Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Pandora - Daisy is beautiful! She looks so alert in her 5 day photo! I think James kept his eyes closed for like a week.

I am sorry that you had such a traumatic delivery. I also had a pretty bad episiotomy (4th degree) and PPH.

PREGGOS - please read Pandora''s post about post-delivery because it is so true - at least it was for me.

Mela - thinking of you......

Pandora, SO glad to hear you and Daisy are doing well!!! What an experience though! Wow. She is so stunning, really...one of the most beautiful babies I''ve ever seen and that''s saying a lot since I just had one.
9.gif
So, Daisy didn''t have any problems at all after birth re the meds? She looks perfect! And wow...a 10/10 score! Alila was 8/8.

Oh wow Pandora!!! You are a TROOPER!!!!!!!!!!!! What a birth story!!!. I am so sorry things didn''t go as planned and you had a difficult time. I wonder if it is true that you forget how bad it was in a few months and change your mind to say you''ll do it again!...hehe. Daisy is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!! What a gorgeous little girl!!!. Congratulations!!!

Robbie Your pictures are beautiful!!! I love them all!!

CDT I love your nursery! It''s very very cute and I love all the bright colors!!!!!!!

***

As for me, growing and growing!. I thought the goal the Dr had of 20 lbs by week 20 was ridiculous...well, looks like I''m right on track! haha...I''ll be 17 weeks in 2 days and I''ve gained like 17-18 lbs!
23.gif
scary, but now that I''m finally getting an actual bump I''m coming to terms with the whole weight gain thing. Makes me feel less akward and more ''pregnant''.

And since we''re in the topic of nursery''s, here is my color inspiration for the gummy bears!...

The idea is to have a modern/clean nursery...with white cribs and clean lines. Solid/abstract bedding with some cute art (probably from etsy)

Pandora, I have no words for what you went through, but holy lord are you strong! I''m pretty sure I would have a.) passed out from the pain multiple times (I do that) b.) started losing my shi!t sometime around say... hour three and c.) demanded a c-section after all that horribleness. You''re my new birth idol for SURE. Daisy is a beauty and I''m hoping things start working smoother for you and yours soon.

Hello All!

Sabine you look totally cute in your pics (okay, and I stalked the album Robbie had on FB- I''m a horrible person), I really want a diaper cake now!

I missed a lot...

Fiery: I totally want mangoes now. I''ve really been on a pitted fruit diet lately, loving all things peaches, plums and nectarines! I looove cold fruit!

CDT: Love the nursery! The frames pictures especially look so soothing to me, and makes me want to go to the beach!

Mandarine: Love your nursery inspiration pics! We''re starting to think more towards a turquoise wall, whether it''s a boy or a girl, possibly with lime green and dark brown accents. Is that unisex?

Everyone else I missed: Sorry!

14w1d (I''m FOURTEEN WEEKS! When did this happen??)

cdt- Two weeks? How exciting! Your nursery is perfect. It's relaxing and colorful and modern. I love it. (Do we have the same nursery furniture, btw? I can't remember. The crib and dresser look almost identical, but my dresser has wooden knobs.)

cello- I'm so sorry you had a crummy ER doc. I hope you're feeling better today! Good luck at your doctor appt.- let us know what she says!

Pandora- Thank you so much for the post-birth advice. I'm experiencing water retention like crazy. At my last doctor appt, I realized I'd gained 7 lbs in just two weeks, and I'm not eating any more than I did before I got pregnant (and was able to maintain my weight on). It's frustrating, but nice to know it's common. I'm glad to hear Daisy is sleeping such nice stretches, and that you're both doing well with feeding.

Mandarine- Love your inspiration pics!

Amber- I think turquoise, green and brown can work for a boy or a girl. Are you not finding out the sex?

Memorial Day for us was low key, which was good. I decided to abandon my weight worries for an afternoon and eat a huge combined lunch and dinner- a huge burger, tons of potato chips and roasted corn. It was so good for my belly, not so good for my swelling. I've got to keep my giant feet up for the rest of the day, but I'm also going to try to get some nursery stuff organized. I still have to order some cute artwork, so off to Etsy.

Ebree, we''re finding out the sex, but we''re trying to keep the room from looking overly feminine or overly masculine, not for any real reason, I grew up in a pink room with my brother growing up in a blue room (pink walls, pink blinds, red accents, same thing in blue for my bro) that I''d rather just make it tasteful and not too "much". I''m over thinking. :)

Pandora Your story brought tears to my eyes, I am so sorry you had such a difficult experience! Daisy is gorgeous, and I am so, so glad you all are doing well now. Thank you so much for posting your story.

cdt love the nursery pics, great job!

mandarine great color scheme, I can''t wait to see the finished product.

fiery I''ve been buying mangoes like crazy, love ''em!

Robbie and Sabine Great pic of you two.

Maternity pics... I am so torn, I guess it will depend on how I feel as I grow. As a photographer, I cannot imagine not capturing the memories, but as a body conscious female I''m not sure I''ll be up for it
9.gif

Ooohhh Pandora, your daughter is beautiful! Congratulations on her arrival and surviving your labor and delivery and recovery. Glad you and her have both made it home healthy and sound.

No wonder Daisy needed a bit of formula supplementation, I can''t imagine that anything requiring an ICU stay for her mother is the ideal for establishing breastfeeding... sounds hard enough under better circumstances!

Pandora your daughter is stunning and glad to hear she was worth all the trouble! Sounds like quite the party!

re: the breastfeeding. Ha...you should have been around when I had Amelia...I could have told you that you can feed and feed and feed and not be feeding the baby at all! I am in the small percentage of women whose milk never came in. And yet I still tried. Ladies, if I can give you ANY advice at all is to ask the lactation consultant about a SNS (supplemental nutrition system) and learn how to use it before the sh*t hits the fan and the baby just starts freaking out because s/he is starving. That way she gets the formula she needs and you don''t freak out that she has to be given a bottle. This way you''re still "breast" feeding and it also helps continue stimulation to bring in supply.

pandora - thanks for the after labor tips!!

Mela - hang in there!!! I''m sure you''re ready to pull your hair out!! But soon enough baby has to come
9.gif

Fiery - mangoes!!! LOVE THEM! but i''m allergic!!! how unfair is that??? I still eat them from time to time though, i just have to put up w/ itchy lips/mouth/face for a few days....so worth it though!

Ebree - my furniture is the Metro collection by Bonavita i think (or maybe it''s Bonaville)....i know it''s metro collection, the company is escaping me right now though.

Amber - i think those colors are neutral...that''s basically what we did
9.gif
and I would have done the same nursery whether it was a girl or boy.

Manadrine - love the ideas on your nursery. Love modern nurseries, but most of the modern stuff was just too expensive, so i did what i could on our budget
3.gif

Amber- I completely understand.
1.gif
I think blue, green and brown can be touched up with other details to make the room more sex-specific (if you'd like), but it's a fine unsex base, IMO.

Mandarine- Thanks for the links! I really like a lot of John W. Golden's stuff.

So I just had a thought, since I'm beyond frustrated looking for the perfect matching artwork. What if I purchased a few large pieces of blank canvas and covered each in a different, colorful (yet relaxing) vintage-y fabric for the HUGE blank wall I'm dealing with over the changing table? Ideally, all the fabrics would work together. Ugly/cheap/tacky or fabulous? Somewhere in between? Hmm.

I''m thinking something like this, though maybe not so many.

fabricpanels.jpg

Ebree~We did something similar in T''s room. I just bought blank canvases in different sizes and covered them in the left over fabric (my mom sewed her bumper, bed skirt and curtains). I think it turned out pretty cute.
3.gif
I say go for it!!

cdt~Your nursery is adorable. I love the stripes!

mela~Thinking of you!

Pandara-your daughter is beautiful..

CDT: I just noticed the lime green in your room! I''m excited to see that, I can show the husband what I''m talking about.

Pandora, your daughter is beautiful!!! I'm sorry that you had such a rough labor and delivery, but I'm glad that things are fine in the end! Thanks for all of the advice.
9.gif

Robbie, I just love your maternity pics! You look so cute!! I would definitely like to do something like that, but I would have to find someone not-to-expensive. I need to look into that.

Mela, you're still here?
3.gif
Wah! By the way, I missed out on the sex prediction, but I'll say girl!

Ctd, I love your nursery and Mandarine, I love your ideas! I can't wait to see everything come together.

CDT-Love, love, love the nursery girl! Beautiful!!

Ebree-I love that idea. I think it would look really beautiful.

We still don''t have a nursery although we did paint one wall. I wasn''t happy with the color FI picked out so I wanted to make sure it looked ok before we finished painting. It actually does look really cute although I wanted something more modern. The only thing that made him win the paint battle was that we plan on getting into a bigger place next year so I won''t get to enjoy this room too much. I may have to steal your stripes idea CDT. I really love it and am sending FI a picture. It seems easy enough to do on the one wall I''m thinking of.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh I totally forgot to tell you guys this!

Ok so I don''t have all of the details but the summary version I received is that my cousin, who recently gave birth to her second son, was feeling violently ill. She went to the hospital and it turns out that they left pieces of the placenta inside of her
23.gif
. Again, don''t know all of the details. I didn''t want to ask too much because she is still recovering (one month later) but that''s just nutso.

I think that''s a cute idea!!!!! Just make sure you really stretch out the fabric so it looks professional. My friend attemped this in her room and it looked kind of cheap because she had not done a good job stretching!

The other idea would be to get some cool looking paper and using mod podge over it to give it some texture....just a thought ;)

Congratulations, Pandora, on the birth of your beautiful baby girl

Pandora - Daisy is so beautiful! I had a traumatic birth with my third child and it is quite overwhelming. I am so sorry you had to go through such a rotten experience. It doesn''t help matters that you are having troubles with your milk. If it doesn''t happen, please don''t worry about it! Today''s formula works just fine and right now, you have a lot of healing to do an your body is likely focusing on that more so than milk production. Do what you need to do to minimize your stress and enjoy her! She is a doll.

Pandora, Daisy is just adorable! Thank you for posting all your suggestions and your story! What a trooper! Hope you continue to heal well and enjoy your time with your little angel!

cdt, I love your nursery! The colors are great!

Fiery, that''s crazy about your cousin!

Well, I''m back after a crazy weekend. My shower was so wonderful! I''ll try to post a few pics. I got a ton of great stuff, as well as some really awesome homemade gifts that I totally wasn''t expecting, including an adorable diaper cake, some crocheted stuffed animals, and an afghan that my aunt sent from NC. Of course, nothing that my mom is involved in can be drama free, so after the shower, she complained to me about how much she spent on it (and I gently reminded her that all I had really wanted was people hanging out eating snack food and that it was all her ideas that cost money, and let her know that it hurt my feelings for her to complain about it).

I also had a major breakdown before we left yesterday as I realized that this will be the last time we''re "home" for a long time since we''re moving farther away and dh''s schedule will be a lot worse as an intern starting in a few weeks. I realized that I won''t be in town for Robbie''s birth and our kids may not meet each other for a while, we won''t be in town for the holidays this year, etc. It was really overwhelming to leave knowing this.

Okay, on with the pics! The awesome diaper cake courtesy of 2 of my friends who came all the way from Hershey.

Robbie & Sabine- Love the pic of you two. So cute!

Pandora- Ok, well when I said "worst-case scenario" I guess you took me at my word. Wow is all I have to say.
23.gif
You are super-woman, I am so proud of you. I am so happy you and Daisy got the care that you did and that all turned out well. Your story and the pics of Daisy had me crying at my desk on my first day of a new job! Now I look like the crazy emotional preggo.
3.gif
She is just beautiful, and you and your DH are so cute. Congrats, momma!!! And THANK YOU for all of your tips and TMI. It really helps. Also, I just found out I am anemic, so thanks for the heads up on that.

CDT- LOVE your nursery. It looks fantastic!!!!

Mandarine- And I love your inspiration pics. My DH and I are looking at similar clean, modern looks. Love that stuff on Etsy, thanks for posting.

Ebree- Think that would look great. Sorry about the weight gain but I bet most of it is fluid and stuff. YAY for eating yesterday, that sounds YUMMY.

As for me, I''ve had a busy couple of days. When it rains, it pours, right?

I just started a new job today, which has been more overwhelming than I anticipated. It''s a good thing, but it''s still more stressful than I thought. My whole group left one firm for another, and the atmosphere at the old place was NOT good, but I still feel sad for those we left behind and am anxious about how it all works over here. It will be fine, but just a lot at once.

We spent a lot of time dealing with our new house this weekend, which was fun, but again, overwhelming! I am excited to just move and be able to make decisions. We started packing, which is never fun. Luckily DH is an organizational freak and likes to do things himself, plus me being preggo means he is doing most of it.
9.gif
We are redoing the hardwood floors before we move in, plus need to finish a part of the fence and paint. Then we have to furnish it. Fun but expensive!

We also did our labor class on Saturday. I am so glad we did it, it really helped give me a sense of everything and what goes on. Of course, then you hear Pandora''s story and go, well, you can never be prepared for THAT, but I did get a lot of good info. DH was pretty miserable. He ended up being the ONLY guy there, which I was surprised about. Plus they showed us lots of pics and videos and I thought he was going to die. He is weirdly squeamish about the delivery and would stay in the lobby wearing a fedora and passing out cigars if he could. I say weirdly b/c in all other aspects he''s super strong and capable, and is definitely an equal partner. It''s kinda funny. He did say there''s no way I will be able to do this without an epidural which kind of annoyed me.
29.gif
He''s probably right, but still, give me credit! I will post more about my thoughts on that, this is getting kind of long!

Sorry for the long post, haven''t been able to get onto PS all weekend, see what happens!!! Will post more later if my internet works at home.

robbie - your photos are gorgeous.

pandora - congrats on your beautiful daisy. holy cow she''s long. george was just 3/4" longer on fri at his 6 week appointment, which evidently put him in the 90th percentile. for 6 weeks. is daisy even on the charts!?
i''m so sorry to hear that you had such a rough birth experience, and that they''ve been so awful to you about supplementing. you''ve been through so much, both in the past week and all throughout your pregnancy, and i''m so impressed with how you''ve handled it. and the photos of you and your hubby with her just show so much love. enjoy her.
1.gif

cdt - very cute nursery!

mela - bake bake bake!! my childbirth class teacher recommended making plans for things after your due date, so that you have things to look forward to other than the baby coming. we rsvped ''yes'' for a party at 40w2d (and explained the situation to the host in advance), and i had massages scheduled for 40 weeks and 41 weeks... it might help mentally to make dinner reservations for just you and your husband at a nice restaurant for later this week, and then just hope that you don''t make it that long. i''m thinking of you.

Pandora- Wow! What an ordeal you had! DAISY IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! So glad you are both home safe now!

EBree- the fabric boards are exactly what i was planning for our nursery! Since the crib bedding is argyle, polka dot, and stripe, I was thinking about ordering an extra set to use for the boards. I love it!

CDT- your nursery is perfect! Those stripes are to die for!!!! Love it! Don''t trust myself or DH to be able to pull something like that off, or I would totally give it a shot. It looks fantastic!

Amber- we bought our crib bedding before we knew our baby is a girl, and it is lime green, light blue, and navy on white. I love it for boy OR girl. It''s just very preppy to me. We painted the walls a light brown (kind of a cappucino color), the crib and changing table will be espresso stain, and the rocking chair is white. I totally think you can do the colors you listed for a girl!

Mela- Tomorrow''s my birthday! I would love to share it with your little one!
2.gif

Robbie- Pics are so sweet! I don''t know how you''ll pick just a few. They really turned out nice.

Sabine- Yay for a great shower! Sounds like Robbie did a great job!

Gotta read through and catch up on more. We just got home from 5 days up north and I''m so behind!
