Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

thanks for the info on how long you were in the hospital with boys ladies. i imagined 2 days as well assuming no complications. that reminds me i have to log onto my hospital website and see if i can find out when their bf and childbirth classes are. i guess we should be doing that now and getting ejumacated.

meresal...oh i know don't you LOVE comments from people? i know there have been a few threads on this in FHH previously but still it is like people's brains fly out of their heads when they talk or ask about pregnancy. i mean how is it helpful to hear my hips will never be the same (two people have told me that) or that my boobs will sag to my waist (another one or two people have told me that fun tidbit). i mean i am under no illusions that i am going to turn into like cindy crawford after the kid is born, but hopefully with hard work which i am used to doing and eating right, that i can be back to mostly 'normal'.

blen...yeah the Poang chair is not like a real rocker or bouncer the way that most of the gliders or rockers i sat in at the stores...but we liked that it was comfy, it was modern looking and easily wipeable with the leather and could function in another room of the house afterwards, plus it was cheap. i know some people who paid like $500 for a rocker or glider and i just couldn't go that route mentally for a baby chair. esp since some mom's told me that their kids didn't even find it soothing to sit in the chair, kind of another one of those hit or miss things like bouncer, swing, etc.

the kid was super active last nite, hilarious really. greg was at rehearsal so i was sitting on the couch just watching my belly jump and shimmy, it's so fun. but after about 30 min i am like ok ready for some calming waves now hahaha. sometimes the belly skin feels a little like a kickball. this morning he seems like he's passed out or something from all his antics. hehe.

I just had to quote that cause even though it''s a typo, that''s hilarious - your baby will be boring later!

So far no one has told me about how my body will be revolting afterward, but I wasn''t thin to begin with, so maybe that is why. Thank God, though, because I tend to just respond without thinking and I''d probably say something offensive lol.

OMG that is what i get for typing while on a conf call. Freudian slip? No the kid will be anything but BORING. In fact now that I wrote that he will probably be a hellion. Karma..HAHA.

meresal - sorry to hear you had a rough day yesterday. i did too, so i know how that goes. sigh. i attributing it to crazy hormones?! also, didn''t you mention your hips hurting while sleeping? mine have been doing that too. it''s sucky. especially since pre-pregnancy i slept on my sides very often. so, it''s not like it''s a new position for my body.

Yep, still here!

Re: hips hurting in the morning/during the night. I got a body pillow early on. For some reason, having my leg slung over it really alleviated the hip pains, since I''ve always been a side sleeper, too. I don''t know if it''s really hips spreading or just the weight from having your previously small uterus pressing on all the good stuff in there. Definitely try to get a pillow to put between your legs, it really helps. Doesn''t even need to be a body pillow!

i have a body pillow. oddly enough when i first started feeling the hip discomfort, it was when i was on the body pillow side. now i have it on the other hip side too.

Jcrow, that''s interesting! I found they hurt when the pillow would fall on the floor during one of my sleep spazzes, and I hadn''t used it. I also found it''s a little easier for me to sleep (not as much now as when I was smaller) slightly leaning forward onto my belly, instead of completely on my side with both legs parallel to each other, with the top leg touching the mattress and the bottom leg slightly behind it.

I think I was lucky, I really had no problems sleeping, aside from a few crappy nights (from heartburn or pulling belly muscles).

Snoogle pillows are great for sleeping discomfort!!. I didn't like the body pillow b/c it lacked shape. But my snoogle was a "must have" item for my pregnancy. It kinda just molds around you and it isn't very bulky (pictures make it look bulkier than it really is, esp after it gets used a few times) My aunt got mine on ebay.

ETA: i am a back sleeper and would find myself awake in the AM on my back, despite trying to go on my side. So i eventually gave up and found a semi-solution. I would make my snoogle into a long donut shape and set my butt into it so that part of the pillow elevated my torso a bit and the other part of the "O" would elevate my thighs. This took the pressure off the belly and uterus (therefore improving circulation, and not putting pressure on this area which is the concern with back sleeping) worked well and i slept way better.

Hey, girls....haven''t been around here much b/c I''m getting my house ready for Thanksgiving since I''m hosting 30+ people
6.gif
. But just wanted to see updates and I see Amber is still around, good luck...hopefully your sweet girl will make an appearance soon! Oh and Jas, thank you for posting the pillow. I am a back sleeper too and I seem to wake up every 30 mins. or so and find I''m back on my back, so it really makes it hard to have a good night''s sleep. Hope everyone is doing well and having a great week!

thanks, i may try that!

what''s funny is that i was always a side/tummy sleeper. now that i''m pregnant it''s like my body wants to sleep on it''s back! grrr. also, i was always good sleeper. totally in the zone until the alarm went off. now, different story! i''m like the lightest sleeper ever. and i wake up every few hours. preparing for baby much?

Poang and nursing chairs I didn''t find it worked to nurse in the early days because you are really leaning back in it and it meant baby had to suck against gravity! Also, I needed padded arms to lean against. Also, I injured my tailbone and for about 4 months I could not actually sit in the Poang at all. Now it is a very comfotable nursing chair though. The BEST thing I bought was a LaZBoy rocker recliner. I can sleep in in nursing at night, which is a must when you do 2-3 night nursings for 9 months
20.gif
, and it was comfortable for my tailbone and other sore areas. Although it is possible that you will not have any pain from labour afterwards, if your baby is larger or malpositioned as mine was (forehead presentation for much of the labour), you can be quite injured from the whole process! No tearing, thank God, but I think my tailbone was slightly fractured based on the pain and how long it took to heal, and my whole lower back was pretty f*d up for about 4 months too! haha... not to scare you or anything, but *padding* and *super comfy* may be a top priority!

Still, I am wishing everyone a 7lb baby with a perfect birthing position and a small head

I don't know where you are putting your pillows, but I found that having one under my belly supportnig it when I was on my side was really important to avoid back/hip pain. And one between the knees. At the end there is no real way to avoid some discomfort though
5.gif
ETA I also slept like Amber describes.

I had a similar issue as Dreamer...injured tailbone after labor. And I COULD not sit!! Well I had to, but it was sooooooooooooooo freakin painful. The only chair I could sit in for any length of time was our glider. I didn''t BF, but I still use it a LOT to bottle feed. It was the best thing we bought

We have this one. We also bought the ottoman.

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3012721

We put it on our registry, so after we returned a bunch of duplicates we received from our shower and w/ the discount we ended up only really paying for the ottoman out of our pocket.

LOL me too!

jcrow, I was the same way - I slept almost strictly on my left side, without waking up until my alarm went off. Now? I fall asleep on my left side, wake up on either my back or my right (all wadded up), and I wake up at least once an hour. Thankfully, I can go back to sleep easily, but it''s SO annoying!

lol that is the funniest pillow! i am a side sleeper as well and thankfully i am fine sleeping at night most nights. my hips would hurt when they were growing and/or when i was having the muscle stretching pains (round ligament i think)...but other than that i sleep very well. i do wake up like 3x a night to pee, but i am like a zombie so it doesn't affect me most of the time. i also notice that i just flip from side to side at night since i can only sleep on my side. i feel like a mini beached whale trying to move gracefully without shaking the bed too...and then if i move i find i might have to pee.

greg keeps asking when i will need to get a crazy pregnancy pillow and i am like hopefully NOT at all! i don't want to have to store that thing afterwards, i would never use it again. i might just have him prop me up if i need it with regular pillows towards the end.

re: nursing also...our house is small and one story so i figure i will be nursing a lot on the couch too, it's super comfy and it has two chaise lounges on each end so i can prop myself up in a corner and still be somewhat spread out. it is literally like 8 steps from the nursery to the couch hahaa. we have a small CA bungalow, and i am grateful now that it's so small, it will come in handy when i am a zombie at night. i just wish the payment was small too.

I have a Snoogle - it''s great!

Hey guys - I had another appointment today. Saw someone different in follow-up. Cervix down to about 5cm from 5.8cm - they''re not concerned (and I''m not sure she measured the whole length properly, so it might be slightly longer). Kiddo is 705g, only 28th percentile. But aced her BPP (biophysical profile - looks at tone, movement, breathing practice, amniotic fluid level) at 8/8. Started out sitting cross-legged on my cervix, then had feet and hands above her head again shortly thereafter. She''s an acrobat!
This doctor said he thought I might be able to go back to work, but should definitely increase my activity level at home for the next 2 weeks, then if all''s good, I''ll start back to work part-time in 2.5 weeks. Yay! He also signed off my disability paperwork, so I might even see some money from that. I thought I had to be totally off work before it''d kick in, but apparently if my income is reduced 20%, the elimination period starts ticking and then I''m eligible for a proportion of the disability payment based on how much income I''ve lost. That''s good news! Won''t make up for what I didn''t earn, but it''s better than a kick in the teeth.

Yay! That all sounds like good news, drk! Here''s my fingers crossed that you are doing well enough to return to work in 2 weeks.

And LOL @ both her hands and feet over her head, I wish I was that flexible hehe.

DRK, great news!

Pillows: I use a body pillow, but I've always slept w/ a pillow between my knees so I'm used to it. My mom bought me the body pillow, otherwise I would have opted for the one jas posted.

Commentary: Most of mine has been positive (my mom made a few "you're going to be huge" comments in the beginning but that's stopped). Today two of my co-workers said I'm cute, that was nice to hear.

I do wish I'd never shared baby names as she and my dad are both on a tangent about the girl name we've picked and I wish it would stop.

Great news, drk!

I met with my new boss today and picked up my first two cases. I am nervous!

Great news drk. Some money recovered is better than none, for sure.

Pregnancy Pillow and Sleeping
I used the Boppy one (since SIL got it for me when I was pregnant with M) and a second pillow underneath my belly. I am a back sleeper. The second pillow let me roll onto my back, and still feel comfortable since the back is propped up. I really don’t have problems sleeping; I don’t need wake up to go pee. So I guess I am pretty lucky. I only wake up when I hear M on the monitor.

Body not being the same after
My weights came off solely from breastfeeding. No working out. I was actually under my pre-pregnancy weight since 8 weeks postpartum until I got pregnant again. My hips didn''t spread too much, but I had wide hips to begin with. My stomach did have excess/loose skin afterward. Not sure if there''s much that I can do with that, or if the skin will disapper or tighten once I start working out. I got pregnant 9 months postpartum, so I never found out. I will after this baby. LOL. But that wasn''t obvious under clothes, so to everyone else, I look pretty good.

1 Hr Glucose Screening
Remind me, how long did it take you to get the result? I took it last Friday. Should they have gotten the result already? I haven''t gotten a call from the dr. office yet, but I am hoping that means I passed.

QT my hospital has online blood test results so it notifies me when stuff is done and I log on to check it. My test was done the next morning (less than 24 hours later). So I would imagine yours should be done? Maybe they haven''t called because it''s fine?

QT - I''m so jealous you don''t wake up. I wake up every 1.5-2 hours, unsure if I need to pee, or if it''s my uterus tightening, or if I''m just getting uncomfortable or what. I''ll have to start going to bed at 9pm when I start back to work (and have to get up at 6am again). Yuck!

QT, I had my screening last Monday and hadn''t heard anything by this Monday, so I just gave them a call for the results and she called me right back to say it was fine. I don''t know if they would have called me to tell me it was okay, or just told me at my next visit, but I bet they would have called you if you failed it. I would probably just give them a call today to see.

Lol so one of my girlfriends finally posted the pictures of my "pumpkin" belly from Halloween. That drawing my husband did looks like my baby did it, it''s hilariously bad!

LOL....that''s hilarious.
So did your hubby drew that while you are wearing the t-shirt?
I like where the placement of the horns

QT--
Agreed w/ others about the glucose test.
You should have the results w/in 2 days unless there is a backlog of bloodwork.
Anyway, no call from my dr means good news regarding the glucose test.

LOL yes I was still wearing it. He drew it after having enough drinks to get a little touchy-feely in front of our friends, and they all got a serious giggle out of the horns, too lol. I thought my girlfriends were going to pee themselves laughing, hehe.

Too funny MP!

cute pic MP.
