Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Congrats Mer on Team Blue - I can''t remember what week you are, but I couldn''t feel ANYTHING till 21 weeks and that was with a posterior placenta and being on the skinny side.
I am 19 weeks tomorrow. When we had our NT scan at 12 weeks the tech told us that my uterus is tilted backwards towards my spine, so I already thought that it would take me longer to feel anything. It really hasn''t even crossed my mind. Though, it was crazy to see how much he was moving and to know that I am pretty thin and can''t feel it. Too funny!

I just read that you dropped almost all your weight in a month! I am really hoping that our body types are similar.

Just want to let you ladies know that Halo Sleepsacks are 50% off today on Babysteals.

Congrats aqua_girl!!! It’s hard not to let all that consume you, but try your best to relax and just take it one day at a time. This is my second pregnancy, and I still had the same worries about miscarriage, etc in the beginning. It’s normal b/c it’s not something we can foresee or control. With our first, we weren’t surprised by the pregnancy (took us a year to conceive). We were anxious and worried that something was wrong with one of us. We were just about to schedule an appointment with a fertility specialist. We were pretty surprised with this pregnancy b/c I got pregnant the second cycle of TTCing while still BFing Meena (she was 9 months). We thought it would take longer, hence why we started TTC when M was 8 months. We found out when I was around 4 weeks pregnant with both pregnancies. It makes the first trimester feels longer. But when you get to the third trimester, you’ll feel like it was yesterday when you found out. Best wishes for a healthy 9 months.

Puppmon
Normal to have appointments once a month until around 30 weeks or so, then twice a month, and then usually once a week by 36 weeks or so. Some dr. just have their patients come in for first appointment later in their pregnancy, and that’s why you see people talking about 6, 7 or 8 weeks babies.

Swimmer
Come back with u/s pics please. Your baby will be perfect, no matter what gender (even when they have their tandrum. LOL). DH and his friend think girls are harder b/c they have to worry about the boys when they are teenager.

noelwr
I know it’s hard not to worry, but again, there’s not much a dr. can do at this stage to prevent miscarriages. So as far as the dr. is concerned, seeing you at 6, 7, 8 or 10 weeks doesn’t make much of a difference. There are some dr. who don’t see their patients until 10 weeks, just depend on them. When I went in for my first appointment this pregnancy at 5 weeks, my dr. kept asking me if I am sure that I got my LMP right b/c he’s not used to seeing someone so early. But you should get a good pic of your LO when you go in at 10 weeks. Something to look forward to, even though the waiting sucks.

PrettyBlues

There are dr. in US that only do one u/s at around 20 weeks too. Just depends on the dr.

KimberlyH
How cute about your mom feeling the baby kicks.
I thought I had no energy in the second trimester, but it’s a lot more than what I have now in third trimester. DH and I would sit down to watch a movie after we put M to sleep, and I fall asleep within the first 15 min every time. LOL.

People at work keep asking me when the baby is due. I guess they think I am huge and should be giving birth soon or something. One male coworker asked if I am sure that I am not having twins. And one female coworker said you are so full (motioning to my boobs) and that she thinks I am bigger this time. So I must look like a beach whale. LOL.

Hi everyone! Well, that was indeed my water breaking on Sunday morning! Nolan Ross was born on Sunday, November 29 after 12 hours of labor. He was due on December 11, so he was 12 days early. Everything went really well. I pushed for two hours, but it wasn''t bad at all! The epidural was amazing. We are going home tonight, so I will post a more detailed birth story and a picture then. DH and Nolan are doing skin-to-skin time now... cutest thing over!

I am so excited for all of you who are about to go through this. It is such an incredible experience.

Can''t wait to hear from Sha!!!

Congrats Indy! Can''t wait for the detailed birth story and pics of Nolan.

Good morning ladies! Can I crash your thread to ask a question? Here goes - I''m hoping to get some info on your prenatal visit schedule. I hear lots of talk about how babies are measuring at 6, 7 and 8 weeks. It was my understanding that, after my first appt next week (5 weeks and a few days), that I won''t see my doctor for another 4 weeks unless I have an issue. Is this normal?
I didn''t see my doc at all until I was 10 weeks, that is standard in Canada unless you are high risk.

Welcome Piper! What a great story Amber. LOL at the "meatloaf brick" Yup, that''s what it feels like all right!Q

Congrats Indy!! Welcome to the word Nolan Ross!!! hope you two are doing well.

Amber you''re amazing! You and Piper are troopers

I''m so glad she''s here and you both are well. Take care and enjoy your little Piper!!

Yay Indy! congrats on your son! Love his name, super cute

Indy, congrats on baby Nolan!

Amber, I''m sorry to hear that you had such a tough L&D, but congrats on baby Piper!

indypitty - congrats on baby nolan! can''t wait to see pics and read the birth story!

I''m pretty sure I''ve been feeling the first of many baby movements to come. The first time, it came at night while I was lying still in bed. My stomach was pushed slightly into the mattress, and I felt a little flutter in the center of my belly below my belly button. A few days later on our drive to hub''s parent''s house [to celebrate Thanksgiving!], I felt another flutter. I grabbed his hand and put it on my belly. Sadly, with all the movement of the car + road, he couldn''t really feel it. That night, though, while lying in bed, again I felt a flutter. I grabbed his hand and he felt it! He fell asleep with his hand on my belly.

in other news, i have a christmas party to attend friday and i have NO clue what to wear. it''s hub''s company party and i haven''t met anyone yet. any ideas??

IP! Congratulations! That was quick!

Jcrow- I usually stick to black with Christmas parties, especially when I don't know alot of people. Usually something with a little sparkly or a sheer overlay. It is supposed to be cold down here all the way thru the weekend, so maybe a simple black dress with a nice winter coat over.
Congratulations on feeling the kicks! That is awesome!

** N/M, some places are saving that it is a scam, and some are not. **

I just missed a call from my doctor's nurse.

I had my blood taken last week for the second half of my 2 Trimester screening, and whenever taking blood before they just sent an email saying "Results Normal". I have never gotten a call, other than to confirm an appointment time.

Now I'm waiting for her to call back...

thanks for your thoughts. i feel so lost about fashion suddenly. my first thought was a black dress + nice shoes + pretty red dress coat. but then hubs found out that due to the amount of people, they are renting a tent and getting heaters and we''ll be dining outside. so the cold + add in the rain we''ve had lately and now i''m not sure. hubs also thought it wouldn''t be dressy. but, i dunno, it''s a christmas party! i don''t want to show up in jeans! and well, i''ve got limited options.

i''m sure everything is fine. i got a call once to tell me that my screenings were fine. this was in addition to a letter that arrived later. i was a little nervous getting a call, but all was ok. i''m sure it will be the same for you!

Congrats indy! I can''t wait to hear more about little Nolan and his birth, and to see pics!

Thanks for the reassurance. She just called to tell me that my results were indeed normal.

An outdoor Christmas party?? Yikes!! I would say that your first idea sounds perfect... but, eek, I would be worried about my legs getting cold outside. Mayeb he could ask his co-workers what they are planning on wearing, or better yet, what their spouses are going to wear. Does he work with any women?

oh goodie for the normal results

well, he did mention that he could ask one lady he works with. the rest are all men or he doesn''t know the other women well enough to ask them.

Jcrow
Can you do the same outfit with tights? Or maybe a nice sweater dress with tights, so it''s more toasty.

work has been so busy, so much posting lately!!

aqua...congrats!! honestly... i am a real practical type gal. not super emotional and not a worry wart in general. well all that kind of went out the window after we got pregnant. it IS scary all the things that can go wrong...and i personally feel like no one is ever out of the woods when it comes to pregnancies making it to a safe delivery. i have read countless stories about so and so at 35/36/37/38 weeks who had something happen etc etc. i feel like the whole pregnancy is one big mine field you have to learn how to navigate. and a lot of it is a cruel WAITING GAME. for me the first trimester was the hardest. you don''t feel well, or like yourself and your body is changing but no one really knows yet since you don''t tell many people. and then you have to wait to continue to make sure the baby is viable. i felt a little less stressed and worried around 18-20 weeks, i don''t know why for sure, but we had traveled to europe, we''d had our amnio done with no issues, and i guess i just felt more and more like ''wow if i have made it this far and done all this, then it really must be meant to be''. that doesn''t mean i still don''t worry, DAILY even HOURLY i make sure i can feel him moving or doing something...i worry about ''what does ''decreased activity really mean?''... it''s ongoing mentally. but the closer i get to the due date, the better i feel, like it''s almost here. WE almost have made it.

so just hang in there, it''s tough and i am a control freak who likes to plan stuff. an unemotional control freak who doesn''t typically worry or get paranoid about things...hard to be a preggo mom lol. and moms tell me in general, guess what? it doesn''t end when they come out. i am getting ready for a LIFETIME of worrying about this little guy.

pupp...yeah when i found out at 4 weeks they didn''t want to see me either. fortunately for me i don''t take no for an answer
5.gif
so i told the advice nurse that it was our first pregnancy, that we weren''t expecting for it to happen so quickly, i hadn''t seen my doc recently and i didn''t know what to do, i wanted to make sure everything was ok blah blah. anyway they let me come in at 5.5 weeks...and we were able to see the ''empty circle'' in the uterus which was normal for that period in time. then i went back in at 8 weeks when is when they typically want you to come in to hear heartbeat. i guess every doctor and hospital is diff but at mine they want you to come in at 8 weeks to hear heartbeat--but that is usually your first appt. also i think if you have any big worries about your health etc they might let you come in earlier. personally i always hate being told to wait for anything so i try to get around it...but it seems like most people just wait.

Thank you everyone for your welcomes and congratulations!!

It is all good advice to try and stay calm, eat well and exercise! I needed to hear that because Im a regular gym- goer but didn''t want to jinx anything, so havent been since I found out. A bit silly, I know, but still- thats my brain haha! And as for staying away from Dr. Google- that is perfect!! haha because I think Ive well and truly read most things about finding out about pregnancy early and its only increasing the worry!!! Have to remind myself not to trust everything you read from google.

My mantra for today is to hit the gym before work, and convince myself to put the box of pregnancy tests down and step away...

Congrats to indy on the birth of your little boy! I love his name, and bet he is just gorgeous!
36.gif

Meresal, glad your results are normal! And I totally hear you on the invisible benchmark thing!

Anchor- root canal at 35 weeks!! I think that makes you my hero!! The dentist is definitely not my friend and a place I try to avoid! So I definitely take my hat off to you to withstand all that without bucketloads of pain relief.

Thanks everyone for responding to my question about prenatal visits. I''m scheduled to see the doctor for the first time next week - I think I''ll be about 5 1/2 weeks. I''m sure I''ll have a zillion questions for her (and you guys!). Back to the Barely Preggo thread...I hope I''m luck enough to join you all soon!

PrettyBlues, I am a need to know person, so I definitely understand what you mean. Having been through the first 11 weeks already I''d read and researched and knew a lot, it just got to the point of being too much information (and too many antecdotal stories which had no relationship to me and my pregnancy). That was when I knew it was time to step away. It was also realizing no matter how much I knew I couldn''t change the outcome. My mom was so excited. She''s funny.

Jcrow, how great that your husband got to feel movement.

Indy, what a great name!

Aqua, Dr. Google is truly not your friend. Too easy for people to put crap information out as facts.

Qtie, I had two weeks when I was raring to go. Now, not so much.

Congratulations Indy and welcome Nolan!!

PB I also second whoever said get a doppler. I was SOO tempted to go that route but I didn't really consider it til like 14 weeks and then we were traveling and I was lazy and then I was like eh forget it! But they are not expensive, like $20 a month and I thought well for a few months of peace of mind why not. But then again I prob would have attached it to my belly and left it there 24/7 and you are not supposed to do that haha.

CONGRATS Indy!!! Wow you went early, 2 weeks almost right?? Can't wait to see pics and so happy to hear it all went well!

Kimi like you I don't read too much about what is going on so I don't freak myself out... I get the babycenter email and a fitpregnancy email and that's it. I also never read the 'what to expect' book because a lot of Moms just said it freaks you out with 'what could happen'. I just attribute every little ache and pain and this and that to pregnancy and figure if I am not leaking fluid and/or bleeding then it's ok. Even though I have been a lot more 'paranoid' than I typically would about anything... I guess I still am not too stressed. Or I try not to be.

Amber... wow your birth story is amazing. It's a little freaky to think you can be in labor for 24 hours and then have to have the EC... I guess its not totally uncommon, I know a few gals, but I never want to think about it. But I have to say I loved your descriptions. While it's a little graphic to think about a meatloaf brick trying to push itself through my bowels, it also gives a good mental picture which I'd much rather have than a nebulous description of 'the pain and pressure'...which could mean so many things. I would rather know what you mean by pressure than think 'holy crap what kind of pressure'...you know?? Known evils I suppose.

jcrow... I'd just go for a black dress too... i am SO not into any holiday parties or dressing up this year. it was a feat to put on something cute for my shower a few weeks ago and i am going to wear a dress for my shower this wkd and then i am like...NO MORE DRESSING UP! i am happiest when i am in lounge clothes at home with my belly hanging out. haha.

It's so funny because every time I think 'omg i haven't felt him much in a few hours' he starts drumming up a STORM in there. it's like we have a psychic connection...HA!

and lastly I am SO BUMMED that I have been so busy today because I just saw the halo sleep sack note on babysteals and they are sold out of course!! I have 3-4 of these on my registry and no one has bought them but I was going to get them anyway and could have for 50%. WAH!!! Well hopefully it'll come up again at some point soon.

eta... forgot to say Jas that i love your ultrasound photo!! i think boy too.

Congrats indy on little Nolan! Can''t wait to see pictures

Mara, I think there's such a thing as knowing too much. When I started bleeding during my first pregnancy I read everything I could get my hands on, basically looking for reassurance that everything was going to be okay. Things didn't turn out as I'd hoped, but everything is okay and it was at that point I realized I was making myself a bit nutty. When my OB recommended handing all research and questions over to John (and her obviously) I was like "Brilliant!" and I'm so glad I did. He keeps great tabs on what's going on with me and the pregnancy and shares information, but I don't feel overwhelmed by it. I haven't picked up a single parenting book and the only one I can imagine reading is the healthy sleep habits happy baby (or whatever it's called) book, just because I'm determined we're going to get this kiddo on a sleep schedule.

Sleep sacks: I got one on sale at Kohl's for $9 (regularly $20), made by Carter's I think, so if you missed the baby steals sale keep an eye out for Kohl's sales too (they're always having sales, as you all know).

Dresses: I found 2 dresses at great prices (no more than $35) at Motherhood. One is black and white batik print and the other is dark purple. Both are reasonably flattering and really comfortable. They've been my go-to clothes when I've needed to dress up and I think I can make them last until the end of the pregnancy.

Amber- YOU ARE MY HERO! congrats to you and Paul, and welcome to Miss Piper

Indy- WOW, two weeks early. congrats, mamma! I love the name Nolan

Congratulations Amber! You poor love, what a labour and then to end with a C-section as well - you deserve a medal! Thanks for posting your birth story. I found it really interesting that you could feel the pressure - that was what got them worried with me, I never felt any pressure at all (despite having turned the epi off completely for over an hour) and so hadn''t got a clue where to push! (sounds stupid, but trust me it is hard to know where to concentrate your efforts with no signs!)

Can''t wait to see photos of little Piper! Look after yourself and enjoy the ''tiny'' days, they go soooooo fast!

IP - Big congratulations to you as well and welcome to Nolan!

Puppmom - I was high-risk and saw my GP at 5 weeks who said, okay so you took an HPT and it was positive, as you''re high-risk I''ll book you with the hospital midwives for a 10 week appointment. They don''t do Betas or anything here unless you are doing IVF or similar. I ended up having a U/S at 8 weeks due to bleeding, but otherwise I saw the midwives at 10 weeks and the OB at 16 weeks. I was lucky that my hospital does the 12 week NT scan and the 20 week Anomaly scan, but many in the UK just do the 20 week one.

As there is nothing that they can or will do before 18 weeks they don''t see much point in seeing you much till later on unless you have a particular issue like bleeding or pain or anything that makes them suspect eptopic, or an underlying medical condition such as heart problems.

It''s really disappointing though - you get the positive line on the HPT, you''re all excited, ring the doctor and all they say is ''Great, see you in 6 weeks'' and you feel
14.gif

Aqua - The worry starts about 10 seconds after the positive line and doesn''t go away I''m afraid. And, once they are born it''s a whole load more worry - I want to wrap my little girl in cotton-wool and never let her out of my arms.

Whew, I''ve been so busy I haven''t had much time to post, but just wanted to say a BIG CONGRATS to Amber and Indy!

Ok, so no one will say I look small this week! I think this baby is going through a MAJOR growth spurt! I feel so huge and my husband is agreeing that I finally look big and pregnant now....haha, only took about 8 months
9.gif
. Hope everyone is having a great week!
