Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I mostly lurk, but just wanted to let you lovely ladies know that uddercovers.com has a promotion right now where you can get a nursing cover for free (you just pay $7.95 for s/h). The promotional code is onefree. Figured they would come in handy soon. I think they only have pink and blue left, but still a really good deal!

Hi ladies!

I'm still here and still keeping tabs on y'all!

The belly shots are fantastic! I'm a bit too shy (and, um, fat) to post any...but I'm loving y'alls!

Courtney - I'm sorry about feeling crummy. That stinks!

Blen - Many labor vibes going your way. Fwiw, you look fantastic! And I totally get what you are saying about unusual names a nerdy type kid...it'd be tough! DH and I are totally reconsidering out names...we have NO IDEA what to name the old boy! Oh, and many head down vibes going your way as well!

CC - Hey Girl! I wouldn't worry about your decision regarding the testing. And don't let one person's story scare you! I've read a TON of stuff on other baby boards and I've sort of scared myself straight - there are so many people with horror stories out there. It is hard to remember that the VAST majority of babies are born totally healthy! And as for feeling movement, I've felt the kid move (or at least what I THINK is the kid moving) twice. I'm 17 weeks. Both times it was in the middle of the day, after I'd had some juice or a bit of candy and I laid down VERRRRRY still and concentrated. And really, it was super super super light. It almost felt like the kid was barely tapping, right under my belly button. If I wasn't laying uber still and concentrating, I never would have felt it. But I totally wouldn't worry! First time mama's usually don't feel it forever! Oh, and I've been craving avocado and peanut butter too. I swear, I eat avocado at least once a day. My current love is avocado sushi. LOVE IT. And they do it up pretty well at wholefoods! YUM!

Pandora - I have no idea about the pica!

Peony - Congrats on seeing the h/b! That is a huge monument!

Ambert - I'm totally going to be thinking about you on the 31st! Many good vibes going your way!!!

Fiery - I just wanted to chime in that that woman was HORRID! And you look great! I was out to lunch with a friend of mine, who was NOT pregnant, and the hostess asked her when she was due. It was awful. I just believe the things that people say.

Robbie - Did you get the credit card stuff worked out? I hope so. And FWIW, I think it is better to just stop using the card than close the account. I know that closing the account can sometimes negatively impact credit. So, take that for what it is worth.

Sabine - When are you guys moving? Soon, right? Looking at and considering and pondering nursery stuff is fun! We have been enjoying the heck out of it!

Lucy - Welcome! I wouldn't worry about the slight spotting you experienced. But if you are worried, I'd call the doc for sure! I've called my doc so often I've got their number memorized!

As for books, my bestie, who has a two year old who has been a great sleeper since she was about three months, SWEARS by Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.

The chair thing - Man, we have a really nice rocker from my Grandmother, who passed away about a year and a half ago. It is a really nice chair, but it doesn't have padded arms. We might try it for a bit after the kid comes and see how we like it - maybe switch to something with padded arms if we decide it is necessary? Not sure.

As for me, I'm doing much better these days. I'm 17w today! Which is a bit nuts, really! Anxiety is much better, for the most part. I'm really starting to feel like myself again, which is wonderful. And I know my DH, friends and family are quite happy about it too! Apparently, I hadn't been much fun t be around the first 15 weeks!

Nausea is still KICKING my butt...I gag several times a day and *almost* puke, but I haven't puked in like 5 days. Which is a marked improvement...and really, I can live with the pukey feelings.

I'm sure I've missed folks, but I'm thinking about everyone and reading every day!

lisa- Thanks for the heads-up! I'll head over there now to see if they have any left.

Hey there, Lysser! I'm glad you're doing better, though I'm sorry about the nausea. Hopefully it'll go away completely soon.

I am SO with you and China on the avocado and peanut butter cravings. I beg DH to go to a local mexican chain for the tableside guacamole weekly, and I love eating cold peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon. Mmmm.

I''ve been second guessing our baby names that we picked out a year ago!
emteeth.gif

Right now he and I both like Evangeline Rae (Rae is a family name) and Aidan Phoenix (yes I know Aidan is common--but FI wouldn''t let me use Phoenix unless it was a normal first name).

But I also like Carys Olivia and Easton Cruz.....

I keep having people criticize the names and I think that is affecting my judgement but I''m normally the type who doesn''t care--hence why we told people close to us--I figured that they were names we liked and too bad if someone else didn''t like them. Now I just keep second guessing myself.

Ugh!

Everyone looks so fantastic with their beautiful belly''s!

Courtney--that sounds really scary. Glad to hear everything is okay now.

Blen, maybe if you show him T''s nursery pic he will change his mind. Sometimes it helps to see it in real life. I love it. Perfect for a girl or a boy. We didn''t find out her sex so it is tough to find neutral bedding.

Ebree, yes it is the urban in espresso. I love it. Very sturdy. I never had an issue with the crib not having a drop side (and I am short so that was a concern). We have the tall dresser. I never put the stainless knobs on (it comes with both) but I probably should. I found *almost* matching end tables at Target for cheap. Yay! I didn''t want to pony up the money for the matching ones. What I love about the crib is that it will make a beautiful double bed in the future (always thinking ahead). I like clean lines.

Tacori - I will definitely post pics of the nursery once it''s complete! We painted the room an aqua blue color and I did an accent wall w/ blue, green and white stripes!! It came out looking really cool....we love it! We didn''t register for the entire bedding set because i figured we wouldn''t use the bumper or comforter. But I wanted those polka dot sheets and the striped lamp. As well as the mobile. We ordered the furniture yesterday and will have it within the next 2 weeks!!! So excited...love the furniture. And I agree that one of the reasons I wanted it was it would look great as a bed further down the road
1.gif

Here is the nursery thread that we are talking about if anyone is interested. A few mommies posted their rooms in there before it died.

cdt, sounds cute! Are you getting the valance? I do use the quilt, on the the chair, but took out the bumper when we moved her into her crib at four months. I replaces it with a mesh bumper b/c you really NEED something. She got her leg caught the first night so I bought it the next day. Plus the weirdo LOVED to sleep with her head smashed against the side to at least the mesh has a little padding. I know there was another mom with that bedding that did painted big circles.

Tacori - i bought the mesh bumper already. I lurked in this thread before there was a mommy thread (long before i was preggo) so I''ve used all the great advice from PS mommies
9.gif
I don''t know what we mommies to be would do w/out the advice from the vets...hehee. And we couldn''t do the valance
7.gif
because we have really wide windows that open left to right, not up and down. And honestly I think they''re ugly (our windows), so i wanted to cover the window as much as possible, so we did curtains (only to window sill, not long) w/ sheers....i decided to go w/ green curtains from pottery barn....i think they look really good! Can''t wait to see everything come together, although we really do not have a theme per say, I''m trying to just go for relaxing beachy feel and felt the Migi Splash bedding would work (because of the fish). We''ll see....it''s a work in progress!!

Thanks so much everyone!

It''s nice to have the feedback from the more experienced preggos.

Sunkist, when is your first appointment? I hope it goes really well!

I'm starting to feel like I'm never going to have this baby. I had 2 or 3 hours of painful contractions 7-8 minutes apart last night, and then they just petered out. My m/w says to try to think of it as less work that my body will have to do during labor, but I'm just getting sick of getting my hopes up for nothing.
7.gif

China - where is this belly pic that you promised?
2.gif

LisaMarie - Thanks for the heads up!!
35.gif

Tacori - thanks for the suggestion - I'll have to show DH your nursery pics.

Courtney - that sounds scary! I hope that you're feeling better.

LL - how'd you get to be 17 weeks!? I'm glad to hear that the m/s is dying down.

Ebree - that sounds like a productive day.

Tao - I really like both of your girls' names! Aidan and similar names are common right now, but Aidan's definitely my favorite of the group. People just seem to feel a need to comment on baby names (like I just did
3.gif
), and I've found that some people's opinions are just different than ours and ultimately it's our kid. Plus, I think it's pretty common to do a lot of second-guessing of name choices during pregnancy. For me at least, it was a lot different to think of names that I would actually be putting on a real human being who would have to live with that name than it was to think of them in a theoretical sense. You still have time to bat around different name ideas between you and your FI and try to find one that really seems to stick. Are you going to find out the sex?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE! I hope you have a great day!

Happy Sunday to everyone else
35.gif
We worked on the registry this weekend. I seriously don''t know what I would do without the baby bargains book. We were going to buy an entire bedding set including quilt and bumpers. But after reading the book, we''re only getting fitted sheets and comfy blankets. The coldest it gets here is maybe in the 30s for a day or two so we would have no use for a quilt. And because the sheets are really inexpensive, we''re going to register for it.

Re: stretchmarks. So far, so good. I''m obsessed with drowning myself in lotion especially since my favorite perfume smells funny on me now. I don''t know if that has to do with the hormones but it just doesn''t smell the same so I''m using lotion to keep the funk to a minimum
3.gif

Blen-Glad to see you around. You look great! I feel the opposite about the unusual name and having to look like a movie star. I think if the child is awkward (which he/she won''t be!), having a unique name gives him/her that extra edge.

Ebree-Frosted flakes and apple jacks are my favorite cereals now! I can eat bowls all day. Yay for purchases!!

Peony-Congrats on seeing the babe!! I went from a 36C to a 38D around 12 weeks and have stayed there.

China-Hi
35.gif
I feel like I haven''t "talked" to you in ages! I started feeling really faint flickers at exactly 17w3d. If I wasn''t paying attention, I would have missed it. It was really so faint. The stronger kicks didn''t happen until about 19/20 weeks and I could also feel it on the outside. It may be the position of your placenta as already stated or it just may not be strong enough yet. I wouldn''t worry about it!

Amber-Good luck on Tuesday!

Courtney-I hope you are feeling better hun. That sounds like a really scary experience.

LL-It''s great to hear from you! Just 3 more weeks and you''ll be halfway done!!

Tao-People are full of opinions. I would just let it brush off and choose a name that really works for you!

Tomorrow is my glucouse test. Yippee
40.gif
. But I get another u/s to check the position of my placenta. Hopefully it has moved up. See you all later

Happy Birthday, Robbie!

We worked on the registry this weekend. I seriously don''t know what I would do without the baby bargains book.

Isn''t Baby Bargains fabulous? I won''t make big purchases without it consulting it first. There are so many different choices in each category, and I want to make sure we''re getting our money''s worth.

Had to come check in on my mommies to be!

Blen, it's time, girlie!! Thinking positive labor vibes for you. Last vote: GIRL.
9.gif

Robbie, Happy happy birthday!!!

Nyc, How are you doing these days, girl?

Ebree, I love how your baby's growing!! Cuteness!

Fiery, I'm sorry you came across an idiot that day. Hopefully no one else will be that stupid! You look pregnant and beautiful, sweetie! PS-How mad was your fiance that she said such hateful things??

China, Yeah, where's that picture you promised??

Pandora, Is your camera cord still missing? Must find it before Daisy comes!!
9.gif

Sabine, You're showing more now. How cute!! I love baby bumps!!

Peony, So glad your appt. went well. Did you cry when you saw the baby? I know it doesn't look like much yet... but it's a baby!!!

Thinking of all my girls who have their first appt. coming up!! (Amber, how have you been doing with NOT temping?
9.gif
)

LL, this may be too personal, and if it is, by all means ignore this question, but I had noticed that in the past you'd stated you didn't know if you wanted to have children. What changed it for you? I'm always curious about how people change their minds about being parents (either to be or not to be). Hope your m/s goes away, all the way, soon!!

Peony it''s April 10th. Two more weeks!

Happy Birthday, Robbie!!!

Yikes, Blen...for 2 to 3 hours? That''s no fun. If they had just been a couple minutes less apart, your MW would''ve come over I''m sure. It just means your closer, so hang in there! And I''ll be needing this same pep talk in a couple weeks, by the way.

I''ve been nesting all day and I''m just exhausted. My mom came over and we hung up pictures, sorted through all the clothes, and I''ve done 3 loads of laundry. I had a massage a little while o agthat was really nice, but I''m back to folding clothes and I''m uncomfortable again! ha

I haven''t had the fainting spells since Friday night, so I''m hoping it was just a fluke thing.

Peony, my boobs grew a lot at first and then kind of stopped. I even think they''ve gone down a little bit. I''m so glad you conceived and I hope that string of pearls go away on their own pretty soon!

Robbie, happy birthday and enjoy your delish meals!

Happy Birthday Robbie!!!

Sunkist, do you know your EDD? I forgot if you're having a Nov or a Dec baby! Of course, most babies don't come on their due date.
9.gif

Fisher, honestly I was mostly shocked and relieved, and the whole ultrasound was about 30 seconds or so and the tech was all-business so there was no time to break down! I was so convinced when they went in there I would have an empty uterus! I think I just kept saying "woah" over and over! The whole thing is very surprising and surreal. I can't wait until you have yours!! They did give me a picture of my little blob, and I've stared at it for about a million hours since. I will post my picture of it when I post on belly Friday!
9.gif

Blen, good luck to you!! Only a few more days, I'm sure!

Hey fisher!...thanks for checking up on me, I''ve just kinda been a downer latley and didn''t want to contribute any negativity while everyone is enjoying baby stuff and all. I duno why but im upset a lot these days and bedrest isn''t helping much. I can''t nest which I really wanna do...I want to clean and rearrange and organize but alas can''t do anything. Very emotional these days...but hey today is 32wks!...we''ve hit our 2nd goal! And next one is 34 ;)

Robbie- happy bday!

Court- scary what happened...I know that feeling all too well...could it have to do with blood sugar or bp?

Belly pics were sooo cute!

Blen- im hopin baby will be here soon..hang in there u are soooo strong to be dealing with those contractions so well!

<3

Checking in on Blen. How''re you feeling, hon?

Bleh. My m/w just came over to do another exam because of the potentially wonky positioning. It was going to be earlier today, but she was at a birth. The bad news - now that I''m 1 cm dilated, she could stick her finger up my cervix enough to determine that it''s still like 3 cm long. (I think I misinterpreted what she said before - thinking that 70% of the work was done, vs having 70% of the way to go.) But, basically, way thicker than I thought it was and no progress in that arena. Baby''s at -2 station, so still fairly high. And all this despite the painful contractions and all of the walking I''ve been doing - I even walked another 4 miles today to try to help it drop more.
39.gif
The good news - she''s now 80% sure that baby''s headdown, and my cervix has started moving forwards which it needs to do before birth. She said to expect a 41-42 weeker. But with all of these false alarms, I''m just feeling DONE and discouraged. Ebree, thanks for asking.

Courtney- I actually never bothered to call her last night, because it was late enough that I wanted to be sure that I wasn''t waking her up for nothing. I mean, I know that she wouldn''t have minded (and she keeps telling me that I''m allowed and encouraged to call her if I want), but I''d still feel bad. The massage and nesting sounds nice. I just love having everything in order.

NYC - I''m sorry to feel that you''re feeling down too. Honestly, I''m not sure if you''d be more of a downer than me either.
2.gif
32 weeks is GREAT! You''re doing a great job of keeping those babies in.

Robbie - happy b-day! I hope that you''re having a great day.

Fishie - I think that''s like the 10th GIRL vote that you''ve given me.
3.gif
2.gif
Thanks for the vibes.

Fiery - good luck tomorrow with the u/s and glucose testing.

Hey all- will respond to everyone later. Trying to upload pictures. I read the sticky post about it, but I have a Mac and can''t right-click. Any Mac users? How do I save the pictures that are already on my computer as a file that will upload onto PS? How do I shrink it and rename it? Thanks in advance!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE!!!!!!!!!!!
36.gif

HI China! Are your pictures in iPhoto? It's easiest if you can drag them into there. Select the photo. Then go to File, Export, then change Format to jpg and do the pixels at like 300x500. Save it to your desktop, then go to PS and select that photo off your desktop. Hope that helps!

eta: oh, and if you need to re-name it, you can either do that while you're exporting from iPhoto, or once it's on your desktop you can highlight the text in the name and re-type something there.

Blen That is exactly where I was at your stage, and I was also told that I would go overdue. We even spent a lot of time talking about induction.Yet my water broke on my due date! There is really no good way to predict, anything can happen! Stay strong, you aren''t even at your due date yet so try not to let anyone''s predictions get you down. I found that all the negativity leading up to my labour was really hard to deal with, so I know how you feel. It is hard when they say, "Oh I would have liked you to be further along at this point" or "You will go overdue" or some such thing. For me it felt somehow like my body was letting me down when they made those comments. But your baby will come when he/she is ready, there is nothing you can do about it and nothing anyone predicts will affect it either!

Ok, trying this...

Belly pic at like 18 weeks:

Peony, my EDD is Nov.21. Did the doctor change your EDD? I thought our dates were 4 days apart. You and Amber are getting into the doc early, that''s cool! Or rather, I think I''m getting in there late. I''ll be 7w6d. When I made the appt my insurance wasn''t going to be switched to this doc until April 1st, and then for April he was full until the 10th. Later that day it turned out that my insurance was retroactively good since the 1st of March. But I figured I already had a appt and I didn''t want to call and change it. Besides I''m still within the 6-8 weeks that the doctor likes to first see you. I''m hoping we can hear the heartbeat when we go! Peony did you hear the h/b or just see it?

THANKS SUNKIST!!!!!!! Mac is so much easier. Can't believe that worked.

Here is a pic from yesterday: 21 weeks.

ETA: Ok, wow that is a big picture. I scared myself. Sorry!!!!!

DD thanks so much. I''m taking this a lot harder than I thought I would - I went into pregnancy expecting 41-42 weeks, since first time moms tend to go "late" and that''s when I came along, but with the bleeding episode and all of the contractions I''ve just been afraid of a preemie for long enough now that I feel like this pregnancy is just stretching on and on. And people keep telling me that they only see my body holding out for a few more days, at most, despite me having no real progress so far. It''s getting tiring. I wish everyone (other than you girls, of course!) would just shut up about it. Anyways, thanks for the commiseration/support - I really do appreciate it.

blen real quick, don''t get down about POSSIBLY going longer than your due date. i was told that i would go longer than my due date. i went to the doc for my weekly exam, and the doc told me that i was nowhere near anything happening. i was so down, i was ready to cry right there in the office. she actually told me to schedule the next visit with another doc to talk about induction as i was way too uncomfortable. anyways, that day i went into labor. i think it was just my little guy''s way of telling the docs to shut it KWIM? no one knows what is going to happen and when it will happen. you look great by the way!!

hope all the other preggos are taking care!! i love all your belly pics too...just so dang cute and tiny!!

ChinaCat, your belly is so cute! In the first picture you don''t even look pregnant. It looks more like you ate a big meal!

Sunkist, I think it''s fine that you''re being seen a little later! Maybe you''ll get to see the baby''s arms and legs. Ours just looks like a blob, hehe, although I''ve started at it long enough that I can pretend to pick out all the body parts! My mom (who doesn''t know I''m pregnant yet!) mentioned to me today that she never had any ultrasounds with me. We got to see and hear the heartbeat. She only showed the baby for about 30 seconds, so it was really fast! She did a transvaginal with me (aka dildocam). My due date according to charting was Nov 18, but she gave me a date of Nov 16 based on the size of the baby. Even this early on the dates according to ultrasound can be up to 5 days off. I forgot that you got your BFP so close to mine! We could be in labor together.
