Heheheh! Truuuuue! Your girls will keep the balance on the girlie side for quite some time! And I''m still holding out hope that ours might be girls too.

Congratulations on 30 weeks by the way. You are sooooo close to the super-safe-zone now! Just keep reminding them that they are still grounded. GROUNDED!!! Do you hear me girls?!

dd and indy...must be nice to have the news out in the open now - congrats!

Except for the stream of advice I''m now getting from the support staff. ARGH! I was doing some work in the lounge and eating a piece of chocolate and one of the secretaries was all "Here, have some of my fruit. You should be eating healthy things!"

Oy.
20.gif

What I want is some of Lisa''s Thai noodle soup now. mmmm. Actually, I scheduled a meeting this afternoon... at an ice cream shop. Is that unprofessional, do you think?

We need to stop mentioning food around here! I''ve avoided McDonalds thus far but now I''m craving their fries too!

Indy, I rented both documentaries through Netflix. Then I found out you could watch the Nova one online! Link posted above. Yay for getting the talk over with your boss and I''m glad she is supportive. That''s great you could bring your babies into the office if you needed to! I wish I could! I see parents bringing their children in every once in awhile but it''s not ideal for me since I have a cube.

dreamer, yay for telling coworkers about your pregnancy! It''s an exciting time!

jen, yay, 30 weeks! Congrats! Isn''t it a great feeling to pass that 30 week mark!?

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Well I just had a face-to-face with one of my graduate school supervisors. I was most apprehensive about how she would react since she was fairly negative towards my friends who had kids in grad school Shock of shocks, she said she thinks this is a great time for me to have a kid! I said that''s great to hear because I was worried about how the faculty would react given the reactions in the past. She said that being graduated makes a big difference, as does having a really good record already established (as my other supervisor has said before, she pointed out that my publication record is good enough to get tenure at most institutions). She commented that having a child in the second year of a post-doc is ideal, and is certainly much much easier than having a kid in the first few years as a new professor. She also thought that if potential hiring committees know I am preggers they may take it as a sign that I am looking to settle down and will therefore stick around rather than seek greener pastures in a couple years. Who''d of thought a big belly would help?? Time will tell.

YAY JACKIE!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
can''t WAIT to hear the birth story and see pics of those adorable boys!!!!

You are bad! Ever since watching Super Size Me I have bad images of McDonald's and try to only eat there maybe once a year. But I did have Popeyes chicken and some greasy chinese onion pancakes yesterday! Yum!

Sorry, NO more food talk from me now!

Indy -- they are SOOOOOO grounded right now

And I have to admit, I wouldn''t mind it one bit if yours ended up being girls b/c then i''d have another girly-twin mamma to go through this with
1.gif

DD -- crossing my legs is easier said than done at this point

sbde and snlee -- thanks for the 30 wk congrats -- to me, it''s a big milestone

I don''t know what''s gotten into me today after such a big, out of the norm breakfast this morning, but we jst came back from picking up the van at the shop and the girls insisted that we all stop for ice cream on the way home
3.gif
I swear this is NOT where that 57 poiunds came from -- i do not usually eat like this!!! However, my boys did not compain at all -- and it was nice to do something nice for them too (kid''ll make you justify anything)

Did I tell you all about the lady at home depot this morning?? After IHOP, we went to home depot so i could get some new bolts to put back together our newly painted daybed for the nursery (it went from teal to raspberry pink :)) This lady literally STOPPED me to ask how much longer i had until i was due and i told her "8 weeks, they''re twins" and she was like "oh my god, i just had in vitro and i do NOT want to ever look like that!!!!" If she wasn''t so darned cute and sweet , i may have been offended --- but she really meant no harm. haha. When I''m "out" i walk like i do the rest of the time -- like a 90-yr old whose handicapped -- seriously, inch at a time (it''s very frustrating). Like the doc said yesterday, i''m not running any races anytime soon. :) Today i had a cart to lean on, so i felt somewhat hidden in the belly area -- i guess not! i probably should post a new belly shot -- you guys need a good laugh :)

Hey Ms Lisa, what about the NT scan? Would you do that first to see if your risk was much lower than you thought? Then you can always move straight to the CVS if necessary, or totally avoid it if all looks good.

Congrats, Jackie!!!!

Indy, I seriously laughed at your coming out story. That''s awesome that you can bring the kiddos to work with you.

DD, that''s great that it went so well!

Jen, congrats on 30 weeks!

I''m still feeling really good today, and I''m still ravenously hungry. Only I get full so fast when I eat.

Thanks for the maternity clothes replies. I''ve shortened my goal of waiting until 2nd tri to waiting as long as DD did.
2.gif
Kay, those pants look great. Thanks! I had just resigned myself to spending that much money on pants that I can only temporarily wear when I checked out Craigslist on a whim. Someone who''s my height and build and had her baby 2 weeks before I''m due (diff year, of course) is trying to get rid of her preggo clothes! Score!! We''re going to meet up this weekend so I can try stuff on. If it doesn''t work, I''m definitely ordering the pants Kay posted.

My pregancy confession of the day: at work, I spotted an unattended bag of potato chips on an unoccupied desk and I took half of it and ate it. Yummo. I''m still not sure if it belonged to someone, but if it did they shouldn''t have just left an open bag of chips where a hungry pregnant woman could find it.
5.gif

SK8TRJen: you made me laugh so hard with that stranger''s comment. I don''t think you look big at all.

Hey Ms Lisa, what about the NT scan? Would you do that first to see if your risk was much lower than you thought? Then you can always move straight to the CVS if necessary, or totally avoid it if all looks good.
Unfortunately most of the genetic no no''s are often not picked up by the NT. Down''s maybe but not some of the "incompatible w/ life" horrors. Even current testing doesn''t pick up on all of the trisomies so I guess you do what you can.

Yes NT''s are reasurring but not exactly the right testing for my age. This is true for the triple marker AFP as well.

There are prob''s w/ CVS however. You can get a placental mosaic effect where they draw from mom''s tissue instead of fetus b/c it''s so early it''s hard to distinguish.

I guess I won''''t be able to relax until I get to Jen''s stage at 30 wks! Jen that is an important milestone for sure.

I would feel pretty strung-out if we didn''t do all we could to detect problems ahead of time. Even if there is a m/c risk.

Although, 3D US is so cool and can visualize any gross physical issues like cleft palate. But they like to do 3D around 28-30 wks to allow enough amniotic fluid. The baby looks kinda skeletal w/o the proper fat layer though.

I don''t know why I keep eating......maybe b/c I''m such a worry wort but we don''t have much time before our critical period is over.

I think it''s b/c I feel so exhausted and I''m used to feeding myself to feel better in a non-pg. state.

I gained 30llbs w/ Olivia. Who knows where this weight gain is going......I think I started this pg. around 107 llbs. 5''3".

Lisa, I see what you mean! If it makes you feel any better (WARNING STATS NERD ATTACK COMING ON!!!!), a 1 in 91 chance is just a hair over 1%. Them''s still super-slim odds, my lovely! So, odds that are certainly worth being vigilant about, given the stakes, but still soooo remote that it''s not worth losing sleep over until you know there''s actually a problem.
4.gif
Know what I mean?

You might be carrying twinkies, so you eat to your heart''s content! You gotta pack on those pounds fast with twins, if the m/s doesn''t prevent you. I''m up almost 10 pounds at 14wks3days and all belly, if that gives you the idea. And besides, better too much than too little. Plus, food is just so damn good isn''t it. I think I''m going to get me some food right now... nyum nyum nyum pumpkin seeds!

Can''t wait to hear about your u/s!

The rest of the bag of chips was gone today. Whoops. It tasted stale enough that I really didn''t think it belonged to anyone.

I was a crazy preggo last night. I was hungry but couldn''t think of anything I wanted to eat. Hubby suggested some things in the house that sounded not at all appetizing. He then started giving me Chloe''s suggestions - dog food, grass, twigs, bunnies. For some reason, I then thought of how the bunny''s mama might miss it if I ate it and I started sobbing. So Hubby ran out to get me ice cream, getting to the grocery store about 3 minutes before it closed. And then when I tried to brush my teeth a little bit later, I threw up for the first time. Yikes.

I decided to go ahead and take a belly picture. I''m at 8 weeks exactly.

Blenheim8wkpudge.jpg

Cute belly, Blen. It''s gonna start growing soon!!! :)

Congrats on the babies. I wanna see a picture!!
