Looking forward to your birth story!

Indy -- I''ll just say I''ve gained a LOT. A lotalot. Felt my uterus early on and had quite a non-bloat pooch at 9 weeks. It was scary in a fun way

Buuuuuuut...these are my 4th and 5th babies and with my singles I showed later and gained less, butI always gained at least 50 with them, so since I am reallllllllly close to the 50 pound mark now (seriously -- and doc is fine with it since i''m growing big babies), I am guessing I am going to be between 65 and 70 lbs total.

I''ve heard twin moms take off the weight even faster than singleton moms (crossing fingers that that holds true). I have not eaten very badly or even very excessively, so I guess it''s just the way my body gains. No complaints really since I had 3 big healthy boys... the stretch marks aren''t pleasing, but it''s a small price to pay...

Dreamer -- glad you had a great midwife appt!

So I finally got my hair cut today -- took like 6 inches off and it''s still long

Feels much better though. Tomorrow I am going to the big BRU sale in the morning -- anyone else? Talk to you all later...

Thanks Jen! I was just at the bookstore looking at Dr. Luke''s book on twins and she says "EAAAAATT!!!! EAT! For God''s sake stuff yourself!" According to her, for twins, the more weight you gain EARLY on, the plumper and healthier your babies will be. In fact, she says that someone with my BMI should gain 25 pounds by week 20!!!! HOLY CR@P! That means I have to put on 2 lbs a week! That''s just crazy. That means adding an EXTRA 1000 calories a day. How will I possibly eat that much?!

I guess that''s why I see so many twin mamas suggesting Ensure and stuff. Did you ever take those? Frankly, they look disgusting, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I''ll run it by my OB first, of course!

Ooooh, I just thought of a tasty alternative: Jamba Juice. Healthy mega-calories.... mmmmm.

So expensive, but I think under the circumstances I can get away with it!

Hehe, that''s what DH got me everyday when I was preggo.
The choco moo one....yummy!

Hey, speaking of me being a cheapskate, I was in the drugstore today to get a dose of Twizlers, and I saw 4 packs of perfectly decent looking stripey onesies for $6. If I need, say, 20 onesies/wk/baby, I figure half of those can be marginally less cute (and dirt cheap) and the other half can be fancy $3 ones from Old Navy. You know, for company or whatever.

Hey they only last a few months anyway, right? I figure I only need two or three actually NICE outfits for each other them until I'm taking them out regularly.

And in other

news, I got a lovely card from my cousin today with $50 American dollars in it with a note saying 'Go buy yourself some nice fat lady clothes!' I couldn't really care less about the money itself, it's just the sweetest gesture ever! I was really touched.

Hi all! We're back, it's late, I'm huge. That's about it. I'll write more tomorrow!

But Indy, just a note, although I do have to say that the Dr. Luke book is one of the better ones that I have seen on twins, have you read all her research? Not the best studies IMO, so I would take her nutrition suggestions with a grain of salt. My doc said 1 lb per week, with a little more in the middle is great. BUT he ALSO said that the "1lb per week" is cumulative, so many people will take some time later to "catch up". So although they say 1lb per week, they don't literally mean gaining 1 lb each and every week, they mean that a total weight gain of 35-40 lbs for most twin moms is a good target. I think Ellaila's doc said something similar, and it makes sense, so I am going with it!

I didn't gain a ton in the first tri at all, but now at 18 weeks I am at about 14 lbs, so it's steadily increased the past few weeks to catch me up from the beginning. Just make sure you are eating healthfully when you can and you will be fine!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jackie is in the hosptial, possibly in labor. They''re giving her drugs to try to stop the contractions. She''ll be there for 48 hours minimum, but I''ll keep everyone posted with any info I get.

Welcome back NF! I can''t wait to hear about your trip and hopefully see some pictures.

Indy: regarding Jamba Juice, I used to work there for a few years- I could help you jamba your own smoothies at home if you have a blender. I remember most of the recipes.

QT: just had to drop in and says congrats!!!! Meena is a cutie :)

Jackie, I will be thinking of you, thanks for the update Dee!

Q, congrats, Meena is absolutely gorgeous!

Yay Q! Congratulations, she is just gorgeous.

JackieJas thinking of you. I hope it''s going well. Thanks DeeJay for the update.

Congratulations, Q!!! Meena is just gorgeous!!! I hope you labor and delivery was smooth and easy!!!

JackieJas- We''re thinking of you and hoping your ok. Hang in there!!!

NF, thanks! I literally flipped through the book in the bookstore, and given the ''extreme'' nature of the advice, I definitely intend to look more closely before following it! Thanks for the heads up!

Dee, please tell Jas we''re thinking of her. I seem to remember her saying that her bebes were measuring over 5lbs, so while I reeeeeally hope that they can stop her labour, if they don''t, the babies will be in comparatively good shape considering. I''ll cross my fingers for all three of them! Hopefully they stopped things in time. Scary!

deejay, please tell jackie that we''re keeping her and boys in our prayers. thanks so much for the update.

CONGRATULATIONS QT!!

I can''t believe you''re already home with pictures! Can''t wait to hear the birth story. I''m also impressed how close to your EDD you delivered! Yay for QT and Meena!!

popping in to say that meena is beautiful! congratulations

jas - hope that you and the twins are doing well!!! we''re all thinking about you!

QT meena is beautiful! Can''t wait for more pictures and to hear how you are doing!

Jas I hope they can stop your labor, but if they cannot your babies are strong and I''m sure everything will turn out okay!

As for me, I''m off tonight for 10 days vacation in my home town, which is actually one of the most beautiful cities in the world so it''ll be a blast! We plan to eat out every day because the restaurants there kick butt, and where we live now seriously sucks i nthat department, so I might gain a little "baby weight" this week! LOL! See everyone when I get back, have a great week!

CONGRATULATIONS Q AND WELCOME MEENA!!!! She''s so beautiful and perfect!

Dee - thanks for the update on Jackie. I hope she''s doing well. I''ll be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Pregnancy weight gain - I am a petite gal and only gained 30-35lbs depending on what start weight you use and I''m fitting into jeans 1 size larger than pre-pregnancy at 4 weeks post partum. It is really hard to see those high numbers on the scale but keep in mind that it''s all for the baby and it''s totally worth it when you finally get to hold your little bundle in your arms. I lost 20lbs by 1 week post partum (probably mostly fluid!)

DeeJay, thanks so much for the scoop on Jackie. Please let her know we''re all thinking about her and sending lots of good vibes her way. Hope she and the boys are doing well. Thanks again, I''ll be stalking this thread for more updates!
