Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Robbie-Hopefully they can get that resolved for you on the 29th!

Thanks ladies. I actually wanted to leave because I was so embarrassed. Normally comments about my weight roll right off my back because older Hispanic women have a horrible habit of doing this so I’m used to it (although they always mean well). When comments are made in front of FI I get so embarrassed. But FI kept saying that she is from a different culture and she probably didn’t mean it in that way just doesn’t know how to communicate it well. So I let it go. I think he might have said something to the manager when I went to the restroom though because when I got back, we had a different server and the manager kept asking if everything was going well
Your FI is right. I remember when I was about 18 or so and started gaining those "Freshman 15". I went to a drapery workroom with my dad to pick up a piece and the lady who owned it looked at me and said "oh, you getting fat!!" I was mortified, but now I realize that is their culture. They will blurt things out like that. So ridiculous. The ladies at the nail salon do it too.

Blen still hasn''t shown up yet!!

I had my OB appointment today, the first of my now weekly appointments. I thought she would be checking me, but that''s not until next week.
7.gif
I guess it''s too early and I know it''s not a pleasant process, so I''m better off waiting another week, right?

We also met with a pediatrician who we liked. DH knows him from work, so that''s a plus.

35 weeks, 2 days

VERY ODD QUESTION COMING UP...

Okay, I have heard of pregnant women having pica and wanting to eat coal, chalk, bricks etc, but I seem to have developed the most incredible cravings to sniff old-fashioned mothballs or coal-tar shampoo. I have both in the house and I am having real problems not sneaking off to smell them all the time. Am I just very weird - and what the heck could be missing from my diet to make this happen (I believe they think pica is due to some kind of mineral/vitamin deficiency)???
33.gif
I''m not preggo but...

I will ditto softly softly. Pica, in pregnant women (with kids sometimes as well) is usually attributed to an iron deficiency type of anemia. The only reason I know this is because my mother told me that my aunt had it. My aunt would often be caught eating sand at the beach (or at the playground
23.gif
), and even DIRT, while pregnant. Her doctor eventually had her change her diet up a bit and put her on some supplements. All which seemed to help, because she stopped. This didn''t happen with her second pregnancy.
Thanks!

I did a bit of googling and it does seem that wanting to smell non-food items is counted as pica as well. Funnily enough I also have a thing about crushed ice and ice-cube too which I hadn''t thought was strange at all. Seems like they all point to anaemia.

I''m seeing my midwife on Wednesday and they did my bloods last time I saw them specifically to check for anaemia and confirm rhesus status in case it was incorrect at the first appointment, so will report back if it is. In the meantime I will try to stop thinking about that bottle of coal tar shampoo...

LOL Mela - what chance does my poor child have with a mother like moi?

On the hospital bag thing, I don''t know what Canadian hospitals provide, but the UK ones give you nothing - not even cotton-wool for the baby. The advice I was given on underwear was to either buy the disposable ones or bring very old ones from home that were on the point of being chucked out anyway.

Having had to wear a selection of hospital disposable knickers in the past - back operations etc - there are some very nice ones on the market and there are others that are HUGE, have uncomfortable elastic, have to be hauled up above your waist or the crotch bit is round your knees... you get the idea. Worth doing a shop round to see what is available (incontinence websites have loads of nice ones apparently - my mother is an OT and advises her patients on such things...)

I''m going to try and get a list from my mw on Wednesday - I mean, what the heck do I bring for a whole WEEK? I think ''hospital bag'' is going to be a serious understatement.
9.gif

Fiery and Robbie - I just cannot believe the comments from some people - so inappropriate and uncalled for!
29.gif
Other than my mother saying I was tiny and a cow for not having stretchmarks, and the midwives saying I was ''very neat'' the only person who has said anything to me was my physio. The first time I saw her I was 27 weeks and she actually asked if I was pregnant at the moment - until I turned sideways. On Wednesday she''d just come back from holiday and when I walked in her jaw dropped and she said "OMG, I can''t believe how much bigger you are - that bump is HUGE compared with last time".

I reckon Blen is now a yummy mummy...
19.gif

DH and I start antenatal classes on Monday - I opted for the hospital ones as I''d rather just learn about their procedures as I don''t have a huge number of options to start with. It''s also free!
1.gif

hey ladies!!!

You all look sooooooooooooooooooooooo great!!!! Really, too cute for words!! I have to get my DH to actually do the picturing taking one of these days, because i love some of the posed shots!!

Robbie - i cannot believe the guy at work
6.gif
Seriously, i''ve posted before about some of the stupid-a** comments I''ve received...people are UNBELIEVABLE!!

Fiery - I really have no words for the lady at the resturant
38.gif
What a freakin idiot!!! Culture or not, she''s an idiot...sorry!

Tacori - I saw the nursery thread w/ Tessa''s room...the funny part is we are registered for the same bedding as well!! too funny!

Here''s my pic...28 weeks, 1 day

WHERE IS BLEN?????????????????????????????????????????? Could she be doing something laborious??
27.gif
31.gif
32.gif

She usually doesn''t check in during the day, but she didn''t check in last night? Hmmmmm........

EEEK! Sorry guys, baby is still hanging out in my ute. I didn''t check in last night because I got a massage after work, and then some of my fav tv shows were on (although what kind of excuse is that?
3.gif
), and we have such a majorly strict internet policy at work that I sometimes wonder if I''ll get in trouble for like, checking to see what the weather is going to be, so I''m only ever on during the day if it''s a weekend or if I''m working from home. I''ll be sure to check in daily from now on, even if it''s just to say that I''m busy but that the baby''s not here yet.
2.gif

I''m going to go take some belly pics and try to walk the baby out (that works, right?) and then will be back later tonight.

I decided to copy Mrs because I loved it when she posted a similar pic. I''ll be back after my walk.
9.gif

38w1d.jpg

Awe, Blen, I really thought today was the day for you! We should start a poll...I put $5 (imaginary ps dollars of course) on Tuesday AM. You look totally great though!

Fiery, I''m so insulted for you! I think you look really great, and different culture or no, I would have flipped out on that server!

All the bellies are soo cute!

I also love seeing the pics of chairs/nurseries, and I get so jealous because we can''t start planning the nursery until we move.

Oh, and Miss Courtney, I think I might need to never speak to you again, if it was you that posted like a week ago that you were eating blueberry bagels (if it''s not, I truly apologize, and will be blocking whoever the heck it was). Seriously, ever since then I''ve been craving a blueberry bagel with cream cheese. And guess what, I don''t freaking LIKE blueberry bagels, but i finally gave in and bought one today because the craving just wasn''t going away. How weird is it to enjoy eating something and dislike it at the same time?!?

The 4.1 miles I just walked better coax this baby out, or at least down more into my pelvis!

I love all of the bellies. Everyone looks great, as always!
9.gif

And Mela, I love the "buffet". This might sound weird, but if your kid ends up looking anything like you, I can see him/her pulling off an unusual name more easily. I think a Romeo would work with your genes more easily than with most. Don''t forgot to throw a camera into your hospital bag! And any necessary chargers. Hospitals provide majorly sexy mesh panties, but I''d personally want to throw a couple of pairs of old undies into your bag just in case. I found that when I was lying on the mesh undies during my L&D stay, they''d start to dig into my skin and leave marks and itch. I''ve heard other ladies rave about them, but think that my own undies still would have been nice just in case. I think my birth kit includes a couple of pairs of the mesh ones though.

Pica, cravings, etc - On the radio this morning they said that the most common pregnancy craving was clay or dirt or something (which surprised me - I thougth pica was rare), and they were having people call in to guess the second most common. Turned out it was toothpaste.
33.gif
I was guessing citris or something more along those lines! They were then having people call in with weird things that they craved while pregnant, and a lot of people were talking about wood chips and stuff. I think I got off really easy with my french fries, samosas, and roasted chicken.
Pandora - glad to hear that it sounds like they''ve already tested you for the things that the cravings might indicate.

Robbie, that is just so aggrevating about the payment! Good luck getting that sorted out. And what the heck with the coworker!? Sometimes I think that people just don''t know what pregnant women are supposed to look like, and all of the variations that are NORMAL. Happy b-day! And I think I see a difference with your belly too.

Lucy - welcome to the thread! My guess is that that amount of bleeding is probably nothing, but if you''re worried you could always give your doctor/midwife''s office a call.

Fiery - that is just SO UNBELIEVABLY RUDE. I''m so sorry. You look great, really.

Courtney - I think most OBs start internals at somewhere in the 36-38 range. My m/w only does them upon request, because they don''t mean all that much - sometimes womens cervixes have barely started thinning out or dilating before they go into labor, and other times women''ll walk around at 4 cm dilated for weeks. But I still think it''s interesting to know, even though I know not to read too much into them. How exciting that you''re now on weekly appointments!

Fiery - GREAT suggestion! ''Kid Pic Fridays!''

Robbie - Happy Birthday Girlfriend!!!!!!! Forget about the caca going on and just celebrate you and all your accomplishments

BELLY PIC FRIDAY!!!!!!! In honour of hitting 32 weeks - I''ve put together a 32 week buffet! Enjoy!
BOO it''s so small. But can''t make it bigger or else its over the size limit.

LOL....haven''t heard that word since grade school
9.gif

You looked great by the way.
Love the collage.

Just popping in to check out the cute bellies

Fiery
Sorry you had the encounter with such a rude person.
It''s sad, but I can''t say that I can''t believe that those people exists because they do.
You look great.

Robbie
Love your round little belly

Courtney
I didn''t get an internal until my 39 wk appt.
Trust me, it''s not a pleasant experience.
I bled for an entire afterward

cdt
You carry so compactly.

Blen
Great belly shot!
You are soooo close....
I take Wed. morning and guess it''s going to be a boy.

Your belly shots look GORGE! I don't see any marks either? Your skin looks so good!! You're a salsalicious mommy already!

I just want to comment on your last post (re: unusual baby name). I don't want to come off as conceited, but I really really feel like my child will be able to pull off anything. I come from an artistic family (and background myself) and we're pretty 'fun' people....lol.....[I think you're allowed to call it "eccentric" if you are wealthy, and since that's not the case, I'll say "Fun" (crazy?!)]. haha. The point is, I just can't see a "David/John/Daniel" etc in my family. You know? Like, the personalities are BIG in our bloodlines - why not embrace it, right?

Anywoodle. Thats for your panty weigh in. I think I'm going to pack some oldies in my bag too

Happy Saturday morning, everyone!

Robbie and Fiery- I'll add a couple of these to the mix:
29.gif
29.gif

Some people need a serious boot up their arse every once in a while. Don't worry- they're one or two comments away from insulting the wrong pregnant woman, one who's heard the rude comments one too many times, and they'll think twice about doing it again. You're both fabulous and glowing and everyone shows differently. We don't need comments about this from strangers!

Blen- Hey there, lady! Looking good, as always. Would you kindly send me some of your 'no stretchmark' dust?
9.gif

mela- You are so cute. I'm glad there are people out there still using unusual names (as in Romeo, not Adolf Hitler!). I wish I could. It's awesome that your husband is also on board- mine is a Top 10 List lover. Boo.

Pandora- I've heard pica can be quite common in pregnancy. Has anyone seen the commercial where the pregnant woman is addicted to the smell of Gain laundry detergent, even a year after the baby is born? Smelling mothballs is one thing- try to fight any temptation to eat 'em!
26.gif

Speaking of cravings, I just bought a brand new box of Frosted Flakes and can't wait for a bowl. How sad is that- getting excited about Frosted Flakes. I don't think I've had any 'weird' cravings so far, and I haven't even preferred salty to sweet (or vice versa), I'm just always hungry. I crave so many things. Those cookies I have boxes and boxes of? I just bought vanilla frosting to dip them in. Mmmmmm.

DH and I went glider testing last night and fell in love with this oversized swivel/glider/recliner made by Best, but we took some measurements and don't think it'll fit up our stairs.
39.gif
All hope isn't lost, as we can probably fit a slimmer model up, but DH was actually excited about this piece. We'll see.

Never heard that one - here 'eccentric' is the polite term for 'somewhat strange/stark raving bonkers). I tend to be described as eccentric rather a lot (python keeping gem-nuts aren't two a penny round here
3.gif
) - and wealthy is certainly not something my bank-manager would associate with me!

I think unusual names are great - within reason... I know a girl called Tigger-Ra and I'm not sure that that will be easy to carry off!

Being beautiful, or talented or having a big personality does help with anything 'eccentric', even if that does sound terrible.

Ebree - on the stretchmark thing, I've been really suprised not to have any yet as both my mother and sister got them very badly (my father was very suprised I didn't have them when I saw them a few weeks ago) and I definitely got them on my hips and boobs during puberty.

My midwife commented on my skin at the last appointment and asked what I was using (cheapy vaseline gel from the supermarket) and I asked her about stretchmarks. She said that even with a genetic predisposition that if you keep the weight/size gain steady that you are more likely to avoid them. It really kicks in when you get a sudden growth spurt.

Oooh, this is good news! My mom claims she had none with me (and she was seriously showing...I was a large baby!) but I thought I might because I have some light ones on my hips from puberty. So far so good, but I know I have weeks to go. I haven''t been using anything- I''m not a big fan of lotion- but maybe I should start, just in case? Hmmm.

I didn''t use anything until I got to about 28 weeks and then I noticed that my skin was starting to get a bit tight and feel sore and itchy, so I use it more for that. I prefer the oil based lotions as they seem to last longer and form a barrier. The more lotiony ones rub in well, but a few hours later I''ll be putting more on.

I''ve put on 16kg so far - about 35 pounds - and it has all gone on the bump (plus the amniotic fluid, extra blood volume etc) rather than being evenly distributed - so I''m not teeny tiny. It has been a steady increase though so I''m hoping my midwife is right.

Not that I spend much time hanging out in a bikini - we don''t really have the weather for it!

Good news gals! I just had my first ultrasound today and we got to see the baby and the heartbeat. It was soooooo cool! That's right, only one baby! They put me at 6 weeks and 5 days, so that makes my due date November 16th. The tech also found tons of cysts on my ovaries and my right one especially had the classic "string of pearls" cysts that are often found in PCOS, so I really think it would have taken me MUCH longer to conceive if I hadn't tried Clomid.

I'm feeling pretty darn happy right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was also a used baby item sale a few minutes from us, and I got a almost new, supercute Peanut Shell Sling for $15 (they retail for $65), a brand new Swaddle Me for $3, and a book about early parenthood that I wanted to get anyway for only $1. So pretty good! I probably won't be buying anything else for a while, but the deals were too good to pass up.

P.S. My boobs have already gone from a 34B to a 34C! Since I'm only 6 weeks, could they get up to a D? It's so freaky how big they look to DH and me!
9.gif

Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks ladies! My mom never got stretchmarks, so I was hoping I was home free, but I did get them - you just can't really see them in the pics. I have light, minimal ones on my hips that don't really bother me, a bunch on my thighs (including, apparently, inner thighs), and a lot of dark ugly ones on the undersides of my boobs. The weird thing is that while all of those things are bigger, I feel like the most dramatic weight gain and skin stretching has been in my belly and that got off fine. And apparently salsalicious!
9.gif

Unusual baby names - my worry is always, what if my kid turns out to be awkward looking, or chunky (which is hard enough as a high school girl), or something like that? I feel like it's a lot easier to get away with unusual stuff if you look like a movie star. Hubby's pretty solidly built, as is my mom's side of my family. So if our kid gets those genes, it might be a lot easier to live as a George than as, say, a Leonidas. Plus, I face the same problem as Ebree where hubby is really really picky and nixes anything off-beat.

Peony - congrats on one baby with a heartbeat! It sounds like it was really good that you decided to go with the Clomid. Great job with the finding baby deals! And it is very possible to get to a D with a bit more time.

Happy Saturday!!

Fiery/Robbie- I am astounded at those remarks.Fiery, you are WAY better than I am, I am a hot-headed Aries and for sure would have either said something to her or the manager. You are so cute the way you are. And Robbie too, both of you look more than amazing.

Pica/cravings- I've heard of it, but I don't know anyone IRL that had it. My cravings have been pretty normal. Like Ebree, salty rather than sweet mostly. But I am always like that anyways. Not a big sweets person. Seems like I just crave what I normally crave, but in bigger impulses. The big things I notice that reoccur is peanut butter, avocado, and pancakes. Don't get me wrong- I do crave some sweets but mostly salty. Though I walk by a donut shop on my way to work and I can SMELL the sugar on the doughnuts and it is major will-power not to stop everyday. I don't really want chicken at all- I'll eat it but rarely and I haven't cooked it since being preggo. Can't stand the sight of raw chicken. Oh, but for some reason I can't stop eating chicken salad sandwiches. And taco bell. Bad, I know, but a bean burrito is really doing it for me these days.

Sabine- Funny about the blueberry bagel! So did you eat and enjoy it, but mentally knew you didn't really like it, or did you simultaneously enjoy it and dislike it at the same time?

Stretchmarks/oil: Ebree, that comment that you "don't care for lotion" really has me giggling over here. Not sure why- guess it seems like a funny thing to not care for. I love lotion. I have been using an oil and then a thick shea-butter type lotion over it and I love it. Not sure it actually helps with stretchmarks, but it feels good and I can't stand to be itchy. It's by Mama Mio and it's stupidly expensive, but a friend sent me a gift of it when I first got preggo and now I'm hooked.

Peony- Hey there!!! Isn't a relief to know all is well? How are you feeling? Saw on TTC you have been having m/s? That sucks, but it will pass. Try to find something, anything you can eat and just stick with it. Can't help you with the boob thing- am I the only one whose boobs haven't gotten much bigger???? I mean, they are definitely fuller and such but pretty sure I haven't gone up a cup size.

SABINE, FIERY, EBREE- or anyone else: When did you start feeling kicks????? Is it normal that I am 21 weeks and haven't felt anything yet? Starting to get worried. Fiery and Ebree, I know you can feel them- Sabine what about you? I think you are right ahead of me. Heard the h/b last week so not totally freaked out, but still.

Names- You know, I totally understand that theory about unusual names. On the other hand, if you think about it IRL, kids tend to grown into their names. My cousin's daughter has a weird name for a girl, and not cool weird, at least IMO, but it just fits her. She's not traditionally pretty, but she's funky and smart and it just works.

As for me, just waiting for the kicks. Still have rib pain. A friend suggested not wearing underwire bras, so I've switched, but it's still there. Also, I PROMISE I am going to take a belly pic today- I think I finally look pregnant.

DH and I are off to look at strollers and such. Wish me luck, I already feel overwhelmed!

To all the newly preggos that have joined lately! Seems like there's a whole bunch of you, which is cool. How are you guys doing? AMBER, SUNKIST, MANDARINE, NATALINA- I know I'm forgetting someone, sorry! Also, MISS LYSSER. You are the queen of lurking! Thinking about you, hope you're doing okay. Come out and say hi. Any name choices for you? I'm having a hard time with boy names.

Morning all! Just a day away from 6 weeks, our appointment is on Tuesday (yay!) and we''re doing well. So far I''ve been okay, no real sickness aside from random waves of nausea and breast tenderness on the outer sides of the boobs and with a little bit of squeezing, like when I roll over in my sleep or pick up the dog. I''m still alternately stuffed and runny, and I''m still a victim of the pregnancy poos (opposite of constipation!), but it''s allll welcome! My nipples are always out and larger (so not cute), and DH said they look "Swollen". Got the vein roadmap going on as well, I''m definitely in the "these boobs are made for feeding" time. I''ve been sleeping a couple extra hours a day, but it''s not like I get the feeling of "I MUST SLEEP" that I read about, at least not in the afternoon!

Pica: I actually had that growing up. I was known for eating dirt, clay, leaves and charcoal! I''m partially worried it will inflict me during the pregnancy, one thing that has been making my mouth water (gross) is the smell of freshly rained on sidewalks! What the heck! I''m a monster! My parents thought my childhood pica was because I was a pure vegetarian, and a very picky one at that. I didn''t take vitamins, ate few leafy greens other than spinach, and basically had no protein!

Kay, your A is gorgeous!

Rest of the newly preggos with me: how are you guys?

Wishing comfort for all the established preggos, Blen, your belly is adorable. I can''t wait until I have one of those!

Hi all!

Be sure to post a picture! I would love to see what the room looks like. I still love her bedding/nursery. What colors are you going to paint the walls?

Hey Amber! I think I''m one of the newly preggos you''re talking about.
9.gif
I''m experiencing fairly bad morning sickness and food aversions (throwing up about 2x per day), my boobs have gone up a size, and I''m peeing constantly!!! A little more tired than usual, but not a ton. The peeing thing is hard because I''m a student and it''s excrutiating to get through a 2 hr class. Oh well, I''m done at the end of April.

I''m excited for you 1st appt! Please let us know how it goes!!!!!! I am sending you good vibes.

I don''t want to be a party pooper but my mom didn''t get stretch marks at all, and I gained weight steadliy, and I got mega stretch marks on my lower tummy area!
14.gif
Granted, I gained a fair amount of weight, but not so much in my tummy, that was all from le bebe. I did have extra amniotic fluid, so maybe that made my belly bigger? They showed up in the third trimester mostly.

There is nothing you can do to prevent stretch marks, all the creams are a scam. Stretch marks happen when the elastin in your skin can''t keep up with the growth, so creams won''t help since they don''t actually increase elastin.

China, I started to feel the baby just before 21 weeks - but it took a good long while before they were definite kicks.

I tried loads of different bras in the hope it would help the rib thing, tried not wearing one at all when I was just at home and not doing much and actually found those without underwiring were even less comfortable - I bought a load from Sloggi in the end that are super comfortable, don''t dig in anywhere, and sadly make no difference to the rib thing whatsoever.

So far I haven''t had any kicks under the ribcage at all - the baby doesn''t often go above my navel, so defiinitely not the cause for me sadly. All they can tell me is that it''s inflammation and should go away after the birth when they can give me some anti-inflammatories. I am dreading trying to breastfeed if it doesn''t go...

Peony - great news on the scan! Sympathy for the m/s, I hope yours disappears sooner rather than later.

On the boobs, I found I went up a bit at the beginning and then a lot around 28 weeks. I''ve always been a 36 B and could easily do the pencil thing. I''ve found it very incomfortable now that I''m up to a 38 C and a blooming great board-marker would happily stay-put. I''ve been told they could get up to a D. I''m not loving the new look...

Amber - I love that smell of rain on earth, concrete etc but that not a new one. I also ate rather a lot of mud as a child so perhaps it''s more normal for me. I''ve only been sniffing the shampoo 3 times so far today so I am resisting well!

Hi All, and happy Saturday! I''m taking a really easy day. It''s almost 2 and I still haven''t gotten dressed
31.gif
I realllly need to get out to the grocery store and run a couple errands and then clean house, so I''d better kick myself into gear

I think I''m taking advantage of this pregnancy thing!

Peony I''m sorry you''re hit with the m/s already!! I hope you can find a way to ease it. My mom always said she had to eat crackers or something in the morning before she even opened her eyes and that seemed to help, just keeping food in her stomach.

I feel like I''m peeing a lot too, but I''m sure it''s cause I''m always so thirsty! I''m drinking water like a camel. And eating too. I''m eating constantly while at work. I can''t keep full, it''s nuts. And then after I eat lunch I get this weak feeling in my body. I wonder if that becaause my body is working on digesting the food? But Peony congrats on seeing the little one on the ultrasound!!!!
36.gif
That is awesome news. I''m so happy for you! It must feel so much more real now? I hope it does for me too.

Amber I can''t wait for your appt now! So only the sides of your boobs hurt? I wonder if that''s what I''m feeling then. Yesterday I noticed the sides slightly sore, but I thought it could also be because of my workout. I don''t have any other change though.

I''m loving reading about everyone pregnancies here! I hope everyone''s doing well.

CDT, your belly is so cute!

Blen, I''m putting my imaginary $5 on tomorrow for Sabine''s poll. I think your baby wants to share a birthday with moi

.

Sabine, I''m not comprehending how you can simultaneously like and dislike something you''re eating all at once. It''s all or nothing for me, and last night was filled with a lot of loving jalepeno popper dip and chocolate fondue with strawberries, bananas, graham crackers and oreos.

Ebree, after all this talk about Best chairs, I went to try some yesterday and didn''t like them at all. You guys must have different ones than we do here. The ones I tried were all so uncomfortable to me!

As for stretchmarks, I''ve got none yet, which surprised me at first, but from reading posts on thebump, I realize that they can show up at any time. My mom had them with me and I have a ton from puberty on my hips and boobs, so I fully expect to get them. It''s just a matter of when. I know that lotions won''t do anything to prevent them, but they sure do feel nice when you''re itchy! Right now I alternate between this super cheap cocoa butter I picked up at walmart and Curel''s Life Stages pregnancy. I love the way the curel smells, but it''s a heavier creamier lotion than the cocoa butter.

Peony, congrats on seeing the hb! My boobs started growing rather quickly. I went from a 34c/d to a ???. LOL. I get a different answer every time I get measured. The ones that felt the best were 32''s (34''s tend to ride up in the back on me, I just never realized until I tried on 32''s) and I got up to a G/H in that. I couldn''t find them in stores though and my ebay luck ran out, but then I found a 34DD that fits really well from champion. No other DD''s fit so I think this bra is just big and I''m really a 32G(DDDD)/34F(DDD). You could get a lot bigger or you could stay the same until your milk comes in. No way to really tell until it happens.

China, I think rib pain might just be one of those unfortunate pregnancy symptoms. Our ribs expand at some point and, well, I guess it hurts! While I''m not looking forward to the hurting, I''m kind of hoping that my ribs will expand me to a 36 while my boobs will stay the same so I can actually find bras again, lol.

Amber, speaking of "these boobs were made for feeding," I was at a friend''s house yesterday for a Mary Kay party and her 4 month old son seemed to just be mesmerized by all the boobs! It was like he thought he was at a buffet, lol.

Ok, back to chairs. Upon the advice of you lovely ladies, I went chair shopping yesterday and today and I''ve found one that I really really like. It''s regular upholstered rocking recliner and it''s actually only $50 more than the glider we originally registered for. It was between 2, but this one won out because it''s a touch smaller than the other and it has a smoother rocking motion. Since it''s from a furniture store, we can''t register for it. I had planned on just mentioning that we were thinking about buying it when we''re at my bday dinner at the in-laws house tomorrow, but DH wants to just flat out ask his parents/siblings if they were planning to get us something in that price range as a gift. I could definitely see his siblings (4 of them) all going in on something like that, but I don''t really think it''s right to flat out ask what they''re planning to get us. Oh well, it''s his family so I''ll let him do what he wants.

Ok, off to birthday dinner #1 for me! It''s great that both my mom and MIL have let me choose the menu for my home-cooked bday dinners, but it would''ve been way cooler if I could''ve picked whatever I was craving at that exact moment. Probably wouldn''t have been to easy to work out logistically though, lol. Luckily flank steak, baked potatoes, brussel sprouts and ice cream cake still sounds delicious for tonight.

I haven't been using anything- I'm not a big fan of lotion- but maybe I should start, just in case? Hmmm.

I don't want to be a party pooper but my mom didn't get stretch marks at all, and I gained weight steadliy, and I got mega stretch marks on my lower tummy area!

Stretch marks happen when the elastin in your skin can't keep up with the growth, so creams won't help since they don't actually increase elastin.

Yup. Don't waste your money on fancy creams/lotions unless you just purely enjoy them. I got stretch marks fairly late in the game during my pregnancy, so until that baby is out don't assume you won't get them unfortunately.

But I hope none of you do!

China, I started feeling little twinges around 19 weeks off and on (once or twice a week) and now I''m feeling them stronger and MUCH more often (usually more than once a day), but I still can''t feel anything outside the belly. Do you know if you have an anterior placenta? Either way, it''s definitely not time to worry yet.

Peony, yay for the good scan! My boobs went up once size pretty early on, and now they have already gone up another, and I have oh so lovely stretchmarks to go with it. I''m definitely having bra trouble because 38''s are too big in the band and ride up, but the 36''s that fit in the band for some reason have underwire that cuts in too much on the sides even though the actual cups are bigger. Ugh.

And for the bagels, it is the oddest sensation. I really do enjoy it and dislike it simultaneously. Some bites are heavenly, but then I''ll take a bite and want to spit it out, and then I know I''m done. So strange.

Tacori - I saw the nursery thread w/ Tessa''s room...the funny part is we are registered for the same bedding as well!! too funny!

Be sure to post a picture! I would love to see what the room looks like. I still love her bedding/nursery. What colors are you going to paint the walls?
I was curious and looked around to see what bedding you''re talking about, and it happens to be my favorite set!! Unfortunately hubby wouldn''t go for it (and never told me why), but that''s a great choice!

Robbie - let''s hope that the baby proves you right re: when it comes.

Sabine - I totally get what you''re saying. I normally find pickles to be so utterly disgusting that I have a hard time being in the room with them (the smell is really strong to me), yet I still managed to have a strong pickle craving for about half an hour much earlier on. It was the weirdest thing, because I was just craving them and gagging at the thought of the smell at the same time. It passed pretty quickly, fortunately.

Hi everyone. I typed a long post last night including responses to several of your posts and then I hit backspace to correct a typo and instead the laptop decided to go back to the previous page. I lost it at that point and cussed and yelled about how much I despise laptops.

I had a rough night besides that little overreaction. I went to a movie with DH and a friend. About an hour into it, I felt very sick: nauseous and like I was going to blackout. I leaned my head on DH''s shoulder and it went away after a couple of minutes. 5 minutes later, the same wave came over me, but it was worse. I broke into a horrible sweat. DH kept asking if I could walk and I said I couldn''t. My friend left the theater to get some help and at that time, the feeling went away again. We left and on the car ride home, it happened again. All I wanted to do was just pass out so that I could feel better. It was out of control. After that 3rd time, I finally agreed we needed to call the doc. The on call doc said that if it happened again to take my heart rate. If it was over 115, she would have me come in for an EKG. She asked if I was having chest pains and I when I said I wasn''t, she didn''t seem too concerned. I got home and laid on my left side and it didn''t happen again. Maybe it was a circulation thing? Anyways, it was pretty scary. I had had plenty of food and fluids yesterday, so it wasn''t that.

Sabine, sorry about the blueberry bagel idea I put in your head, but if it makes you feel better, all I want are Frosted Flakes now that Ebree mentioned it!!!

Pandora, I want to see a belly shot from you!

Peony- Congratulations on hearing the heartbeat! That's great news. Blah to m/s!

China- I know...who isn't a fan of lotion, right? I've just never really needed it, and when I use it, it doesn't seem to absorb into my skin well. For instance, if I put it on and two hours later, run my hands/arms under some water, it comes off in a slimy mess. Does that happen with everyone? Before pregnancy, my skin was pretty soft- now, it's dry, dry, dry. I may just become a lotion fan!

Re: Feeling kicks, do you mean you haven't felt him at all, or you aren't feeling *kicking*? If kicking, don't worry...they'll become kicks soon. If you haven't felt much at all, as Sabine mentioned, you may have an anterior placenta (located on the 'front side' of your uterus). If so, it's common.

Amber- Good luck at your appt. on Tuesday! I'll be thinking about you and the bub.

Robbie- How weird- the Best chairs were our favorites, and we sat in a LOT of 'em. Did you try any of the big, soft, upholstered ones?

Thank you all for advice on stretchmarks! I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best! And if I get 'em, well, that's part of the whole process, isn't it? They'll be badges of love.

In other news, our three big furniture pieces for the nursery are purchased! Woo-hoo!

We went back to the same place this morning after doing some more furniture research. I'd decided it was important for us to get a dresser with as much storage as possible (5 or 6 drawers), and preferably something low that could double as a changing table. Well, we took another look at a beautiful Munire set that had been seriously discounted (I'm talking $400 discounted!) because of a couple tiny scratches on the crib and *one* small scratch on the corner of the dresser. I realized, upon looking at it again, that the dresser included was the long, low, six-drawer dresser I'd wanted! After the shop owner assured us he'd bring his furniture restoration guy in to completely fix the scratches at no cost, we grabbed it! We also ordered a heavenly Best swivel/glider/rocking chair and a half. It's so comfortable and big enough to sleep in because the back reclines.

All in all, a pretty productive day.

ETA: Now that I've looked at Tacori's crib (for Tessa) again, I think we bought from the same collection. Tacori, is yours from the Urban collection in espresso? If so, how have you liked the crib/dresser so far?
