Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

tacori, the girls are very excited. they love to see my belly getting bigger and Lily wanted to start buying baby things for the new baby when we were at target yesterday. They are still both really wanting it to be a girl though. I keep trying to remind them that we''ll find out in a just a few weeks but there is a good chance that the baby will be a boy. I''m surprised at how many of our family and friends think this baby is a girl despite us already having two. Only 5 more weeks until I find out though and I can''t wait. I think it will be good b/c then we can prepare the girls if it really is a boy. I might need a little preparing myself although we''ll be thrilled with whatever it is. How are you feeling today?

Tacori, that''s so funny about kids loving to sleep with their mom. My nieces rejoiced every time their dad had to go out of town because that means that they get to sleep with their mom. My sister didn''t like it too much though since they are such playful sleepers; well, at least the younger one. She''d be kicking her mom and poking her butt in her face in the middle of the night.
9.gif
Sure, they''d had a good night sleep, but their mom would wake up with bags under her eyes. I am a heavy sleeper, so I didn''t mind too much when they come in to cuddle with me in the morning when I was living with them. Of course it wasn''t fun when they''d let in the cold air during those winter mornings
9.gif

MrsS. That''s great that your girls are excited about the baby. I remember when my younger niece was 4, she didn''t want her mom to have another baby because she wanted to be the baby of the family. When she turned 7, she changed her mind and was ready to have a baby sitter. The older one, however, wanted a baby brother instead because she told her mom that this little sister she has didn''t turn out the way she wanted
9.gif
. By this time, my sister said that she''s too old to be having another kid anyway, so they''ll just have play with their baby cousin. Anyway, how exciting that you''ll be able to find out what you''ll be having in a month. I still don''t know if I want to find out or be surprised. DH wanted to know so that he can prep for it.

MrsS, I am feeling HUGE as always!
5.gif
I always wanted to go early but now I am starting to get slightly freaked out so maybe the longer the better. It is starting to feel so real now that I am 37 weeks. I got a full term baby in me. I was teasing my mom I will be preggo longer than she ever was (my sister was 15 days early and her closest to full term baby) so I still have another week to go. She had a blocked uterus though which pervented us getting too big and they think is why she always went into early labor. She also had a blocked tube so it is a miracle she had three healthy kids. She didn''t know about any of her problems until she had a c-sec with my brother (her last child).

My hips are starting to bother me too. I read that they get really loose to prepare for labor. Hope I don''t pull a muscle!

Every baby has the same 50% chance of being one sex over the other. I saw that show on TLC where the family had like 16 kids and only one of them was a girl
23.gif
The woman said she thought she misheard them when they said it was a girl (she was born somewhere in the middle of the pack). I actually know quite a few families that have four kids all the same gender. So you never know. I hope it is whatever you want. Though I know in the end you and your DH (and even girls) will be ok with either. I loved having a younger brother (I have an older sister). Ha, and it was always us against her. We were so evil!

Lili, not knowing IS a hard wait (just a warning). I don''t know how I stayed strong through it all. We had two different u/s where we could have found out but we decided not to. Luckily my DH was okay with finding out or not. He left it up to me. I will tell you people act so impressed and surprised when they find out we don''t know. It''s funny. My dad was the only one that really wanted to know. He said we had to know in order to buy stuff. Silly. Besides the clothes there is nothing I would have bought differently had we known. Naming would be easier though. We probably will find out with our next child.

My mom would complain about me sneaking in their bed in the early morning but like I said she was sad when I stopped. I think I was the only one out of the three of us that did that regularly. I actually mentioned it today and she said she missed us little. Our families are all counting down the days til we meet the baby. I can''t wait to see what it looks like. (DH and I don''t look alike like some couples). Plus I am so glad my mom is coming for a week. Both DH and I wish she would stay longer. Oh well. I don''t think my MIL can get the time off to come before thanksgiving. I guess DH and I will learn on our own!
23.gif
Luckily he works from home (when he is not on a job site) so he will be a good support if I am overwhelmed.

Hope all the other mommies are doing well. Njc, hope you can check in soon.

Hi everyone!

Tacori and MrsS, all that talk of cuddling in bed with parents (moms in particular) brought back some nice memories! I tend to lose patience with my Mom so easily now that it's nice to think about good memories like that. (Not that we don't get along now -- we do -- it's just that she's so negative all the time that it can be really draining sometimes for me to talk to her.) I think I told you guys this before but my Mom used to always tell me that she always wanted a little girl born on June 2 (my birthday) with brown hair and blue eyes, so I used to think that she was the LUCKIEST women in the world for having me b/c I was EXACTLY what she always wanted! I'm so telling our babies that line too!
9.gif
But I bring that up again because it was during those morning sessions of lying together in her bed that she would tell me that.

Tacori, when is your next dr. appt? Do you go weekly now?

Bobo, yep, I get bad leg pains too when I'm sleeping (well, trying to sleep) -- for me, it's from pressure on the nerves, and the only thing that makes the pain go away is to get up and walk around. But I get it in both legs pretty much every night, a few times a night. Since I'm getting up to pee anyway, so I usually can get rid of the pain and pee at the same time. As for leg cramps, like Tacori said, don't point your toes! Just flatten out your leg on the bed and keep your toes straight (or even flex slightly if you can) -- that really works for me!

How's everyone else feeling?

I've got an u/s and then a OB appt. tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to. I've been having a lot of pressure really low (like way below the belly), so I'm starting to get all nervous about my cervix (haha, that sort of ryhmes) so I'm glad to be getting checked out tomorrow. And of course it's always fun to see the babies during u/s!

Tonight we've got our first (of two) multiples childbirth classes -- kind of nervous about these b/c I think this is going to make it all so REAL! I may close my eyes during the videos though. I'm just not sure that seeing other people go through it is going to make me feel any better about it all! It's going to happen regardless of whether I watch others go through labor or not, and to be honest, I'd just rather not. I don't watch a Baby Story on TLC or any of that either. To me, your L&D experience is yours and is unique. I mean, I want to be informed and know what to expect but I don't think that I need to see others pushing or getting a c-section is necessary.

And then it's my shower this weekend!!
36.gif

Ella, they are nice memories. I am sure our babies will have the same ones
36.gif
You are going to have a great shower! I am so excited for you. I STILL have to finish my thank yous. I have had no motivation at all! (so bad!) My next appointment is tomorrow. I go weekly now. I wonder if there has been any changes. Guess I''ll find out soon. 20 days til my due date. Talk about it starting to feel real
23.gif

ella, those are nice memories, i like how your mom said she always wanted a girl born on your b-day with brown hair and blue eyes. my girls are always my favorite (insert age they are) girl ever. have fun at your OB appt tomorrow.

tacori, you''re in the final stretch. i always like the weekly appts b/c it really does mean it''s getting close and the end of the hugeness is near, plus just getting so excited to hold that new little baby.

So, i''ve ordered some more maternity clothes. I also decided to go to a new oldnavy that opened up a few miles from our house just to see if they carry Maternity and they do
36.gif
. they just opened so many shelves were still bare but they did have several types of jeans on all sale and are getting in some really cute fall sweaters. i left a grand opening coupon they sent me at home or i would have stocked up right then. But i''m going to head back in a few days when they get more things out. They also had the cutest puffy vests for little girls that I''m totally getting for my two. Feeling pretty good today. tomorrow the weather is supposed to finally start cooling, 92 today, 86 tomorrow and then the low 70''s the rest of the week. Fall cannot come quick enough!!

MrsS, I am obsessed with their maternity clothes. I just think they are cute and so cheap! I bought a cute sweater there last time even though I REALLY tried to talk myself out of it. It is still warm here too so WHEN I am going to get a chance to wear it...I don''t know
20.gif
I had a coupon and no one to talk me out of it. It was a weak, weak moment. Now I only have a handful of shirts long enough to cover my gigantic belly and I refuse to buy more clothes. So I rotate. My neighbors probably are making fun of me. Oh and buying big jeans was a good idea. They are so comfy! I have given up cuteness. I never got the glow or the thick, shiny hair....it''s fine. Their little girls clothes are SOOOO adorable too. And don''t even get me started on the baby clothes. Cutest neutral stuff I have found for sure!

Too bad you aren''t moving closer to me. We could do play dates.
1.gif

BTW, what diapering systems are people getting? I got the diaper champ (I think
33.gif
) but the negative online reviews are scaring me.

Tacori, we registered for Diaper Champ too. I''ve heard pros and cons of all of them, but since that one uses regular bags, I figured I''d rather use the one that will cost us less!

As for clothes, my BIG jeans aren''t big anymore!!
32.gif
I''m def. going to need to invest in another pair of jeans soon. I also got a cute pair of black full-panel jeans at Old Navy a few weeks ago. So I currently have, um, three pairs of pants in my rotation -- but I don''t know how long any of them will last me!

I started knitting a sweater for my friend''s baby (1 month old now, but I''m doing it for 6 months), and now I want to knit a million things for our babies too! Do any of you guys knit or crochet?

I had the genie with my first and it was just such a pain to clean and deal with I stopped using it and went to just putting the dirty diapers in the plasic grocery bags..the same way I clean up after zoe
3.gif
. there may be better one''s out there now days though. i just don''t like changing the cans after a few diapers get in there even for a few hours, and the room still kinda smelled. it was easier just to dispose of it right away. i carried extra bags in my diaper bag to for when i had to change a dirty diaper and there wasn''t a trash can near by.

i agree that old navy is just the best for cute stuff at great prices. I just hate spending a lot of $ on something I''m only going to wear for a season but i still want things that are cute. i love their kids clothes too but do find they don''t last as long as some other brands out there. With all the washing and stain treating they get through a season but rarely can I reuse Chloe''s things for Lily. But the price is so great I don''t really mind, especially for the really trendy things that would be out by the time lily could wear it.

ella, I LOVE to knit. I used to knit sweaters all the time. I like to do it more in the winter months though and since having kids I just don''t have the time like I used to. But, this is a good reminder that I need to pick up some yarn for a sweater chloe wants me to make her.

MrsS, yes, it''s SO hard to knit during the summer - ugh, surrounding yourself in wool and cotton when it''s 90+ degrees out? No thanks!

This is a sweater I knit for a friend''s baby boy two years ago -- she just had a baby girl too and said she is going to use it for her too since it''s such a neutral color. The new one I''m making is the same pattern (it''s SO easy -- the front and back are the same [just squares] and then the sleeves are the same), but I''m doing it in a gorgeous jewel/foresty green. Can''t wait to see the finished product! I love knitting the pieces, but I HATE finishing sweaters -- I''m so bad at it. I think I need to take a class in it again.

(Sorry for going a bit off topic here ladies!)

baby_sweater_boatneck.jpg

ella, the sweater looks great. I'm so into easy patterns right now. I try to have one pattern sweater and one super easy going at the same time just so i don't get bored. I started this sweater a few years ago for my step-daughter and didn't finish it before she outgrew it
40.gif
39.gif
but i'm determined to get it done so my oldest can wear it. i have to go to our knitting store for help with the border, i just do not understand the pattern even with the knitting help book i use which is part of the reason it's still undone. i love knitting cute easy sweaters as baby gifts. my best friends mom is the one who taught us how to knit when we were in HS. she knit my daughter the cutest purple sweater in washable cotton which is now the only thing i knit in when making kid items. LOVE the washable cotton!!

to get back on topic, are you going to knit your twins anything? once I find out the sex of this baby I'd like to knit it a little sweater or something...but who knows if i'll have the time.

sopsweater1.jpg

WOW, MrsS! That''s beautiful! Other than cables, I haven''t done anything fancy with switching colors or anything like that (my stripes have been disasters!). I''m so impressed! If a pattern isn''t something I can finish relatively quickly, then I tend to lose interest in it (I can''t work on the same thing for months), so I need to stick to easy ones. I''m too embarrassed to even tell you how many projects-in-progress I have sitting around that I haven''t touched in years ... I haven''t knit anything in ages so this sweater is a good ease back into it for me right now. Hopefully I can finish this up pretty fast so I''ll have time to knit a few for the twins as well! I do knit some pretty darn cute booties too, so at the very least I should be able to whip up some of those (though I don''t know if anyone has actually ever used the ones I''ve made, they''re a pretty sweet little gift!).

I do have one supercute purple sweater that I knit the pieces for years ago but never put together
20.gif
so maybe I could finish that up for our little baby girl. Be sure to post photos of your sweaters when you''re done with them please!

In other stuff, I know Tacori got a sweet Best Chairs glider -- have any of you other moms or moms-to-be bought rockers or gliders? We''re giving up on finding one big enough to feed both babies at once (I''ll jsut do that on the bed or the couch, I guess), but I''d still like a chair in the nursery so I can rock the babies to sleep. Anyone have any recommendations?

Oh now I wished I knew how to knit! Your sweaters are SOOOO cute!!!

Hi Preggies!!

I am back from NYC...all in all had a great time (save for when i lost it on my sister and we both had words with one another in Steve Madden in Soho). Travelling with 6 ppl in NYC is tricky--a lot of waiting around b/c it was crowded and SO hot! Crazy weather.
The highlight of the trip was seeing Wicked on Broadway...i am a big musical buff and have seen many shows. This one is at the top of my list. It was just brilliant. Extra special due to the fact that we got dead-center orchestra seats at the last min b/c of a bennefit performance that was held sunday night. It was the 2 two lead witches'' last performance and they gave it their all. The crowd was electric it was so good. I highly recommend it.

Super glad i am into the second trimester--could enjoy all the good food we had and keep up with everyone. We walked almost non-stop from from 9am to 10pm all 3 days. My belly liagaments were aching by around 11pm every night--might have overdone it when DH and I ran full-tilt several blocks to make it to Tiffany''s and the Apple store before closing...what one will do in the name of shopping ;-) sheesh

Stopped at Target on the way home....i heart Target! Wish we had that chain here. I bought 3 pairs of mat pants (almost spent over $200 on a pair of maternity Seven jeans at Macy''s --glad i didn''t b/c i got a very similar looking pair at Target for a fraction of the price!) Also bought a nursing pillow, medela breast pump (on sale) and breast milk bags. I know i am getting this stuff well ahead of time but our dollar is so high right now it is a great time to buy in the states i figured I was there so why not....helps spread out the costs as well.

Oh, one more thing (sorry for long post) I''ve been lusting over bugaboo strollers (i know, so yuppie) saw them everywhere in NYC. Have to say, they are pretty cute. No one in my town would know/care that they are uber trendy so that''s not why i am considering one--i just really like the minimalist look and the fact that they have a lot of features. Not a fan of the cost so I am off to look on ebay for a used one.....can''t justify spending nearly $1000 on a stroller!

Did a quick scan of the posts and sounds like everyone is doing well (have to catch up on reading this thread)

hey jas,
so glad you had a fun trip to NY. I saw Wicked in chicago last year and it was awesome there too. defintely a show to see again and again. I heart target too, i don''t know what i''d do without one. glad you got to stock up on some things though.

jas, glad you had such a good time in my fair city! It really was pretty hot over the weekend--the humidity is pretty bad. I had to comment on the Bugaboo thing. I''m one of those New Yorkers cruising around with my $1000 stroller!!!! I know, it''s absolutely crazy and it was our one big ridiculous splurge but since we don''t have a car, it really is like my car!!! I LOVE it but if I lived in the suburbs, I probably would have just bought a regular Maclaren umbrella stroller or something not so pricey and rugged. But for city life, the Bugaboo is awesome!!

And since I spent so much on a stroller, I saved on things like bedding. We actually JUST bought the crib since Lily doesn''t even have a room and was in ours for the first 3 months and then in her pack n play until now. So we got a nice crib that I love but I''m not one of those bedding addicts. Well, I found the most adorable set at TARGET!!! The price was right and I absolutely love it!!! http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pgc_r_2_0_1162318/602-5802518-7189416?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000PUK9VA

Hope njc is snuggling with her little man right now. Can''t wait to hear all about it!!

Hope everyone is doing well. I''ll have to catch up and post more when I get a chance!

Welcome back, Jas! Sounds like you had a great trip -- awesome! I''m dying to see Wicked, but tix are just so expensive that we can''t justify spending it right now, what with all the house renovations and two babies on the way. Oh well, maybe some day!

Tacori, knitting is easy!! Once you get past the frustrating learning phase and it "clicks," it''s really a breeze to do basic things. If you have a knitting shop nearby, you should take a class!

Had my u/s and OB appt. this morning and I got great reports at both -- whoo hooo!! The babes are growing nice and big -- she is ~2.2 lbs. and he is ~2.3 lbs. My cervix is long and closed, so nothin going on down there. The pain I''m feeling down there is just ligaments stretching. It''s painful as hell sometimes though! But as long as I know it''s normal pain, then I can deal with it. Dr. wants to start seeing me every 2 weeks now, so my next appt. is in 2 weeks but then he''s on vacation so my next one (with u/s) is 3 weeks following. I don''t get to see the babies for 5 weeks! That''s a long time for me, since I''ve had so many regular u/s appts!

Tacori, hope your appt. today goes well too!

We had our first childbirth class last night, and the instructor told us that the American Academy of Pediatrics actually does not currently recommend circumcisions (I don''t think they''re anti them either, just that they feel they''re not medically necessary). I thought that was interesting! My parents would be pretty upset if we didn''t get our little boy circ''d, but hubby is not circ''d and never had any problems, so we''re a little torn about what to do ...

Hey ladies. I had a good, uneventful appointment. I think it took 5 mins. He didn''t do an internal this time so I am not sure what my status is. HB was 145 (AGAIN! It always it) and my belly is measuring on track. I did ask what office policy on inductions was. He said he does them in the 41st week. I really hope that is a non issue. I would hate for my mom to come when I was still preggo. I am getting pretty uncomfortable and the m/s has come back. He said that was normal. Just a waiting game now. 19 days til my due date not that I am counting of course!
2.gif

Jas, glad you had fun. We have the Chicco travel system. I think it was $280. I can''t imagine spending $1000.

Curly, cute bedding. Perfect for Lily and what a great price!

Ella, they are growing! How exciting!!! My cervix was long and closed too (at my 36 week appointment). I guess my baby needs to bake a little longer. Part of my is relieved b/c I am getting freaked out. Part of my sad b/c I want to know who is inside me! And I can''t wait to get rid of all these pesky preggo symptoms. This last month is hard!

glad you ladies appt. went well..

ellaila, my husband and I was talking about circumcision this morning, if we want our baby to be circumcise. He think why not, he had his at 20''s so he remember it was a painful two weeks recovery time. So he want to do it so the baby won''t remember the pain.

Tacori E-ring, hang in there...just think that you will hold ur baby in ur arm very soon.

I want to take childbirth class, do I ask my doctor or the hospital?

Bobo, we took our classes at the hospital. Go to your hospital''s website. They should have a list there. Ours were really great. We took prepared childbirth, infant cpr, breastfeeding, and taking care of baby. They say to take them between 32-36 weeks.

All males on my side of the family and hubby's side too are uncircumcised. There is no reason to do so for us.

For those who are thinking about it, please research it first. There are some pros and some cons (as with everything else). Also, it is considered a "wound" and you need to dress it, there will be minor bleeding, etc. I've also heard that some hospitals do not use anesthetic, so please check with your local hospital and request that they use anesthetic, if this is what you choose.

It just breaks my heart to hear of baby boys undergoing this, when baby girls don't undergo female circumcision here in the west. Please do some real research and not just on biased sites.

ETA
If it is mandated by your religion, then just ignore what I posted above.
1.gif

If we have a boy he will be circumcised. Of course DH is which I think DOES make a difference. They taught us in class how to care for it.

Chrono, I''m Jewish, which is why my parents would be pretty upset if I didn''t get our boy circumcised. But even if we do, I wouldn''t do it in a bris, I''d just get it done in a hospital. I need to do some research though to see the pros and cons of it and am going to ask the pediatrician as well on Thursday. I know she''s Jewish though (she''s my stepbrother''s wife''s cousin, and I met her during Rosh Hashanah), so I wonder if she''d be biased? I hope that her religion wouldn''t cloud medical evidence. I am not religious whatsoever and don''t really click with the religious reason for doing a circumcision, so for me it truly would be strictly a medical procedure if we decide to do it. But again, we def. need to read up on it! As of right now, I''m neither pro it or anti it -- I''m too ignorant to choose a side!

Our instructor told us last night that deciding whether or not to circ is your first big decision as parents, and it''s one that a lot of people really agonize over.

Bobo, so far we''ve taken infant cpr, parenting multiples, and half of our childbirth course, and all have been really great! I defintiely recommend taking the courses. I plan on taking breastfeeding as well.

Tacori, sorry you''re feeling so bad again
14.gif
With all the changes that take place in your body the final few weeks though, I suppose it''s not really too hard to understand why! I''m sure the second you''re holding little Will or Natalie or Tessa or Emmerson in your arms, you''ll forget all about that morning sickness
21.gif
It''ll be here before you know it!!!

Hi mommies and mommies to be!
I ran across this in the Times today and thought I''d pass it along. It''s vague, but interesting:

Beware of Bumpers in Baby’s Crib

Hope everyone''s doing well! Conrats Diver on Delaney, she''s beautiful!

I am taking our bumper out once the baby moves into the nursery (maybe 3-4 months).

I am so relieved. I talked to my mom and she could sense my disappointment. She said not to worried if I am late, she'll stay longer. I asked her if she could get the time off and she said she didn't care. This was more important and she would make them understand
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. We have no local family so I think I was stressing about having NO outside help at all for the first week. Plus I am a mommy's girl and always want her when I am sick/in pain/etc... Anyways now I am kind of hoping I WILL be late so my mom will stay longer
27.gif
12.gif
Hehe, just kidding (mostly).

Njc, I hope you can check in soon! You are KILLING us!!!!

Njc, I am hoping all went well, can''t wait to hear from you!!

Just checking in to see if NJC has posted yet.

Diver, Delaney is such a sweetie. Does Jake enjoy being a big brother? When my son was born, my daughter was 2 1/2. She was so excited to have a baby brother for a few days. About the 4th day, she said she was tired of having a baby brother and wanted to take him back to the hospital....lol.
