We''ve become stalkers!

I agree it''s nice that we all care.

I miss eph! It''s been almost 2 months now since she''s posted. I hope she and the baby are doing well.

Good evening ladies!

I''m almost 5w here. And I must tell you, I am burping like no one''s business. I have NEVER been a big burper...but holy gassy lady batman! I get up, I burp. I drink some water, I burp. I blink, I burp. I pet my dogs, I burp. Luckily, my saving grace is that they are quiet burps...but sheesh! I feel like I could be the next alternative fuel source!

Does this get better?

Annnnnyway, I''m definitely wrapping my mind around the fact that I''m prego...and I think DH is actually starting to believe I''m actually KTFU. I don''t think it''ll be real to him until we hear a heartbeat. My first appointment is on September 24.

DH and my''s first anniversary is on Monday. I can''t believe it has been a year.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Lisa - Hope your U/S went well!

Indy - How are you feeling?

Jen - That is an insane amount of twins on your street! There REALLY must be something in the water!! Someone call dateline!
2.gif

Kay - A friend of mine got very bloated early on, and she went and got a simple silver band, because she felt weird being prego sans ring, not that there''s anything wrong with that!

Blen - I am going to get some pantyliners tomorrow. This watery CM is making me nuts! Also, you are such a cute preganoid! You are so teeny!!!

LIA - I''m so glad to hear your appointment went well! Thank you for the super kind welcome. I actually got a bit verklempt. Cause I''m a dork! And FWIW, I think Coby is cute! I mean, it is not Chicco or Graco, but I like it! I actually have the same issue with boys'' names. I like a lot of the long version of names, but not the nickname.

Neatfreak - Have fun at the wedding!

I am also a burp machine. Lickily, DH thinks it is hilarious, because as my pregnancy progresses the burps get more and more phenomenal and less and less quiet! LOL! Part of my first-tri nausea was an indigestion feeling and loots of burping. The indigestion passed, the burping has remained

I'm A-OK ladies! I think I must have just overdone it at the pool yesterday morning, or maybe spent too much time sitting at my desk (marathon work hourse lately) without getting up to move around. When I got up from my desk to get water, as per SNLEE's instructions, just standing up and moving around made me feel much better. And today I'm fine!

Well, other than the water that started pouring through the ceiling the middle of the night. I sent an e-mail to the guy who owns the place we're renting furnished, but so far no word, so I may have to take action myself before his ceiling comes down! YIKESS!!!!

Jen, I agree that you can officially be held responsible for all the twins around here. Contagious!!!!

NF, have fun being the Slave of Bridezilla!

Liiiiiiisaaaaa... news please! The suspense! the suspense!

Blen, I love that you cried about the bunny-mummy. DH and I watched MLK's 'I have a dream' speech on youtube because of the 45th anni, and DH never having heard it all the way through (not having grown up here), and I started to cry!! And then I cried at Obama's speech too when he was saying about all the sacrifices his grandma had made for him, and how she was watching him. Soooo sappy and sentimental, but all I could think was 'Just imagine how happy and proud his Grandma feels watching him give this speech! WAAAAAAAHHHH!"
39.gif
And thinking about that turned the taps on all over again.

Sigh, pregnoid hormones. So much fun.

LL, ah, the various permutations of trapped gas. One of the joys of hosting our snuggly parasites.
3.gif
5 weeks! Hurray! And Sept. 24th is the perfect time for the doc appt, because if all is well at that point, you can chiiiiiill since the risk of a m/c goes down to something like 5%.
36.gif
Don't you just love watching the milestone of each week pass by? It feels like an accomplishment!

Date: 8/29/2008 5:53:55 PM

Yes it does!

Folks we now know the cause of the PS Twin baby-boom... it''s Jen!! She brought the twin baby-dust with her from her neighborhood!!

9.gif

Haha! I''m already being blamed for it at the rink, and now here? (turning into 3-yr-old, tantrum-style) NO FAIR!
3.gif
ok, explain ella and jackie, hmm?
2.gif

Indy -- i''ll believe i''m contagious only after one more person i know irl has twins
2.gif
You cracked me up about crying to the MLK and Obama speeches! Pregnoid hormones rock (not). Glad you are feeling better .. take it easy!

NF -- you poor thing -- I really hope you make it through the weekend with bidezilla without ripping her a "new one"
11.gif
She sounds pleasant
38.gif

Lisa -- well......? waiting on pins and needles here... how''d it go?

OK, i promised the boys we''d go to the pool, so i guess we''re going... I feel bad b/c when i get in, it''s gonna overflow
3.gif
I''ll just tell everyone there i''ve decided to try a waterbirth (heehee)...

LOLOL!! Awesome!
9.gif

littlelysser, yup, I remember the gassy feeling. My burps weren''t silent at all! I was actually amused at how loud I could burp! It did get better though.

Indy, glad you are feeling better.

jen, you are too funny. I hope you enjoy the pool time.

Lisa, where the heck are you!? We are all waiting in suspense!

Pregnant hormones...

I started sobbing yesterday during dinner. I was having a bad day. Everyone/everything was $%&!*#&@ irritating me. I accused DH of being a meanie but really he didn''t do anything wrong. I felt much better after I got that out!

Jen, that''s crazy about your street. And I can just imagine the reaction of the people in the pool if you tell them that.
9.gif

Indy, glad to hear that it turned out to be nothing. And you got me all teary with MLK/Obama. I even started crying when listing to "A Boy Named Sue" a few days ago, because the dad knew he couldn''t be there and wanted to help prepare his son for a tough world. (Um, WHAT?!)

NF, good luck with the wedding!

LL, I get a fair amount of phone calls at work and I am SO GRATEFUL that my phone has a mute button. I''m burping constantly. At least people on the other end don''t hear me (I''m quick at hitting mute), but I''m wondering if my coworkers are going to start saying anything.
23.gif
The watery CM has gotten better over the past few days. I still have a little, but it''s not as abundant as before.

Lisa, I hope everything''s going well!

SNLee, I forgot if I told you, but you looked really good in the belly shot that you posted.

The vomiting wasn''t bad at all, and hasn''t been back since. I didn''t feel nauseated before or after, and it tasted just like the choc ice cream I had eaten a little bit before.
5.gif

Thanks for all the compliments! I know that my belly is 90% bloat, 10% potato chips, and 0% baby right now.
2.gif
I feel big, but it''s partially because I wasn''t expecting any body changes this early (except for bigger boobs) and I keep hearing that long torsos means more room for stuff to grow up before out. I spoke with a woman my height today who said that everyone around her thought that she was just eating more than usual until she hit around 7 months. I think the bloat''s gone down a little bit, so maybe I''ll end up having a similar experience to hers afterall.

I met the woman because I responded to a Craigslist ad for a lot of maternity clothing, and the woman posting was my height and build. I now have 3 shopping bags stuffed with maternity clothing, both casual and office appropriate. And the fit of the pants is amazing. And, she told me that she''d give me her Medela In Style Pump for free in a couple of months (wants to make sure she doesn''t need to use it again). All I''ll need to do is spend $30 or so on new tubing (since you shouldn''t reuse that). She also just threw in a couple of pregnancy and baby things that she had lying around and didn''t need anymore. At one point, she asked me where I was planning to deliver and was so excited when I told her at home - she gave birth to her second at home and loved it. It was really fun meeting her.

When my mom was here last weekend, she wanted to go to yard sales and look for baby stuff. It''s amazing how much we got for free simply because people wanted to get it out of their houses. For about $30, we ended up with a bouncy chair, a boppy, baby monitors, swaddling blankets, some onesies and tee shirts, a bunch of toys, a play mat, a bath mat thing, a white noise machine, two fitted cloth diapers, an umbrella stroller, a wipe warmer, a couple of those things that you put in car windows to shade the baby, and a baby Patagonia fleece. We really weren''t intending to get so much this early, but it was just so cheap and in good condition. Plus it''s going to be too cold for yard sales soon, and they won''t be starting back up until just after the baby arrives.

I finally told my best friend from waaaay back that I''m pregnant last night. I''d been trying to get in touch with her for a couple of weeks, but she just moved and started grad school and has been really busy. Anyway, her first reaction (after "OMG!") was "Was this planned?", followed by "What are you going to do?"
7.gif
I was hoping that she would seem happier about it.

I started feeling kinda bad this afternoon (nothing worrisome, just a bit fatigued and nauseous), so I came and laid down on the couch. Then hubby walked into the room with the baby monitor, plugged it in next to me ("just in case you need something, but not anything ridiculous like a chocolate milkshake"), and left to get other stuff done around the house. This is hilarious.

Blen, your DH sounds awesome. (Big shout out to mine who is awesome too!) It''s so cute with the trying to find you something you wanted to eat (twigs? bunnies?) and the baby monitor.

I''m sorry your friend wasn''t happier for you. People are so odd sometimes. Do you know why she was upset like that? Was she projecting her own situation onto you? When my BFF found out we were having twins she yelled "I HATE YOU!!! I ALWAYS WANTED TWINS!!!!" (she was 3/4 kidding) but then she remembered how, all our lives, the same darn things happen to us, one after the other so then she was all "Wait a minute, if you''re having twins, I''m BOUND to have TWINS TOO!"

And yes, I did suggest she sign up on PS to increase her odds even more. But maybe now I''ll just send her to Jen''s place.
9.gif

Littlelysser, very belated congratulations on your pregnancy! Totally identify with the gassy feeling-for me the uncomfortable feeling did last awhile but others got over it faster.

Blenheim and IndependentGal I am so sorry that your friends weren''t more....enthusiastic. Some people don''t know how to react. I have a great baby book that says basically however anyone reacts to your pregnancy, your belly, your enthusiasm for nachos whilst sick or your choices about parenting etc...it''s not you, it''s them! That has really helped me deal with some inappropriate comments.

Snlee can totally identify with the rollercoaster of emotion. I think you''re perfectly justified-my patience would be pretty strained after that much bed rest. I hope you can get up and about soon. I miss eph too-I hope she and baby are okay.

LIA, yay for a good OB appointment! Here''s to many more ''routine'' appointments! I think Coby is a cute nickname and I had to google Kobe so y''know it will work overseas as well.

Jen, yay for you for hangin'' onto those girls-not long now!

Janine I was wondering how you''re going! How did the move go? I hope I haven''t missed a post about that!

Curly you''re getting close-sorry your mom has not been well. I hope things are settling down for you.

Kay, hope things are settling down for you too.

Sorry I''ve been so MIA. One of my near and dear friends went into prem labour recently and delivered at 29 weeks so to be honest I''ve skipped a fair bit of the thread and I will probably struggle to catch up. Her bubs is doing okay but obviously not out of the woods. It''s a bit scary - I am 28 weeks and no way known ready to have this baby, particularly not to have the baby and leave hospital without him/her
15.gif
. So I really feel for her and it scares me a bit that I might go into labour (silly I know but it''s not something that I''d thought much about!).

Thanks for the shoutouts-I am doing pretty well otherwise. We are still gearing up for a move but have a far bit to do before that happens. I''ve made it into the third trimester (yay!) but fortunately still feel pretty good.

Quick question:
I might have read something a few pages back about soft cheeses-sorry if this is off topic but I''ve been avoiding cheeses not only because they might be unpasteurised but also because they have live bacteria cultures. I know the cultures in yogurt are okay because they don''t cause a bacteraemia. Does anyone have any references about soft cheeses with bacterial cultures and whether they are demonstrably safe? All cheeses in Aus are pasteurised but the advice here is still to avoid soft cheeses for that reason so I''d be interested to know what advice others have received!

IG/Gemma, I'm pretty sure that she was projecting her own situation on me. She's not in a relationship and is in a different financial situation. A few of her questions made me think that she's just worried about if we're going to be able to handle it - am I able to take maternity leave (yes - 6 weeks paid, 6 unpaid), do we have enough room for the baby (yes - 4 bedroom house), and a couple of things like that. IG, sorry about your friend's reaction too.

Gemma, your poor friend. The chances that you'll go into labor soon are pretty slim, so you probably don't need to worry unless your body starts telling you otherwise.

All that I've read regarding cheeses is that unpasturized soft cheeses pose an increased risk of being contaminated by listeria monocytogenes, which can pass to the fetus and harm it. The live bacteria cultures in yogurt typically contain lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria, which naturally live in the intestinal tract and can be good for you. I'm not sure what type of live bacteria cultures are in cheeses, but the pregnancy-related food recommendations that I have read have only mentioned avoiding unpasturized soft cheeses.

ETA - I'm too lazy to go back upthread and try to find it, but to whoever was mentioning tail bone pain (Erika?) - do you know what causes that? I've had it for a couple of days now. It's so weird.

Gemma, I''m sorry to hear about your friend going into preterm labor. I wish her, baby, and family all the best.

Jackie, I can''t wait for an update from you! Welcome home to you, Jackson, and Logan!

Hey guys - Just wanted to check in...we were at a wedding we left early.

I'm having some spotting - brown and pink. And some cramping. I'm not feeling very hopeful at this point...and really, I figured if the worse is happening, I'd prefer that it not happen at a wedding of 250 people.

Sigh.

eta - I'm 5 weeks today...

oh, LL, hang in there!! sometimes a little spotting can be normal. and the cramping most definitely is!
i''m sending VERY STICKY thoughts your way....

keep us posted, okay??

LL, hang in there!! I had lots of spotting, including bright red, at about 5-6 weeks. Actually, a full 20% of women who carry a pregnancy to term have some bleeding along the way, and you can have a full on gushy bleed and still have a 50% chance of not miscarrying so please DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE!!!

Call your OB. There should be a weekend person on call and see if you can get yourself an ultrasound. It may be too early for anything reassuring on u/s. But at least maybe the doc can reassure you a little?

Can you tell us more about the cramping? Is it like period cramping or more like stretching? How painful?

Lysser- Everything will be ok! I had 4 different episodes of bleeding in my first 12 weeks with my last baby and he'll be turning 3 in 2 weeks

Spotting in early pregnancy is very common, even though it's so scary!

ETA: Call your OB! They should get you in asap for an exam and ultrasound!

Yes, just to say, I remember how scary it is, even when you try hard to talk sense to yourself. Just try your hardest to hang in there. There is LOTS of hope. LOTS!
