I hope all you ladies are feeling well today! I was wondering if anyone has has problems with pinching your Siatic (sp) nerve often in early pregnancy? I am only 9 weeks and the last 3 days have been a pin in the butt.. pun intended lol. Anyone else experience this? its always on the right side.

Sapphire- Yes, and mine is on the right side as well. It comes and goes. Before I was preggo I had a pretty bad pain there for a week and my trainer told me to get a massage which helped a great deal. You may need to wait until your second tri, but at least that will be an option. Hang in there!

Fiery- Both your bumps are too cute. You are a redhotfiery mama!!! You look great.

NYC- Thinking of you and hoping all is well.

Pandora- Sorry this has been so hard on you. I know emotionally this appeal thing was tough, but if your lawyers are happy, then try to focus on the positive- sounds like your employers gave your lawyers some room to hang them with. I know it''s hard, but try to not take it personally and let the lawyers fight it out. What''s done is done and you just focus on your health and your hubby and your gorgeous Daisy Pandora. Wishing you the best. Please take care of yourself.

Courtney- Sorry no help on the (*)(*) issue. Somehow mine have not grown at all! What is up with that, thought at least I''d get some cleavage action out of this. Hope your back gets better and soon.

Sabine- Hope you are feeling better.

DD- You are so close lady. And congrats on being close to accepting the job on the West Coast (saw your other thread). What a relief to know you can take till next January.

Nothing new for me. Pants are definitely tight now. Feeling a bit tired again, but nothing too bad.

HI to all the other mommas to be!

Ugh...still sick. I really really really hate being sick. I went in to school today, but already called off for tomorrow. I thought my stuffed nose was getting better yesterday, but today it is bad again. This wacky weather probably isn''t helping.

Ebree, oh dear. I think I''m in love with that bedding. It is DEFINITELY out of my pricerange, so if we end up having a girl, I am going to be in major trouble. Thank you for suggesting it though!

Courtney, I''m sorry you are in such pain! I hope they can figure out why soon and that it will be easy to fix!

Pandora, I hope you can get a sooner court date!

Fiery, great bump!

DD, soooo close! Have you started baking yet?

China, have you gotten a bella band yet? They are a definite help for tight pants!

Sapphire, sorry I can''t help with the sciatic pain, I''ve been a bit lucky in that regard.

NYC, still thinking of you!

(sorry if I missed anyone!)

Sapphire yup, normal!

Sabine stuffy noses are common in pregnancy, mine has been stuffy on and off for months! Maybe that is contributing? It has something to do with extra fluid volume.

And yes I am close but no baking yet! I have three manuscripts to resubmit to journals before baby comes... one is basically done and the second is needing small tweaks and the third will be finished this week. So no baby for me pretty please! Oh, and today I had no pain! woo hoo! Now... why is that? I wish I knew so I could make it happen every day!

Fiery,

I thought you said you were a *big girl.* Please!!! You''re looking wonderfully pregnant, sweetie!!

I love all the recently posted belly pics. So amazing how not only can our bodies to that transformation to make room for a baby, but also how very differently they carry the baby!!

Hey ladies!

Fiery - You look GREAT!!! You''re belly''s not big at all! And I hear ya and the back bump, I have one of those too
9.gif
Thanks for posting the pic!!!

Courtney - Can''t help on the boobs, my are still on the firm side. In fact they feel fake!

Dreamer - So close girl! I''m jealous
2.gif

Sabine - sorrry you''re so sick. Hopefully it goes away soon, but like dreamer said stuffy noses are so common. A good friend of mine couldn''t breath thru her nose her entire pregnancy and some months after..sorry!

I''m sorry if i''m missing anyone!

As for me, I''ve had TERRIBLY hip and lower back pain since Saturday. As well as round ligament pain. Today my hips are KILLING ME! Saturday I literally laid in bed all day because my hips and back were so achy
39.gif
. I''m working out at 4 days a week and taking a yoga class once a week, does anyone know if this is making it worse for me? Should I stop all the cardio? I''m just so uncomfortable and I hope it''s not like this for the rest of my pregnancy
7.gif

How should I count my weight gain? From my date of last period or from first doctor''s visit around 8 weeks?

The reason I ask is because I was about 5 lbs less than I usually am because the date of my last period was the day before my wedding! How would you count it?

Courtney - I''m the same, I was up 4 lbs at 8 weeks because I had lost weight for our wedding. The dr isn''t taking those 4 lbs into consideration, but I am. I just add the 4 to whatever they said I''ve gained. I had asked my dr about the quick weight gain and she said that because my body was used to be at a certain weight, it quickly went back there once preggo. My body is just more comfortable w/ those extra 4 lbs (at the time...what I wouldn''t give to weight that right now!!). I was freaked at gaining those 4 lbs so quickly. She said not to worry, so I try not too. Isn''t working though
9.gif
I was up 16 lbs at 20 weeks, per the dr''s office, but I say 20 because I hope to go back to that weight after preggo and want to keep track of how much I really will need to lose.

If I count my pre-wedding weight, then I''m up about 28 lbs at 29 weeks!

Pandora- I''m so sorry you have to be going through this now, of all times. *Hugs*

NYC- Glad to hear you and babies are okay. Keep us posted!

Sabine- love that crib bedding Ebree posted for you! Are you guys finding out if it''s a boy/girl? Hope you are feeling better today.

Fiery- you look great! How exciting to be feeling the baby!!!!

Dreamer- good luck finishing up your work this week! I am so excited for you!

cdt- sorry to hear about the hip & back pain. No tips here, just hoping it feels better soon...

Is there a list of screening tests, time at which in pregnancy they are given, and what they test for? I just got back from my first appointment, and I''m confused. I have heard all of you discuss "NT", "CVS", and amnios, along with maybe some others...I received paperwork from the doc about the Triple test, Quad test, First Screen, and Integrated Screen. Today''s appt was with a nurse, I don''t see the doc for a couple weeks, but I asked the nurse about CVS or amnio and she didn''t really have much to say about them, other than that they are elective you really need to think about what you would do pending results that are not what you were hoping, and that they are "very invasive and potential harmful to the baby". Ummm...okay...I guess I just felt a bit discouraged from doing any of these tests. I was hoping to receive a description of each test, when it is done, and what it tests for, as well as accuracy- without bias. Instead I felt like maybe she looked down on couples that maybe wouldn''t continue a pregnancy if they didn''t get the results they wanted? Not that I ever said we felt that way, but it was just kind of uncomfortable.
Can anyone help me figure this stuff out? And did anyone else experience anything like this?

Good Morning Ladies
35.gif

Thanks everyone for the comments. Fisher-You made me LOL. Its the angle of the photo
2.gif

CDT-If it were me I would cut back on the cardio to maybe twice a week for two weeks just to see if the pain goes away. Have you tried taking some tylenol? Tylenol does nothing for my headaches but it helps with muscle aches.

Courtney-I do everything according to what the doctor would respond to. So for me, I count my weight gain from my first weigh-in which was around 7 weeks.

Natalina-That''s a good question on the list and I''m sure there is one available. I''ll look on google for you. Don''t pay any mind to the nurse''s opinion. Everyone has different views. My doctor and nurse were disappointed that we didn''t get the NT scan done and they both kept pushing for it.

Hi ladies, thanks for thinking of me all the time.. Im stil home...feeling a lil better...the only thing that bothers me is the pressure in the chest when I take deep breaths or turn on my sides..any idea what that can be from? They''ve done all bloodwork all scans and I still have this pain. Doc called me in morn and asked I come back soon to take bloodwork and more scans..she''s worried about the adrenal gland and being anemic?? So I will come in on fri...but I still don''t want to be back in hospital. Its such a hard decision to make..I mean for babies is it better to be there? But for me its not...noone can take care of me better than my family...they made me feel much better with a strict diet and their own variations of enimas (sorry tmi)...instead of being drugged and not eating or drinking and being uncomfortable. Duno what to so. Stupid cervix!....I came for me reg u/s on wed and was totally fine then I was admitted and next day im a wreck! Could it be a reaction to the steroid shot??
Also today I feel like the top left side of my belly gets tight and it weird..could that be a contraction and if so should I worry?
Pandora- thanks for the morphine info..I was real scared but they told me it was ok and I believe them...I was worried about ct scan but she said not enough radiation in that to cause damage. Mri''s have no radiaton and are safe and they really got some cute clear baby pics from mri.

Sorry I can''t do personals but I can barely stand to do anything but lay .but love u guys and thanks for all ur support. Im hangin in there!

I am glad you are not in imminent distress and that babies seem fine! I also think you should talk to your doctors to answer all these questions, only they can give you the straight goods. How was your cervix looking? Was it staying put? Seems like this pain issue may be separate from the pregnancy in the sense that it is not a direct issue with being preggo, but perhaps was exacerbated by being pregnant? Anyways, get in touch with your doctors and keep us posted!

Courtney, I count my starting weight as it was at my LMP. I don''t even want to think about how much I''ve gained if I count from my wedding weight! In my defense though I got married almost a year before we conceived, so about half of that isn''t baby related.

NYC, glad to hear that you''re out of the hospital! I hope you get to stay at home instead of going back. I hope whatever''s wrong turns out to be really easy to fix and that you''re out of pain soon.

Fiery, you look so cute! I think I remember seeing something about you booking a babymoon? Congrats! That''ll be so much fun!

I''m sorry to everyone that I missed. I''m having a really hard time keeping up lately. I try to skim through the thread when I have a chance, but then I mix up what happened to who and forget some things all together (have I mentioned on here yet that my baby is a zombie and is eating my brain?) and can''t remember what I wanted to say when I have time to actually sit down and write. Work is still really busy and I feel like I have so little free time now with bradley method classes (just started on Sunday!) and my photography class. It''s really only an extra 5 hrs of stuff a week (well, plus travel to and from), but I feel like it''s a lot. There was something wrong with the unit that controls the airflow in my office (just mine, no one else''s for some reason) today and the air was making me dizzy and nauseous. They tried to tell me the air was fine, but the other office preggo could smell it too when she came into my office. I felt kind of yucky for a little while, but I got to leave and work from home since they couldn''t get the repair guy there until a half hour before I was leaving for the day. A walk around the neighborhood with DH (in the rain) made me feel a lot better and it was nice to be able to work from my bed since it takes the pressure off of my tailbone. Speaking of body parts, my boobs are spilling out of my bra again. The bra that I just bought 2 weeks ago. I just bought a bigger one on ebay and if it fits I''ll officially be a 32H
23.gif
. My mom told me yesterday that her boobs never went back down after she had me.
32.gif
Luckily I seem to take after my dad when it comes to body type and how I gain weight, so hopefully they''ll go down at least a little bit. Bras this big are expensive! Not to mention that it''s pretty much impossible to find a button down shirt for work that fits over these puppies. I''m still not feeling anything regular when it comes to movement and when I do feel something, it''s usually the baby changing positions, not kicks. I''m getting impatient. I can''t believe that in half a week I''ll be halfway done with this pregnancy. It''s going by so fast! DH and I are going to register this weekend and we''re going armed with his sister who most recently had a baby and Baby Bargains. I''m totally overwhelmed just thinking about it.

19w3d

I just saw my midwife, and baby growth looks right on track! She''s wanting to monitor it more closely because of the placenta issues. And baby is head down, as I thought.
9.gif

I''m now wondering if it''s a boy. Our m/w asked us if we were still thinking of Theodore (one of her sons'' name and possibly my favorite boys name, but we ultimately decided that it sounds too silly with our last name) and I told her that we think we''re going with George. A little while later she asked us if we had gotten any glimpse of any boy/girl parts - nope - and I asked her if she had (she was with us for one of the hospital u/s) and she said yes, but that she doesn''t have enough u/s experience to say with certainty what it was. And then she decided to ask us about our girls name, maybe to throw us off because she had only asked about the boys earlier? But maybe I''m overthinking things. I mean, Theodore is her son''s name. Hmmm.

My coworker brought in pictures of her newborn grandsons to work, and I just felt like "there''s one of those in my belly? Really?" The baby just feels like a collection of parts and hard spots that poke into me, or something. I''m having a hard time right now imagining an actual baby in there. I talked with a coworker this afternoon who said that she still felt that sort of disconnect right after her son was born - like "That baby just came out of me? How''d that happen? It fit through there?" - and it made me feel a little more normal.

NYC - sometimes when the baby stretches out or changes positions, I''ll feel a hard area on my belly where it''s getting stretched or where a larger body part is pressing into me. Contractions are over-all tightness. You should probably talk to your doctor about when you''d need to call them for contractions - you may have a lower threshold than I do because your cervix has shown changes. And your doctor would also be the best bet about all of the other stuff. I''m glad to hear that you''re at home, at least for the time being. Hang in there honey!

Robbie- wow! Confession: I actually gave up on bras for the months of December and January because I was tired of buying new ones with the growth, and just lived in tank tops with built in ones. I''m now alternating between those and sleep bras, which are built to be stretchier and less size sensitive. But I also started out much smaller, so the support isn''t as necessary. And I think that my belly distracts the eye from any saggage.
5.gif

Registering should be fun - just remember that you don''t need to put everything on there at once and that you can take breaks if you need to. And the gliders are really comfy to hang out in if you need to chill for a bit!

Fiery- I''m not sure what you''re talking about! Your belly looks so cute.

Pandora - good luck. I''ll be thinking of you.

Sabine/Ebree - LOVE that bedding.

31w5d <----
6.gif

Robbie, that's the thing! My LMP was the day before my wedding when I was down an extra 5 lbs!

Wow, you've got some cans, girl! I feel like mine have shrunk back down to around a B cup. My butt is a Z cup now, so that's where my weight goes.
9.gif

NYC, I'm so glad you're in the comfort of your own home. That's got to make such a difference. Hang in there!

NYC-It''s good to hear from you. Hang in there and make sure to just take it easy and relax.

Robbie-Almost at the 20w mark already?? Wow. Time flies. And 32H
23.gif
. I have no idea how big my boobs are right now. I started at 36C and now am into Ds and the bras seem to still fit. I''m kind of worried a little though because they never got sore or turned darker as I have heard other women say. They''ve gotten bigger but not as much as I would have expected. As for kicks, you have an anterior placenta though right? So you''ll probably feel the kicks later.

Courtney-I would just count from where you feel is a fair representation. I count as I mentioned from my first doctor''s appointment because we weren''t trying. And since we weren''t trying, I think the last time I had weighed myself was maybe a month or so before my LMP.

As for me, nothing exciting going on. I am still feeling little flicks that I''m assuming is the baby kicking. I told FI that the kicks are so pathetic because its so tiny and probably 15 minutes after saying that, I felt a really big one. It wasn''t so big that you can feel it outside of the belly or that it hurt but it was almost as if the baby was trying to show off (or tell me to shut up
2.gif
). I feel them maybe once or twice throughout the day and sometimes in the morning. My mom is convinced that I will have a lazy child
20.gif

Hope everyone has a great day!

NYC - glad you''re home! Hang in there!

Robbie - Sorry to hear about the boobs! I''d look into what Blen did, that way you don''t spend so much on new bras!

Courntey - You crack me up! If your butt is a ''Z'' then I have NO idea what mine is
9.gif
You look great and you''re butt is sooooooooo not big!

Fiery - I wouldn''t worry about the boobs not hurting. Mine were only slightly tender until about a week ago for me. Last week my freakin nipples hurt sooooooooooooo bad, but this week it''s not as bad, so I don''t know. But I have no where near the pain my friends describe. I''ve also only gone up 1 size so far (B to a C). And no darkening going on either like my friends mentioned. So I guess everyone is different
3.gif

21w6d!!

Do you guys think it''s too much to have 50 people on my shower guest list? I felt horrible sending the list to my friends who are hosting the shower. I''ve offered to help financially with the shower and I''m also making up a little white lie and telling them that my mom and DH''s mom want to chip in extra money. When in fact it will be my money, but I just want to chip in!!

Courtney- I am wondering this as well. I don''t think 50 sounds like too many, but I have no idea the etiquette here. Anyone?

Robbie- Ouch, sorry about your ever growing (*)(*). Hope they slow down for you!!! I have the total opposite problem- mine haven''t grown at all!!!!!! It''s always something in pregnancy.

Blen- Do you have any feelings either way whether it''s a boy or a girl?

I have been having some pressure really low the past day or so. I can''t decide if it feels like actual cramping or if it''s more like gas pains. Regardless- I am assuming this is normal, maybe uterus growing or something. It''s not painful. Every book I read says call the doctor if you are cramping, so I am trying to figure out if that''s what this is. I am 14w4d. Just wondering if this is normal or what does cramping that I should be worried about feel like? Thanks in advance!

NYC, glad you are home but sorry you still have so many questions. Do you feel the doctors tried to explain everything to you as best as they could? If not, I would definitely be asking them more questions. I hope the pain goes away soon!

Courtney, I would probably count your weight from what you think you normally were. If that is 5 lbs higher than your wedding weight, just add those 5 lbs. And although 50 is a lot for a shower, if you''re only having one and that''s how many you have, that''s how many you have. I think it''s nice that you are kicking in money though.

Blen, it''s so exciting how close you are getting and so fun that you still don''t really know what you are having!

I don''t really have anything exciting going on. My cold is better, although I''m still feeling run down, but at least my stuffed up nose has gone back to "regular pregnant stuffed nose" instead of being so stuffed that I was literally gagging/throwing up because of it!

Tomorrow is my next appt., and I''m really happy because for some reason, I''m getting paranoid that they won''t be able to find the heartbeat or something. I know I''m just being silly, but it''s hard to go so long without knowing everything is okay. I really can''t wait to start to be able to feeling kicks!

15 weeks today!

Court, I do think that is a lot of people for a shower...any way to break it into 2?

Yikes...I''m actually having 2 showers, but the 2nd is simply a small shower with my dad''s side of the family.

This one being hosted by my friends will include all our friends, my mom''s side, and DH''s side. I did forget to mention that I already know of 10 out of the 50 who won''t be able to make it. I''m sure more won''t either. So I''m imagining 35-40 will attend. I''ve been to small showers and I''ve been to showers with around 50 women. I feel that since I''m kicking in money and help that it shouldn''t be a problem. I also asked my GF ahead of time if she''d like me to put a certain cap on the number and she said no.

Courtney-

Is it hosted by more than one person? I think if it''s a friends one, and the "hosting" duties are being spread out AND you are contributing financially, you are probably fine. I have been to a few that big. Maybe just call your friend back and run the number by her? I am going to have the same problem- I am only having one in my hometown and so I have to include family and friends.

Courntey - We have 50 on our guest list. It doesn''t mean all will come. I have a big family, so there''s no way to cut it down and doing 2 is not an option, my mom is throwing my shower and wants to do 1. I say, go for it!

Courtney-It depends, at least for me, on what type of baby shower you are having. On my dad's side, baby showers used to be 100+ guests. But we never played games or opened gifts in front of anyone. They would rent a hall and everyone would party. I think that if you are expecting to open gifts in front of everyone or play any games, then 50 may be too much. But if its a true party, then it should be fine.

Question

This may be TMI but I woke up this morning to a twitching/pulling feeling in my upper vag area(<--that's the TMI part). It lasted for about 2 minutes before going away completely. I called my nurse and she doesn't seem concerned about it at all. I'm just wondering if any of you experienced this as well or can explain what it may be. I love my nurse but she didn't really explain anything to me. She just said that since this is my first baby I'll feel a lot of things going on with my body much more than say 2nd time moms would and that its "normal." Just wanted your opinions...

Oh and my friend had her baby four nights ago at 38 weeks
36.gif
. He's the cutest little thing. She said that after her water broke, the baby's hb dropped significantly so they had to do a c-section (I'm sure there's more to this story but she was tired and I didn't want to probe). She was disappointed but happy he's healthy and doing well. She told me a few non-sleeping and poop stories which of course I responded with "awww." I love my friend. She has always been so anti-children. She never found them cute at all and throughout her entire pregnancy, she never sounded like she connected with the baby. She's an anesthesiologist and spent a lot of time before finishing school working as an OB nurse so she's very technical. To hear the way she speaks about him now with so much love is exhilirating. At the end of the call she said "Melissa, I didn't know it was going to feel this way. What was I thinking to ever doubt having children"
30.gif
36.gif

Fiery, that is so sweet. Your friend knows what it''s like to have unconditional love for her little one!

Blen, isn''t it fun to speculate about what baby will be? Everyone seems to be surprised that I want to analyze what different things could mean about baby''s sex since I want to be surprised. I figure it doesn''t actually change the surprise at all since I still won''t know for sure. Heck, even that little peenie that I think I see on the u/s could be something else.

Courtney, I feel like my butt is just getting wider to match the spare tire I''ve grown around my hips, lol. I wouldn''t mind having a J Lo booty for a little while. 50 sounds like a lot for a shower, but I think my list is over 40 and I keep thinking of others I need to add so I understand. Mine''s mostly DH''s family. I just based it off of the list that MIL gave me for my bridal shower. I don''t even know most of the people from his dad''s side, but I think they''d be insulted if they weren''t invited. I definitely think it would be better to do the kind of shower where you don''t play games and open presents in front of everyone with that many people.

Fiery, you''re not far behind, you''ve got to be almost to 20 weeks too! One of my good friends didn''t really have any growth until her milk came in. Then she went from a C to a DD overnight. Owie! I haven''t had the twitching/pulling feeling in the vag, but it sounds like it could be normal growth or even baby dancing on your cervix. I can''t wait to have that "wow, I can''t believe I was worried about this!" feeling after the baby is born!

CDT, I wish I could walk around in a sports bra or tank top instead of a bra, but it is not a pretty sight since I really don''t get support from either. My biggest issue is that my band size is a 32 so things like sports bras and shirts with built in bras that generally come in sizes like S, M and L are way too big around my rib cage if they fit over my boobs.

China, I''d send you some of mine if I could
1.gif
.

Today is the 3rd day in a row that I''m "working" from home. Ok, the first 2 days I really did get work done, but I''m being a slacker today. On Tuesday there was an issue with the ventilation system for my office and it was making me sick so I left about halfway through the day. Yesterday DH had the stomach flu so I stayed home to take care of him and make sure he didn''t pass out or get dehydrated. Today I went in to work and everyone is standing in the lobby because we have no power. Apparently the crazy wind we''ve been having blew a transformer and the power had been out since 3 am. So, I went back home and I''m now "working" in my jammies with my bra unhooked (aaaaaaaaaah). Yesterday I felt movement from the outside! I felt 2 hardish kicks (not hard enough that I was sure that''s what they were though) and put my hand where it happened and baby kicked again! I ran over and woke up my poor sicky hubs, but by that point baby was back to sleeping/being lazy and he didn''t feel anything. I think I''ll have him keep his hand on my tummy for a few hours tonight to see if he can. DH is feeling much better today. Due mostly (in my opinion at least) to me waking him up every few hours to drink water and making sure that he ate some soup as soon as he could keep things down. He was convinced that he had salmonella and wanted me to call the Dr. until I told him that 1. He didn''t have a fever so it probably wasn''t salmonella and 2. Even if it was salmonella, they don''t do anything unless the vomiting and diarrhea are so bad that you''re unable to stay hydrated. I have a feeling he''ll be calling the pediatrician more often than I will.

I called my nurse and she doesn''t seem concerned about it at all. I''m just wondering if any of you experienced this as well or can explain what it may be. I love my nurse but she didn''t really explain anything to me. She just said that since this is my first baby I''ll feel a lot of things going on with my body much more than say 2nd time moms would and that its ''normal.'' Just wanted your opinions...
Yup, normal. It is the round ligaments. They actually connect to the whole genital area. I had it a lot in trimester 1. Felt like little electric shocks going down into the crotch and by the cervix in particular.
