Question
I asked the ladies this on the bump but I trust you guys more
Lately I''ve been feeling as if someone is flicking the inside of my belly. It doesn''t happen often but does happen when I''m either hunched over (I have bad posture, especially when reading legal agreements
14.gif
) and mostly when I''m sitting.
I''m only 18 weeks so I''m not convinced its kicks but just wondering if maybe it is?? I figured the baby is small so if I could feel the kicks it wouldn''t be insanely huge kicks. But maybe its just gas or something??

Flicking -- that''s how I described mine too.
It''s definitely the baby. At 18 wks, they are small, but they can really kick up a storm.
I was able to feel her kick from the outside when I do what TGal call the Al Bundy move (hand above the crotch area).

Awww....everyone has such cute bellies
5.gif

and cdt, you are sooo tiny for 21wks.

for getting your home birth.
you are so close now....you''d be surprised by how fast you can actually progress.
i was long but soft when i had my first internal.
3 days later, my little girl came out.

Aaaah LILI don''t freak me out! LOL! I need another week or two! Please!

Haha, I thought that w/ your evil crotch pain, you''d be glad to have baby out already

Awe, Fiery, I''m positive you are feeling your lo! That is sooo exciting! I''m pretty sure I know who you are on the bump now, which is cool!

Natalia, I definitely felt some pressure/cramping off and on, and I had some sharp pain on my right side that ended up being from a cyst on my ovary (which my dr. assured me is totally normal and will probably dissolve on it''s own, but if it doesn''t, we can take care of after delivery). I bet you are just dying for the 17th to get here!

DD, I have to agree, Marc Antony is just, well, yuck to me too.

So me, I''m still ridiculously sick. I started crying last night because my nose is insanely stuffed up but bleeding at the same time, and I can''t get all of the gunk out, so it''s making me throw up, which is making my sore throat so much worse and I was just exhausted. Poor dh had no idea what to do as I was crying on the floor of the bathroom with blood dripping from my nose as I tried to stop throwing up, but he was a champ at getting me anything I asked for. I''m pretty sure it''s just a nasty cold since I don''t have a fever (that I can tell, it''s hard to take a temp. when you can''t breathe at all through the nose). Hopefully this will be like all my other colds and progress quickly from the head cold phase to the coughing phase because even though coughing can be exhausting too, at least I can function better. Plus, we can take Robitussin for a cough, whereas right now I''m not doing anything other than a nasal rinse, which is also making my throat burn and only gives relief for about a half hour.

Fiery, DD, and Sabine- Thanks fo rthe feedback on the weird cramping. Makes me feel much better!

Sabine- Sorry you are so sick. How miserable! I hope it passes soon!

Has SoCal Girl ever come back after her initial visit to the doctor post when they saw a sac but no embryo? Just thinking about her and hoping I missed a post that everything is okay...

Still thinking about Pandora too...

CDT - you are tiny, girl!

Fiery - That''s movement!!!
36.gif
I was kind of laying on top of DH when I first felt that and I was like "stop flicking my belly!" and he pointed out that since my belly was smack on top of his there was really no way for him to flick it. Uh, oops.

And the snoring reminds me of my parents. My dad would wake himself up sometimes with his snoring and then blame it on my mom. This finally happened when we were in a car and MY MOM WAS DRIVING and he STILL blamed it on her, and we all pointed out that it was kind of impossible for her to be snoring and driving safely at the same time.

And Mark Anthony? Really? Although I have a crush on Mr. Monk (from the tv show Monk) so I know that I have absolutely no room to talk.
9.gif

Lysser - I hope that the bleeding and all finally settles down soon.

Sabine - I''m sorry that you''re feeling so sick. Get better!

Pandora - still thinking of you.

Happy Saturday ladies!

natalina, I had cramping as well early on so try not to worry about it.

Sabine, I''m sorry you feel so bad! Get well soon! Also, loved your pic earlier this week - you look great!

fiery, that''s so cool that you''re feeling the baby now! enjoy it! And good luck with the video taping!

ll, I''m so sorry to hear that your pregnancy has been so stressful so far. I hope all goes well from here on out and you''re able to enjoy it a little. I love the names you''ve picked!

CDT, congrats on knowing you''re having a boy! That''s exciting. I love your pic - you look tiny!! I was so much bigger than you at 21 weeks. Once you pop, you''re going to be nothing but baby! I''m so jealous. Seriously, you look great! good luck deciding on a name - I like the ones you''re considering!

China, congrats on coming out at work. That was a huge deal for me too since I work in an industry that''s on the rocks now (like so many). I hope the news was received well! With respect to testing, I think you should follow your gut and do whatever it''s telling you. Given the good results from the NT, I''d say you needn''t do anything else but if more testing would give you peace of mind, you should do it.

Brooklyn, thanks for the updates on NYC! You''re wonderful person for keeping us informed and being her connection here. We really appreciate it!

NYC, I''m thinking of you! I''m sorry you''re having to be in the hospital now but I''m glad to know you and your sweet babies are being well cared for!

Courtney, you look wonderful in that pic! What a cute belly you have! Thanks for sharing. I hope you''re feeling well and that your back isn''t acting up any more. did you find any relief somehow?

Mela, your names are wonderfully unique! The one we''ve chosen is kinda "hippie" as well. I hope DH comes around to Rockwell!

DD, congrats on testing negative for GBS! I''m glad you''ll be able to have the baby at home!! Have fun gathering what you need for a home birth this weekend and enjoy your time sans baby because the little one will be here VERY soon!! yay!

Blen, it sounds like you''re very prepared for your home birth which is great!

Robbie, sorry you''ve been so crazy at work!

Saphire, I''m glad every thing''s okay with you but I''m sorry you didn''t get to have a u/s this week. The 17th will be here before you know it and it will be wonderful to see everything then!

Pandora, I was thinking of you on the 4th! How did it go?!? We miss you here.

everyone else, I hope your pregnancies are progressing well and that you''re feeling happy and healthy!

all''s well with me. Yesterday I had a dr''s apt as well as my first fetal monitoring and I toured two more daycare options. The dr''s apt was okay though they said the baby is still breech and my dr wanted to warn me that if she stays that way we may need to do a c-section... boo! She said that with polyhydramnios she has more room to spin around which means there''s more possibility of getting tangled up on the cord so they wouldn''t do a manual version to turn her form the outside... I know she has time to turn so I''m trying not to worry about it but I am going to do what I can to help her from here on out. I came home and did the pelvic tilt but I don''t think it helped. Did it again this morning.. hopefully she turns soon.

I''m measuring full term (38 cm) from all the fluid but then when I went in for the fetal monitoring later, they said the fluid was only 22 cm (down from 24) so who knows what''s really going on. The fetal monitoring went well. I had to register on the same floor as L&D and all the nurses were there behind the desk and I soooo wanted to fire 100 questions at them about how many natural births in hospital they''ve attended, etc... but I didn''t. The monitoring was fine - they just did a non stress test to check out the baby''s heartrate and see what my contractions are like. It was kinda cool to hear her heartbeat for so long. And she was doing fine so that''s good. Then they did a u/s to measure the fluid again. All in all it was painless and just time consuming - kinda silly considering that everything seems normal but better to know that than wonder, I guess.

the day care options I visited were okay. The second one was better than the first since I was able to chat with the care givers and they were very nice. All the kids seemed happy enough though I couldn''t help but feel sorry for them being away from their parents... I wish our country gave us more time off! I would gladly take a year off work with no pay to be with her if I could have my job back at the end.... oh well.

Anyway, I''m feeling like the baby will be here VERY soon - in some respects not soon enough, and in others, way TOO soon.... Seeing her in 4d on monday made it much more real. DH seems to feel the same way since he has been obsessed with that picture of her! He has manipulated it a million different ways on the computer to look stylized and abstract and different colors and continues to show them to me. They''re his "art show." too funny! When I asked him if he would be my valentine earlier this week he said the baby already asked him to be hers! what a goof! He really can''t wait for her to get here.

sorry to go on and on about me! hope you''re all well.

I''m back! Thanks for thinking of me natalina! Things have been crazy at work this week, and I have had the most awful cold this week, so even though I have been trying to keep up with what''s going on in the thread, I have had no time to post.

I went back to the doctor late this week, at about 7 weeks. They did another ultrasound, and it was amazing how much more they could see in only a week. The nurse said she could see the fetal pole, and the little flicker that was the heartbeat. She reassured me that everything was as it should be, and that made me feel a lot better. Since everything is looking good, my next appointment won''t be for another 4 weeks.

Sapphire - I had an u/s at 6 weeks, and it just made me more stressed out because they couldn''t see much. I know waiting until the 17th will be hard, but I think it will be worth it. They will be able to see so much more with 2 extra weeks of growth.

So, even though I am only 7 weeks (which means I have only technically been pregnant for 5 weeks) I have already gained 5 lbs. It is really freaking me out. I am already a bigger girl to begin with, and I gained 10 lbs after my wedding in June (although I had only lost those 10 lbs for the wedding), and all of my pants are starting to get tight already. I have been eating the same as I normally do, and I have been walking quite a bit. I just did a 5K last weekend! But apparently pregnancy has also caused me to have low thyroid, so I''m hoping that has something to do with the weight gain. I''m seeing an endocrinologist on Tuesday, so hopefully he can help out.

Hi all, thank you so much for all the kind thoughts!

Sorry to go missing, but I needed a few days to get my head straight again after Wednesday.

I think it was probably one of the worst afternoons of my life. I thought it would be bad before I got there - and it was truly horrible. Three solid hours with two five minute breaks and things got rather nasty at times. If nothing else I realised that we have gone beyond the point of no return at this stage - with any luck so have they.

The panel have said we will have the verdict by next Wednesday at the latest.

I don''t honestly know what the result will be - didn''t help that my legal team asked me to go in and lose without looking like I was trying to. I understand their reasons for wanting that, but it made it very hard to not go in all guns blazing. However, the other side said enough that I''ve got them on quite a few points - my lawyers wanted them to feel they had the upper hand and a case so that they wouldn''t be cagey.

Most of what they used as their defence was unbelievable and will no way stand up in court - but this panel is an internal Appeal Panel and so they also have ulterior motives.

We shall see... in the meantime, I am applying to the courts for the forms and a date for a public tribunal.

The worst thing is that the panel have said they may want to call another Appeal Hearing at which witnesses will be called. I honestly don''t think I could get through it a second time.

DH was there with me and my representative (you''re not allowed lawyers at this stage) did a great job - my brother was also on standby on the phone throughout in case I needed advice even though he was on holiday.

I''ve spent the last couple of days just feeling shattered and emotionally exhausted. Just slept most of the time. My shrink called me yesterday to see how I was and was very nice - I think they are going to up my meds next week and see if it lifts me a bit. My plasma levels will have dropped anyway due to the pregnancy and I''m on a low dose of Lamictal anyway so I''m happy to do that.

DH took me out to Windsor for the day today to do some mooching and a bit of shopping which has made me feel a lot better and cleared my head a bit.

Am going to go and read back a few pages now....

When you guys were first pregnant, did you have a lot of cramping? Ever since I was expecting AF, I''ve had light pre-period like cramps. I have not had any spotting or bleeding at all. Is this normal? Or could it be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy? It seems like it''s mostly on my right side.

I cramped on and off through my whole pregnancy. Totally normal...annoying though!

Hope everyone is feeling well!

Oh, Pandora, I''m sorry it was so hard for you. I don''t think I really have a grasp of what is going on even though I''ve read all your posts (it''s hard enough to understand the US legal system from what little contact I''ve had with it, let alone another country''s), but I''m hoping that you can get past this and not let it get to you!

SoCal, I just wanted to say specifically to you that I am hypothyroid since I''ve had my thyroid removed. I also had a decent amount of weight gain early on and am overweight to begin with, and it''s one of the things that I''ve been struggling with. The weight gain does seem to have slowed down a bit, but if you ever need to commiserate, I''m here! It sounds like you are doing everything you need to be doing (eating right, exercising) and I KNOW how frustrating it is to do that and still see yourself gain weight when you shouldn''t be, but there''s not much else you can do during the pregnancy.

Mrs, sorry to hear that your lo is still breach! I hope she turns for you!

Hi all...quick quick post as I can finally open my eyes w.o. Being in pain. It started yesterday when I got dizzy and vomitted and had agonizing pain like under my breast and all on the side. So I was taken for allll kinds of tests ...they moved me to a serparate room..bc they literally were monitoring me every second bc noone knew wat this was...pain was agonizing and unbearable...they think its a hernia..where part of the stomach moves into diaphram..but not sure if that''s what''s causing the pain. So I just had my 2nd ct- scan and waiting for results and may need mri. They treat my pain with morphine and all other kinds of meds and nothin really help this sharp pain. They want to rule out gallbladder/kidney stones. So we are waiting to see...babies are fine and kicking away...they tortring mama by movin all her organs around but having a ball kickin and waving to eachother in there.
Iwas and still am upset with having to do a ct scan and being on morphine but they say its safe..but im still upset about it. Anyway will hopefully feel better and post soon!..appreciate all your advice and support!

DD- veryyyyy excited for u!

This might seem stupid because you are in the hospital so I assume they have considered this, but your symptoms sound a LOT like pre-eclampsia...they did consider that right? Everything from the dizzyness, vomiting, and sharp pain under the ribs are potential symptoms I was told to look out for. But I assume they tested your urine for protein and your BP is ok since pre-e would probably be a first thought for a twin pregnancy.

Hope everything is ok. We are thinking of you!

NYC, I hope you feel better soon and that your babies stay baking for a lot longer.

Pandora, I''m sorry that everything''s been so traumatic for you. I hope everything can be resolved quickly.

Thanks ladies for your input! Now that I know what it feels like, I''m feeling it more throughout the day. Its a very cool feeling. lili-I''m going to have to try the Al Bundy move LOL

Sabine-Hope you feel better! Having a cold sucks all around especially while pregnant. Have you tried honey and lemon in some water?

Mrs-I hope she turns for you too!

So Cal Girl-Glad to hear you are feeling better. Yay for a flicker
36.gif

Pandora-Hope you feel better.

Nycbk-Glad to hear from you and that the twins are doing well! Check in when you can but make sure to relax!

Thanks ladies!

Neat- it isn''t preeclampsia bc vitals and literally everything is being checked on a regular basis..they did every blood test known to man to try to figure out what I have. So turns out....its bleeding from the adrenal glands!?..ugh I don''t know what to think..just did an mri and waiting for results...this may heal or may need surgery from what I understood...will update later.

Good to hear your update, girlie! Prayers to you and your kiddos!!

Pandora,

Thanks for the update. We were a bit worried. Hope all ends up well with the whole work situation. Aye. I''d say it''s gone on long enough and has definitely been enough stress on you!

NYC - thanks for the update. I''m thinking of you and hoping that everything goes ok with both you and the babes. It sounds like you''re in good hands.

Pandora - That sounds so incredibly stressful. I''m with Sabine in that I don''t 100% understand what''s going on but I really hope that everything turns out well. I hope that the extra meds help, too.

Mrs - turn baby, turn! I think the pelvic tilts are supposed to be done 10-15 min 3x per day, or something like that.
You just made me realize that we really should be researching daycares more. Since hubby is still unemployed and will be a SAHD/job searcher once the baby''s born IF he still doesn''t have a job, we''ve gotten really lackadaisical. But we really should know more about where we''d want the baby to be once he''s back at work.

OY! Talk about trauma for our friends NYC and Pandora. I seems that both of you are in the ''right hands'' and that you each have experts surrounding you.

Thinking of you both and hoping for a quick and easy resolution xox

NYC, I'm so so sorry you're in pain like that. Hopefully you won't have to deal with it much longer, but we also want the babes to bake a little longer. I would be worried about the morphine too, but I'm sure they know what you're doing and it's much better than having you in excruciating pain.

Pandora, I bet you wanted to rip them all new "you know whats". How frustrating!! I hope this doesn't drag on much longer.

As for my back pain, it's usually better on the weekends and worse while at work. It hurts a little right now, but I think that's because I just did my physical therapy stretches. I'm just taking it day by day. I haven't been able to stay at work for 8 hours straight so I'm not sure how this coming week will work out. My OB gave me a note in case I need to stay home all next week. It's nice to at least have that option. She wants me to see an orthopedist and pain specialist soon. I may need to get an x-ray to see what's causing this. It may not just be back pain due to pregnancy.

Hey Sabine,

I saw your request on The Bump, but I''m not a member so I thought I''d post what I found here. The set is pricey, but you can order things separately (minus the quilt, which I don''t think is often used?):

Good morning ladies!

I am sooo tired today and am
this close to faking a cold and going home
27.gif
. My boss is in his own world so hopefully today will be a reading day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Oh and since I’m feeling the baby more I decided to post an 18w belly pic. As you can see, the bump in the back is bigger than the one in the front. My own personal goal is to either have my belly bigger than my rear or at least the same size. I had to tighten up my maternity shirt because it’s a little big and makes my belly look much bigger than it really is. Side note: I’m not hiding my face for anonymity. I just needed to take the picture quickly LOL

I think I have finally reached the stage where my physical discomfort actually outweighs my nervousness at becoming a mother, and I am ready for the baby to be O-U-T!
9.gif
The pelvic pain has lowered even more to between my legs, and when it is bad (like last night) it makes me almost want to cry
39.gif
But then I get a good nights sleep like last night and this morning I have no pain at all! (knock wood). Very odd. My m/w said it all came from the position of the baby and I am believing her, otherwise why would it come and go?

I have also started having BH contrax pretty much constantly when I am not laying down. It is a very odd sensation, but I am taking it as a good thing since it suggests that birth is coming... although my friend said she had the BH contantly for 2 weeks and then went 9 days overdue before labour finally kicked in
6.gif
I find it hard to imagine continueing in this particular physical state for another three weeks, but who knows what will happen. I am very lucky that I can rest when I want and don''t need to work right now. I can''t imagine having to perform a normal job feeling like this.

Okay, this is a selfish post, but I am reading and keeping up with everyone, but just not able to muster the energy to respond individually! Sounds like everyone is doing well, even our suffering mommies are getting the help they need, so that is good news! I think of you all regularly and enjoy reading your stories!

Hi all, I may not be around for a little bit...

I just got the verdict through from the Appeal Panel - and all I can say is that they do a better brand of white-wash than even Farrow & Ball produce.

I hope my lawyers really are happy - my brother is certainly thrilled - as it has made me feel even worse to see everything discredited and thrown out on paper (even though I know in my head that the result was pre-determined before we even went in there). I guess I expected better of a political party.

I will now be taking my employer to court which is going to mean some major work over the next week or so getting the forms submitted. I only hope that by some miracle I can get an early court date - at the moment it is looking like it will coincide with my due date.

With any luck once things are set in motion I can hand over to the lawyers and have a few weeks before the baby is born where it is not the uppermost thought in my mind.

I''m confused by your post, Pandora. Your brother is happy that you have to take your employer to court?

Question for everyone: I went from an A cup to a C cup and they became really swollen and firm. In the last month or so, they''ve seemed to shrink down a little bit and are a lot softer like they were before the pregnancy. Is this normal? I thought they''d be big and firm throughout the entire pregnancy. Especially since I''m supposed to be producing collostrum by now right?

The chances were that we would always have to go to court - stupid me sometimes believes that there is good in people and that they might see things for what they are and resolve them before we had to go that far.

My lawyers felt that it is easier to go in all guns blazing if the result of the Appeal was to basically throw my case out. Even they didn't expect it to be quite as much of a whitewash as it has turned out to be.

If the result had been that I had a case and that I should instantly get my job back etc then it would be far harder to throw the book at them.

Sorry, the whole situation is pretty complex and confusing...

Nyckb - just want to wish you luck! Don't worry about the morphine - it's one of the safest analgesics you can use in pregnancy. I'm on the equivalent of 60mg of morphine a day every day and they're not very worried about it - don't even expect to have a lot of problems with the fact our daughter will be opiate dependant after birth. The most a bit of morphine in hospital for a few days will do is to make the babies a bit sleepy.

The endorphins that your own body makes are basically the same substance. Keep calm!

My (*)(*) did the same thing, don''t worry about it. Also, not every woman produces colostrom early on. I still don''t have any. I asked my m/w about this and whether producing colostrom in advance predicted anything at all about ability to BF and she said, NOPE, not related! So don''t worry, sounds like everything is fine!

Pandora I''m sorry honey.
