Congrats NYC!

Sha, stretchmarks are mainly linked to your genes, and your weight gain. By weight gain, it''s not so much the total as whether you put it on gradually or in stops and starts. The baby often goes through periods of putting on loads and then not so much for a while. I''ve been amazed not to have them yet as my mother and sister had them badly and I got them at puberty so I definitely have the family genes.

It is worth getting nice stuff to rub in though as your skin can end up really dry, flakey and sore. I use Vaseline Intensive Care Coco Butter Oil most of the time and then occasionally Agent Provocateur''s Ylang-Ylang massage oil which smells gorgeous but doesn''t last all day like the other stuff!

Courtney - If your back is still driving you nuts, can I suggest trying a body-sized tubi-grip. I had my first semi-pain free evening in over 3 months last night (and even managed to make half a chest-of-drawers). I took it off eventually and the pain was back within 5 minutes. I don''t know if you have tubi-grip in the USA - it''s a very tight tube of elasticated fabric that you roll on and double back on itself, normally they''re for wrists, ankles, knees etc
Thanks, Pandora! I didn''t realize they wre genetically linked. I have to ask my mom if she has them.... In any case, I think I will get a cream just to minimize any marks that may appear.

Congrats to NYC!! Those are such beautiful names!

Mandarine, adorable u/s pic! Can''t wait to see your bump!

NYC, congrats!!! Can''t wait to see pics of the twinks and hear your birth story!

Yay NYC!!! Congratulations!!! I wish the twins a speedy trip home!!

GAH!!! super huge gigantic congrats to nyc. and i ADORE your names!!! so classic and beautiful ....... and they fit together just .... well.... like twins ;) can't wait to hear your update and labor story!

i'm *considering* posting my first ever belly pic today... but don't know if i have the courage... (tee hee i'm a photographer by profession too;) i actually busted out a maternity top (gasp!) today.. but you wouldn't know by looking at it, it's just a black flowy tank, but all of my other clothes make me look chunky and not p.g. .. i still need to try and "hide" it for a few more weeks, then maybe i can go back to my other clothes and ppl will say "oh, she's p.g. not fat" ;) who knew this in-between stage would be so uncomfortable?? i just don't "feel" like myself. but my pants still fit! some with the help of a rubberband, but i'll take it!

in related me-centric news - when i first found out i was p.g. and got my physical the m/w noticed a lump in my breast that was later determined to be a cystic fibroadnoma (sp?) AND they noticed a small mass under the cyst (which is pretty big). they want to look at it again when i'm approx. 6 months along to see if it's grown - (i also have to schedule removal of the cyst after i've completed breastfeeding)... anyhoo, i've been noticing that the past couple of days i've had shooting pains around the area where the cyst is. i'm sure it's hormonal, as the cyst grows based on hormones, but in the veeerrrryyyyy back of my mind i'm thinking that the smaller mass is to blame and it's something bad. i have an email into my midwife/friend but it makes me feels better to get the worry off my chest in the meantime.

Thank you Robbie!!!

Wooohoo, looks like I will kick off BPF today!....with my 11 week semi bloat/pouch/bumpity!!

So here I am...and yes, I did gain 7 lbs
5.gif
...oh well, the Dr didn''t say anything (but to be honest I didn''t bring up either! lol). Did anyone else gain weight during the 1st trimester? I know it''s more for twins, but with m/s and all most people loose weight, not gain! hehe

mandarineweek11.JPG

uh mandarine, i don't see much of a belly and 7lbs is not much!! I gained an average of 1lb a week (yes even in first tri even though technically most don't). I started off petite (5'4, 120) and was 165 by the end of it! I don't know what happened. I'm back to normal now (with no exercise), and baby is petite too, so it's just how my pregnancy progressed! So at your stage I'd already gained 10lbs and people were guessing (at work..not cool).

you look great!!!! will you find out the sexes..eek, exciting! can't wait till you start buying baby things (and 2 of each)
emsmile.gif

PS I had no MS, so probably another reason I gained.

Thank you Janine!!!!!
I''m definitely going to find out the sexes!!!. The tech took a wild guess on Baby A yesterday, but it''s way too early to tell. I''m a planner so the more I can plan, the better!!! ;)

Mandarine, darling...get used to the weight gain!!! I gained most of my weight during the first trimester regardless of what people say is "normal". 7 lbs is nothing, especially on a smaller frame. You will probably gain more than most simply because you''re a smaller woman. Trust me, get over that worry now and you''ll have a happier pregnancy!!

Ditto. I had no MS at all except for a very bad evening with spaghetti
14.gif
I gained in the 1st trimester.

oh good
9.gif

I''m not really worried per say, just want to make sure I''m within "normal" ranges
2.gif

I already have come to term with the thought that I will gain a lot of weight..and that''s ok...I''m only going to be pregnant once most likely (we only wanted two babies!) and I know for the babies it''s good to gain weight so they get nice and chubby
21.gif

mandy-
i gained 4.5 lbs by 12w5d - and i''m just having one ;) from what i''ve read for singletons .. 5-7 lbs first tri. 1 lbs. week in second tri and .5 lbs. week in third tri. so it seems like you are on track for a singleton pg and not twinks ;) lucky you! go eat!!!! ;)

you are def within range. And that''s if you had only one! (or maybe I just ate for 3
emwink.gif
).

I actually liked gaining weight--it made me realize I really was preggo! Since I had no MS or symptoms, and baby was mellow (not now though), the belly was reassuring and it was fun to see my body change. It wasn''t till the last few weeks when it was getting crazy that I didn''t enjoy it so much! You''re supposed to stop gaining at 36wks, but not me! I had a lot of water retention at that stage though. Something for you ladies to look forward to, hehe.

And yes, chubby babies are the best!!! Chubby legs with folds!

Congrats NYC!!
36.gif

Congratulations, NYC!!!! Love the names you chose!!!!! Hope you and the babes are doing well!!!
36.gif

Mands - cute belly/bloat!
36.gif
I agree with the others, embrace the weight gain
2.gif
. I gained about 7lbs in the first tri too (with a singleton) and trust me, you''re going to get to the point in the 2nd tri where your HUNGER is so intense, and desperate, you won''t even ''care'' about gaining weight. Fun times!!

Belly Pic Friday! (and my last day at work!!!!)

Mela 35 weeks.

Mela34w6d.jpg

I lost weight in the first tri as my m/s was so bad, but then put weight on in the second and third - 45lbs so far, but I''m 5ft 10" and started out underweight so other than the belly and the boobs I don''t look like I gained any.

I haven''t eaten more than I normally do either - your body just uses food the way it wants I guess! Anyway, having seen Miss Daisy''s weight on Tuesday, I''m consoling myself that it''s her not me that''s the chubby one!

Great pics Mandarine - you should have a great album by the time you''ve done baking them!

Janine, I hear you on the water retention. I have never had puffy ankles like them and I had to stop wearing my rings this week...

Congratulations NYC! Welcome Jaqueline and Jonathon! I am sure they will be out of the NICU soon. Can''t wait to see pictures and hear your birth story!

Congrats NYC and welcome Jaqueline and Jonathan! I hope that they''re out of the NICU in no time and that you have a quick recovery. And their names are so classic.
And BrooklynGirl, thanks for letting us know!

Pandora- good to hear from you again! Daisy sounds like a little tank.
23.gif
But you''re right that it''s better to have the squishy parts large than the head and shoulders, or something like that. And that''s great about the placenta previa no longer being an issue. And you should be able to get your epidural guilt-free, regardless.
1.gif

Mandarine - cute pictures! And you look tiny, girl!

Mela - looking great! Yay for your last day of work.

Viszla - post a picture! I hope that the lump''s no big deal.

Congrats NYC! Can''t wait to see the pics of the babies!

I have to run, we have our big 20 week ultrasound today! I''m excited and touch nervous!!!

GL LittleL! Be sure to come back with lots of pics!!!!

Viz - Agreed. I hope your lump is nothing.

Keep us posted.

Awe, I think it''s starting to be a bump, Mandarine! I didn''t really have m/s during 1st tri so I ended up gaining 4 lbs. I was up to 20 lbs gained at my last appointment which was at 26w5d. I''ve noticed that my weight gain comes in spurts, so I wouldn''t be worried about a big gain for any given month. Plus, I think 7 lbs is probably right on for what you should gain for twins.

I''ve been feeling really crappy all week. My nephew was sick at Easter and it appears I caught his cold. Last night I was up every 2 hours because lying down made my head and throat hurt worse. Sleeping propped up with pillows wasn''t comfortable at all so I''m completely miserable today. My head was killing me this morning so I finally caved and took a tylenol (first one I''ve taken all pregnancy) and it does seem to have helped a bit. On the bright side, my favorite restaurant put my favorite soup on today''s menu specially for me. I''m going to go pick up a quart of it to take home with me after work. I don''t think I''m doing a belly pic today. I''m feeling too yucky. I''ll try to do one tomorrow. I should at least look a little nicer since it''s my nephew''s first communion and I''ll be dressed up.

Dang it, I just wrote a long post and it got eaten. Oh well! The main two things were CONGRATS NYC, can''t wait to see pictures, and Mandarine, your babies are soooooooooooooooo cute! So far mine just look like blobs.

Congrats NYC!!!!

Fingers crossed for a perfect u/s, Lysser!

mela and mandarine, you both have such cute bellies. mela, my belly's as big as yours is and I'm what, 7 weeks behind you? You look fabulous.

viz- I hope the lump is absolutely nothing to be worried about.

robbie- I hope you feel better soon! Just curious- what kind of soup are you having?
9.gif

Well, I passed the 1 hour GTT! What a relief. I'm also in serious nesting mode. I normally can't deal with clutter, but it's gotten so much worse. Most surfaces have to be clear or at least 'controlled.' My poor husband.

Ebree, it''s some kind of cream of cauliflower soup. If I remember correctly, there are pine nuts in it. I can''t remember what else because we haven''t been to this restaurant in 2 months and it was a valentine''s day special.

Thanks for the compliment Ebree! I''m feeling pretty good for 35 weeks

Also, I went through a huge nesting fit exactly like what you described. DH thought I was nuts. I''m about to start phase 2 of it. Next week is all about getting ready ALREADY! haha. I have a lot to do since I''ve done almost nothing thus far.

Courtney - I can't believe you're at the end!!! You seriously look so small! You look fantastic!

I have some very sad news to share. Our daughter Natalie Claire was born sleeping on Tuesday, 4/14 at 3:31pm. I had been have irregular contractions for the past two days and decreased fetal movement, so I went in Tuesday morning to be checked out. They told me that they could not find her heart beat and I was scheduled for a C-section 4 hours later. I was released from the hospital this morning. I have no words for our grief. She was absolutely beautiful, and weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20 inches long. We spent two days with her in our hospital room, holding her and loving her. I alternate between extreme grief and numbness. I feel very fortunate that a photographer came to the hospital and took pictures of us together, in the future I would like to post them too. We are having an autopsy done, and right now they do not know what happened to her. We do not know if it happened because of my Rh antibodies or not, but we hope to have an answer in the next few weeks. Both of our families have flown in to be with us, and we''re going to make burial arrangements this weekend. She was a beautiful baby and we both love her very much. I wish you ladies very, very happy and healthy pregnancies.

Lindsey - I am so very very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family in this very difficult time.

I am so, so sorry about your baby girl, Lindsey. You and your family are in my thoughts.
