Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

You are cute MP! Luff the shirt!

Ah, no labor for me. Just working and sleeping and brief bouts of panicking and cravings (eggnog? WTH?). Watching Glee and The Office and savoring sleeping 6 hours straight a night. Still working, will work until the day I go into the hospital, most likely.

This is my last Thursday without a baby, my last Thursday at work in 2009. Holy crap.

MonkeyPie, that shirt is hilarious!

DARN Amber I was so sure.

Eggnog sounds great.

Lol so one of my girlfriends finally posted the pictures of my ''pumpkin'' belly from Halloween. That drawing my husband did looks like my baby did it, it''s hilariously bad!
No it''s soooo cute!!!

Mara, I know it has been strangely quiet this week. I have been trying to get my house prepared for the 30 or so people we''re hosting for Thanksgiving....I have no idea how it got designated to be at my house when I will be 31 weeks pregnant. I''ll be back tomorrow with a belly pic. 30 weeks, woohoo!

MP, that shirt is so cute!

Amber, labor dust to you and glad you are still getting some rest. I am already waking up every 30 minutes or so, not fun!

Jcrow- I''m so sorry that I missed your post about hips pains when sleeping. Mine has currently gone away... but then again, so have the sharp pains in my hips during the day. I think that mine has to be in direct correlation with how things are moving around in there.

I am still not showing on the outside, so that means that there is pretty much a bubble being blown up inside my stomach, but everything else has no where to go.

It seems to be coming in spurts. I''ve been sleeping better since Monday/Tuesday, so hopefully this will last a little while.

I haven''t tried any special pillow tehniques, but I did get a massage this past weekend, that really feels like it losened things up in my lower back and hips. Would your husband be willing to just give you a light massage in your lower back before you fall asleep?

Also, the woman that did my massage recommended sitting on an excercise ball as opposed to slouching in the couch. She said it will help your hips to open up if they want, as opposed to pushing together when you plop onto a couch.

Just some ideas...

MP, I love your shirt! Way too cute!

Amber, I''m still sending wishes for a quick and easy labor for you (without having to be induced!).

I don''t have much to say about my pregnancy because it''s quite boring at this point. I''m somewhere around 30/31 weeks and feel pretty good, just tired sometimes. I am astounded that I probably only have 10 weeks or so left of being pregnant. In the first trimester, it seemed like 12 weeks would NEVER arrive.

My midwife said she wants me 100% prepared for our homebirth by January 7. I don''t know how this is going to happen with the holidays -- it''s almost Thanksgiving and I haven''t done anything as far as Christmas cards and putting the tree up. Luckily, two of the kids want new cell phones for Christmas, so that makes the shopping a bit easier. I''m doing everything else online.

I also have NOTHING prepared for the baby. I kept all of my son''s clothing -- some even still have tags on -- so SO just has to get them from our farmhouse, but he hasn''t so far, so I haven''t washed them obviously. I did buy a few blankets and onesies, but I need to get some diapers.

Tomorrow I do the GD test, which thankfully isn''t so bad, thanks to my mw. Instead of doing the glucola and blood draw, she has me eat a pancake breakfast from McDonald''s and then sticks my finger. It''s still not totally pleasant because I never eat that amount of carbs and sugar, but glucola makes me vomit, so it''s an improvement.

Not much happening on the preggo front for me either, I have to say! DH and I are really busy with the house hunting (we''re putting in an offer in the next few days) and trying to get the apartment straightened out for the arrival of baby. We just don''t have enough room! We''re going to have to go shopping soon for a changing table and other stuff we didn''t get at the shower, and I just don''t know how we''re going to fit everything in. I hate apartment living...

meresal - re: hips... good to know! and i''m totally jealous that your not showing. i''m already thinking gee, how can i possibly get any bigger. so far, it''s all in my belly. i pray that it stays that way.

amber - thanks for mentioning that you don''t sleep with your hips parallel. i''ve been focusing on sleeping with my hips at an angle and that''s helped a ton. it wasn''t that my hips were painful, but annoying.

I start off the belly pics! 30 weeks...woohoo! Only 8 weeks left to go! Everyone have a great Friday and weekend

Eta: Sorry about all the fingerprint smudges on the mirror....just cleaned it 2 days ago, that's what life with a 5 year old boy brings!

Steph- My Goodness, You look incdredible!! 30 weeks

Jcrow- I meant to add to my post last night, that the woman that did my massage was a Midwife and has 5 children. So I really listened to what she had to say. It wasn''t just the woman down the road and Massage Envy.

Steph, you look fantastic. 8 weeks is going to fly by.

RPS, I''m a few months behind you but have done next to nothing to get ready for this kid, and I don''t have stuff left over from others. I''m having one shower in Jan. and perhaps another in Feb. and I don''t want to shop until those have happened. Plus we have a pending move (w/ no date) and I''m not putting a nursery together in this house, so if we''re still here when the kid is born the pack''n''play will likely be her home for a bit. My husband is determined we''re moving before she comes, so we''ll see how that works out.

Now that we know it''s a girl I''ve been leaning towards more femine bedding (not buying it yet, but my parents are dying to do so). I''m leaning towards this set: http://www.albeebaby.com/cocalo-sundae-6-piece-baby-crib-bedding-set.html I like that it''s feminine without being pink and purple and I love quilts and it has a quilt-ish look to it.

I take pictures on Sunday, I''ll try to remember to take on in normal clothes and post. According to some friends I saw last night I don''t pregnant. I hear that a lot.

Thanksgiving we''re going out to an early dinner than up to my parents where we''ll celebarate w/ family on Friday. My district is closed all next week, but I''ve started my new job so I''ll be working on that a bit.

Rock - I found that preparing for the birth seemed much more overwhelming than it really was. Does she want you to order a birth kit online? Do it now; that should only take about 5 minutes and then you don''t have to think about it anymore. If your list is anything like mine, you should have a lot of the other things around your house: a bunch of towels, a large bowl for the placenta, olive oil, extra set of bed linens, large pot with lid for herbal bath if she''s having you do that, hydrogen peroxide, carb-y type food. Figure out what you don''t have and add it to your shopping list, and just get it sometime in the next few weeks when you''re going to be at the store anyway. You can order diapers online, or (assuming you''re using disposables) you can pick those up the next time you''re at the grocery store. I feel like that was one of those things where the hardest part was just starting - good luck!!

MonkeyPie - that''s hilarious!!

Hips- ditto exercise ball and massages... they''re lifesavers.

Mer & Kimberly, thanks!

Kimberly, my friend just ordered very similar bedding from the same company (although I think it was their Cocoa Couture line or something like that), but it had yellows and reds and looked GREAT in her baby''s room.

Kimberly, I love that bedding set - really pretty.

Steph - I think you''re my belly twin but 5 weeks ahead. I measured my fundal height yesterday for curiosity (knowing she''s fine, but only 28th percentile on the scan the day before), and I only measured 20cm (or 20 weeks). I''ve even got mirror smudges for everyone to ignore too! I think you look great!

Anchor - Personally, I''m not going to waste money on a change table. I want primarily stuff that will grow with the kid. She''ll get a crib (possibly from a consignment store if we see something we like), and I''ll get some fancy foam pad to put on top of one of our old Ikea dressers. Otherwise, I think we''ll try to find a waterproof blanket that we can use for changes elsewhere in the house if we need to. Though since we''re going to do a cloth diaper service, most changes will happen in her bedroom, just cause we''ll keep the diaper pail in there.

Not much else new here. Kid was beating on my cervix and vaginal for most of yesterday evening. I hope she''s in a different position today! Here''s my 25w pic from today. Sorry for the dirty mirror...

25w pics.JPG

DRK & stef--okay, i am not joking. My belly is the same size at 11 weeks
6.gif
I''d like to blame it on bloating or being a second baby...but who am I kidding, it''s probably just fat
41.gif

I had a big round ''ol belly by 25-30 weeks !
Do either of you wish you had a more prominent belly? I ask cuz a friend of mine who didn''t really show till her last 2 months felt cheated of her belly & so wanted one to rub and for ppl to comment on. I was envious of her tiny-ness, she was just mad. We are never happy are we?
5.gif

Amber--hope things happen soon. rest up.

Blen, did you have a homebirth? If so, that''s awesome! I hardly ever run into other women that go this route. I can''t recommend it highly enough to other low-risk moms and it makes me sad that some women can''t believe they could do it.

My mw doesn''t make us order a birth kit online, luckily. Everything on the list is stuff we can pick up just like you said. I already have a bunch of the stuff here and have picked up a few things as we''ve been shopping so it''s not so bad. Plus, there''s a lot of stuff that I bought the last time that we simply didn''t use, so I won''t bother with those things again.

I passed my GD test and my hemoglobin is fine.
36.gif
I figured that would be the case, but am happy it''s over.

This would be the time that I''d normally have to go to visits every 2 weeks, but I get to skate a little and do 3 weeks until January because of the holiday season. If I had any reason to believe I needed to be in there, I would.

If anyone needs to borrow some belly because they think theirs isn''t big enough, I''ve got plenty to go around and am willing to share!
9.gif

DRK, you look great. I have a doc. appt. on Monday and can't wait to see what my belly is measuring.

Jas, I totally felt huge the first 10 weeks or so due to bloating. I couldn't fit in my regular pants by like 6 or 7 weeks I think. I had also gained 10 pounds before my first appointment! Since then, I have gained 10 more, so I AM gaining weight, just not in the belly. Yes, I wish my belly was rounder and that I looked obviously pregnant. I have only had a few people ask me and they just said they noticed I was rubbing my belly. I just feel chunky and not really pregnant looking.

RPS, great on passing your glucose test
36.gif

lol jas re the grass being greener, i totally agree. i know a few small gals who were bummed that they didn't get big til the very end and didn't have the 'full' belly experience. for me, my own belly is still extremely manageable i guess given how large some other gals are at 7.5 months, it still feels huge...and sometimes i wish it was smaller. but on the other hand it is more fun to have the bigger belly because the uterus is thinner and you can feel him more easily now. way more fun than when it was super thick and everything was so incredibly muted.

jcrow and mere...i also posted this previously but i had intermittent hip pains up to about 22 weeks, it is probably round ligament pains as your body accommodates the growing uterus inside you. now i don't really have any thank goodness. and they only lasted a few days at a time but it was uncomfortable.

i signed us up for late pregnancy class, bf'ing and newborn class yesterday, all spread out through dec and first week of jan. kaiser's LP class talks about things like drug options, process for labor/delivery, how long you are in hospital, post partum info etc. it's 2 hours. there is an 8 hour session in conjunction with a local community college for $80 that is 'prep for childbirth' but honestly i don't know that i need it if we are taking this other class. and i don't really want to sit through 8 hours on a sat for that stuff. people who have taken it told me they got relaxation techniques, a lot of open discussion and a fair amt of how to care for the baby when you go home. since we are also taking the newborn class (aka how to prepare for baby and afterwards caring)...i think we are covered. anyone taken both options or know differently? i just am not a huge class person for the 'sake of taking a class'. i just want the basic data...and also for greg to have basic data on things like what to expect for childbirth, etc.

i am up 29 lbs and turning 30 weeks on sunday. so about 1 lb per week weight gain. it's mostly in my belly (i can still wear my pre-preggo underwear!), but MAN i am carrying almost 30 extra lbs. that is CRAZY. also yesterday i was walking in these flats but the tiny (as in like miniscule) heel was rounded on the edge and i slipped fwd on a slippery floor and my body went one way but my right leg tried to stay in place. i have a partially torn ACL from a previous skiing accident and in the past when something happens to re-injure it (last time it was volleyball and someone hit my knee causing it to go out), it can take a few weeks to heal, and the first 3-4 days are on bed rest with elevated leg basically. THANK GOD for whatever reason it was not that bad this time, I think my jeans kept it kind of from going too far (imagine your knee cap moving totally one way and your body going anothre, NOT fun), but it was sore all the rest of the day and last nite. It feels better today, I can bend it at least, but man, I was thinking please no bed rest!

but it just solidified (a) how blobby my body feels and (b) that my muscles must be like jelly from that hormone that your body secretes to help your body accommodate the growing uterus muscle. i think it might have been worse if i had not had that hormone making my muscles more relaxed. YIKES. oh and did i mention early this week that i had a sprained feeling muscle under my rib from rolling out PIE DOUGH? obviously i need to take it easier. i am getting all paranoid given i am super clumsy and prone to hurting myself anyway, but now that i am in my last 10 weeks... i better be really careful.

sorry this is so long. the photos look fabulous ladies...!! i won't post this week since i posted last week and not much seems diff. hope everyone is gearing up for an awesome thanksgiving... i am taking a day or two off next week to enjoy it with greg as he has corporate shut down. lucky boy!

kimi i love the bedding! cocalo has some really cute sets. i am just piecemealing since i didn't want our room to be too themed.

re :changing table, i agree to not bother if you don't have to. i'd rather get the kid a dresser they will be using for at least 5-7 years, and then slap a changing pad on top of it. the changing table just becomes obsolete in a few years anyway. also so many moms told me they didnt even use theirs, they just plopped the kid on the floor and changed them wherever they were.

Hi everyone!

I am STILL here.

My last belly pic (well, I''ll take one on Sunday to mark the 40 weeks I''ll be). It''s hard to believe it''s over. I had such a great pregnancy (as you can tell, since the occupant is hesitant to vacate the premises), that it''s hard to believe it''s the end.

39week5dayaw.jpg

Mara, I might be in the minority here, but I just feel like childbirth class is sort of a waste. I mean, women do this everyday, our bodies were designed for this. I am so glad I didn''t take it since I ended up with a c-section anyway. I think the BFing class and the newborn class is a lot more helpful.

Amber, you look great! She has dropped a lot! More labor dust!

Amber-I''m so excited for you! What a wonderful Thanksgiving gift (and the food you get to eat after 2 days in the hospital I''m sure will be very appreciated lol!). Can''t wait to "meet" her!! You look great.

Amber - looking good! Hope all goes well - you''ve waited long enough for this kid!

Steph and drk you both look fantastic....to the point where I don't even want to post my pic!!
3.gif

Amber~YAY For last BPF for you!!! You look good!

I did a side-by-side of my pic from today with my 28 week pic from when I was preggo with T. Look pretty much the same, but I've actually gained less weight this pregnancy. Weird. I'll be 28 weeks Sunday and I'm up just over 20 lbs.

burkbelly27wk.jpg

Burk, you look great! I think your tummy actually looks smaller this time, but it also looks a lot lower. You look fab both times though.

BURK you look fabulous so no disparaging comments, you look GREAT. I am way bigger at 30 weeks! And I agree you look lower and a bit more compact than with T.

Amber YAY for the last pic...you have definitely dropped. Do you think you''ll be home in time for Tgiving??? I hope someone is planning to feed you guys!

Thanks Steph and Mara! I''m carrying him much lower. Annoying because I can fit into all my pre-preggo pants and just use the bella band, but it''s so darn uncomfortable and I feel like my pants are going to fall off. When I was preggo with T that''s all I wore. Seriously didn''t buy mat jeans and only owned 2 pairs of dress pants....now I''m having to shop (at nearly 28 weeks)!
