Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Hello preggo ladies on PS!
35.gif
It''s official: my husband and I are trying to concieve! I got bit by the baby bug a few months ago but we decided to wait and now it''s time. I have less than 1 week left of my bc pills and then we are going for it. I went to my family doctor on Monday for a pre-conception visit and everything is fine. She reccommended a pre-natal vitamin and gave me some referrals for OB''s in my insurance network. It is such an exciting time for us. I never really wanted children until I met my husband and we''ve been married 2 years now. Our mothers were so excited when we told them which is such a great feeling.

I''m really feeling like I''m surrounded by preggos these days - bosses wife is expecting baby #3 (boy), owner of the dance studio is expecting baby #2 (also a boy), gal at the jeweler just finished her first trimester with her first and one of my college girlfriends is expecting babies #2 and #3 (twins) in March - not to mention all of the lovely ladies on here.

I''ve been following this thread a bit but skipped pages 26-49 in order to get caught up to what''s going on right now. Happy pregnancies everyone and I''ll keep you posted!

Jess
Welcome Jess!! How exciting, best wishes to you!!!

At first I didn''t know what you were talking about with your d*ldosounds! I have never been pregnant, but have had plenty of ultrasounds, some with a full bladder for the outside type...and some with an empty bladder for the vaginal type. I do believe that the vaginal ultrasounds have gotten worse over the years, more invasive. So I think I know the etymon of d*ldosounds.

Deb

Jess, congrats! Try to have one cycle OFF your BC before you start trying. My doctor likes 2 cycles just to get all the hormones out of your body. I stopped BC a few months before we started to try for this reason. I got preggo the first month (we TTC) so it can go VERY fast. Otherwise don''t stress about it. Just try to relax and let nature takes its course. Hope this thread has some good info for you!

Deb, I didn''t think it was that uncomfortable. Maybe she was just gentle. Actually I had more discomfort with the external b/c she was REALLY pressing down in some areas. I guess it was a much longer scan so maybe it is hard to judge. At least you do not have to have a full bladder now! I have had to in the past (for my cysts) and ohhhhh that is painfully uncomfortable!!!

Tgal: D*ldosound...riotious! I love it. I''ve had SOOOO many I''ve lost count. Between miscarriages, polyp & fibroid surgeries, and both successful pregnancies, I usually have a few. (If you have an early ultrasound in pregnancy, its easier to see certain things with the internal ultrasound) I get to have a D*ldosound on Friday morning....They need to look at my cervix, & Miss Delaney''s head has been blocking any good views for the last few months. So I''ll know friday if I have to schedule a C, or if I get to do this the "old fashioned" way. (fingers crossed....no C!). As for your blob, I second Tacori...if docs ain''t worried, then its no biggie. I bet it was a twin that didn''t make it (so you are seeing a yolk sac that has yet to be absorbed). Happens often... Great about Ttot''s heartbeat! And yes, that was your maternal gene kicking in. Get ready for not being able to hear/read/see anything bad happening to anyone''s children. Even if you were sensitive before, its amazing how close to home stuff starts to hit once you get one of these monkeys under your own roof.

Diva: WELCOME! And good luck! (and have fun trying).

Ella: yay! Glad your leg is nothing serious. I have random pains all over, and you have 2 babies in there, so you''re probably in for a lot of different types of aches n pains.

What I miss:

Sleeping on my back
Wine
fabulous unpastuerized cheeses
Sushi
cold sub sandwiches
Wine
Sex
Running
Dancing/hiphop
Wine
Having one chin
Being able to polish my own toenails (I can, but its hella uncomfortable)
Wearing normal clothes
Wine

Hmmm...notice a common thread? I have 5 bottles of REALLY good wine squirrelled away in the basement. I can''t wait to open one after she gets here & enjoy a nice big red...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm with some really awesome cheese. ooh and some figs or grapes. mmmmmmmm.

Welcome, Jess
35.gif
-- and good luck! Hope to hear from you with good news soon!

Am I the only one that actually likes maternity clothes? I think they''re really cute (well, the summer stuff at least) and I am so in love with stretchy waistbands!

Diver, good luck with the appt. Friday!

Here''s a part II of MrsS''s pregnancy post earlier (I like #8
9.gif
):

10 WAYS TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE "ESTROGEN ISSUES"

1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem.
2. You''re adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet.
3 The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans.
4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everything you say.
5. You''re using your cellular phone to dial up every bumper sticker that says: "How''s my driving-call 1- 800-".
6. Everyone''s head looks like an invitation to batting practice.
7. Everyone seems to have just landed here from "outer space".
8. You''re not as nice as you used to be and you used to be a bitch
9. You''re sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy.
10. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you bought it yesterday.

Love part II ellaila. #8 cracked me up and #10.

Ella, I like maternity clothes too (the pants are SOOO comfy!) I am having a little trouble now since my belly is HUGE. Some of the maternity shirts are getting too short!
37.gif
I am not looking to bare any skin in public. I still have about 10 weeks! Not sure HOW my belly can get any larger. Surprisingly enough I have a few shirts from The Limited that still fit nicely. I think they are "smalls" too
33.gif

Not sure if I told you all my new found love for angel food cake (I gotta be carrying a girl right???) I had a huge yummy lunch. Mac & cheese and carrots. For dessert I had a single serve angel food cake (looks like a muffin kind of) whipped cream and strawberries
18.gif
Such a good meal!!!

Tacori: mmm your lunch sounds awesome! I had mini-chicken corndogs, chips, cherry tomatoes, and half an apple....LOL.

naptime...

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Mmmmm, mac and cheese! Don''t you love how being pregnant lets you justify every food you eat? Peanut butter cups are "protein," mac and cheese and ice cream are "calcium," etc. Makes eating so much more fun
21.gif

Silly questions about maternity clothes. I ordered some Gap mat. jeans online, and I got two different sizes - a 4 and a 6, I''m normally a 4. Say the 4s fit me now (haven''t tried them on, this is a hypothetical), realistically how long would they fit me for? I''m at 20 weeks now and am definitely putting on weight (have gained 16 lbs. as of yesterday), and I think now I''m in the 1-lb-a-week stretch, right (though I think I actually put on 2lbs in each of the past two weeks)? So even if the 4s fit now, it''d probably make more sense to keep the 6s since those will likely fit me better in two months? Or do I just say what the hell and keep them both? I haven''t bought too many mat. pants yet, so I''m not sure how long the lifespan of them is bellywise!

Oh, and another maybe silly question, but Diver, when you got your portraits done, did they provide you with the clothes or were those your own? I''m pretty sure I''ve seen studios that offer clothes to wear, but I wasn''t sure if that was the standard or not.

Ellaila: "peanut butter cups are protein". LOL! Ok...I will say that my adorable Citizens mat. jeans that I majorly splurged on in my first trimester are no longer comfortable. I can fit in them, but the band slides down under my belly & then my belly is sooooooo low that the jeans cut into them & make wearing them longer than a half hour impossible. Oh well, they''ll be cute after the baby gets here until I can get back into my normal clothes...

(I wore maternity jeans for 2 months after Jake was born...joy joy...and then the only reason I got out of those was because I went out and bought size 10 jeans instead of my normal 6''s---but I was not dieting either because I was nursing...which did not take any weight off me).

You have no idea how your body will grow, or where your belly will land. You can keep the 2nd pair to wait and see, but I did notice that my last month of being pregnant with Jake, and being pregnant with this baby, the stuff that fit in my 1st & 2nd tri is not fitting at the END of my 3rd. And I can''t imagine with twins how that will go! I''ve only gained 22-23lbs so far, and I notice my shirts are doing what Tacori was talking about! Too short! Argh!

As for my maternity shoot: I wore my own clothes except for the ones in the river...that was 2 yards of gauze that the photographer had. She wrapped a thinner strip around my chest & tied it in the back, & the longer strip went around my waist & was secured with a hot pink "Chip Clip" in back.
2.gif
Our downtown shoot ( I don''t have those pics yet) I wore a black dress & heels....the ones at my house I wore a pair of my pre-preg jeans (OMG....torture getting into those) and a pre-preg tank top scrunched up over my belly. She just told me what to wear & then went into my closet (because she''s a good friend who I flew out here to do the pics---most photogs will just tell you what to bring....she also told Steve what to wear & how to dress Jake)

Let me know what cities you guys are in & I can ask Aimee who is good in that area if you like...she''s networked with quite a few photographers nationwide & has helped a handful of the girls on our December Darlings 2004 Board (where I know her from..we have sons the same age) get some awesome shots done. I can post the photographers websites for you to look at.

So how is everyone feeling this morning? I swear, I feel like I''m in a constant state of morning sickness/stomach flu. Ugh. I am so DONE being preggers! But I have my bags packed, the baby''s clothes washed, and every thing ready, so of course, she''ll be overdue!
20.gif

Maybe I''ll post pics of dh''s progress on the nursery. Awww...my little man just gave me his "lovies" (stuffed animals) I''d better go play with him!

mercoledi....great link! thanks...

I''ve been staring at your avatar to no avail...what on EARTH is that?

Diver- I just changed it, maybe I need to find something else? It''s a water lily bud with a dragonfly perched on one of the outer petals. The buds are a little scary looking, but the flowers are beautiful! The water is dyed black, maybe that''s why it looks funny?

Haha, I was going to ask about your avatar, too -- it''s very mysterious, Mercoledi! Now that you''ve explained it, I can see it, but without that explanation, I was thinking it was someone drunk with a lampshade on his/her head (somehow). I couldn''t really see that either, but that''s the vibe I kept getting from it
2.gif

Well, seems my question about maternity pants was irrelevant because those size 4s fit me perfectly ... for probably the next, oh, two hours or so until I outgrow them! I haven''t tried on the 6s yet, but I know they''ll be too long but as long as the waist is comfy, I can just get them hemmed. As much as I''d love some fabulous designer jeans, I think that Gap (or equivalent) is about as high-end as I''m willing to go for temporary clothes. Though I will allow myself to splurge on something just too adorable for my shower of course (if I can manage to look adorable at 28 weeks pg with twins, that is!)!

Diver, thanks for the info on maternity photo shoots. We''re in Mass, so if your photog knows any good ones out here, def. let me know! We just moved about 45 minutes west of Boston, but we''re certainly willing to go in town.

Did you feel this sick with Jake too? Or is this pregnancy a lot worse for you?

Other preggies and lurkers ...
35.gif

Eeeeek, my first case of pregnancy heartburn has just reared its ugly and painful head!!! Noooooooooooooo
38.gif
Like I''m not uncomfortable enough with my ribs right now ... God, I feel like my whole torso is about to explode! (Waah, waaah, poor ellaila, I know. But if I can''t vent here, then where can I?) Guess I''m going to have to start keeping some Tums with me now!

On a lighter note, have any of you ever heard of/experienced your NOSE growing while being pregnant?! Hasn''t happened to me or anyone I know, but there''s a thread about it on the twins forum that had me cracking up! There''s supposedly an old wives tale that if your nose gets big, you''re having a girl -- haha! (Tacori, how''s your nose?) Some of the posts were really funny! Here''s one: "My dh likes to joke that at 31 weeks my nose was measuring 39 weeks!" And another was joking about having stretch marks on her nose instead of her belly! The weird things that happen to the body, eh? Ahh well, at least some we can joke about!

oh my, oh my, oh my!!! I haven't been lurking on this thread lately and JUST realized that TGal is preggo. CONGRATS, girl!

wow- first Tacori, then Ella, and now TGal. All fellow 2006 brides! So cool to watch y'all's progress, as well as that of the other mommies. BTW- Divergrrl, Jake's bedding is so darn cute!

yeah, I do lurk here and there. we're not planning on TTC until next year. There's just so many unknowns for us right now. DH's employer has been going thru a rough patch, and they officially made the "impending layoffs" announcement yesterday (even though everyone knew for months that this was coming). So if he gets laid off then we're certainly have to leave L.A as there's no other biotech company in the area. Whatever happens, happens!

I did start reading "taking charge of your fertility" late last month and I'm sooo overwhelmed! I guess I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about my body and "stuff", as I don't have a lot of time to kill- I'll be 36 on Sunday. So once again, whatever happens, happens!

ella, my whole FACE has grown! What does that mean?
2.gif
I was a size 4 too pre-preg and I wore XS pants/bottoms from Old Navy until my 6th month or so. I am in smalls now except my XS jeans still fit which makes NO sense at all (not sure if that helps you at all). There are many things I can no longer wear. I have a cute jean skirt but the band is too narrow (perfect for the 1st half of my pregnancy) but too uncomfortable now! I find the wider bands are the more comfortable now. Most my non maternity shirts (that I still worse b/c of the style) no longer are long enough. I still have a few that work.

Diver, your weight is doing great! I am already at 30+ lbs at *almost* 30 weeks
23.gif
32.gif
I have accepted it and no longer want to jump off our roof. I am at peace with it. I actually just read "Belly Laughs" and she said all her friends gained 50 lbs and she gained 60!
6.gif
I don''t think that''s in the cards for me but made me feel better! I should post a belly shot. Not sure HOW I could get any bigger. Seriously my belly is HUGE.

Charger, don''t stress out until you have something to worry about. Most women on this thread at NO problem getting preggo. Isn''t it feel like we have been married for longer than a year?!? Last summer I was planning a wedding/getting married. This summer planning a baby!

mercoledi, cute clothes! I am trying to be good and buy the bare min. though

Coming out of lurkdom to tell you my sister's nose was HUGE during her pregnancy (and she had a boy). I was shocked to see how big it got.

Not ready to have a baby, sneaking out the backdoor now...

Good to see all the future mommies are doing well!

This week, I scheduled my 'preconception appointment' for October! I was so excited after I got off the phone, and then I felt like such a nerd for being so excited.
3.gif
I stop taking the pill in October, but all of the women in a TTC community I lurk in said I should start taking my temps now to get used to it. I think I'll go buy a BBT tomorrow.

Also, FH and I had a discussion and decided that instead of March as a concrete TTC month, we're just going to see how we feel after the wedding and go with the flow. Could still be March, but it also could be sooner.

Heartburn: Since I have had HORRIFIC heartburn with both pregnancies (the wive''s tale is that it means your baby has lots of hair....Jake did, so Ellaila & I will have to see if our 3 have hair this time) I have some advice on how to battle it.

Tums: DONT TAKE THEM. My OB told me that their active ingredient "calcium bicarbonate" actually only temporarily relieves heartburn & actually causes the stomach to produce more acid. I''ve found this to be true. He recommends papaya tablets (found mine at Wild Oats) for an all natural remedy, or Mylanta (or any other antacid with magnesium in it). Since mine is toxic this time around he''s got me on 150mg of Zantac in the morning & 150mg at night -- I take that every day, but of course, clear any drug like Zantac with your own provider....

Food: small meals frequently....stay upright for an hour after eating. Don''t eat high fat foods. Drink skim milk with meals (it coats the tummy), don''t eat fried foods, candy, etc. High fiber breads, fruits, lean protein, and veggies are easy on the tummy. Drink lots of water.

Hope that helps. I find that my Zantac, Mylanta, & papaya tablets do a fairly good job....but I''m still sick as a dog, and NO, I was not this sick with Jake. My OB wouldn''t ok me to take the Zantac last time (he just came on board with that in the last year---new studies say its ok) and I while it was bad, I don''t remember it feeling like stomach flu & making me queasy.

I also bought some Pregnancy tea, it has peppermint & raspberry leaf in it, so it helps too. Oh! I also guzzle plain sparkling water like its going out of style.

Chargergrrl: Welcome! I loved that book you are reading. I started trying in January 2003 (I was 32)....and was charting my cycles monthly. (I had a uterine polyp removed in Feb 2002). I learned how to "count" my days thanks to that book. (I''d been doing it all wrong) I didn''t get pregnant, but in July 2003, I started bleeding every day (just like when I had my polyp) so my OB checked me out & it turned out to be a fibroid tumor that time & referred me to a special surgeon to remove it. Well I brought my "Taking Charge of your Fertility Charts" to the gyno surgeon & he said that I was "ovulating beautifully" and as soon as he removed the fibroid (it was dangling on a stalk inside my uterus) that I''d get pregnant in a heartbeat. Boy he was NOT kidding. Once we got that fibroid that was preventing an egg from implanting out of me, I got pregnant 4 times the first try...I lost two...but I kept the best two...
30.gif
. Don''t worry about your age....I was 34 when I had Jake & Miss Delaney is due 3 days before my 37th birthday. I had an amnio this time & was surprised when the genetic counselor told me that my chances of having a healthy child were 97%. I guess we worry so much, but in reality, we 30-somethings have very little to worry about.
9.gif

Good luck & my best advice? Have fun trying. I did the "honey get home I''m ovulating" thing once with DH & he said he felt like Seabiscuit & it was no fun. So after that I just went back to to feminine wiles & seduction & good wine...it was MUCH more fun & both my kids were conceived romantically...(I kept the ovulation kits to myself--he knew we were "trying" but he never knew if it was the "window" or not.....oh and btw...I used Dollar Store ones...MUCH CHEAPER...LOL...and if you have the patience to wait until you are late...Dollar Store pregnancy tests work well too) You can chart your temps from that book & use www.fertilityfriend.com ''s free service to chart them. Also www.peeonastick.com is simply my fave pre-conception website. I think I just love the name. LOL....

Ellaila: Also, OldNavy Maternity has some cute jeans on sale & they are about half the price of the gap ones. I''m trying so hard NOT to buy anything else, but we are having a really mild (and somewhat chilly) summer, so I kind of need jeans. Oh well.

Somebody stop me....I went to BRU AGAIN today & blew another $55 bucks. (it was $75, but I had $20 in giftcards). I bought blingbling pacifiers, shampoo cup, formula, a cute seat protector for my car with toy storage for Jake to go between the carseats, an adorable pink sweater with brown grosgrain ribbon & crystal & pearl buttons, it has a matching pink/chocolate plaid skirt. OMG---someone gave me some pink ruffled tights that will look GREAT with it.

I just spent $175 there on Sunday. Yeah right you don''t have to buy anything with #2.

AAAGHHHH....TODAY IS DRAGGING! My ultrasound (d*ldosound) is tomorrow & I''m on pins & needles to find out about my fibroid. Sorry if I keep bringing it up, but the ONLY nice thing about it is finally knowing what my fate is. Will I be scheduling a C if it grew? Or can I just relax & wait to go into labor. I keep trying to think of only positives no matter what the outcome. For instance if I do have to schedule a C, it will be easy for my family to plan their stay here to take care of Jake, I''ll get my tubes tied, and I won''t have to worry about an emergency C-section (almost had one with Jake). But if my tumor did not grow and/or is not blocking my cervix, then I can just go into labor on my own (kind of romantic in itself...I was induced before) & enjoy a relatively easy recovery.

And...My dh is coming home tonight! He''ll be in late, but he''ll be able to go to the ultrasound with me & see our girl. Yay!
36.gif
He hates missing the big appts. I already have my stepmom babysitting, so that''s good.

Tgal: Where are you? How are you feeling?

That''s all for now....

I know a couple people who had their feet grow. One gal was enough that she had to buy all new shoes. Haven''t heard of anyones nose growing....

diver, just wanted you to know i''m thinking of you today. no matter what happens, it''s still a win/win b/c you''ll end up with your beautiful baby girl

I was so excited for mine too (I went in on Monday of this week).

We are TTC right away. I messed up my bc pills earlier this cycle (unintentionally) and we''ve been baby dancing so there is a (small) chance that I could be preggo. Just playing the waiting game to see if AF comes next week. I even feel pretty good on the prenatal vitamins. Normally any type of multi-vitamin makes me so sick so I''m surprised. I''ve been taking it at night so that could be why. It''s so exciting for us and my parents are out of their skin with excitement. They are already making plans for the little one!

Diva, I take mine at night too (and have never had any problems). Good luck making a baby!

Ellen, I feet are swollen. I had to buy new tennis shoes. My mom's feet grew 1/2 in with every pregnancy.
23.gif
Luckily I have small feet to start with.

Diver, What did the doc say???

Okay, I have exciting news! I put together my first piece of furniture ALL by MYSELF!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
I know it probably seems silly to normal people but it is a milestone for me! I put together the changing table and it looks GREAT. One step closer. Also I found perfect bins/baskets for the top shelf. You guys won't BELEIVE how perfect they are. The green matches the fabric AND it has a scalloped (sp?) edge like on the curtain! I was beyond giddy when I saw them (so glad no one else was in the aisle!) and the shelf fits 3 of them (perfect for diapers/wipes/ointment/receiving blankets/or whatever other million things a baby needs! Hehe!!!!
9.gif

ETA: DH finished the crown molding last night and is going to start painting tonight. I will post pics in the nursery thread *once* there is anything worth posting. He is leaving for Vegas in the AM so it won't be done til next week. I am just so excited PROGRESS has been made!

Yay for you Tacori!!!

36.gif
Please post some pics. Btw, my feet grew too. Started out with a size 6 and after 2 kids am a size 7. Not too bad, as 7 is easier to find than a size 6!!
9.gif
I have to put some furniture together for DD who has her own apartment at college this year. I hope it''s not too hard.

Lisa, DH was proud as well b/c I usually get frusterated and give up. I just really took my time. If you have her help it will be tons easier. With my big belly the hardest part was moving around plus if I had had another hand to help it would have gone faster. I had to prop the pieces up on whatever I could find so I could hold the piece in place AND screw it at the same time. Sometimes the drawings are hard to understand (for me at least!). I suggest taking a moment in the begining to figure out what screws are for what and make sure you have all the right parts (and amount). I know you can do it!

ETA: I am a 6-6.5 but bought a size 7 for my new shoes.

Quite an accomplishment, being preggo and all. Here's a funny story for ya.

Ok back in the day when IKEA first opened, I had graduated from college and was starting off in a new apartment. I picked out a bureau and a night stand. I took the tickets for them, paid and was told to drive around to pick them up. I was given 2 thin boxes.
6.gif
I said, no, you see I bought a bureau and a night table. They said lady, these are it!! You have to assemble them yourself!! I had no clue, felt sooo dumb, but got home and didn't have too much trouble. I was telling this story to Ashley, my daughter, she cracked up
3.gif

Hi!!!

Very interesting appt. today. Ultrasound was funny, she did an external first & thinks Delaney is HUGE. She measured her and estimates she is 6.5 lbs right NOW. Her belly is gigantic, her feet look like fat little porkchops, and her lips look like Goldie Hawn''s in First Wive''s Club after all the collagen. She has got some HUGE lips. I''m in love...DH was so happy to get to see her and see how chubby she looks already! Its a riot compared to Jake.

Fibroid: well, its still there and about 3cm. BUT...my doc came in and looked at the internal ultrasound & I was starting to get nervous because he was talking about it with the tech very seriously. So he asks me to leave my gown on & come into the exam room & he''ll do an internal to see if he can feel it. So, he does the internal, and he can feel it, but its soft.

So he says, that yes, its there, and its off to the right & can possibly block 30% or so of my birth canal, BUT...he wants me to try a vaginal delivery first. He thinks my chances of a successful delivery are good because its soft.

He said my worst case scenario is going through labor & having an emergency C-section, and since I am planning on having an epidural, it will be an easy transition in case we do encounter a problem during labor.

He felt confident, so I feel confident, and DH feels really confident. I was worrying a little about pushing a bigger baby out, until DH reminded me "yeah, like that big old Jake they said you''d deliver". Oh yeah--they said he''d be over 8lbs, he was 6lb 13oz. Anyway I''m not going to worry, she will be what she will be.

Tacori: Hey congratulations! That IS a milestone! I live to put stuff together. I drive DH nuts because I have to "control" all assembly operations in our house. Such a doofus! But yeah, certain things can be really tricky & I had to call Basset to figure out our crib drop rail, and then we bought a bar & computer desk from Pier One & their furniture by far is the stupidest to put together. I think aliens write the instructions. In Clingon perhaps.

T-gal.....where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu?

Kaleigh: aaahh Ikea & the allen wrenches. Gives me blisters just thinking about it. We just got our first IKEA here last month, but I''m sort of past that phase for furniture in my home, although I''m interested in some of the kitchen/storage/closest organziers for dh''s closet/kid table-chair sets etc. I want to go, just to go, I used to drive up to Seattle to shop there.

Ok, I''m tired & for some reason now, DH is pissing me off. Hormones I think. LOL.

Later!
