< my doc seems to think i''ll likely deliver on the early side since physicians tend to deliver early as we''re on our feet and walking all day. i hope it''s not too early! we are sooooooo not ready yet!!!

haha...my doc told me that physicians ALWAYS have complications! i laughed at her until i went on bedrest at 26 weeks, dilated at 28, delivered at 37, and had a massive post-partum hemorrhage (although i wasn''t in icu like pandora, my hgb dropped to 7.1...NOT FUN)!!

HANG IN THERE (and fingers crossed for an easy full-term non-complicated delivery!)!!

hope all the other preggos are doing GREAT! i am another lurker who missed seeing bpf this week...i love watching all of your progress!!!

ooh... I wonder if anchor had the baby already...

to all ladies, this is really an unimportant question by I''m wondering anyway...

Tuesday I have my first u/s and I will be 2 days shy of 10 weeks (LMP). the u/s will be done externally and I think somewhere near my pubic bone. does that mean they do the ''jelly and wand'' stuff over your pubic hair? ok, don''t laugh at me. like I said, totally unimportant but they always do it much higher in the movies so now I''m starting to wonder.

When I''ve had an external u/s, they''ve only done my stomach and nothing below.

Baby Drew is really starting to get some good kicks and punches in at 24 weeks. Crazy kid! I''ve gained 13 pounds so far and breathing at night is getting really difficult.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Hey ladies! I hope you had a good Christmas. I''m still pregnant, not much progress after last Tuesday and Wednesday''s bout of false labour. I''m glad I got to spend time with my family for Christmas, but I''d like some labour vibes now! I''m getting pretty tired of the back aches and sporadic sleeping... Everyone can''t wait to meet the LO.

Anchor, glad you were able to spend Christmas with your family. Baby will be here before you know it.
Sorry for everyone struggling.

Things are great here. We had a nice Christmas and the car ride was no big deal. We draw names in our family and my dad got me. He gave me a beautiful heart shaped necklace in white gold with tiny baby shoes dangling in the middle. So sweet and thoughtful. My sister gave us a ton of baby clothes up to 24 months, they are all darling. This is going to be one well dressed kid.

Cute story: My mom was rubbing my stomach and my nephew, who is four, joined in. He asked where the baby is so he can see her, I said in my stomach and he lifted up my shirt and asked "Can I see her through that hole?" meaning my belly button. Then he started talking through "that hole" to the baby.

anchor...good to see you are still hanging in ...but definitely sending you labor vibes!!! how i have been feeling lately, i am sure you are more than ready for the little one to come out and play!

i am starting to wistfully stare at foods and think about when i can actually FIT them and ENJOY them in the hopeful near future. eating tamales this season was horrible, they gave me heartburn and seemed to not be as good as previous years. i froze some for us for after baby, so maybe i will enjoy them more then.

i slept well last nite thank goodness as baby and my uterus behaved. i am a total crab when i don't get sleep (ummm gear up for it i guess, i'll be lucky if greg doesn't leave me after the kid comes, or at least muzzle me) but the kid is still SUPER active when i am awake and sitting up at all...it just feels so uncomfortable when i am sitting. i am starting to wonder how i will be sitting in my cube at work and in meetings for the next 3 weeks. i might have to pepper the days with some working from home afternoons where i can recline on the couch.

standing feels best, but then of course i get lower back pain. gah.

did anyone use that exercise ball thing for sitting towards the end? i have heard from 2-3 moms that it is really a lot more comfy than an actal chair. we don't have one but can borrow one. is it weird to take it to work? haha.

noel...i think they did internal til 12 weeks for me. but yeah i think even my first and second external were really close to my pubic area and he was really low til around 15 weeks. maybe trim a little before you go hahaha.

re: bpf...i will do one next week...i am sure i will be even more gigantic then..
3.gif

kaleigh... yeah it is so funny that bf'ing was not as prevalent even 20/30 years ago. i always thought i was bf'd but i wasn't! and neither was greg. i just assumed our parents and gparents did that (my grandma didn't even!)...because it seemed so much more natural back then. but i guess also they didn't have the same support systems we do nowadays, like the leche league and the lactation consultants...so we are def lucky!

Lindsey~Congrats on baby boy!!!

Mara~I''d take 60 over 6 degrees any day but I hear ya on a happy medium! Sorry you have been so uncomfortable. My little guy is so low I can totally relate to the discomfort. I have a fairly long torso (I''m tall) and he still manages to bump around crazy low as well as kick my rib cage simultaneously!

Charger~I''ve barely left the house!
41.gif

Monkey~Sorry about the puppy! Way better to know now and so good you found a good home!

ginger~I think it''s pretty normal for baby to change positions without it necessarily meaning that baby is dropping for delivery. I''ve carried this baby so low my entire pregnancy...some may think it looks like I''ve dropped as well but I just think it''s where he''s sitting in there. At any rate, yay for having less heartburn!
16.gif

Logan~I love the name Drew!!

Anchor~Glad you had a great Christmas with your family. Sending labor dust your way!!

Kimberly~So cute your nephew was talking to the baby through your belly button!

Nothing new around here. I''ve actually felt so much more comfortable this past week...I think because I haven''t had to squeeze into dress pants for 4 hours a day for work. I''m going to have a hard time going back next week!
8.gif

Hi ladies. I haven''t posted much in here. I didn''t want to get too comfortable and then end up losing the baby. My anxiety ran high this pregnancy due to losing our son Duncan last November. He was also due in dec.

I''m happy to report Henry arrived on Dec 26th at 11:51pm. He was born at home. It was a crazy fast labor and birth. Still a lot for me to take in.

Stats: 9 lbs and 22"

waxing lyrical - congratulations on the birth of your son henry! love the name and hope you both are doing well.

Anchor, I''m sending easy labor vibes your way! Now that Christmas is out of the way, you''ll probably feel more relaxed and things will start moving quickly. It''s funny how when you know you have things to do, labor will wait.

Waxing, congrats on Henry''s arrival! I''d love to hear the details of your homebirth if you have time to write them up.

MonkeyPie, I''m sorry I didn''t have time to respond to your post sooner. I did read it and was thinking about you. Pregnancy hormones can make things SO incredibly difficult and the stress of the holiday on top doesn''t help. Unfortunately, there''s probably not a lot your doctor can do for you right now, but it''s worth bringing it up in case you find that the depression doesn''t go away in the post-partum period. I''m a big believer in anti-depressants (as well as therapy) because I''ve dealt with SAD for years and Effexor is the key to keeping me feeling decent.

Anyway, because getting on the right medication at the right dose can be a trial and error process, it''s hard to do when you''re pregnant since your body chemistry is different than non-pregnant. Plus, since studies have shown that babies born to moms on anti-depressants go through withdrawal at birth, a lot of docs will want you off the medication well before birth. As great as Effexor is for me, going off of it is a b*tch and I''d never want a newborn to have to deal with that.

Now the good news is that generally in the third trimester, the feel good hormones are enough to keep the depression at bay, so you may find yourself feeling much better in the same amount of time that if would take for an anti-depressant to kick in. Post-partum hormones can also be wonderful for keeping you feeling good. I always recommend breastfeeding for moms prone to depression because the hormones that are released are designed to relax you and make you happy.

Hang in there. I hope you feel better soon.

About breastfeeding in the not so distant past: The history of infant formula is really interesting if you''re so inclined to read about it. Formula was essentially promoted as a way for women to be more independent because with it, anyone could feed the baby. This was around the time that women were going into the work force, etc., so it appealed to the "modern woman" since she no longer had to be tied down by a baby. There were also financial implications -- a woman had to be able to afford to feed formula, so breastfeeding became the feeding choice for the poor.

I find it interesting that now, breastfeeding rates are highest among women that are educated and NOT poor, so it''s totally turned around. When I was with WIC, I found that formula feeding was a status symbol among the women I dealt with -- even though WIC provided the formula (and only a partial amount of what was needed for a month), some of our clients saw this as a way to appear not so poor. Even though others wouldn''t necessarily know that they were getting some formula for free, the price tag associated with formula made the clients appear to be better off than they were.

I''m really thankful that both my and SO''s families are supportive of breastfeeding. My ex-MIL was not and it was a big problem -- once she asked me, "Why don''t you feed him the natural way...with a bottle??" I couldn''t nurse in front of exMIL or FIL, so I always had to go hide away, which doesn''t seem right to me. SO''s mom asked me when Will was a year old if he was still nursing and when I said yes, I was prepared for her to maybe say something negative, but she said GOOD.
1.gif
One of the many reasons I adore her.

BTW, she''s been asking about things she can buy the new baby and we''ve shot her down each time. She wanted to buy a crib, but we co-sleep, so no go on that. Then she asked about a car seat and we still have Will''s infant seat that''s in perfect shape. I felt really bad because I''m not trying to keep her out -- we just don''t really need anything! Finally, I asked SO to tell her that if she would like, she could contribute to the new pump I want to buy. I have an Ameda Purely Yours that still has plenty of life in it, but I want a Medela Freestyle for traveling since it''s so much lighter. Thank heavens his mom is good with this!!

Nothing else to report from me. I''m big, bored and tired. Christmas was really a wonderful day and the kids had an excellent time. Yesterday, I took them to the mall so they could spend their money and it was a lot harder than I expected. I''m simply not up for hours of walking like that. Today, I made it clear that I want things done around the house, so we''ve been doing laundry, etc., which is good, but Will is being VERY 3 and it''s making me quite crabby. I feel bad for him because he''s such a great kid -- he''s just too energetic for me at this point.

Lindsay, congrats! A boy will be so much fun!

Waxing, congrats on the birth of your little guy! I LOVE the name Henry...so cute! I can''t wait to hear your birth story.

Anchor, my SIL is also due on the 31st and had some false labor last weekend that got us all excited then...nothing. She says the little guy has been REALLY active since so we''re hoping he''ll make his appearance in the next few days.

As for me, I feel "normal" today. It''s quite disconcerting actually. No queasiness, no exhaustion and my boobs don''t hurt nearly as bad as they were. I''m sure I''ll worry now until my appointment in two weeks.

lindsey congrats on a baby boy!!

anchor sending you tons of labor vibes. hopefully it won''t be too much longer before you hold you LO.

waxing CONGRATS mama!! hope you and henry are both doing well.

hope everyone is doing well!!

noel...i think they did internal til 12 weeks for me. but yeah i think even my first and second external were really close to my pubic area and he was really low til around 15 weeks. maybe trim a little before you go hahaha.

hahaha... that''s exactly why I asked!

Hey, girls....I have been sick all weekend. Sore throat, sneezing, and ears are hurting, and horrible heartburn all day to top it off. Yuck! I am so grateful to be pregnant with this little boy, don''t get me wrong, but right now I am so over being pregnant! Ugh...I go to my reg. appointment today so hopefully he will give me something I can take. I just weighed myself and I am up about 5 pounds since before Christmas so I hope he doesn''t say anything...I honestly am not in the mood for a lecture! My feet are swollen up the size of Shrek''s so I''m sure that has something to do with it, but Christmas meals and leftovers probably did it too! Anyway, sorry for the complaining post...hopefully everyone else is doing well today!

Waxing, huge congrats to you. I hope you can now breath a sigh of relief now that your little one is here! Take care!

Ladies, yesterday I noticed that my boobs aren''t as sore as they were (my only realy symptom of being preggo other than slight queasiness and constipation) so I got a little nervous. Now, this morning, I''m spotting. Let me clarify - a streak of pink on one wipe. I''ve been to the bathroom once since and there''s nothing but I''m flipping out.
8.gif
Is this worthy of calling the doctor? Is there anything they can do?

waxing...huge congrats on a safe delivery of your holiday boy. hope you can post a picture soon of Henry!!

pupp... don''t get too worried, i know it''s hard. i would call your Dr and tell them that you had some spotting. see if they will let you come in. i know that spotting can be common in the early first trimester, i can''t remember how far along you are, but it may be nothing. however, if you can go in and get some peace of mind it would probably help take the stress off.

steph... awww i can''t even imagine being sick on top of feeling like this already, hang in there girl. you only have about 3 more weeks right?? i''m jealous.
5.gif

i am just trying to take these last weeks one day at a time. actually more like one HOUR at a time. sometimes i feel fine and others i am just SO over it...and ready for him to come meet us. but yeah i guess if he can stay in there a few more weeks it would probably be best.

on a random, ''i killed major brain cells'' note... i watched ''kendra with baby'' last week which was apparently some 1 hour special about that playboy bunny kendra and her hub and their baby delivery. it reminded me of the nick and jessica show basically, but with a pregnancy hehee. anyway i made greg watch like 10 min of it last nite, mostly because the baby parts were somewhat clinical, she had a csect in the end and i didn''t realize that hospitals do the big tent thing over you while that is happening. anyway their kid was super cute, and huge, over 9 lbs and she started out very tiny! she also gained like 45 lbs so i felt better about my own weight gain, HA HA. i''ll take anything at this point to make me smile.

i''m back to work this week, only 3 days, and Greg is home. i am sad about leaving the pack behind after 9 days with them, but i am also glad to get a bit of a distraction going with work... i hope it will make the days pass more quickly than just being at home dwelling on the butt trying to wedge under my ribcage.

Mara, haha...I bought an US weekly a few months back with Kendra on the cover talking about her pregnancy. I read she had gained lots and I was like haha, sucker...until I realized I probably still outweigh her by a lot
3.gif

Puppmom, hi there! I had lots of bleeding at the beginning (7 weeks) with this baby and thought I was having another miscarriage. But I went in and things were fine. I would also call your doc, tell them about the spotting and go in for some peace of mind. They will probably do an ultrasound and take bloodwork now and 3 days from now to make sure your levels are going up like they are supposed to.

GingerB
Maybe GingerBaby just changed position. It makes sense that all your standing and walking can lead to early labor, but tell the little guy that he needs to bake a little longer. Hehe.
Waxing
Congratulations on your little boy Henry. He is a big boy. Would love to hear your birth story and see pics if you have the time.
Anchor
Sending you lots of labor vibes. Come on baby, mommy and daddy are waiting for you.
Kimberly
Aww that’s so cute that your nephew was talking to your baby through your belly button. Yesterday I asked Meena where is baby, and she lifted my shirt up and kissed my belly. Then I said how about a kiss for mommy, and she said no. Haha. I am not sure if she really understands that there’s a baby in my belly, but it was so funny.
MP
Poor thing. Hope the depression is just the temporary surge of hormones and the stress of the holiday. I go through days when I just don’t feel good or happy for no reasons.
RPS
Interesting that you noticed moms seeing formula as a status symbol in the WIC program. I think that’s how it’s being promoted in a lot of less developed country.
Puppmom
Isn’t it funny how we miss our pregnancy symptoms even though we hate them when we have them? Hehe.
My sore boobs come and go in the beginning, so that’s normal. As for the spotting, it’s probably nothing, but call your dr if it’ll put your mind at ease.
Noelwr
All my u/s were external since 5 weeks. They don’t go as slow as the pubic hair area, maybe just to the top of it.
Steph
Sorry you are not feeling. Hope you get better soon. And also sorry that your feet are swollen. Mines haven’t yet. They didn’t the last pregnancy, so I am hoping that it’ll be the same this time. I don’t want to wear flip flops in the winter. =P
Mara
I know all of us were formula fed. Probably more common to formula feed in the 80s.
Funny you mention Kendra. I remember seeing a picture of her on the cover of a magazine, and thought she looked great for the 45lbs weight gain.

I have my 36 weeks appt this coming Friday, and they will do an u/s for weight and position check, an internal and the strep B swab. I can’t believe I only have 31 days until my due date. I am kind of nervous lately about having a toddler and a newborn, especially since M had been very needy the past week. She is having a cold, so that doesn’t help. I am worried that she might be really jealous and wants all my attention.
To everyone else, hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday! I am back at work and bummed as ever. It was very hard to wake up this mroning.

Lindsey- Congrats on joining Team Blue!! Re: Aquamarine... is that just because it is a blue color? My birthstone is aquamarine, but my birthday is in March.
Steph- I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope you get better soon.
MP- Sorry to hear about having to give up the new pup. Is the allergy to all dogs in general, or just the one breed?
Pupp- I had a few times where I wiped and they was VERY VERY faint pink spotting, but it was only once every third day for a week or two. It totally freaked me out, but my DH kept reminding me that it was hardly anything and not to worry. I would wait it out, and if it gets worse (ie, darker or red), then call the doctor.

I had the WEIRDEST dream Christmas night.

I dreamt that I had a 5 minute labor (Yay!!!), but that my child was 13 YEARS OLD when he came out.

When they put him in my arms, he felt like a baby, but I noticed a difference. (You know, like you notice a scratch on your shoe that wasn't there before...
20.gif
) Then when they took him to be cleaned off and checked, I turned to DH and said, "Did he look a bit older than a newborn?"

When the doctor returned, without the baby, she sat down and said we needed to "go over some things." She immediately told me that after weighing the baby at 110 LBS (!!!) and measuring him... his numbers were indicative of a 13 y/o!!!!

I was so depressed that we had missed all of the baby years... I woke up in the strangest mood.

Puppmom, there's nothing your OB can do to stop spotting or prevent miscarriage, but he/she may do an ultrasound to confirm the baby is alright.

Waxing, welcome to Henry, so glad he arrived safely.

Charger, my sister asked me what year you graduated and your first name, I told her I'd ask.

I'm having a baby monitor issue, trying to decide if I want a video monitor a monitor with a movemement detector or just a plain ol' fashioned one. The baby will probably sleep in a pack'n'play in our room for a while, but nap in her crib. But as I've said a million times I'm not determined to make anything happen so that could all change and I'm not sure what the best option is for us.

I need to start cleaning things out in preperation for putting this house on the market, it's my plan for the day. I also want to go get some sewing supplies so when my new machine arrives I'm ready to get going. So looking forward to this new hobby.

Greenbabybargains has 2 packs Bambino Land Organic Muslin Swaddling Blankets for $18.00. I''ve read that these are comparable to Aden & Anais swaddling blankets.

meresal, i have had weird dreams like that all thru my pregnancy. and i never have 'labor'..he just appears. hahaha.

re: kendra, she did look fab for her weight gain, but she always had makeup on and her hair done on the show too. i look great when i am all made up as well HAHA. just not every other minute of the day. but yeah she did 'carry' it well in general. but they showed a few pics of her when she was with hugh and wow the diff was huge. but if you hadn't known how small she was before, you wouldn't have guessed necessarily.

when she got on the scale in the show 3 weeks before delivery she was 166.6. so i imagine she gained a few more lbs before delivery. she had a 9 lb baby! her husband seems really sweet, he was all emotional about the baby.

rps... yeah i could see how formula was a status thing...also in the OLD OLD days, bf'ing was thought to be more 'common' and well-bred ladies didn't do it...they had wet nurses and nannies etc. i feel like bf'ing has kind of come in and out of 'vogue' but now that they have all this science around it, it's almost funny that people are so rabid about people HAVING to do it to have a healthy child. i know so many people who weren't and they are just fine...mentally and physically.

kimi...we got the monitor with video and it turns out it has some webcam internet feature too which we didn't know. it was just rated really highly on target...but the webcam thing will be cool so that greg's fam can log on and see the baby in the crib and all that. people have just said 'don't forget to turn it off while breastfeeding' HAHA. oh yeah!

You know, I think that would freak me out less than birthing a 13 y/o and not being able to tell until the doctor pointed it out to you!

Ohh, I remembered a part that I left out... when the doctor took the "baby" to be cleaned off and measured, the baby WALKED away with her, as in one foot after the other, right after being born!!!! That happened right before I turned to my DH, and asked if the "baby" looked "older" than a newborn.
40.gif

LOL!!!!!

LOL Mere, I have dreams like that ALL THE TIME. I have never been much of a dreamer - I usually sleep too hard - but now I can hardly sleep most of the time so I find myself having really strange, vivid dreams on a nightly basis. I have only had two birth dreams, though, and in both of them the doctor told me it was a girl instead of a boy. I''m glad we are having another ultrasound in a few weeks lol.

Waxing~Congrats!!!

steph~Sorry you''re not feeling well. Yuck!!

puppmom~I agree with the other gals, call your doc!

QT~Can''t believe you''re 36 weeks already! I can totally relate to having some anxiety about 2 kids. Tayva is going through a weird sleep thing where she''s been waking at night probably every other night and I just keep thinking how miserable that''s going to be with a newborn! I''m sure we''ll both find our ways and M and T will be fine but it''s hard to not worry a little!

Meresal~That dream is hilarious! I have the oddest dreams when I''m preggo. DH gets a kick out of them almost daily!

Kimberly~I started out with a regular old monitor with T and honestly in the early times it was just fine but once she got older I got a video monitor and am soooo glad I did. She often times wakes from naps/in the morning and will sing and play in her crib but not actually get up and want out....if I didn''t see her still laying down on the video I would probably go in there due to the noise but most of the time if I let her play for a bit she''ll dose back off for a half hour or so!!

re: Kendra I read in US weekly she ended up gaining 55 lbs.

I have my 33wk appt this afternoon. So not looking forward to seeing the number on the scale after the holidays (even though I don''t have as much room, I still managed to do some damage on some cookies and treats!
3.gif
).

Also meant to mention that I got some Gap long and lean mat. jeans for Christmas (I asked for them) and they are amazing! Love them. So for anyone who is tall and looking for mat jeans I highly recommend them!

Monitors: So video seems to be the popular concensus. Shower invites are going out so I need to get that settled before people start shopping. I think I''ll change the one I registered for. Thanks for the info.

Waxing, congrats! I just saw your post

My husband keeps saying that, too lol. But by now, I don''t! I am really attached to him as Micah, and I want him to BE Micah. As much as I would still like a little girl, I have so enjoyed knowing he''s a boy. Plus, I''d have to return a LOT of stuff, haha!

so during the week of christmas, i spent time with my family [who live 6+ hours away]. boo to no internet, but yay for seeing them! we ate so much yummy food, gah i miss the food there. anywho... christmas day we handed out cards i designed + printed that revealed the gender of our little bean. all at the same time they opened them and we got to see their reaction. i was so happy we waited to share the news at christmas, despite how hard it was! they were excited. my grandmother is already plotting to crochet little booties and things for her.

in other news, i had a pain in my lower belly/intestine area for a couple of days. sucked. especially since one of those days was christmas. boo. that''s given way to back pain. i don''t know what the who is happening, but i hope it goes away! i''ve been doing tylenol + heating pad. that seems to be helping.
