Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Hello there preggos!!
35.gif

Over on the new mama (newborn to 12 months) thread, we've been talking about making a change in the way the thread is organized. It affects you all, so I thought I'd explain what we are thinking and get you guys's feedback.

A bit of history There used to just be a preggo thread. As it grew, there were lots of regular posters and the new moms stuck around. The great part was that it was easy to ask a question and get a response from someone more experienced, but the downside is that the thread moved SUPER fast and was hard to keep up with. People going through things at the same time naturally "talked" mostly to eachother, and thus the thread split into mamas and preggos. Later, the same thing happened as many people "graduated" to the moms thread, and that thread split off into the younger baby and toddler threads that we have now.

The way things are set up now, as you know, people keep "graduating" up the line, and everyone will eventually end up on the toddler's thread. With this system, over time we would probably need to keep splitting the thread for the oldest group of kids.

We are thinking about changing our thread's title to be "PS Mommy Thread - 2009 babies" or something like that. This means that the people currently on the thread (plus any new additions before the year's end!) would just stay on it over time. We wouldn't graduate up and overwhelm the toddler thread. But, it would mean that you all would need to start a thread for 2010 babies so you all would have a place to graduate up to.

Could you please share your feedback with us over in the Newborn to 12 month thread? Thanks!

TDM

so, i have a really good friend that is about a week ahead of me in her pregnancy [her third child]... she just called me to say she''s having a boy [she already has a girl + boy]. is it just me or does it seem EVERYONE is having a boy right now? [and no, we don''t know what we''re having yet]

oh, and update on the christmas party wardrobe dilemma - i decided to do black dress, black tights + red coat. i''m going to look for some cheapy shoes that i can wear in case it''s yucky + muddy outside. i tried it all on this morning. i was worried the red coat didn''t fit since it''s a very fitted non-maternity coat. but it fits! even when buttoned, it fits! yay!

Congrats Amber and Indy!!!

I''ve been so busy getting Christmas decorations up and getting our house in order (just listed it with an agent...had been trying to do for sale by owner for a couple months) for our open house Sunday. Yuck.

Steph~Can''t wait to see your belly shot!!!

Speaking of bellies....I am super uncomfortable with my low, low baby. I only teach part time but those 4 hours of dress clothes are an absolute nightmare some days...and I still have 10 weeks to go!!!
20.gif

burk...it feels like the last few days something has changed for my body because i was way uncomfortable from like thurs to monday. today i feel better... more like myself a week or two ago. but i was like jeez is it all downhill from here? i have 8.5 more weeks. plus he''s doing aerospace gymnastics in there which is just crazy sometimes.

mere, glad your tests were fine. when we did the genetic testing they told us we''d get a letter and we should get a call from the doctor too. well the first tri we only got a letter no call. the second we did genetic testing AND amnio so we got the NT at 12 weeks then the amnio at 15, and they called us with the amnio results. but yeah calls can be a little freaky.

jcrow, everyone i know who is preggo is having boys...except for two girls. i think i know 5 people in real life who are having boys and then 2 who are having girls. i hear that it ''switches off'' from year to year and goes in cycles.

I will hold out hope that I have a "come back" like you did!
3.gif
I do remember it being pretty much downhill from 33 weeks on with my first pregnancy (a lot of back pain, ect) but I''m not even there yet!! My little guy enjoys the gymnastics as well....to the point where it actually even hurts sometimes! I am tall and have a long torso so the fact that he''s so low, but actually taking up a lot of space (was kicking me practically right in between my boobs yesterday!!
20.gif
) makes me wonder how big this kid is going to be too!!
40.gif

Jcrow- That outfit sounds perfect! Good luck on the shoe search!

Re: Lots of boys: (including myself)
Boys: 5 - another friend thinks her 3rd is going to be a boy... so possibly 6
Girls: 2

Mara- Thanks for sharing your experience with your office. I guess the calls just seem so personal. Isn't it funny the places we WANT to call us back are when we are unhappy, but when we are perfectly content, we would prefer an email. lol.

Steph- I CANNOT wait to see your "new" belly!!!

Burk- I totally understand the low belly thing. I have reached the point that dress pants are really no longer an option. I have been wearing my low rise black pants the last two days, b/c they sit below my belly. If the baby keeps growing out of my pelvis, the next couple months are going to get harder for me, clothing wise.

I also just found out that my cousin is perggo with her 2nd! 12 weeks along and due at the beginning of June! LOL! The awesome thing is that she is in SD and my sis in So.Cal, so I'm probably thinking that a late summer trip to Cali with the LO is going to be in order!
9.gif

Back from my appointment. Kid weighs just over 2lb now, all looks good. Cervix still 5cm. So I get to go back to work next week! So excited. I''ll get all of 6-7 days of work before I''m off for Christmas break, but that''s better than nothing. Hopefully will be back full time to earn some pre-baby money come Jan and Feb, though I''ve got a week off mid-Jan to deal with moving stuff. At least that''ll give me time to get packing finished up. And she''s shifted to more head-down (a$$ in the upper right corner, head lower left), which will hopefully mean she''s not trying to beat her way out my cervix any more. I''d love it if she''d stay like this to the end, but realistically I know she''ll have lots of room to turn around for another 5-8 weeks.

Now I''m looking forward to a BPF with more than 2 photos. I think my belly has sort of exploded too, so maybe Steph''s not my slightly-more-advanced belly twin any more. DH can''t stop commenting on how big I''m getting, and I just keep telling him to wait and see how much bigger it''s going to get.

When I gave birth on Halloween there were 8 babies delivered while I was laboring...Only 2 were girls...so 2 girls, 7 boys (counting my little one).

Also, my friend is having a boy also.

Mere~I totally remember my first pregnancy having to stop wearing my dress pants...such a sad time. At least you still have some low rise pants that you can wear below your belly. My low rise still cut into my low, big boy! I need to just cave and order another couple pairs of maternity dress pants, but I''m stubborn!
9.gif

drk~Yay for a good appt!! Can''t wait to see your growing belly!!! BFP is gonna be fun!!
36.gif

And, yes, totally seems like the boy trend right now!!! I have a few friends preggo not far enough along to know what they''re having yet but I would bet money at least a couple have boys!

Mara, Burk
I am getting uncomfortable too.  I am having a hard time picking up stuffs from the floor and putting on shoes now, and I didn’t have problems doing those things with Meena.  I feel like this baby is lower.  But when I look back at the belly pics, I look about the same.  It’s just so weird.

Jcrow
Your outfit sounds so cute.  Good luck with finding the shoes.  What are you looking for? Flats?  Kitten heels?  High heels?  I was looking for some cute flats for a wedding we went to couple weeks ago, but didn’t find anything and I ended up getting some 2 in heels.
Our friend whose EDD is in April is having a boy.  My sis’s friend due in Jan is having a boy too.  Definitely a boy year.

Meresal
Lots of LOs in your family next year.

Steph, drk
Can’t wait to see your bellies on BPF.

Am I the only one who haven’t buy any cold weather maternity clothes?  I really don’t want to spend money on maternity clothes since this might be our last kid, so I’ve been wearing my regular long sweather and long sleeves tops.  I mean I only have 8 weeks left, but I feel like I might be looking grumpy.  =P

Hello ladies!

35.gif
Long time no see! I''ve been under the weather and MIA for a while but finally feeling better. I''m pretty sure I had the flu and it knocked me down a bit. I called my ob the first day i felt crummy and the on-call nurse pretty much blew me off and told me to go see my pcp.
38.gif
Which I wouldn''t have been able to for 2 days with it being the weekend and if I had the flu, way too late. I was kind of pissed and worried since although I got both my flu shots (regular and H1N1) with the pregnancy and my history of asthma, I was NOT going to take any chances. So I called in Tamiflu for myself and just took it. Got better after a few days, but then my asthma kicked in and I was unable to be in any form of horizontal position without coughing and choking. So for the entire thanksgiving holiday neither of us slept becuase I had to keep sitting up and he was too worried to not be near me and then i felt awful keeping him up etc... and so we were both pretty miserable over the weekend.
40.gif
I was too worried to take anything other than sparingly my inhaler so my congestion, cough, and throat were just out of control. But I just sucked it up and dealt with going through 3 tissue boxes in 7 days, and coughing fits that made me throw up and lack of sleep.
39.gif

THen in the midst of it all I noticed teh little fella was not as crazy active as he usually is and started to freak out.

32.gif
Called the ob, and the on- call doc kind of blew me off again. Now I KNOW most likely it''s just first time mommy panic, but I sooo did not appreciate his attitude and him not listening to what I was saying. He kept saying it''s normal for him to not be active YET at thispoint and that the albuterol would make him move more. I kept saying but he''s been CRAZY active and even with the albuterol which i wasn; tusing before but now am, he''s WAY LESS active. He just said well if it continues for a significant amount of time then we''ll bring you in. click. end of call. I was like WTF?! what is a significant amount of time?! I''ve been noting this for 2 days, what''s that?!
38.gif
Luckily one of my friend''s hubbies is a radiology resident so they just snuck me in to do a quickie U''S to make sure teh HR was ok (which it was).

That calmed me down enough to wait for my regularly scheduled visit today with my ob. She was PISSED when she found out the nurse told me to just go to my PCP, told me I was spot on in getting the tamiflu myself and taking it. SHe told me even though there was no way for me to find out if the infection was actually a flu or something else, the risk was too high to not take it and the on call person should have just called it in for me WITHOUT HESITATION. And she told me there were definitely symptom alleviating meds they could have called in for me etc... I had never called to ask because I had lost faith in them doing anything for me during that time. I definitely felt better knowing my ob was thinking along my lines and that def keeps my faith and trust in HER as a doctor, although I have little faith in her NP who was on call that day.

That also made me think that I''m lucky enough to be in the med field and know enough to get myself through this and have other professionals to help me out after hours, but most patients are not and how stuck they would be with this kind of treatment. THat''s really really sad.

38.gif

But in happier news, I''m measuring normal, HR is normal, and weight gain is doing OK (up 24 lbs at 30 weeks). And I passed my Yuckola test (YAY!). My belly has REALLY popped recently and the other docs and the nurses at work are all looking at me and doing that smiling "oh look at the pregnant lady!" look. It''s kind of funny. Hubby LOVES that my belly is growing. He thinks it''s hilarious and views the belly and the baby movements as his own personal Alien movie.

9.gif
Right before I got sick, the bay got the hiccups for the first time (I had been waiting for this) and hubby was there and got to feel the whole thing. GingerBaby seemed to get frustrated too, cuz in between hiccups he was flipping and flopping around in there making my ENTIRE abdomen shake. It was crazy. Fun, but a little uncomfortable too cuz he was def stretching the capacity to the limit with his squirming.

Sorry for the super long post. I just really had to vent about what had been going on lately.

14.gif
No way for me to catch up, but definitly wanted to say CONGRATS!!!
36.gif
to all the new mommies and WELCOME!!
35.gif
to all the new preggos. And def, AMBERWAVES you are my hero...24 hrs of labor then an EC?! YOu are a trooper and I can''t wait to see little Piper!
36.gif

ginger, if i feel decreased movement i am supposed to call L&D and then i will have to go in and be monitored. i guess it''s a diff system/process than yours but it seems liek they take it pretty serious if you notice a big decrease.

that said, i have noticed that while my guy is crazy active 90% of the time, he does have a ''silent period'' of 1.5 days every 7 or so days where he is way less active. still some slight movements from time to time but it decreases about 75%.

i def feel a little paranoid during that day, but i try to just remind myself he does this and assume he''s growing a new layer of fat or something.

QT...soo funny you say re: bending over etc. my ''bending over'' now is more like a squatted frog split or something. and last nite greg was laughing at me putting on underwear, i stand and bend one leg out tototally to the right and then put it in and do the other to the left. forget bending over to put my legs in. it probably looks like weird yoga poses.

one of my friends towards the last 2 weeks wrote on her FB that if stuff dropped on the floor she just left it there. HAHAA.

Just have to say, Mara, that your friend is awesome! I love it. hahaha

today I am 6 weeks preggers. yay! half-way throught the 1st trimester. I know most of you veterans are probably thinking that was so long ago for you. took another HPT this morning just for the hell of it. I have them left in my medicine cabinet.

yesterday was the first time DH spoke to the baby. he came home and said "hi sweetiepie" to me and gave me a kiss, and then said "hi sweetiepie" again and kissed my tummy.
12.gif
actually, the first time he spoke to the baby was this weekend when he put his head under the covers, and said loudly (like he was talking to someone who is hard-of-hearing), "Is it you who has all that gas or is it your mommy?"
20.gif
but as that was more directed at me I don''t count it.

how soon were your partners "involved" with the baby? I don''t force anything on DH as I want it all to come from him naturally, and I was really happy that he wants to be there for the first U/S.

noelwr- That''s cute! My hubby talks to her and yells, "BABY!" over and over again! LOL...My husband wants to be at every appointment and he teared up when we first heard the baby''s heartbeat and saw her for the first time. It''s been a great experience and I feel that the closer we get to her arrival the more nervous and anxious he is!
41.gif

noelwr - Congrats on you BFP!
36.gif
I''m 36 weeks now and at 6 weeks it felt like I would never get there, but it goes by so fast! I''m definitely wishing you no m/s.

DH interacts a lot with the belly too, he started before we even knew I was pregnant! It took us just one month to conceive, so he didn''t have time to get tired of it... Since he started feeling the baby movement, he puts his head on my belly every morning and every night and talks and "plays" with the baby. He''s so in love, and it''s the cutest thing.

Congrats Indy - so excited to see pics of little Nolan
36.gif

Noelwr - it''s so cute when they talk to the belly isn''t it? My FI only really started in the past couple of weeks, when my belly starting popping a bit. He usually talks to it quickly in the morning before he leaves, again when he gets home and then has a little conversation when we go to bed.
30.gif
So sweet, I love it.

Noel, my husband attends all of my appointments, does all of the pregnancy research in our house, and has taken over all household responsibilites (car washing, cooking, cleaning, etc.). He spends a lot of time telling me what the baby wants/thinks/likes/dislikes, but he is not so hands on with my stomach, it makes him very nervous. He keeps telling me he''s ready for her "to be here" and then pats his chest. Every once in a while I''ll put his hand on my stomach so he can feel her.

I meet my frst client at my new job today, such an adventure. Otherwise things are status quo. I was told by a co-worker yesterday that she has food babies bigger than my stomach, she cracks me up.

awww... all the stories about your men talking to their future child are so sweet!

KimberlyH - that''s so funny that your hubby tells you what your baby likes/dislikes/wants/etc.
I was gonna ask what "food babies" are, but I figured it out. good luck on your new job adventure!

When we first found out about the prgnancy, DH would kiss my tummy every morning before leaving for work. It has faded a bit, so he has done it about once or twice a week for the last 10 weeks.

However, now that I am finally starting to show and he can feel the baby getting higher, he is getting very cutsie again. Although he doesn''t "talk" to my stomach really, he always has a hand on my belly when we are sitting on the couch or when we go to sleep at night.

I hit 19 weeks yesterday, and I guess the baby is moving up now. I can feel a really hard spot in my pelvis below my belly button by a few inches, so I''m guessing that is my uterus. I have also started feeling more pressure. Is this pressure just becuase of the movement upwards, or is it here for the long haul now?
34.gif

GingerB
Glad you are feeling better.  I am surprised that the NP didn’t get you the tamiflu.  I thought they were giving those out pretty easily due to the swine flu virus.

Mara
LOL on your friend just leaving things on the ground.  I still try to pick things up and do most things by myself because I don’t want to feel handicapped by the pregnancy.  I also try not to waddle when I walk.  I just want to be “normal”, if you KWIM.

Noelwr
Your DH is too cute.  DH tries to go to most of my appointments, but only touch and talk to my belly occasionally.  He isn’t really involved since it is not really real to him until he is holding the baby.  It was the same with Meena.

KimberlyH
Sounds like your new job is going well.  Food babies… LOL… my coworker used to make the same statement.

Meresal
Where are you feeling the pressure?  On top of your belly?

QT~I haven't bought much for maternity clothes either. I wear a lot of pre-preggo sweaters and anything I had from when I was preggo with T. Shirts and sweaters are fine but what really bothers me is my pants. I wore my bella band with pre-preggo pants for my entire pregnancy with T and that is just NOT comfortable this time around. Boo.... My OB told me it's really common for second pregnancies (especially if they're pretty close together like ours) to carry lower.

Ginger~Sorry you were so sick. Good thing you took it upon yourself to call in tamiflu. Shame on that nurse!!

Mara~Love your friend just leaving things on the ground. I'm lucky that Tayva is a pretty good helper and will pick stuff up for me!!
16.gif

All your husbands sound adorable. Mine works a lot and is out of town a lot so he's only been to a couple of my appts for this one...I guess it's a little different when it's the second, too. He was at the big u/s of course.

I was at the grocery store last night and the lady checking me out asked how much longer I have left...like it shouldn't be long.
33.gif
I just laughed and said I've got 10 more weeks so quite a while and she looked so shocked. I mean really. I am not THAT big. I do NOT look ready to pop. Or at least I try and tell myself that!!

Where are you feeling the pressure? On top of your belly?
The pressure is below, where the hard spot is.

The hard spot, that I am assuming is my uterus, is about 4 inches wide and about 3 inches tall. A nurse told me that my uterus is tilted backwards, so I am assuming that I can only recently feel it, because the baby is getting so much bigger, and can''t go back any further. Since the baby is apprx 6 inches now, and still hasn''t come up any higher, I''m guessing that he is running out of room down there?

The pressure feels like it is pushing out from my pelvis, not down, which I assume is the kind of pressure you feel when in labor.

Does that make any sense?

Got it. Sorry, but these pressure are here for the long haul.

for husbands i think they are so far removed from it all whereas with us women it''s happening IN our bodies... it wasn''t really REAL to my husband until he saw the first ultrasound with the nugget in there which was at about 8 weeks. he was really ''into it'' for a few weeks then too but after that it tapered off til he could SEE results (belly).

he has gone to all the ''big'' appts with me but if we don''t get to see the baby then he usually doesn''t come because he works about 45 min from my Dr so it can be a hassle if its in the middle of the day.

for him also when my belly started to grow is when he got more interested, and especially now that the baby is moving more. when he kisses me goodbye in the mornings in bed he usually says bye to the baby and/or caresses the belly. same when he comes home. but he has definitely gotten way more excited in the last 4-6 weeks, esp with getting the baby room ready and seeing my body grow etc.

i didn''t mind him not being SUPER interested in the process when it wasn''t really ''visible'', and thankfully he wasn''t one of those husbands who was like ''don''t sleep on your back'' or ''you shouldn''t be eating that'' or whatever...haha. but lately he has been telling me i should take it more easy and not keep trying to go at the pace i used to be able to...i agree with him and am fine to hear that.

the nugget seems to be growing like crazy, well at least my belly seems HUGE suddenly like i had a growth spurt in the last week. maybe that''s why i feel different and a bit more uncomfortable. also i can feel bits and pieces of him in funny places now like a bone sticking out to the right and sitting there for a while before moving back into the body. but my uterus isn''t thin enough yet for me to SEE like something sticking out or a finger or anything...it''s just i can feel a little lump and know it''s a bone or something haha. so funny!!

Got it. Sorry, but these pressure are here for the long haul.
That's what I figured. I'm just hoping he moves up out of that area soon... there isn't much room.

Thanks!

About DH... he has gone with me to each appt, and will go up until our official anatomy appointment in 3 weeks. After that, I told him he didn't really need to be at the rest of the appts, unless there is a big one that I am not aware of yet. Though I love having him there, it just doesn't seem all that necessary.

DH came to the IVF clinic ultrasounds at 7wks and 9wks. Came to the NT scan at 12wks. Missed the 18 week surprise anatomy scan when they went to check on my cervix, but came along for the repeat one they did at my high-risk consult at 22.5wks. I had to record the first listening to the heartbeat for him, since he was out of town. He hasn''t come to any other appointments either - seems like a waste of time when I end up spending 2h+ at each, with all the waiting around.

He is getting more obviously involved now that the belly is growing. Kisses it often, tries to listen and see if he can hear anything, will occasionally come feel a kick if she''s being really active. He does speak to her now too. It''s nice to see him so excited about it, when he used to say he didn''t want kids.

I''m looking forward to BPF - hope to see photos from all who have anything showing! It''s so fun to see how different everyone is.

Amber- Yep, meatloaf brick about sums it up! I'm so happy for you that you've finally met your Piper Jane. I so remember your yearning for a little girl named Piper back on the TTC thread. I just "knew" you'd get preggo and I "knew" it would be a girl. How time flies!!! Congrats darling, enjoy every moment.

Indy- Love the name Nolan!

Come visit us on the newborn thread- though you may want to wait a few days, seems like there are tons of desperate HELP ME posts the past few days regarding non-sleeping babies!!! Don't get scared off now. No turning back.

lol glad China gave the heads up, sometimes when I visit the newborn thread it makes me break out in hives. breastfeeding and SSTN seem harder than gestation and giving birth sometimes. (don''t quote me on that later haha).

i will try to post a BPF tomorrow because i feel like my fundus is huge this week.
