great. I''ve checked all the usual department stores, pea in the pod, motherhood...I''m sure a few more too. I''d love to not spend more than $200 on it.

Thanks for letting me vent. I know you''ve all been there done that!
Babystyle.com has some great maternity dresses!

Hope this helps! :)

Oh man...had family friends in town the past couple days so my PS time has been limited. LOTS to catch up on....

Mrss~thanks! I love all the new facial expression!

tgal~I've often wondered myself if PS will be around for Tayva to read up on what her early days were like and see how sillly her mom was posting her bling!
2.gif
Tayva was taking up to 6oz a feeding at Amelia's age (before reflux). She thrived on that schedule. Amelia must be getting so big. We NEED new pics!

Kay~thanks!

LIA~Hope you have an amazing trip!

Tacori~The pics of Tessa are soo cute! I'm glad you had them done. I'm no help, as I like them ALL!!! I have a photo-collage type frame (don't know what else to call it) in my living room that is all pics of Tayva. I could never decide with her pro pics so I just got LOTS and put them in this frame thingy....it's very similar to this one: http://www.redenvelope.com/re/gifts/product_display/product_information.jsp?nc=53478&refPg=%2fproduct_display%2fgift_results.jsp&bct2=shops&bcp2=1&bcm2=1%24%24-8193&bct4=home&bcp4=3&bcm4=1%24%24-12768&bct5=frames+%2B+albums&bcp5=4&bcm5=29$$%2Fshops%2Fhome%2Fframes+%2B+albums@@30$$-12773@@35$$12773&catOid=-12773&oid=16423499&nc2=1

WOW-that link is LONG......Sorry.

Ella~Thanks. She is a crazy girl. She is now doing it when she's eating cereal. That makes feeding her fun.
20.gif

Smitty~Tayva is 4.5 months. Thanks for the compliment on her name. My mom thinks she's going to get a rash on her bottom lip from doing it so much...
9.gif

Bobo~Thanks. That is too funny, because Tayva grabs her ears too! It's so funny. I haven't gotten a picture of it yet. You should post one of Little B!! The way you're describing how Little B eats sounds to me like he may have reflux.. I would at least mention it to the new pedi when you go in (when is that again?).

DH is taking on the night time routine tonight because I'm coaching a volleyball camp at the University of Nebraska tomorrow through Tuesday and so I won't be home to do it. Tonight is his "practice round." Tayva sometimes fights going to bed at night so it's been hard to stay out of her room and not try to "help" since I don't think my husband would see it as "help."

neatfreak, have you tried mimi maternity? I haven''t checked the store lately but when I was preggo they always had some very cute dresses that weren''t too maternity looking. also, with babydoll style dresses still popular, you might even check some regular stores like BCBG etc.

mrsS, thank you!

NF, I got a cute light blue/silver dress (no bows) last summer from Mimi''s (for a wedding that never took place
20.gif
) too bad you didn''t live close I would just give it to you. Target has some cute maternity dresses.

Burk, how funny! We have that EXACT frame over our fireplace with wedding pics. Sometimes I think we should move that one over our bed and replace it with another one for T pics.

Neatfreak~When I was preggo, I bought a regular dress for a wedding because I could not find anything remotely cute in maternity. There is so much "flowy" and babydoll style stuff in style right now, I always had more luck with non-maternity stuff. Good luck!

Tacori~That is funny! Our living room is like the Tayva photo show, but I wouldn''t have it any other way. I actually have a smaller version, so I have two.

Hi ladies,

I don't mean to bring sad news into this happy thread, but I'll be leaving you. Long story short, we lost this one, too.

Needless to say, we're heartbroken. I don't know when I'll be back, but hopefully sooner rather than later.

Thank you all for your support.

Ebree, I am so sorry, (((((hugs)))))

EBree, I am so sorry. I am heartbroken for you. Lots of hugs to you and your DH. Take care of yourself. My thoughts are with you.

Oh Ebree, I am so sorry honey!

Burk, I don''t have a pix of little B grabing his ears because everytime he sees the camera he just stop everything he is doing and just stare at it. His appt with the new pedi is this coming monday and I will bring it up to him. He already perform as water fountain or should I say Milk fountain twic today.

Ebree, I''m so sorry....*Hugs*

Ebree - I am sorry to hear of your loss. Please take care.

Tacori - No, I didn't show him pictures of your Tessa ring YET. I have to space them out....lol. I will be getting my Tacori setting within the next week or so, and I am very fortunate for that. With a new baby, there isn't a whole lot of "extra" cash just lying around. But give me some time and hopefully I will have some good news to share.
1.gif
My DH and I did things a little backwards. We got married and had a baby (two days before our one year wedding anniversary) and NOW we are getting the diamond ring...hehe. Oh, I forgot to ask how old Tessa is. I'm just curious...she is such a doll. Sorry I didn't do my homework and research the old posts. I don't have a ton of extra time, which I'm sure you can relate to!

ebree: i am so sorry to hear this sad news
7.gif
my thoughts are with you...

Tacori: love all the pics of Tessa! i just cant pick a favorite, but if i really had to, i would go for #1 coz i love that i can see her full face ..shes such a beauty =)

TGal: totally hear u on that one!! i have so many ppl complain that im loosing out by not going out and not taking my kids out to these events and they make it seem like im living in some sort of sad little world where i dont go out or do anything...i get so frustrated, coz i NEVER comment on how they raise their kids or let them stay up to the wee hours in the morning just coz the parents want to go out and have fun!! i believe that i have had the opp to live my life and if i wasn''t ready to give up certain things, then i shouldnt have had a baby..i am more than happy to give this time to my son and make sure that HE is happy and has a well balanced life/sleep..i do go out with him of course and dad gets plenty of time with him over the weekends, but i love that i also have time at the end of the day for me to unwind or relax or do watever it is i need to do...but some ppl just dont get it! wat r u gonna do? to each their own :)

neatfreak: not sure if this store is available in the US, but there is a store called serendipity for maternity wear that has some amazing evening wear...i also like the suggestion that u mite be able to find something that isn''t maternity provided it is the babydoll style dresses..good luck and let us know if u end up finding something u like :)

LIA: hope ur having fun!!! and happy bday and congrats on the graduation :)

Snlee: not sure if ive commented already or not, but yay for team blue!!! i was hoping id have a girl, but now that im a mother of a boy, i couldnt imagine it any other way..i LOVE being a mommy to a naughty little fellow!!

sbde: nope, not getting anything for fathers day...to be honest, the thought didnt even cross my mind

smitty, she just turned 7 months. It''s gone by so fast! I can''t wait to see your new Tacori.

msb, thank you! That is the pose I got the most pictures of. I am kind of sad that the photographer didn''t get any of her HUGE smiles but I guess my personal photos can fill in the blanks.

Ebree, I''m so sorry honey. Hugs and thoughts of strength to you and your family.

Ebree-I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself! Big hugs to you.

Ebree -- I am so so so sorry for your loss

I know that nothing I can say will take the hurt away, but I hope you stay strong and join us here again really soon. (((hugs)))

catching up...

TGal -- thanks... the colors in that pic were the "nursery" walls BTW --- it''s currently a playroom and I love the turquoise so much I am thinking of keeping it. We''re planning on doing a Hawaiian type nursery anyway, so I think that color would be fine for the girls if I do more "girl" colored accents....

Lili -- 3 boys at home ARE a handful, but they are sort of learning to help me more, so I am going to try not to stress too much and take full advantage of bribery (read: allowance :)) instead :) I got BH too with the boys, but later in the pg. With twins it makes me nervous b/c i don''t want anything to speed up labor/delivery!

Tacori -- the pics are absolutely gorgeous! I personally like #4 the best, but they''re all great! (of course, i don''t think she could take a bad pic
2.gif
)

Kay -- when is your u/s this week? I hope you don''t have to cancel your trip
8.gif
I never got "hungrier" than normal after the m/s let up, btw.... but eat what you can now b/c it gets harder as she gets bigger....

Snlee -- how happy for you to be able to feel movement from the outside!! I am just dying for DH to be able to feel the babies move...

Neatfreak -- I''ve been buying baby stuff since I found out I was pg. I actually had bought one outfit the month before (when i had a chemical pg) b/c it was a seasonal christmas-type sale item that would have worked perfectly for this year''s holidays.. and it still should, bt now i wish i had 2! I waited until i saw heartbeats to start buying stuff, but I would rather buy a bit at a time b/c we don''t have a lot of money and to buy all at once couldn''t really happen...

Jas -- hope you are having fun with your sis!

Burk -- i LOVE Tayva''s latest pic :) what an expression!

jen

LitChick -- how funny about the "saint bernard puppy" comment by your dr :) Considering i have an actual st bernard, i can see the truth in that, only Miller''s a LOT cuter
2.gif
I think he''s practucally as big as my 5 year old though! (D is small for age)

LIA -- hope you are loving Hawaii!! I was there in Maui for my wedding last year and we visited Lanai and LOVED it -- you are a lucky girl! Can''t wait to hear about your trip and your u/s!!

Ella -- happy (late) 6 months to G and K!!

SBDE -- I''m not a first-time mom, but my hubby is a first-time dad, so I ordered him a t-shirt that says "real men make twins" -- i hurt his feelings last year by not doing anything special on father''s day (the boys gave him a card, and even though he''s been with us for a few years, it was his first real father''s day as an official step-dad), so i''m taking the boys shopping to pick out something from each of them. I thought it was really important to do a "father-to-be" gift, even if it is lighthearted...

Lili-- I fotgot to add that I love your new avatar
30.gif
, even thought it''s not "new" anymore!

Linda -- my mom did the same with all 3 of my boys (i''m an only child) -- and it''s driving her crazy that we are not telling anyone the genders of the babies b/c she''s ready to go buy stuff! haha She''s moving back here this week, so i''m sure we''ll go shopping together for the more "neutral" stuff -- she will absolutely go crazy though when we tell her she''s getting at least 1 granddaughter
2.gif

Neatfreak -- I actually found a dress at Target of all places for a wedding I''m going to this weekend -- it''s a plus-size, not maternity, and stretches -- and it''s summery. If it never fits again I don''t care since I spent very little on it!

Burk -- do you live in NE? My mom''s moving back here (Arkansas) from Omaha... I was born there.

So today is my middle son (Adrian''s) 8th birthday -- how time flies! I''m about to head downstairs so he can open his gifts from us and then head to the roller rink later for his party with his friends, so busy fun day ahead

Ebree, I am so so sorry to hear that. Big hugs headed your way. We''re all thinking about you and come back if you want to talk about it.
7.gif

Feb2003, THANK YOU for the babystyle suggestions. They do have some summery and cute stuff! Yay!

Tacori, You are so sweet! Who knows, we might be there in a few years, NC is one place where there are a ton of job opportunities for DH and I.

Mrs. S, Mimi was a great suggestion, not seeing anything I am loving there. But I'm always happy to explore new stores!

Burk, I actually did find a dress at Anthropologie yesterday that fit the bill (well the stomach!) for now, but I know I'll only be able to wear it for a few more weeks at the rate my stomach is growing. So we'll see...I'll probably end up using it for now and getting something else for my other events this summer.

msb, I have never seen that store but I am going to check! And don't listen to those crazy people, I HATE it when other parents judge your parenting style...it's already started for us and the twins aren't even born yet! People seem to think they have even more leeway to tell you what you should do when there are two babies. Ugh.

Jen, nice to hear someone else is stocking up too!
11.gif
My DH is such a procrastinator that he doesn't get it, but it just feels so calming to me to gather things slowly, not to mention that it does seem less financially scary! And thanks for the plug for Target...I don't think I can fit into the plus size stuff in any way shape or form because normally when I'm not PG I'm a size 2-4 and 5'3", so plus size stuff will just fall off my shoulders. I do love some of their maternity stuff, but again most of their special occasion dresses are black! What the heck?

I have a question for all you preggos and post-preggos... I get severely motion sick when I fly, and need to take gravol to avoid a serious upchuck fest. Did any of you ever speak to your doctors about taking gravol during pregnancy? I am not preggo yet, but am TTC and *may* be preggo when I fly in a week (but too early to test)... I also need to fly about 5 - 6 more times in the next year
40.gif
.

Thanks!

ETA: don't worry, I am not planning to take medical advise off the internet, just curious what you all heard!

My doc told me no to dramamine...but I don't know if it is the same thing as what you are taking. Best to call your doc. Mine advised the sea bands and/or Bonine if really necessary. He also said benadryl is fine if you just want to try and get some sleep to avoid the motion sickness.
