Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Last post, just forgot to include skeletor picture. My husband says I have to stop saying this, it hurts the kids feelings.

ETA: Happy birthday, Mara!

SkeletorBaby20wks.jpg

lol Kim...that is a super cute pic. and they DO look like Skeletor in the beginning!! the dr told us to wait to get the 3D until around 28+ weeks so that the baby has more fat on them and look cuter haha.

when we got one of our first US''s..maybe at 12 weeks they got us one of those ones where the baby is facing fwd looking at you so you can see the face bones and nose cavity, and that is about it, and it honestly is a little creepy. it''s greg''s favorite pic. that is the one i call Skeletor for ours, he put it on the fridge, hahaa.

I told John I want to blow it up and hang it on the front door for Halloween. I won''t have another ultrasound unless ordered by my M.D. so this was our chance to get pictures and the DVD.

So what''s your guess? I''ve got one for boy and about 20 for girl at this point, I''ll add you to the list.

i think boy... mostly because of what you wrote earlier. given my own BAD VISION during those US''s... its far easier to spot a penis than it is a vagina IMO and if your hub spotted it, it seemed like ''easier'' was the way to go, aka penis. (jeez did that make any sense)

but that US..i dont know, it kind of looks like a girlie little face. so hard to tell though at that stage BUT when we got our 12 week i remember thinking, surely that is a boy in there, the structure just looked more ''masculine'' to me than girl. i''ll stick with BOY though. i like being the oddball.

LOL! Oh little baby, he/she has quite a nickname. I think that little arm is cute!

And I am guessing boy for you, since you said your DH could see it before the tech even told him what it was. Isn''t it easier to tell when it''s a boy?

Congrats PG, welcome baby Claire. I can''t wait to see pics!!

Happy birthday Mara!! Sorry you have a cold.

Kim,
I think the US pic is very cute!!!

Agreed, this is exactly what I thought. You can''t really "point" to three white lines whitout explanation... but you CAN point to the projection coming from between the legs and is pretty much universally known, without much explanation.
37.gif

But then you said that he typed it on the screen as well, which makes me think that it might not have been so obvious... so, yeah, pointless. Sorry!

I dunno - you can get a little bit of umbilical cord easily confused with a penis. And a total lack of anything between the legs can be pretty darn obvious too...

I'm very happy today. Emailed the hospital admin to see if I've had my temporary privileges (because the committee that assigns privileges doesn't meet in the summer) extended to associate (which they have to do for your first year on staff, to be able to kick you out if you're total crap or don't get along with anyone) for a year. Found out they finally did that this month! So between that, and my boss seeming not too annoyed that I'm not working at all, I'm feeling more secure that I'll have a job to go back to. I don't _think_ they could just boot me to the curb, but I have no contract with anyone to work there as a physician. So this lets me breathe a sigh of relief.

Well, happy but for the fact that my DH is away on business this week, and one of the guys he works closely with there stayed home today with a fever. Now he's worried that I haven't gotten the H1N1 shot yet. It only rolled out to health care workers this week, and there isn't a non-adjuvanted version yet. Hopefully it's not the flu, and DH won't catch whatever it is and bring it home to me. Hope I can get the right vaccine next week.

Today I can see what you mean about the kid preferring one side of the uterus. I've got a bulge on the right coming and going. Occasionally felt a hard little knob (knee/shin/arm?) yesterday. I think this'll get more fun as she gets bigger. I'm loving the alien kicks (which sometimes I can see from the outside - so cool) these days too.

Cute ultrasound, Kimberly! I am going to say boy as well.

Happy Birthday Mara! I would wait on the H1N1 shot until after your birthday....it did make me feel kind of yucky yesterday. Not bad, but a little achy and tired.

happy birthday mara!!

great US pic kimberly! glad everything looks perfect on your little one.

OK, today is a MUCH better day. Milk is in! We had a doctor''s appointment this morning, and she had gained almost 2 ounces since yesterday, which is a big improvement. The doctor said that if I weren''t giving her anything she needed yesterday, 4 supplemental feedings wouldn''t have accounted for the 2 ounce increase. Then this morning the milk really started flowing. Yay milk! DH and I did talk yesterday and got on the same page; we gave her one supplemental feeding last night when she was inconsolable, but other than that we just tried our best and I pumped for extra stimulation.

I had a friend who was due 4 days before me who just delivered today. She was doing a home birth due to personal and religious preference (doesn''t believe in medical care), but her midwife said it was a no go and they had to go into the hospital and eventually she wound up with a C/S after a hard labor. I know very personally how hard that is, but it had to be even harder for her given her aversion to hospitals, etc. The good news is that mom and baby are ok. Apparently his head was literally too big to fit out of the birth canal. They came and visited us our second and third days in the hospital and her husband told DH it was helpful for her to see that I was ok after a C/S, so I''m glad that we could provide moral support like that (and am also glad she didn''t see me that first day . . . that might not have been so reassuring!).

One funny story from my hospital stay. We were anxious to be discharged yesterday and got delayed by Claire''s weight loss, so DH left to get the car to expedite things. Then the floor got locked down because a baby alarm went off (which happened really easily -- not that that is a bad thing, but somehow I set off the alarm just changing her diaper and then this nurse sternly told me that security was coming), so DH couldn''t come back up. We agreed to meet by the elevators.

So the volunteers came to wheel me down . . . the octagenarian volunteers. One of them immediately saw Claire and said, "Oh my, look at His Majesty. What''s his name?" Claire was wearing pink, by the way. Then I asked if they were going to hand me Claire once I was in the wheelchair, and they said no, I had to lift her. Maybe that''s because they''re volunteers and not because they were physically incapable of lifting her (although I suspect that was the case), but I just had a c-section people. So I had to pick up the carseat plus baby and get in.

One of them asked to verify my bracelet, but I had already taken it off, and he said it was fine, I looked like the baby''s mother. DH and I had to laugh about that later. What if they thought I weren''t her mother and tried to stop me? I''m pretty sure I could have outrun them, carseat in tow, despite having had a C/S three days before.

Then it was like Mr. Toad''s Wild Road. The feeble old man pushing me almost wheeled me into the wall about five times. One time a HEAVY METAL DOOR was swinging shut at us, and he apparently didn''t see it and just kept going for it, so I had to give it a karate punch to protect my baby and swing it back open. Then we got to the elevator lobby, and a whole team of doctors was getting off the elevator was a little baby in an incubator (
7.gif
), and my driver kept pushing me towards them so I was in their way as though he was incapable of turning me. I was so relieved when we finally found DH and Claire and I were safe.

DH and I keep referring to Claire as "His Majesty." It cracks me up every time I think about it.

Good lord, PG. That''s just insane, really. It''s like a bad comedy! Glad the milk came in!!

Everyone who loves Etsy: have you seen Regretsy?

Oh man, I am only a lurker and I just laughed out loud... that is too funny. Congratulations though!

Phoenix, yay milk! love "his majesty!"

Um, weird question...anyone having uncontrollable eye twitching? I''ve never had this before so perhaps a pregnancy thing? Nuchal scan tomorrow!

yay for the scan swimmer!! you should get some good pics!

lol PG that is the funniest story.

amber i LOVE regretsy!!! that is the most hilarious site.

Swimmer - I don''t think I''ve had it in pregnancy so far, but off and on over the last few years I''ve had one eyelid twitch incessantly. Then it would stop on its own again. Totally weird, and I think it maybe happened more when I was really tired. Never figured out what the cause was though. Can''t wait to see your pic tomorrow. It''ll be a magical ultrasound.

Funny how many on PS are guessing boy, totally opposite of everyone of my family, friends, and coworkers.

Drk, John said the same thing about the absence being as obvious as the presence of a penis, as I''d told him very specifically what to look for.

No eye twitching, but a leg cramp that woke me up out of a dead sleep last night, had to get out of bed and stomp my foot on the ground to get my leg to go straight.

Kimberly I am guessing boy. The absence of boy parts isn''t nearly as foolproof as seeing them IMO! If he knew what he was looking at my guess is boy!

Adding you to the boy camp, Zoe and Neat. We shall see, eventually!

Swimmer MEMEMEEE! I had the eye twitch, so annoying! It came and went.

3 days! omg. I think my superintendent thought I was winking at him yesterday during a union meeting! arrrrrrrhhhhh

His 70+ yr old sexy self. Oy, hopefully he can''t see that well. It is just the weirdest thing, not glad that you ladies had this, but psyched to not be alone in the land of weird eyelid twitching.

Ok, regretsy is kind of grossing me out lol.

Kimberly: I'm going to go "girl" for you, dunno why.

Morning all!

Mara: happy belated birthday! I hope you had a good time!

I'm just counting down the days over here. Our 2nd anniversary is Tuesday, with my 30th birthday the Thursday after that. Ahhh, I totally didn't even think of any of it. I was planning on going to Disneyland to get a "Baby's First Christmas" ornament to go with the rest of the ornaments we've collected from there over the last couple of years. Now I don't know.

This morning, when I wiped (sorry!) I saw bright red. I freaked out (yes, again), until I realized I probably just scratched/tore something, what with all the extra blood flowing there lately. Still what a shock first thing in the morning. I have my 36 week appointment tomorrow, getting my GBS swab (oh so fun), but do they do internals at 36 weeks? I'd kind of like to know where I am, but I'd also like to let things stay exactly as they are, if there is no progress. Does that make sense? Also, my boobs have been leaking like MAD lately. Not randomly, mostly when I sneeze, or am on my side with my boobs all squeezed together. My cousin told me a lot of people who "leak" go early. I guess I should ask my doc.

Still waiting for the etsy prints and wall decal, then I'll post some pics.

lol MP you want to be grossed out on regretsy...check out the ''mom childbirth pattern'' ... i think it''s called something like that? labor childbirth pattern maybe? it''s graphic and i can''t imagine someone making a lovely doll like that for me. LOL!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes gals..!! it was a really nice day (but busy at work!) ... team lunch, bday dinner, flowers from a special gal pal...Greg came home with some huge bouquet of roses and orchids, lots of calls and emails. It''s a little bittersweet to think this is our last birthday with just ''us''...but next year should be even more ''FUN'' with our new addition.

so the nugget must be giant now or something because i swear i feel him moving around on the bottom left AND top right sometimes at the same time. my back is starting to hurt a bit at night... lower back. and i am starting to wake up at night and needing to take a Tums because i feel like i have that burning heartburn throat thing going on at like 1am. as i slowly head into the 3rd tri...i guess this is all the super fun stuff i have to look fwd to!

on the awesome fun plus side, i really am still enjoying feeling him move around so much. he''s super active in general, i thnk he always has been but now i just feel him more. last nite it felt like he was playing the drums on the left bottom side of my belly... it was cracking me up. he''s probably like SOMEONE LET ME OUT!
3.gif

amber, sorry to hear about the leaking...! i am hoping i won''t have too much of that though sometimes i swear my boobs must be ready to pop off and start walking on their own.

kim... lol all the boy votes have to balance out girl! i still feel like penis is easier to see on those US scans than ''nothing'' in that area. and for me since i am US impaired, they had to point out the penis like 5 times before i saw it. so i am horrible at guessing.

does anyone else''s limbs fall asleep really easily now?? sometimes i get a weird leg twitch or it feels like what i call ''phantom leg'' where it''s restless but numb. and i wake up at night with both arms numb sometimes?!? very odd.

OMG that is just terrifying! I am seriously afraid of that doll...who would even want to make such a freakish thing?!

I haven''t had any limbs fall asleep (except once during sleep but I was laying on my hand lol), but I have been getting some pain in my right hip joint. It is not lovely!

Hi Amber,
Sorry you''re getting so many false alarms! Must be kind of nerve-wracking.

I had my GBS swab on Monday, at my 34 week appt. It was kind of like having a pap smear done - it didn''t hurt too much though. I think they can still do internals at 36 weeks.

Hope you have a good 2nd anniversary next week - it will be your last as a couple! DH and I also celebrated our 2nd anniversary this past Monday.

Amber, my dr. told me to call if there was any bleeding, if I were you I might just give a quick call to your dr. I think drs. have different perspectives on internals, my dr. did one at my 36 and 37 weeks appts, but I know all drs. don''t.

By the way, those internals showed absolutely no progress. Olivia seems perfectly content to stay put for a few more weeks. I am ok with that, I am still working and have a couple of deals I''d love to get wrapped up before she arrives so that I don''t have to worry about who''s taking care of them while I am out. They should be wrapped up in the next week or so, at which point I''ll start talking to her about getting her eviction notice. The good thing is I am so busy at work I don''t have a lot of time to stress about when she''s going to come, what labor will be like, etc.

Swimmer and Kim - Yay for ultrasounds! Great pic, Kim.
30.gif

Amber - If you''re having bleeding, I would get checked out if I were you. I don''t mean to be alarmist, but better safe than sorry.

I had my 31 weeks checkup today. I''m up to 24lbs!
23.gif
She did the first internal and the baby is head down. My cervix is closed but a bit soft... No more sex. Hmph
7.gif
. I don''t want to go early, so I guess I should listen.
