Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Hi guys! Sorry I can''t respond to everyone..I''m at the office in Pheonix and people keep stopping by my desk!
14.gif

I have read all the messages and all I can say is THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are all so sweet and I appreciate all the good wishes and advice!. For all the twin moms and expecting (NYC!) THANK YOU!!! and I will be coming to you guys for advice for sure!!!!!!. Are there any books you recommend I get that are specific for twins?

I am scared, I''m very scared...but I have to keep positive and think it will be ok and I will get through it!. This is just crazy...I really didn''t expect to get pregnant the first month of trying...so I''m still getting over that shock and all. Then this. I swear, I always say I love surprises but always say I never "get any"....well, I have now been blessed with so many surprises!!. It''s just crazy!.

I''m in a crazy state right now...emotional, happy, anxious, scared....I really wish I was home right now because DH and I just both have so much to say/share!. Not anything in particular, but I guess we need to sit together and say 1,000 times "can you believe this?". He is starting to come around (poor guy was in a complete state of shock when I felt). He has sent me a few links for good articles and it''s asking me to make sure I sleep and eat protein at every meal!. Very cute

Thank you guys so so soooo much...I am so lucky to have found PS

*****

Just two quick shout outs:

Natalina - I will feel the same way as you!!!!!. Can you go to another Doctor?...

NYC - I am so sorry you are in pain
39.gif
...I wish there was something we could do for you!!!.

Natalia, it''s pretty normal to not have an u/s until 20 weeks (unless you are choosing to do the nt scan, then you get one as part of that). I think you should be fine seeing the nurse at this point, and even if the dr. was there, they probably wouldn''t have done an u/s or tried to find the hb yet. However, if you do go, I would make sure you tell them you want to schedule the nt scan if you are doing it. That way you can have advance notice for your dh for the more exciting appt.

Oh, just wnated to add on the membrane discussion that the Dr didn''t say anything was for sure. He said it could be a good sign, but more tests would need to be done and more ultrasounds. He did say even with everything sometimes you don''t know until they are born and genetics tests are done.

So you guys were all correct! I guess the only part I wrote was that he said it was a good sign because that''s probably all my heart registered
9.gif

Just stopping by to say Congratulations on Twins Mandarine!!! I am a twin myself, so I cannot comment on the experiences of a twin pregnancy (but you definitely have some very experienced and wonderful ladies here for that, Neatfreak for one!
2.gif
) But I can definitely say that being a twin is the most amazing experience and I wouldn''t trade it for anything!

Quick drive by. So tired today so I''m home resting.

Blenner. "If you build it, they will come". With that logic, I think Virginia Juliet is lovely; as is our future offsprings torrid love affair
31.gif
.
Love story aside, I am quite fond of Virginia Theodora. I think it has a nice melodic quality; where as Virginia Juliet is a little ''Juh-juh juh-juh" and not as feminine - To me! OB do what your heart tells you is right.
I''m still a fan of Augusta....
27.gif

and as much as I like Charlotte, I know a lot of baby Charlotte''s so I''m a bit ''over it''.

My 2 cents which is probably only worth one cent based on my name list.
11.gif

**

Natalina - regardless of any ''normal'' times for scans, I woulda been pissed too, and I think all of us agree that piece of mind goes a long way. Can you get a scan somewhere else? If its covered, why the hell not?

**
NYC - poor you!!! So sorry for your pains!

**

Love to y''all. Going for a nap.

PS. Fiery - dont worry about being a bit ''off'' and crabby. we all have our days

Hi, I'm back from Puerto Rico. Feels like I've missed a lot!

Fiery- Just had to comment on your belly pic from last Friday- you look awesome and how nice to see your pretty face! You are a hot mama.

Mandarine- TWINS??????? Are you kidding me? That is crazy! Guess we are due, seems like there was a whole bunch for awhile, now you can carry on the torch. Congrats!!!

NYC- Oh honey, I'm so sorry. At least take comfort in that others (NF, DD) seemed to have gone through it as well and not only made it through, but it went away. You've had a tough time of it. You're almost there!!!! Any name choices for you?

Natalina- I would be upset as well. It's so hard in those first few weeks and I was so worried, even AFTER I saw the heartbeat and had an early u/s. I know that it's not necessary, and a lot of places don't do them so it is normal. However, my doctor and nurse seem to pretty much do whatever they can to help me out or ease my nerves, and it's such a relief. I would go see the nurse today, explain how you are feeling and see how they react. If you aren't feeling like you are getting support, I would maybe ask friends for other recommendations. Especially since you get unlimited u/s, you lucky girl! BUT don't worry, you are preggo!!!!

Sabine- How are you feeling about your BOY?????

I know I"m missing a ton of you, it's hard to catch everyone after being away for 5 days or so.

I do have a bit of news myself, and a question about bedding, so I'll be back in a bit!

ETA: Blen- I still like Augusta in there somewhere!!!! I like all of your name choices. But I do think Virginia Juliet is pretty, and I love Theodora, not sure about Virginia Theodora- the similar endings throw me off when I read them, but it sounds lovely when I say it out loud. I like Charlotte, but not with Virginia for the reasons Ebree mentioned. Would you call her "Virginia"?? What are your boy names again???

MANDARINE Don''t worry, I felt exactly like you did when I found out. It was our first month of trying too. There are books I liked, and at least one I have that I would love to send to you because I don''t need it anymore. Does anyone here have your contact info that we might be able to figure out a way to get it to me?

DH said I just kept saying "holy sh*t holy sh*t" in the US room when we found out so it''s totally normal to be scared. It''s a wild ride for sure, but worth it in the end!
30.gif

Yay Neat!! I was going to ask you for a new picture of the boys. I love them! They are just too cute.

Tee hee hee. Neat - you''re boys are amazing!!! They bring a big smile to my face
1.gif

nycgirl, you are doing such a beautiful job of hanging in there for your babies! I really, really hope the doctor can give you some relief. Your pain sounds just terrible.
39.gif

natalina, what did you decide to do? I think I would feel the same way. My sister has always had ultrasounds at 6-8 weeks but then another friend had to wait until 12. So when my doctor said 8-10 weeks for the first U/S I was pretty excited. If I had to delay it until 20, I''d be bummed. I thought my friend who had to wait until 12 got the short end of the stick. And weren''t you under the impression that this appointment was to get an U/S?

I just had my prenatal orientation and I would like to personally thank the inventor of Zofran. I dissolved my first pill about an hour ago and I feel so much better. Not like pre-pregnancy me, but on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being no nausea, and 10 being so nauseated I might as well be a bucket of vomit, I''ve gone from around 8 to around 3. Yay!

I was also really impressed with my new ob/gyn practice. My GP really stinks -- I always have to wait at least an hour, even when my appointment is first thing in the morning so you wouldn''t think they could get backed up. Today there were several helpful receptionists and nobody waiting, and every step was bam, bam, bam, out the door. I got a nice bag and umbrella and water bottle in addition to a book about pregnancy. They did a blood and urine test, and the lab technicians humored my request to test my urine for pregnancy. They were really nice about it and said, "Oh boy, look at that line, yup you''re pregnant!" So all in all today has been a good day. This is a huge relief because last week I''d say my nausea was around 4 to 6 on my scale, but the last three days it''s been 7 to 9 consistently. I was about to lose it.

Oh Neat!!! They are SO PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much...it sounds like you were in the same shock we were in...and DH was acting the same exact way!. It''s just so much to take in!!.

I''d absolutely love to get any books you have!! I can returns them when I''m done or buy them from you?. I am not sure how I can get my info to you so we could coordinate....would it be ok for me to post an email address that didn''t have my real info on it?. I don''t remember what the rules are....or I could email the Admin and see if they can give you my email?

You''re so sweet!

Anyway, I really appretiated reading that our reaction was normal! so thank you so much!!

Yay for the Zofran. Although I didn''t find the meds made me feel like I normally did, they made life bearable - I could walk into a shop that had food and got some sleep rather than spending half the night in the bathroom!

Hope you feel a whole lot better from now on!

missjae my crib and changing table are from the Creation''s "Summer''s Evening Collection" in black. USA Baby had the best deal on it, but they''re sold at shops across the country as well as online.

Aww thanks, we think they are pretty great! And don't be silly about the books! I would just send them to you gratis, I don't need them anymore. Just promise me you'll pass them along when you are done with them, a pay it forward arrangement.
1.gif

And yes, totally totally normal.

Let's see...if you search for my babies first names (Maxwell and Dexter) on the forbidden to be mentioned social networking website that is very popular on college campuses you can find me I think. Not sure I can even say that but we will give it a go!

Quick driveby-

NYC, so sorry that you''re feeling miserable. I''ve been thinking of you.

Fiery - I have my days when I feel exactly like that. I can be such a pain.

Neat - I can''t get enough pics of your boys.
30.gif

Meh-la and China, I''m in love with Augusta, but lets just say that I don''t want her initials to be another slang word for hoo-ha. That just seems cruel.
15.gif
(If you get what I''m saying and think I''m being overly sensitive about initials, please tell me! My mom and MIL see nothing wrong with those initials, but they''re also a different generation so I don''t trust them.)

Ebree - I always love hearing your opinion, really!

Pandora - thanks, but DH keeps nixing Theodora as a first. He''s so picky!!

I''m so conflicted on the purpose of the middle name. Do I want something that just sounds pretty? I love the flow of Virginia Louise. Or do I want something that honors a family member? I mean, how important is flow when you don''t usually say the entire name? Hubby vetoes all of the family names that flow relatively well. Garrr.

We''d call her Virginia, nickname Ginny. Boys name is George Everett.

Middie just left a few minutes ago. She called the baby "she" about twenty times and "he" about twice, with a few "it"s sprinkled in, and of course afterwards hubby was like "She called the baby ''he'' twice. It''s a boy."
20.gif
Measuring a little bit ahead, but a little less ahead than I''ve been, baby has dropped a little bit but I have a ways to go. Middie''s not predicting a terribly big baby at least.

Sorry to everyone I missed. It''s late, we haven''t eaten dinner yet, and I have to get up way before dawn tomorrow so that I can be somewhere 2 hours away by 8 am.
39.gif
(Natalina, for some reason I feel like I might be visiting somewhere near you? Are you anywhere near GR? Or I may just be imagining things.)

OH YEAH - Dh got a job offer! He''s supposed to hear from HR tomorrow with specific details regarding things like compensation. But he''d be able to work from home, and if the pay''s good enough I could take 12 weeks off instead of 6, and we could both be at home until the baby''s 3 months old with me doing the child care during the day of course. The only potential problem right now is that he''d be supposed to travel out of town in early April, and then again every 2-3 months, but the guy said that they could be flexible about the early April travel given the circs and the rest really isn''t a big deal. AND the company''s based in DC (where our family is), which could open the door for relocation later on. So please keep your fingers crossed that it all works out, pretty pretty please!

Thanks everyone for the support and thoughts!

Blen- congrats for dh! Sounds wonderful!! Yay

?....my tummy is hard like all the time..except when im layin on sides....esp on one side...should I worry...bc even with bh they say if too often to come in????

HOLY DOG POOP - MayJah Crossies for your DH and the job. Crossing fingers, toes and hairs. That would be SO amazing. wow.
31.gif
30.gif

Also, wait till you meet him/her/it and then go with the middle name that strikes you deep down.
5.gif

neat, could your boys BE any cuter? I have this urge to smell their adorable baby heads. Sorry if that came across as creepy, but it's true.

It all depends. My kiddo will be getting a family name for his middle, as will our next child, boy or girl (or boy and girl!), but these names all mean a lot to both me and the people I'm using them for (Dad, Grandmother, In-Laws). Some people do their own thing and pick a middle name more for flow, which is also fine. If you love and want to use Theodora, you should- Virginia Theodora ______ (depending on your last name) sounds lovely- it really does. It works because other than the last syllable, the two names sound nothing alike. Now, John Sean _____ would be a different story!
9.gif

Oh, and good luck with the new job! It sounds like a great situation!

Blen, big congrats on the job! My DH is trying to get a job too, and I hope that works out sooner rather than later!

********************************
Unfortunately I had to spill the beans on my pregnancy to my lab professors because I would like to wear a respirator in those classes, just to avoid breathing in any chemicals. The one they're giving me is awesome, it's like the one they use in the army for nerve gas! I would probably be okay without it, but I just wanted to be on the safe side.

It kinda sucked having to tell them though even before telling my parents because of course they didn't say congratulations. They are just referring to my pregnancy as "your situation." They probably think that it was an accident, ha! Anyway, because I have to wear this big 'ol mask that prevents me from talking, it's going to be really weird in my classes. I feel like I have to say something to the other students, especially my lab partners, but I don't want to tell anyone else that I'm pregnant! Especially not this early and with my history. I'm not sure if there's any other explanation that I will be able to give though. I guess that I could be really vague and say "health issue." I guess it won't be that bad since I won't ever see any of these people again after my last lab, which is April 17th.

Mandarine-It''s great that your DH is being so proactive with his research. That''s going to be so good for you in the upcoming months.

China-Thanks! Are we going to see some PR pics?
31.gif

Phoenix-I''m glad you were able to find a remedy to the nausea. Did they tell you when you are getting the results from your blood test? That was a very exciting day for me. Having a DR confirm that I am pregnant made it all sink in despite the 7 HPT I took LOL.

Blen-I have felt the same way about middle names. I don''t have one and neither do my brothers. But FI has one and would like one for her
33.gif
. Keeping my fingers crossed for your DH! That sounds like a great opportunity
36.gif
36.gif

Peony-I would just wait to see if someone asks and then see if a generic "health issues" comment is enough as you mentioned.

Everyone else
35.gif

Oooh, sending tons of good vibes your way, Blen! Hoping the specifics he hears today are good and that the job will let you stay home the extra 6 weeks!

Now that I''m unswamped at work, I''m just plain exhausted. I''m hoping it''s just a combo of daylight savings and the fact that we were at a wedding this weekend so I got less sleep than usual. I was falling asleep all day yesterday and even though I went to bed around 8 last night, I''m still exhausted.
8.gif
Luckily it''s spring break this week at the school where I take my photography class so at least I can go to bed early again tonight (don''t normally get home til 10 on Wednesdays). My Bradley instructor is on vacation for the next 2 weeks too so I get a little break there as well.

I wore a dress that I already had to the wedding and I just found a pic of me wearing it on the honeymoon. Holy cow does a year and a half make a big difference! I was up 18.5 lbs since I got pregnant at my appointment last week, but I''m up more like 31 since the picture on the left was taken
32.gif

I don''t check in here too often anymore but I just did and saw that you''re having twins, Mandarine -- whooo hooooooooooooo!!! Congrats and congrats!!!
36.gif

Robbie - regardless of what the scale says, I think you look like a goddess! Gorgeous
36.gif

Whew, what a whirlwind of hormones yesterday was for me! Yikes! Thanks so much to all of you for your advice and opinions. It helps so much. Well, I did go to the appointment with the nurse and she was so nice. I was trying to hold it all in, but when she asked DH if he had any ?''s, he said "we just really want the baby to be healthy, and anything you can do to reassure us of that would help a lot." It sounded so sweet coming out of his mouth that I basically had a mini-breakdown and told her everything
emembarrassed.gif
. She was really sweet and said that the concerns I have (not feeling pregnant anymore) as well as the hormone rushes are completely normal and that I shouldn''t feel silly or embarassed. Which of course I still did, but oh well. I guess she probably sees it a lot. Anyway, so she said she would try the doppler if we PROMISED not to freak out if we couldn''t hear anything. According to their calculations, I am actually a bit behind where I thought I was (I thought yesterday was 10 wks 1 day based on FF, she said it was 9 wks 5 days). But the bottom line is- WE HEARD IT! Yay! There IS a little baby in there after all! It was crazy to hear and just the most unbelieveable thing! I was SO glad DH was there. The look on his face was priceless. As for ultrasounds, we''ll have to wait until the NT scan (have to call to see if insurance helps with that at all) or 20 weeks. Ah well, I feel a million times better after hearing the heartbeat, so that should tide me over for a bit.

Pheonix- so glad the Zofran is helping you to feel so much better! You must be so relieved.

Neat- the boys are just precious. What sweet little faces. How are you feeling and coping these days?

Blen- I would have the same concerns about initials as you. I definitely think about that. I LOVE your boy''s name. As for girls, I think Virginia Juliet and Virginia Theadora are both really pretty, but I would probably lean towards Juliet as the middle name because I think it makes the combination sound soft and romantic. Both sets of names bring to mind a queen in a royal gown (like Pandora''s wedding gown
30.gif
) in a faraway place a long long time ago- just very regal, classic and sophisticated. Hopefully you know what I mean and I don''t sound like a looney tune! And I am just outside GR! I didn''t realize you live in this part of the US. Hope you had a fun and safe trip up here today!

Peony- I agree with everyone else on the mask issue. It''s really not their business, so don''t worry about telling them up front. But if they ask, I would go with the "health issues" answer. Really could be lots of things, allergies, asthma, who knows?

China- ooohhh you lucky duck! I am so jealous of your vacation! We definitely need pics! Have some sympathy for those of us that are living in 30 degrees (or less) day in day out!
2.gif

Robbie- you look so cute in that dress, both preggo and before!

Chicco Keyfit Question

I decided to go with the keyfit after the great reviews it received on here by the PS mommies. I'm on BRU and Target and only see 4 styles. I'm wondering if in stores there would be different styles to choose from.

Also, I'm reading reviews online that the sunshade is pretty much useless which may be a problem for us since we're in FL. Any thoughts?

Natalina - I''m so glad that your appointment went so well (often the nurses/midwives are much more approachable than doctors can be - although I always like assurance from the MDs if things look worrying!)

That''s fantastic on hearing the heartbeat - did she tell you how many bpm?

Blen - even though we intend to just call Daisy - ''Daisy'', I find I need to like the sound of the middle names together. My grandmother was convinced we intended to call her ''Daisy-Pandora'' like Billy-Jo or something and rang me to say how sorry she felt for our child...
20.gif

DH is now thinking of adding in another middle name - he decided he liked Xanthe Claire if we ever had another child, and has now fallen in love with Xanthe as a name as so wants to call her Daisy Xanthe Pandora (plus he likes the initials...). There is no limit to how many middle names you can have in the UK as they''re not often used. I only have a first name as do my sister and brother, but my youngest sister is Charlotte Madeleine Louise as my parents liked all three and couldn''t make their minds up.

Is ''Daisy Xanthe Pandora'' too much???

Fantastic news re your husband''s possible job - will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Blen- Ok, well I am so not getting what the intials would be, but regardless, I don''t think you''re being too silly about initials. I feel like I use my initials a lot, and I would hate to give a kid something potentially embarrassing. Is Augusta totally out for a FIRST name? As for middle names, I think they can be for anything you want. I love middle names, simply because I love the flow and also because then I get to pick more than one name! For me, I am going to try to use a family name, or at least something that means something to me and DH, but depending on the first name. If no family names go with the first name, then I will just pick something that sounds good. CONGRATS to your DH on the job offer!!! That''s fantastic, and I hope it all works out. For some reason I thought you were in Canada!!! I guess not.
3.gif

Fiery and Natalina- Well here''s where I confess to being a bad PSer. I am terrible at taking photos, I never remember to take them. I did take a few but none of me in a bathing suit (just forgot) and none really of PR itself. I know, I know. I need to train myself to be better. It was fun, but much too short of a trip and I would really like to go back and spend some more time there. It was really windy so we couldn''t really go on the beach, but did manage to lounge by the pool.

Robbie- The only difference I see in those pics is your cute preggo belly!!!!! You don''t look bigger anywhere else. Cute pic, as usual!

Natalina- YAY for the heartbeat!!!! It helps so much, doesn''t it? And I am glad you shared with your nurse, you need to feel comfortable telling them how you feel. Glad she was nice!

Pandora- Hmmm. I don''t mind 3 names in principle. First, how do you pronounce Xanthe? I love the way it looks, but not sure how it sounds. My first reaction is that it sort of dilutes the adorableness that is Daisy Pandora. I kind of think Daisy Pandora is perfect the way she is.
9.gif
Do you think you might have more kiddos? If so, I think I would save it. But that''s just me!

So we know what''s in the envelope!!!!!
11.gif
We opened it in Puerto Rico. I let DH open it since he couldn''t wait any longer, and I have the cutest pictures of his expression as he read it. I finally remembered to take a picture!!!

Any last minute guesses before I spill?
